Hi and happy summer! My summer classes will soon be over, but meanwhile, I ended up having a new idea! Though it's a little bit different. It's a crossover but not at the same time? An AU then? It's basically my take on Detective Conan with elements from the series Erased (Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi). Now, normally people who write will go for the more obvious characters like Shinichi/Conan or Kaito or any of the Gosho Boys to have some mysterious experience that is outside of what they usually deal with. But for this fic, I decided to go with main Gosho girl, Mouri Ran.
I should just let you read now! Enjoy!
Title: The Mistakes That Have Become Undone
Type: Story - Multi Chapter - BUT Keeping This A One Shot
Summary: Her mom told her it was déjà vu, a feeling that you've been there when you've never been at all. But Mouri Ran knew better. Her mom and dad would never understand. She had been in that place before, a few times over already. She had lived and relieved the same moment over and over. When she finally did the right thing, they all could finally leave.
Idea: Detective Conan x Erased (Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi) Crossover? AU? Taking Detective Conan and telling the story with Erased elements.

When she was little, Mouri Ran asked her mom a question. She asked, "Mom, didn't we just go here earlier?"
Her mom told her no, but they visited a similar place before. She didn't understand. So her mom clarified that what she felt was probably a sense of déjà vu, a feeling that you've been there when you've never been at all. It's just familiar because you've visited somewhere just like it.
But Mouri Ran knew better. Her mom and dad would never understand. She had been in that place before, a few times over already. She had lived and relieved the same moment over and over. When she finally did the right thing, they all could finally leave.

Mistakes. Whether little or big, they happen. One mistake, one choice made, it can cause a whole chain of messes down the line in the future. Somehow, she wasn't surprised that they would catch up with her beloved mystery otaku boyfriend. But at the same time, she was. She always joked with him, "Shinichi, one day you running off into a mystery is going to get you killed."
Truer words were never spoken as she saw him, inches away from her on the floor of the agency, his clothes beginning to stain in that color she was all too familiar with on a crime scene, red. He was panting hard, eyes unfocused, body releasing steam. His lips uttered the same words over and over, "Ran, I'm sorry. I should have told you the truth. It's all my fault."
He was making little sense. What exactly was he sorry for? Was it this case that kept him away for so long? Why wasn't the ambulance here yet? She knows that she called it minutes ago. Then, she saw his body shrink as he bit his lips, refusing his cries to be released. Ran was shocked as she watched her beloved shrink into the familiar body of a child, Conan.
Her panicking thoughts were interrupted when his now tiny hand grabbed onto Ran's arm, his breaths getting deeper as he whispered his last words to her, "Ran… Run away from here. Ran… I love you…" He breathed his last in her arms and he was still. She wanted to be mad, to cry, to scream, to resuscitate him right then and there, but she had no luxury. Gun shots were soon heard as the clangs of shattering glass fell to the floor of the Mouri Detective Agency. She had no option but to run, run and bolt for the fire escape and find a safe place. She was leaving Shinichi behind, but she couldn't do anything about it. She had to stay safe, that was his last request.
Ran dodged every fire, running and running till she made it to the ground. The firing of bullets was still going on, but so many thoughts raced within her mind. Why was this happening? What went wrong? Shinichi… Why? Why did you leave me? What did you get yourself into? Is this that case that you've been working on? Is this why you couldn't come home? What did you do?
"Why? Why! Shinichi! Why did this happen to you!?" She screamed that at the top of her lungs as she stopped running. Her eyes closed and filled with tears. Everything around her began to feel numb, the bullets whizzing past lost their pitch as the sky boomed with a thunderous roar. It's warnings of an approaching storm drowned out her senses.
Then, everything was quiet. She felt like she was falling forward, time felt slow as this happened. The fall seemed to never end until she plummeted onto the floor. But unlike the concrete of the alleyway streets she was expecting to graze her face upon, it was soft and slightly fuzzy.
"Oi! Ran! Are you okay?"
'Conan?' She absentmindedly thought as she adjusted her arms to push herself up. Her body felt weird, almost shorter. Her limbs felt less controlled as she struggled to sit up. Did she hit the ground harder than she thought? When she finally got herself into a sitting position, she looked up and saw a familiar young boy in a white tank top and blue shorts.
"Ran, are you hurt?"
"I'm fine Conan-kun…" She paused before she panicked again, "Conan, we have to run! Shinichi, he… he…"
"What about me?"
Ran shook a little, her eyes going wide with disbelief. "We're not safe here! They're shooting guns and we…"
"Ah ,Ran-chan! Did you have a nightmare?" A new and very familiar voice sweetly rang before changing to a scolding tone. "Shinichi! Didn't I tell you not to watch the late night crime shows? Ran had a nightmare because of you!"
"But okaa-san!"
"No! Otou-san may let you when you're with him, but I won't. Especially since Ran is here with us on vacation to the beach. She's not like you Shin-chan!"
Ran was shaken by what she was witnessing. She wasn't in the alleyways escaping the bullets, she was in a hotel room. In front of her wasn't her sweet honorary brother Conan-kun who she just remembered was actually her boyfriend, but someone nearly identical looking to him, young Shinichi who was being scolded by his much youthful looking mom Yukiko-onee-chan. It was when she finally looked down at herself, she saw not her teenage body but her child one from about ten years ago.
As she looked herself over, the two looked at her worriedly. "Ran-chan, are you hurt?"
She snapped her head up to look at the retired actress mother, "Oh no, I guess it was a dream." She was soon embraced in a warm bear hug from Shinichi's mother. She hummed a sweet melody and Ran felt calmed by it.
"Shin-chan, go on and get ready first. Don't forget to brush your teeth."
"Haii…" Shinichi was hesitant to leave Ran, but trusted his mom to comfort her from her nightmare. He'd apologize later for convincing her to watch the crime show later.
While Ran was wrapped in her hug, she gathered herself and thought carefully about the situation. She was a little girl again, in the past most likely. But why? Then, she remembered, her special gift. The one that had stopped working when she met Shinichi. The one that started again when she got home from Tropical Land and she found herself reliving the same conversation about him with her dad. The one that worked every once in a while from the day Conan-kun came into their lives and nearly got hurt, but she was able to protect him instead because she was given another chance to change the outcome. Her power to change a moment in time.
Maybe, she was brought here for a reason. She was sent way back to the past because of Shinichi's case. But this was the biggest jump in time than she's ever experienced. But maybe, this was the place it all started? If not started, then the best place where she could make an impact? Whatever happened to cause Shinichi to be involved, to leave her for long periods of time with no way of knowing when he'd be back, of seeing him almost sickly every time they met, for him to eventually become Conan-kun… She may not be a detective like him or detective-minded their parents, but the experience of ten years may prove to work in her favor at least. A fire was lit inside her, burning with determination.
It was her chance to step up and fix her mystery otaku, deduction freak, beloved detective boyfriend's mistakes and undo what was done.

