Hi Readers: Welcome to part two of Valentine's day. I know that I am not posting as much of late, and that's because I have been struggling a bit with my writing; I hope that I am going to get better soon, as I really enjoy this story and want to give y'all quality updates when I do updates. Now, I am not going to waste anymore time with this. Let's get to part two.
Chapter One Hundred and Twenty-Nine
Valentine's Day – Part Two
They were now done having breakfast, and Matt was back up in their bedroom; having just done the dishes downstairs, as he didn't want to just leave the dishes there all day. Well, not all day; he knows that he's going to have to go down soon and make his wife another meal, as she needs to stay fed for the sake of their sons. God, their sons; you have no idea just how happy it makes Matt to finally know the gender of their children, and to just be home with his girl. He wants to be here with her, and he wants to enjoy some quality time with the woman he loves; as they spend the day in bed, on their last Valentine's Day as husband and wife. And that was the real reason why Matt wanted to be here, because he wanted to take advantage of the fact that they're alone one more time; they have nobody here but the two of them, and that was the reason why he was able to walk around in his boxers. (He can't when Gabby's mom is here). Well, he shouldn't at least.
But that was not what the husband was thinking about at the moment, as he was instead thinking about the gorgeous woman who was currently in his bed and just taking it easy today; which is everything that both he and her doctor want her to do right now. According to Gabby, her doctor told her that she wants her to take it easy for a while; at least until her next check-up in a couple weeks. And the truth was, Matt thought that was a good idea too; she's so stressed at times, and Matt hates that. He hates when his wife is stressed, and he knows that stress isn't good for babies. So, that's why he's here now; and it's why he's not going to leave his wife's side if it's the last thing he does. Rather, he's going to make sure to concentrate on Gabby and just be here for her as they take it easy on this beautiful day. And that includes the flowers (which he bought for her this morning), and some nice chocolate that he bought for her while he was in Chicago.
Even better, he got it from the store that she loves more than anything in the entire world; so, he already knows that his wife is going to love it. And that was the exact reaction that he got, the moment he walked into the room with the roses and chocolates this morning. Looking at her loving husband as he walked into their room, just wearing his tight boxers; Gabby smirked as she looked at the beautiful roses that Matt bought for her, along with the chocolate (he didn't bother wrapping it). That's when she noticed what chocolate he bought for her, and she recognized it instantly. "Did you buy that chocolate in Chicago?" Matt smirked when Gabby asked him that. "I was there, and it was Valentine's Day; I knew that you would be furious, if I didn't get you this chocolate while I was there." Gabby laughed as she heard Matt say that, smiling at him; meanwhile, Matt made his way over to Gabby's side table so that he could set the roses and chocolate down this morning.
Setting the roses (that he already put it water) down on her side table, Matt smiled at his beautiful wife before doing the same with her chocolates. "I hope that I get to share in eating the chocolates that I bought in Chicago." Gabby laughed when Matt asked her whether he was going to be able to share in the nice chocolate that he bought for her, while he was in Chicago; at the same time, Matt sat down next to her on the edge of the bed and put his hand on her stomach. "I don't know, I think my husband might have a bit of an issue with another man eating his wife's chocolate." Matt smirked when he heard Gabby say that, loving when they played this game; so, as always, he played along with her. Leaning in, Matt smirked. "Well, maybe this man should have a talk with your boyfriend; and remind him that you're married, and having his babies." Gabby smirked when she heard Matt say that, putting her hand on his face. "And maybe my man should kiss me today."
And kiss her he did, exactly like Gabby wanted her loving husband to do; he just took things nice and slow with her, and gave her exactly what she wanted…especially when he started to ask for entry into her mouth so that he could explore, and so that he could deepen the kiss that they were sharing with each other; after all, that was another thing that Gabby wanted him to do. She wanted him to deepen the kiss, and just kiss her very passionately; and you will never hear Matt complain over the fact that his wife wants him to kiss her, especially when she wants him to kiss her passionately. He loves her more than anything in the entire world, and Matt just loves kissing Gabby; so, he's going to kiss her whenever and wherever she wants to share a kiss with him. "How about you do me a favor?" Gabby looked at Matt when he asked her that. "Slip over in bed? Then, you can get in and kiss me some more." Matt laughed, smiling at his beautiful wife.
