Chapter Four

Casey Headquarters – Floor 9: Health & Fitness Centre
While the army veteran was perplexed as to just why the meeting that he was supposed to have with his boss, as well as his boss' brother-in-law was cancelled this morning; but the veteran definitely was not complaining, as it meant that he was going to be able to get some more quality time with his wife. And by quality time, he means time in bed with her as they celebrate the fact that they're pregnant. Yes, you heard that right. Jay and Alex Halstead are expecting their first child, as well as their second child; yes, Alex, just like her friends Gabby and Stella, is set to welcome twins this November (they think). But damn, this is crazy; and he's just so confused as to how it happened. Heck, he can barely keep his excitement in as he finds himself standing at the weights in the gym here; and that was something that his wife's friend could tell as he walked into the gym to work out this morning (after all, his wife was currently fast sleep in their bed right now). "Man, somebody looks like their bursting with energy this morning; did you two join in celebrating the arrival of Jacob and Matteo just like Matt wishes he could've done with Gabby last night? Last time I checked, that was not your thing to celebrate."

Jay's POV – Part One:
I snickered a bit when I heard my co-worker (and my wife's friend) say that, as he was well aware that his boss would've definitely loved to take his way in his arms last night; that way, the could've celebrated the birth of their twins. But, that wasn't possible due to the fact that she was in the hospital, and she just gave birth the day before. "Okay, I may have celebrated something; but it most certainly was not the fact that your best friend just became a father." Kelly just looked at me, clearly not believing me at this morning. "If you must know, it was an early birthday celebration; amongst other things." Kelly was confused when he heard me say that, obviously forgetting my birthday. "My birthday is tomorrow. And we just got some news." Kelly just looked at me. "What type of news?" I smiled at my wife's friend. "Uhm, if Matt and Gabby give you guys some clothes…" Kelly just looked at me when I said that, starting to get where I was going with this conversation.

"Holy shit. How far along is Alex?" I smiled. "Get this. Six weeks with twins." Kelly just looked at me when I said that, obviously shocked when it came to just what I just said. "Sorry, did I just hear that right? Did you just say that you and Alex are having twins?" I nodded, agreeing with Kelly when he asked me that; he then smiled as he walked over too me so that he can hug me. "Congratulations man. So, how do you feel?" I just got nervous. "Let's just say this. I'm praying for sons." Kelly just laughed as I said that, well aware why that would be the case. "Well, I can see why that would be the case; then, the clothes that the 22nd floor gets from the 28th floor, can later be sent to the 21st floor." Yes, me and Kelly live in condos that are one above each other. "Yeah, hopefully. But technically, you'll have to go get them at the big house. I heard that Matt and Gabby aren't going to be staying here while the kids are young. Want to have more time away from the office?"

Kelly shook his head when I said that, as that turned out not to be the case. "It's the other way around. Matt doesn't want to commute, nor does he want to get stuck in traffic. So, they're going to stay here so that he can be a call away from Gabby; and it's so that he doesn't have to work in his office all day if he comes here, which would be what happened. You also know that Matt doesn't plan on working all the time right? He's just going to be in the office whenever he needs to be. If he doesn't need to be in the office, then he isn't going to be in the office." I agreed with Kelly when he said that, as that was definitely something that I am well aware of. I mean, what dad doesn't want to be at home with his kids after his wife gives birth. "I also think that it's so that Antonio doesn't complain over the fact that he's away from his family too much." That's when I heard Antonio come downstairs. "What's this about me complaining?" Turning his head, Kelly laughed.

"We were just talking about how Matt and Gabby are probably going to stay here, so that he can keep working…" Antonio shook his head when the both of us said that. "Believe me when I say this, my sister does not want her husband going into the office whatsoever; may I also remind you that they have twins, and she's not going to want our mom to help her take care of the boys when she has a husband who is more than capable of doing it. But that doesn't mean that he isn't going to work." Antonio said as he walked over to the boxing area of the gym, an area that was specifically created for him without a doubt; after all, he is a boxer. And, he is also the brother-in-law of the gym's owner. "God, you must love that you're Matt's brother-in-law; there's no doubt in my mind that he put that in for you." Antonio laughed as I said that, before agreeing with me. "Yeah, he did because he loves me. That, and I told him that I didn't want to have to pay for a boxing gym."

I then watched as Antonio went to grab the keys he had in his pocket. "What's that for?" Antonio then walked up to a little cupboard that was here in the gym, before proceeding to unlock it; opening it afterwards, he revealed some boxing gloves. "God, you must love having the CEO and owner of the building as your brother-in-law." Antonio laughed when he heard Jay say that. "That, and the fact that my sister can easily control her husband." Kelly laughed when Antonio said that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, I know. I have seen her do her routine on her husband firsthand." Antonio then turned to look at the COO of Casey Fire, ready to point something out. "Just like your own wife?" Kelly then realized that, agreeing with his best friend's brother-in-law. At the same time, I went to go grab some more of the weights so that I could work out. "So, have you spoken to Matt and Gabby since they had the boys?" Antonio agreed with me as I asked him that.

