Chapter One Hundred and Seven
Happy New Year 2019

He tried to sleep as long as he could this morning, this last chance where he was guaranteed an opportunity to start his new year with a kiss from his beautiful wife; but that was not what ended up happening, because of what he learned the last night. Those facts that had shaken him up the night before, were still in his head; the fact that his brother-in-law slept with his sister. And even since he learned that fact, he hasn't been himself, which was something that wasn't lost on either the husband, or the wife. And that was why she understood why he wasn't in bed with her this morning, (A fact that, on a normal day wouldn't have made the wife the happiest). But today was not a normal day, and that was why she understood the reason why he wasn't in bed with her this morning. There was a big difference between this morning, and yesterday morning; and that would be the fact that he learned last night that his sister slept with her (estranged) brother.

The brother whom, just months earlier, slept with the woman that he blames in part for why his wife decided to run away from him (and their marriage); but now, he slept with his sister and that was just something that the husband couldn't shake (as much as he tried to). And that was why he was no longer in bed with his wife, and instead was taking a swim in their pool to start the new year; a swim that he hoped would help him clear his mind, before he (inevitably) had to see Antonio and his sister today at some point. He just hoped that Gabby understood, understood that this was something that he needed to do for himself so that they didn't start off their year on the wrong foot. And that was exactly what the wife was thinking as she made her way downstairs from their bedroom. Yes, Gabby was on their way down from bed as she just woke up. He, of course, left a note to tell her where he was going to be; so, she was ready to start her day in his arms.

But how exactly can she be ready to be in his arms this morning, when he's in the pool? Well, Gabby is wearing the outfit that she thought that she might have worn last night when they ran in the New Year in the pool. But instead, she's wearing it this morning as she prepared to give her husband some comfort. Walking out after having a bowl of cereal, Gabby made her way over to the pool chair where her husband currently had his towel set down; the towel that he was going to use to dry off when he was done in the pool, which just so happened to match the towel that she grabbed this morning. But that was not what mattered at the moment. Rather, what mattered was that she was going to get in the pool with the man of her dreams (and the future father of her twins). Taking off her sandals, Gabby smiled as she looked at the man of her dreams; the man whom she was going to make feel much better, but not in the way that you're thinking.

No, she was not going to be doing so sexually; rather, she was just going to be compassionate and just try to get her husband to open up to her. She wants to do whatever she can to make sure that he's okay, and that's exactly what she's going to do this morning. Getting in the pool this morning, Gabby smiled as she proceeded to make her way over to Matt; but she did so quietly, as she didn't want her husband to turn around and face her until she was right behind him. She wanted to surprise him, and turn him on in a way that was quite sexy; and she just knew that he was going to love that more than anything in the entire world. So, that's exactly what she's going to do for her loving husband. She's going to surprise her husband and just try and do whatever she can to make him feel better, but maybe not sexually. Swimming up right behind him, Gabby smiled as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and then kissed his back softly this morning.

Turning around when he felt some lips on his back, Matt smiled when he saw his beautiful wife there. "Hey." Gabby agreed with her husband when he told her that, smiling as they both got close to each other. Wrapping her arms around his neck, Gabby smiled as she felt Matt put his hands on her stomach. Getting close to Matt, Gabby smiled as she leaned in and kissed him softly. Just taking things nice and slow with the man she loves more than anything in the entire world, the man who is so charming. "So, is there a reason why you're out here this morning? I think we both know that you'd rather be in bed with me." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, taking a breath as he looked at the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "Uhm, I was thinking about what happened. How my sister was in bed with your brother." Wrapping her arms around Matt's neck, Gabby agreed with Matt when he told her that. "Yeah."

Smiling at her husband, Gabby leaned in and proceeded to kiss him softly. "I hope you know that you don't need to hide the fact that you're bothered by this from me, because I am just as bothered by it as you are."

Matt's POV:
When I heard that Gabby was just as bothered by what was going on in between our siblings right now as I was, I was a bit taken aback as that was not the response to his that I expected to get from her. But still, I was glad that it was the response that I got; as it meant that I was going to be able to talk to her about it, talk to someone about it who feels the same way as I feel about it. "You are?" Gabby agreed with me when I asked her that, proceeding to kiss me softly. "Baby, of course I am. Why do you think we fell asleep before midnight last night? I had to fall asleep before midnight, so that I would stop thinking about it." I agreed with Gabby when she told me that, moving my hands to her back as we held each other close. Moving her hands to my arms, Gabby smiled as we both held each other close in the pool. "God, did you eat this morning? Or do you need something to eat?" Gabby smiled when I asked her that. "I already had a snack this morning."