He then grabbed her hand and stroked it with his thumb. However, he soon noticed that she wasn't wearing her wedding ring anymore, which concerned him. Was everything okay in between the both of them? Was she mad at him over the fact that he almost missed Valentine's day? Watching as Gabby slipped over in bed, Matt was just paralyzed as he was shocked that Gabby even took off her ring; especially when she said that she doesn't want to ever take it off. Just looking at her husband as he didn't climb into bed with her after she slipped over, Gabby got confused. "Baby, is everything okay?" Matt, deciding not to worry his pregnant wife; just decided to push it to the side, and not bring it up yet. But he knew that was not the right thing, as it was bothering him. He then took a breath and proceeded to grab her hand, ready to show her what exactly was bothering him; and that was the fact that she wasn't wearing her wedding ring at this moment.
"Did you lose it?" Feeling Matt tap the finger that was now empty, as she was not wearing her rings; Gabby already knew exactly what he was referring to when he asked her 'did you lose it?' He was referring to her wedding and engagement ring, the ones that Matt gave to her; and that she promised that she would wear for the rest of her life, which was something that she still plans on doing. However, she just can't do it right now; she can't do it (as much as she wants to), because it hurts to do so. Her fingers have been swelling up so much, that she just can't wear the rings when it hurts so much. Taking a breath, Gabby looked at her loving husband. "No, just come join me. Please, I can explain." Matt just looked at his wife when she said that, shocked at her belief that she can really explain away her not wearing her rings. "You really think that you can just explain this away?" Gabby looked at her husband. "Considering Shay helped buy my engagement ring?"
Matt just thought about it, and agreed that he owed his wife a chance; a chance to explain why she wasn't wearing her rings, one of which was purchased with her (late) best friend's assistance. "Okay, okay." Gabby agreed with Matt when he told her that, before watching as her loving husband; her boxer-clad loving husband, joined her in bed this morning. Climbing into bed with Gabby this morning, Matt just smiled as he decided to get close to the woman he loves; the woman whom he wants to bent the rest of his life holding in his arms as they take things slow with each other, well not right now though. Right now, he wants answers to the question that he posed his wife; and that would be just why she wasn't wearing her wedding ring, when he thought that it was going to be on her finger for the rest of her life. .Just getting close to her, Matt tugged the covers up on top of the both of them this Valentine's Day, before feeling Gabby cuddle up to him.
"Are you okay with me being this close to you right now?" Feeling Gabby put her hand on his chest, Matt nodded and smiled at the woman he loves; however, that didn't mean that he didn't want an explanation. "Yes, you can be close to me like this baby. However, that doesn't mean that I don't want an explanation as to just why you aren't wearing your wedding ring right now; I mean, is it because I did something wrong? Are you mad at me? Because I can…" Gabby just looked at Matt when he said that, just realizing now why he was so worried about the fact that she wasn't wearing her wedding ring. "Matt, no; please, I am so sorry that you thought that way. Please, just take a breath and let me explain; because that's the furthest thing from the truth babe." Even though he was mad at the fact that Gabby wasn't wearing her ring, there was just this sparkle in her eyes that told him that he needs to listen to her; he needs to hear her out, and just hear her explanation.
They have worked things out by talking in the past, and he has no doubt in his mind that this is another one of those situations; another situation in which, they can figure things out by just talking. And if they talk about this, he will learn some things; things that will make the decision that she made much clearer to the husband, along with the reasons behind the decision that she made to not wear her rings anymore. Taking a breath, Matt looked into Gabby's eyes; after which, he leaned in and went to kiss her softly. "Baby, talk to me. Why aren't you wearing your rings right now? If it's not because you're mad at me, then what is it babe?" Gabby took a breath when Matt asked her why she wasn't wearing her rings, because she was a bit embarrassed. "It's a bit embarrassing." Moving closer to Gabby, Matt put his hand on her baby bump and stroked it with her thumb; after which, he pressed his lips against her forehead as he held her in his arms.
"Baby, talk to me and tell me what's going on; tell me, so that I can understand the dilemma that you're dealing with right now." Gabby smiled when she heard Matt tell her that. "It's my rings, they're hurting my fingers; my fingers are starting to swell, which is normal when you're pregnant." Matt just laughed a bit, before shaking his head; however, that was not the response that Gabby wanted to have from her husband. Staring up into his eyes, Gabby looked at her loving husband. "Care to explain why you were just laughing?" Matt smiled as he looked at his beautiful wife. "I just feel like I shouldn't known that, I mean I have noticed the swelling." Gabby agreed with Matt when he told her that he's noticed the swelling, which she was happy about; as it meant that he believed her. "So, you believe me?" Matt nodded as he looked at his girl.
