Princess Zelda's POV
In the depths of the castle, hidden away from the prying eyes of Ganondorf's minions, I struggle to maintain my resolve. I am imprisoned in my own castle, my freedom stripped away. My once regal appearance is now marred by the weight of my captivity, my royal garments tattered and worn.
My days are filled with the same grim routine. If Ganondorf does not request me to be present in the throne room, then I am confined to my small room in the basement. The room is sparse, furnished with little more than a bed, a table, and a chair. There is a small, barred window that serves as my only view of the outside world. The air down here is very damp and cold, a constant reminder of my imprisonment.
Despite my harsh conditions, I refuse to succumb to despair. I spend my time meditating and reading history books, hoping to come across something that can help us defeat Ganondorf. It might seem futile but I know that as long as I remain strong, there is hope for Hyrule. The Triforce of Wisdom still burns within me, a beacon of light in the darkness.
Thankfully, I have been able to use one of my lady's maids to send messages to allies who continue the fight against Ganondorf's tyranny. I try to give them as much information as I can gather on him and his troops' movements. In return, they have been able to provide me words of support, and positive news from the world outside my room.
One evening, as I am reading through a novel on local legends, I hear the faint sound of footsteps approaching my door. I tense, knowing that it could either be a rare visit from the dark king himself, or one of his minions coming to torment me.
The door creaks open, and in steps Dark, Ganondorf's favorite creature of darkness. His presence fills the room with an oppressive weight, his eyes glowing with a sinister light..
"Princess," his voice filled with cold authority. "Ganondorf grows impatient with your defiance. He demands your cooperation."
I met his gaze. "I will never bow to him. Hyrule's spirit cannot be broken, and neither can mine."
He raises an eyebrow. "You should reconsider giving him the triforce of wisdom, Zelda. While it may seem to you that Ganondorf is a patient man, I can assure you, he is not. His power grows stronger every day and it won't be long before he can take what he wants from you by force"
I lift my chin high, standing firm. "No matter how powerful he becomes, no matter how he threatens me, I will never betray my people."
A flash of something—pain, regret—passes through his eyes, but it is gone as quickly as it came. "Very well," he says, his voice a little softer. "But know this, Princess, your time is running out."
I study his face, seeing the torment he hides behind his stoic facade. "Why do you care, Dark? You serve him, don't you? Why warn me?"
He hesitates, looking away as if searching for the right words. "Link," he finally says, his voice barely above a whisper. "He wanted to keep you safe. I... I owe it to him."
The mention of the fallen hero sends a pang through my heart. I lower my voice, softening my tone. "Link believed in you. He saw a glimmer of hope within you, a light you refuse to see in yourself."
His expression hardens, the fleeting vulnerability replaced by cold resolve. "I am what I am. Link is dead and all hope is lost, it's time you accepted that."
I step closer, my heart aching for the tortured soul before me. "It is never too late. There is always a way back to the light."
He shakes his head, a bitter smile on his lips. "Perhaps for you, but not for me."
As the door closes behind him, I take a deep breath, steeling myself for the challenges ahead. I know that Ganondorf's power is growing, and that my own strength is limited. But as long as there is breath in my body, I will continue to fight.
In my heart, I hold on to the belief that the hero's spirit can never truly be extinguished. I have faith that somewhere, somehow, the light will return to Hyrule, and the kingdom will be free once more. Until that day comes, I will stand as a symbol of resistance, a beacon of hope in the darkest of times.