I agreed with Gabby when she told me that, glad that she at least had a snack this morning. "Good, that's exactly what I wanted to hear." Gabby agreed with me as I told her that, smiling as she knew that was going to be a fact. After all, I want her to eat as much as she can while she's pregnant. "Sorry we didn't start 2019 in bed together." Gabby shook her head when I told her that, proceeding to wrap her arms around my neck nice and tight. "It's ok baby, we're here and that's all that matters at the end of the day." I agreed with Gabby when she told me that, smiling as I leaned in and proceeded to kiss her softly. Taking things nice and slow with the woman I love more than anything in the entire world. Just holding her close to me, I smirked due to the fact that I am just so in love with her. Wrapping my arms around her nice and tight, Gabby smiled as she wrapped her arms around my neck and then leaned in to kiss me softly. God, she is just so damn sexy.

"God, I love you so much; and I am so glad that this is what we're doing right now. I am just happy over the fact that we're in the pool with each other. I'm just so happy to have you in my arms, and that we're starting the new year together in the pool." Moving my hand to Gabby's neck, I smiled as I took things nice and slow with my gorgeous wife this morning. However, what I didn't expect was that we would be joined in the pool by somebody else; somebody who just had to come splash us by doing a cannon ball. "GOOD MORNING HAWAII!" Kelly then jumped into the pool, which ended up splashing both me and Gabby. And I was about to yell, until Gabby did it first. "KELLY SEVERIDE!" Turning his head as he came up, he was scared when he saw me and Gabby. "Oh shit." Gabby then looked at him, getting out of my arms. She then proceeded to start making her way over to my best friend so that she can slap him; that was, until she saw Stella come out.

"Oh boy I just heard a Gabby Casey screech! That either means that Kelly is in trouble, or her husband is about to get it from his wife's best friend!" I put my hands up when I heard Stella say that, as I was innocent at the moment. "Hey, that's not my fault." Gabby then stared at Kelly, not happy. "That would be your boyfriend, whom I know did it on purpose. There's no doubt in my mind…that he did it on purpose." Gabby then went ahead and proceeded to swim out of the pool so that she could grab her towel. Just getting out, Gabby took a breath when she saw Stella at the stairs. Turning to face her best friend, Stella looked at Gabby. "Okay, what did he do?" Gabby then turned to look at Kelly. "Your boyfriend decided that it'd be a good idea, to jump into the pool cannon ball style and splash us as we kissed in the pool; when I was doing that to distract myself at the time." I took a breath when I heard Gabby say that, well aware that she was going to tell Stella.

Stella then turned to look at Gabby, confused as what she just said. "Okay, what's going on?" I took a breath when I heard Stella ask that question, before looking at Kelly. "Listen, how about we go talk in the kitchen; and we can do it away from my wife, who can't get stressed out right now? At the same time, my wife can speak with your girlfriend and tell her just how much of an idiot her boyfriend is." Swimming over to the stairs, I looked at Kelly. "Let's get out of here, and we can talk in the kitchen." Kelly agreed with me when I said that, well aware of the fact that I was not the happiest at the moment; and therefore, he knew that I wanted to yell at him in the kitchen. Hence the reason why I wanted to take him away from the pool, because I didn't want Gabby to get more stress from the conversation that I'm going to have with my best friend. At the same time, Stella proceeded to look at Gabby. "Want me to join you girl?" I then thought about it. "Kelly, kitchen."

Kelly agreed with me when I said that, proceeding to walk away so that he can make his way to the kitchen. At the same time, I turned around and looked at Gabby. "Gabby, how about you talk to Stella? I think that it'll help. By the way, Happy New Year Stella." Stella smiled when I told her that. "Happy New Year Matt. Now, are we just relaxing today; or are you going to…" I laughed. "Oh, I'm making your boyfriend work to…" Stella then decided to drop a bombshell on me and Gabby. "Husband actually." Gabby just looked at her best friend when she said that, not happy. "Matthew, go talk to him about how he made me miss my best friend's wedding! Oh, and breakfast! You, get in the water…and we're going to talk about the fact that I missed your wedding." Stella agreed with Gabby, clearly able to see that she wasn't happy right now.