"Hey, of course I believe you Gabby. Don't you dare think that I don't believe you. I believe you more than anybody, and I did promise that I would understand if you told me why; and this is me understanding. Maybe I just shouldn't have laughed then, because I can clearly see now that it wasn't the best response." Gabby agreed with Matt when he mentioned that it wasn't the best response, because it definitely wasn't; rather, it made her confused (as you know) as to whether he believed her or not. But regardless of that, she was grateful for the fact that he believed her; after all, that was exactly what she wanted him to do. She wanted him to believe her, and he does believe her; which is all that she could've ever asked him to do when it came to how she feels. "So, where does this leave us?" Matt was a bit confused when Gabby asked him that question, as he didn't know what she even meant by it. "What do you mean by that babe? Talk to me."
Gabby took a breath as she looked up at her husband. "Are you going to be mad at me or…" Putting his hand on Gabby's neck, Matt shook his head as he leaned in and proceeded to kiss her softly; after which, he took things nice and slow with the most important woman in his world. "Baby, of course I'm not going to be mad at you; and of course I believe you, because it makes total sense as to why you don't want to wear your rings right now. The truth is, I don't want you to wear your rings either." Gabby was a bit taken aback, and quite shocked when she heard Matt say that; as he was just showing concern for why she wasn't wearing them. "Okay, I did not expect you to say that; why exactly have you changed your mind?" Matt smiled when he heard Gabby ask him why he changed his mind (as to her not wearing rings), as it was simple. "I changed my mind because I don't want you to be hurting. If it's hurting you, then I don't want you to wear your rings. It's as simple as that babe." Gabby agreed with Matt as he sand that, because she was very happy that was the case today.
"However, the same can't be said for you; I better see that wedding band on your hand for the rest of your life, no taking it off." Matt laughed as he heard Gabby tell him that, unlike her; he needs to wear his wedding band for the rest of his life, which is something that he is prepared to do. In fact, he's not just prepared to do it; but he wants to do it, as he plans on being married to his beautiful wife for the rest of his life. "Baby, that's my plan. You remember how you asked me last October how I didn't take my ring off the entire summer?" Gabby agreed with Matt when he mentioned the fact that he didn't take his ring off the entire summer, which is something that she thought he was going to do. "Yeah." Matt smiled at his beautiful wife when she said that. "I did it, because I am married; and I didn't like the wedding of it not being on when my wife was so far away. Heck, there are times where I get really sweaty; and I think I could take it off, but I don't."
Matt took a breath, before continuing. "I don't take it off, because I promised you that I would wear it until my dying breath; which is exactly what I plan to do, as I die with you in my arms…surrounded by our children." Gabby smiled when Matt said that, putting her hand on his toned chest before leaning in and kissing him softly. Just taking things nice and slow with the man she loves, Gabby smirked due to the fact that her man truly is the man of her dreams; and he will always be the man of her dreams, as she loves him more than anything. "So, did you like your bath surprise today?" Gabby laughed when Matt asked her if she liked her surprise in the bath, which she very much did. "Oh, I loved the surprise that came with my bath; the surprise of my hunky husband joining me in the bath, because he gives great massages." Pushing a strand of hair behind Gabby's ear, Matt smiled at her. "Just great massages?" Gabby smirked when Matt asked her that.
"Oh, and he's also the best kisser in the entire world." Matt agreed with Gabby as she called him 'the best kisser in the entire world', which is a title that he is proud to hold; after all, he is the only man who will ever kiss the gorgeous woman whom he is currently holding in his arms ever again. "Well, I think that title is mine permanently; because no man will ever be sharing a kiss with you ever again, other than your loving husband." Gabby smirked as she heard Matt tell her that, well aware that was going to be the case. Anyways, it's not like she wants to kiss anybody other than the man she loves; her loving husband, and the father of her children…Matthew James Casey. "Have you ever thought of us having a son named Matthew James Casey, Jr?" Matt just looked at his wife when she asked him that, thinking that she's implying that she wants to change one of their son's names. "Wait, are you thinking of changing the boys' names once again?"