"Of course I have, I made sure to talk to them as soon as I could call them. Gabby is now lucid, and she can talk." I agreed with Antonio when he said that. "And she's really tired and was knocked out for a while. Now, I am telling you this; I heard from her that Matt brought his laptop to the hospital. So, if you think that you guys can slack off just because they're at the hospital." Me and Kelly both got nervous when Antonio said that. "He's going to be checking in on us, isn't he?" Antonio agreed, smirking at the both of us. "Last time I checked, your residence was contingent on you guys working." I agreed with Antonio when he said that. "Well, I know that I'm not working tomorrow; I don't care what Matt says." Antonio looked at me when Is aid that. "Excuse me?" I sighed. "It's my birthday, and I took the day off so that I can spend time with Alex." Kelly then went to slap my arm. "And celebrate the best birthday gift, future dad." Antonio just looked at me.

"Future dad? What's this about you being a future dad?" I laughed. "Twins. November or December." Antonio was shocked when I said that, but then he was happy. "God, let's just hope it's boys." I laughed when I heard Antonio say that. "I just said the same thing. I literally told Kelly to save the clothes when Kyle and Ryan are old enough." Antonio then looked at Kelly. "Kyle and Ryan?" Kelly agreed. "We were thinking of doing Kyle and Sam. But Sam Severide didn't sound the best." I agreed with Kelly when he said that, unable to deny that Sam Severide didn't sound like the best name. "Sorry, but I do not like the name either. Sam Halstead, I'm still not into it either." Antonio agreed with me when I said that. "When Matt and Gabby are home, and are settled in with the boys; then you guys should talk to them about baby name ideas, heaven knows that they've been talking about it for the longest time." Kelly agreed with Antonio when he said that.

Kelly's POV:
When Antonio mentioned that Matt and Gabby have been talking about having kids, and possible names for the longest time; I took a breath due to the fact that I was well aware of that fact, as I am his best friend after all. I mean, I still remember the time after they lost their first child; add in how he was after they lost Louie, I just know that this has been something that Matt and Gabby have both wanted to be parents for the longest time; and that was definitely something that I was more than happy for them. They are both really happy over the fact that they're parents, and I can hear that in their voice; heck, I can even read it through their text message. "Honestly, I'm glad this is finally the case. I still remember when he was raising Ben and Griffin, and that was incredible." That was when I heard Heather come down from her condo. "What's this about you remembering when Matt was raising Ben and Griffin?" Turning to look at her, I smiled.

"Oh, I was just thinking about how happy Matt must be right now; being back in that phase of live where he's raising kids." Heather was a bit confused when I said that, until she realized what I was trying to say. "Hold on a second, are you trying to tell me that Matt and Gabby finally had the twins?" I agreed with Heather when she asked me if I was telling her that they finally had the twins. "Yes, they finally had their twins." Turning to look at Heather, Jay smiled. "By the way, how are the boys? Thanks for watching Max last night as I took Alex out for a bit." Heather smiled. "Oh, the boys already told me to tell you that they want to do it again next time you go out with Alex; and that was something that I told Alex when I dropped him off this morning. I just hope that your PTSD was okay last night, because I would've brought him back." Jay agreed with Heather when she said that, smiling as she proceeded to go hug the mother. At the same time, Heather smirked.

"You're watching the boys for me on Friday." Jay was confused when he heard Heather say that. "Uhm, I can't. I have plans already." Heather then went to cross her arms. "Oh really? More important than me going on my first date in years?" I was shocked when I heard Heather say that. "You're going on a date?" Heather agreed with Kelly when Is aid that. "Yes, I am. So, Jay…" Jay then went to speak up. "I'm not doing it, I don't care what you say; because my plans cost thousands of dollars." I turned to look at Jay when he said that. "Uhm, how in the world is that a fact? Wait, you can't travel when your wife is pregnant with twins." Heather then looked at Jay. "Then you…" Jay shook his head. "No, I am not doing that. Not when my brother is flying in from Chicago for my birthday." I turned to look at him. "Will is coming for your birthday?" Jay agreed with me when I said that, before hearing an alarm beep on his watch. "And that's my alarm." I was confused.

"Alarm for what?" Jay then smiled. "My alarm to go take a shower, to pick up my brother in an hour at the airport."

Casey Headquarters – Floor 21: Home of Jay & Alex Halstead
The sight in front of Jay was incredible, the sight of his wife standing in the shower of their condo here in the office; and that was even better, because it meant that he was going to get a chance to wash her before he has to go to the airport and get his brother. But what he didn't yet know was whether Alex wanted to join him. However, there was one thing that he definitely loved right now; the location where Jay was going to be asking his sexy, pregnant wife whether she wants to join him in going to get his brother at the airport. I mean, only after he gets a bit of something on the eve of his birthday; something that he already knows his wife is going to want to give him. Walking into the bathroom of his primary suite, Jay smirked as he went ahead and set down the fresh set of boxers down on the counter next to his wife's lingerie she was going to wear for him; at the same time, he took off his towel and walked over to the shower to join Alex this morning.