Stella's POV:
Walking into the pool this morning, I turned to look at Matt. "You go take care of Kelly; I'll take care of Gabby." Matt agreed with me when I said that. "More like, you're going to yell at my husband." Gabby then added on. "Just like I'm going to do with you. Get over here Ms. Severide!" I agreed with Gabby when she told me that, proceeding to swim over to my best friend. Just staring at me, Gabby was clearly not happy. "Babe, I'm going to make you breakfast as I talk to Kelly. However, this doesn't mean that I'm making you and Kelly a wedding breakfast. I should've been his best man! And you robbed my wife of being you maid of honor." Gabby looked me when I said that, waving a me. "Baby, we might as well spend some time with them today; then we can work on the company since I want to hit the ground running." I looked at her. "The day after my wedding!" Gabby looked at me. "Girl, I need a distraction…and you're going to understand why."

I agreed with Gabby when she told me that, proceeding to swim over to her. "See you in a bit Matt." Matt agreed with me, smiling at Gabby. "Baby, you call me if you need anything okay? You come first." Gabby agreed with Matt when he told her that, smiling at him. "I like the idea of working on the company, that will be a good way for us to be distracted from what we learned last night." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, seemingly shivering as he thought about it. "What do you want?" Gabby smiled at him. "Can you make me an omelet?" Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that. "I'll do just that." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, smiling as she watched him walk away; at the same time, I swam over to my best friend. The best friend whom I already knew was going to be quite mad at me. Just looking at her, I took a breath due to the fact that this was not going to be fun. I'm going to be yelled at by my best friend this morning.

"So, I'm not going to get that nice of a Happy New Year, am I?" Gabby took a breath when I asked her that, looking at me. "Well, let me see…let me first see the ring." I then proceeded to go show Gabby the ring that Kelly got for me. "Damn, he did a good job." I agreed with her when she told me that, smiling as I went to float next to her. "But seriously, why in the world did I not get an invite to the wedding?" I took a breath. "It was a spur of the moment. Literally, there was a couple who broke up the day of the wedding; the pastor was there, the wedding certificate was there…and it was just something we thought would be fun." Gabby laughed when I said that. "I swear, that's just something that Kelly would do. I mean, he did run away to Vegas to marry his first wife!" I sighed when I was reminded of the fact that I was not Kelly's first wife. "Yep, nothing like being the second wife." Gabby looked at me when I said that. "Girl, get in line. I have no sympathy for you."

I looked at my best friend when I said that. "Excuse me?" Gabby just looked at me. "I had to watch the man I love get his heart broken multiple times by his fiancé, when I wanted him more than anything." I thought about what Gabby said and agreed with her. "Yeah, that makes sense." Gabby agreed with me as I said that, smiling at me. "Yeah, you better believe it makes sense. God, the way that woman broke his heart multiple times; I just wanted to take him in my arms and tell him that I love him, and that he doesn't need to go through it anymore. But right when I wanted to do that, they were back together." I was shocked when I heard Gabby say that. "Wow, that fast." Gabby agreed with me when I said that, smiling at me. "Yeah, so that was not fun. Now, how was the wedding night? Did you go back to the bar? And what led to it?" I smiled at her. "Grieving for the baby and his dad, we just knew that this was forever; and I was just going to do it."

Gabby took a breath when I said that. "Nothing like a tragedy to bring you together, I am well aware of how that works." I agreed with Gabby when she said that, smiling at my best friend. "Sorry you weren't there though, we just did it out of the blue; and I was shocked that we even got the license." Gabby laughed when I said that, agreeing with me. "So, what's the drama that you had to deal with?" Gabby took a breath when I asked her that. "Matt's sister, my brother, one bed." I was shocked when I heard Gabby say that. "Sorry, but did I just hear you say that your brother slept with his sister?"