He then started to get worried, as he already bought some personalized cribs. "Because those cribs that we're going to put together…" Gabby just looked at her husband when he said that. "No, no. I am just dreaming of it; I like the name Matteo still because it combines our heritages. It's the perfect mix of your name, and my heritage. Don't worry." Matt just let out a sigh of relief when he heard Gabby say that, as he wasn't going to lie; he was panicking for a bit when it came to him worrying about the fact that she was going to be changing their sons' names. "Sorry, I was panicking a lil' bit; I'm not going to lie to you about that." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, proceeding to grab his hand before stroking it with her thumb; after all, she understands why he would be worried about that. I mean, they both love the names that they have for their children; and he must not want to change them, and she knows about the cribs with their names on it.
"Calm down baby, we aren't changing their names; we both love the names, and I am so glad that we chose them. One of our sons is going to be named after me, and our other son is going to be named after this handsome daddy and his late best friend." Matt took a breath when Gabby mentioned the fact that Andy was his late best friend, a fact that still bothers him to this day; especially when he was a member of his team, and he died under his watch when he was still a Lieutenant on Truck 81. And that was something Gabby understood all too well, as she had to deal with it when Shay died. "Hey, are you thinking about it again baby? The fact that he died under your watch?" Matt took a breath when Gabby asked him said question, because that was definitely something that's been on his mind of late; especially since they learned that they were going to be having boys. "I mean, I won't say that it's not on my mind when we're having twin boys." Gabby agreed.
"Does it make you think of Ben and Griffin?" Matt took a breath, nodding. "Doesn't help that I saw them while I was in Chicago. Turns out, they moved back recently." Gabby was shocked when she heard that they recently moved back, her having not expected that to be the case. "Really? They're living in Chicago again?" Matt agreed with Gabby, smiling at her. "Uhm, Heather started dating again; and she found someone in Chicago, so she moved back so that they could try it out. She said that it's going great, and he's actually a great guy. I think Andy, as creepy as this sounds…he would've approved of him as a father figure for his boys, and for someone Heather can move on with; if that makes sense." Gabby agreed with Matt when he asked her if what he said (about Andy approving of the new guy in Heather and his sons' life) made sense, which it did. "Hey, of course I understand; because I would want the same thing heaven forbid something happen to me."
Matt just shivered at the sound of that, not liking the sound of his wife dying at all; especially not hearing it while she's pregnant. "Okay, next topic. That's definitely not a topic that I like taking about when you're pregnant with our child." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, understanding why that would be the case. "Hey, of course I understand that baby; and I'm sorry that I even mentioned it." Matt agreed with Gabby as he told he that, smiling as he leaned in and then proceeded to kiss his beautiful wife softly. Just taking things nice and slow with his girl, Matt smirked as he looked at her. "God, I have such a beautiful wife, and I love her more than anything in the entire world." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, putting her hand on his cheek before leaning her forehead against his chin; after which, she felt Matt kiss her forehead softly. And that, well it just made her smile; as everything, and every way that he kisses her makes her smile.
The way this man, her man treats her is incredible; and she is so proud to be able to call him her husband, and the fact that she's going to be the only woman who has the honor of calling Matt her husband for the rest of her life. That's just a truth that nobody will ever be able to take away from her, and she's so glad that's the case. She wants to be the only woman who gets to call Matt her husband, and the plan is for that to be the reality for the rest of her life; and she's sure that Matt feels the same way. "Do you think that you could see Heather getting married again?" Matt shrugged when Gabby asked him if he could see Heather getting married again. "Honestly, I'm not sure; and I'm actually still not that comfortable just seeing her with another guy, as it's still weird. It just…it makes me miss Andy more I guess. But I did talk to the boys, and they do like the guy; but they feel the same way as me, so I told Heather about that." Gabby agreed with Matt, nodding.
"Do you think I did the right thing? Telling Heather how Ben and Griffin were feeling, right when she's found happiness again?" Gabby took a breath when Matt asked her that, as she didn't even know how to answer that question that he just posed of her. There's so much to unpack when it comes to that question, that she doesn't want to feel like she's saying the wrong thing; because that's definitely something that worries her, her saying the wrong thing on such a sensitive topic. Yet, she knows that Matt wants answer, especially after his last statement to her. "You're conflicted on what to tell me when it comes to whether I did the right thing or not; aren't you?"