Sub-Ideas: Mouri Ran's Turn To Be The Detective
- Girl with an unusual power.
- Basically same power as Satoru Fujinuma in Erased.
- Before Shinichi, Time loops around her in a repeat until she does something to help fix a mistake.
- After Shinichi, all the mysteries mostly got solved by him or his family. So Ran's power rarely or never really happened.
- After Conan shows up, her powers would come back but only when there was true danger. Mostly to save Conan.
- One day, probably a BO Takedown gone wrong, she finds Shinichi battered, bruised, and shot. He speaks his last words before he passes and Ran is in shock.
- She doesn't understand what's happening or why, but all she knows is that she's running for her life from bullets firing at the agency, unable to process what happened.
- The next thing she knows is she wakes up as a child again more than 10 years ago, there with Little Shinichi, his mom, and they're in a hotel room.
- This is around the days that they first met Masumi Sera and her family. Why that day? Canonically, that's the best place that Ran had any contact with a soon to be organization member and can start a plan of action to prevent Shinichi's intended death. (Unless I forgot another day.)

You're probably wondering why I chose Erased, maybe? To be honest, I think it would be interesting for Ran to be in Shinichi's shoes, but in a different way. Erased, it gives an opportunity for that, don't you think? Yes, I realize now, this just ended up being a 'What if Ran was the one who was ten years younger' type of story. Before you ask, this is just a one shot. I don't plan to continue this anytime soon.
It's not much, but I hope it was interesting. If you like it, feel free to expand on idea! Other than that, thanks again for reading!