God, he wants to hold that gorgeous woman of his in his arms, and he wants to make her feel special; because that's what she is, she's special to him. She'll always be special to him. Hanging up his towel on the hook next to Alex's, Jay smirked as he went ahead and opened the door to the shower to look at his gorgeous wife. Turning around to look at Jay, Alex smirked due to the fact that this is something that she likes to see in the morning. "Hey handsome." Jay smirked when he heard Alex say that. "Hello my beautiful, pregnant wife." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, before smiling at him. "You just going to stand there? Or are you going to join me in the shower, like we both know you want to do?" Jay agreed with his beautiful wife when she asked him whether he was going to be joining her, as that was exactly what he planned on doing right now; he planned on getting in the shower with the woman he loves, so that he can hold her close to him.

Stepping in, Jay smiled. "Okay, first…I need to tell you something." Alex just sighed. "Who did you tell?"

Jay's POV – Part Two:
When Alex asked me who I told (that we were pregnant) while I was downstairs in the gym, I was shocked. I mean, is it that obvious that's the topic that I need to talk to her about? God, I am so screwed now; especially since Kelly is one of the people that I told, one of her friends. "Okay, in my defence; I did it so that I could get people to save their baby clothes." Alex just looked at me when I said that, watching as I got close to her and then wrapped my arms around her. Putting my hands on her butt as she stepped close to me, I smiled when she wrapped her arms around me and kissed me softly. "God, you're lucky that I love you more than anything in the entire world." I laughed, agreeing with Alex as she told me that; after all, I am well aware of the fact that I'm lucky when it comes to the fact that she loves me more than anything. "Oh, I know that I'm a lucky man; especially since your father will never let me forget just how lucky I am." Alex smirked.

"Hey, you're the one that said it this time; that means that I get sex even if we talk about him right now." I shook my head. "Wait, did you tell him already?" Alex agreed with me. "I told him that we're having kids, and that he's stuck with you being in my life for the rest of his life." I smirked when I heard Alex say that, before leaning in and kiss her softly. "Oh baby, I'm already going to be in your life forever; I got you as my wife, and I'm not letting you go. And when we have the kids, that's especially the case; because I don't want my kids to grow up without a father. I know what it's like to grow up with just one parent, and that's horrible." Alex agreed with me as I said that, well ware of just what I was talking about. More specifically, I was talking about how my mother died when I was young. "Maybe we can ask Antonio's mom to be the twins' surrogate grandmother?" Alex smiled when I asked her that, as that sounded great. "I love that idea. But not right now."

I smirked when I heard Alex tell me that. "Is there a reason you don't want me to do that right now?" Alex smirked as she wrapped her arms around my waist, tugging my body against hers this morning. "I want my husband to celebrate with me again." I smirked when Alex told me that, before putting my hands on her neck. After which, I leaned in and proceeded to kiss the woman I love slowly. God, she is so damn sexy; and I truly love her more than anything in the entire world. "God, I love you so much; and I am so glad that this is our life." Alex agreed with me as I said that. "Can you help me with my hair? I've been growing it out, and it's in knots." I agreed with Alex. "Here, give me that comb that you have. That helps." Alex agreed with me as I told her to give me the comb that we have in the shower so that I could wash her hair, as it was going to help me untangle the knots that were in her hair right now; it always works, and I think it will once again.

Going to grab some shampoo, I smiled as I went to put it in her hair while starting to wash Alex's hair for her this morning. And let's just say that it was a nice sight, especially since it gave me a chance to see her naked body from a different view point; I don't get to see her naked body from behind after all. And boy is this body sexy. But there was something I wanted to do before I did that, and that was wrap my arms around her and put my hands on her stomach. "Let's hope that we can have boys. That way, we can have people give us clothes." Alex laughed when I said that, agreeing with me, as she knew that was definitely something that would easily come in handy. Afterwards, I bent down and proceeded to kiss her shoulder softly. "I love you." Alex agreed with me when I said that, well aware of the fact that I love her; that's just something that's so easy to find out, especially when I tell her so much time. "So, what gender do you want to have?" I laughed.

"It'd be easy to have boys, as that can save us a bunch of money." Alex agreed with me when I said that, well aware that would be the case. "Aside from the fact that it would save us money, what's the real gender?" I smiled. "I think I'd like to have daughters, just so that we can have something different. I mean, the Caseys had boys, and Kelly and Stella are going to be having boys; so, I want to have something different than the rest of them. Plus, I like the ideas of my baby girls modelling some of my brilliant wife's designs." Alex laughed as I said that, agreeing with me. "Well, I definitely like that idea." I agreed with Alex as she told me that, smiling as I watched her up this morning. "Are you coming with me to go get Will at the airport?" Alex agreed with me. "Yes, I am. I want to go see your brother right when he gets here." I agreed with Alex, smiling as I continued to run my hands around her body; the body that I made love to the night before, and it was great.