Kelly's POV:
I was in shock over what I just heard as me and Matt started to make breakfast for the girls. Yes, we decided to talk about that first. "So wait, Gabby's brother slept with your sister?" Matt agreed with me when I said that. "Yep. That's exactly what I just said, didn't I?" I agreed with Matt when he told me that. "Yes, that was exactly what you said. Sorry, I am just shocked that actually happened." Matt agreed with me when I said that, before realizing something. "Ok, how did we end up talking about ME first, when you're the one who did it to me AGAIN!" I looked at Matt when he said that, not sure what he was talking about. "Uhm, what are you talking about?" Matt just looked at me. "Two times now!" I was still confused. "Ok, you're going to have to spell it out to me; because I am still not understanding what you're so mad about. I thought you'd be happy that me and Stella got married." Matt then went to spell it out for me nice and clearly. "Your Best Man!"

I then realized what he was talking about. "Oh." Matt agreed with me when I said that, nodding. "Yeah, two times now. Vegas, and then Honolulu. Seriously? You take away my chance to be your best man twice!" I looked at him. "You did the same thing when you got married to Gabby!" Matt looked at me. "Ok, it was a spur of the moment thing. But I know you Kelly, and you told me that you were going to do this a while back; and you told me that you weren't going to do it when we spoke two mornings ago. And then, you do it! Had I known that you were going to do it, I would've gone with you. Or, I would've taken away the keys and hidden them." I sighed when I heard Matt say that, well aware that was the case. "About that…." Matt then looked at me when I said that, rushing away so that he can go do something.

More specifically, he rushed away to the garage to look at his Tesla. He then went ahead and looked at it and just yelled. "KELLY!"

He was looking at his best friend, still in disbelief over what he just saw on his car. His beautiful, precious Tesla that he recently purchased since he got here. It cost him a fortune to get it delivered, but now he has to find a way so that he can fix it. Shaking his head, Matt looked at his best friend as he wasn't that happy. He was furious over the fact that he scratched his Tesla. And not just any Tesla, his Tesla. The tesla that they were going to use to bring their twins home, and now he wasn't sure whether that was going to be able to happen before they're born. Just taking a breath, he tried to stay calm since Gabby and Stella were now in here with him. However, Gabby just looked at her husband as she was confused as to why they were all here. Looking at Matt, Gabby took a breath and looked at the man she loves to try and get some answers as to why they're all here. "Baby, is everything okay? Why did you just yell like that?" Matt just took a breath.

"Well, here's the thing. I'm actually really mad at my best friend, and what he just did to your car!" Gabby just looked at Matt when he said that. "What'd he do to my car? My NEW Tesla Model X that we just bought recently?" Matt then took a breath. "Well, my best friend there scratched it while he came in the night before; because he decided to take your car rather than mine." Kelly then went to defend himself. "Your car's tiny!" Stella then turned to look at her husband. "Kelly, SHUT UP!" Kelly then did just as his wife told him to do, not wanting to upset her right now. Meanwhile, Gabby turned to look kat her best friend. "Oh no. Don't you dare think that you're escaping this." Stella just looked at her best friend when she said that. "Why are you mad at me? He's the one who drove!" Gabby just looked at her best friend. "And you think that just right away excuse you LETTING your husband drive MY CAR! Girl, that's my car; my baby!" Gabby then turned her head.

"Just be lucky that I'm going to order something that can cover the scratch until it can be fixed." Matt just looked at Gabby when she said that, not sure what she's going to order. "Oh no, you aren't painting over that scratch; that will ruin the entire insurance on it, which will fix it for free!" Gabby just smiled as she looked at her husband. "Baby, I ordered some magnets to put on the side of my car now that we have my logo done; they are going to cover the scratch." Matt thought about it, and agreed with Gabby when she said that; he then turned his head to look at Kelly. "This is coming from YOUR dividend into the company. Are we understood?" Kelly agreed with Matt when he told him that, well aware that was going to be fair. Afterwards, Matt just took a breath and looked at his wife. "Listen, here's what we're going to do."

Matt then turned to look at his best friend. "You're going to make breakfast, and I'm going to take a shower to calm down." Looking at his wife again, Matt smiled. "Care to join me?" Gabby agreed with Matt when he asked her whether she was interested in taking a shower with him. Proceeding to grab her hand after walking over to her, Matt took a breath as he intertwined their fingers so that they can go take a shower together this morning; which is something that will calm him down.
