I have been revisiting my writings that were written so long ago and have been cleaning them up now. One of these happened to be for this Shinichi has always had glasses idea. These originally were part of my idea sorting when I was trying to start a new story which became the two drabbles you saw on the first chapter. This here is longer, it's a ficlet, I think? Anyway, it's a bit of a view of how others see and think about Shinichi with glasses. Well, I won't keep you any longer, enjoy!

Title: Stubborn Sight

Type: Story - Ficlet (I think?) - 500 Words

Summary: "I can see perfectly fine without them." He says right before he ran into the wall.

Idea: How do others see and think about Shinichi with glasses?

Kudo Shinichi, those who hear the name in Tokyo alone know just who he is and his outstanding reputation. He's the famed Great Detective of the East, the Heisei Holmes, and even soon the Reiwa Holmes as the new era approaches. Everyone knew of his cunning, his wit, his brilliance, his skill. Some even know of his gifted abilities in Soccer that got him scouted for the J-League soccer team back in middle school. To be scouted that early, that was almost unheard of. But his goals were elsewhere, and that is being a great homicide detective, one who pursues the one truth.

Now this is what everyone knows, but there are some who contribute their opinions of his prodigious stature to one thing. He has, for as long as everyone knew of him or personally knew him, always worn glasses. You could say that a lot of people believed in the stereotype that only the smart and intelligent people wore glasses. So his contributions to society just seemed to solidify and validate those claims all the more. Very rarely did one ever see his face so raw and without the large black frames he wore, even his closest friends.

Those he hung out with the most, Mouri Ran and Suzuki Sonoko, often saw him wear those goofy oversized looking frames. They would often ask, "Why don't you take those off?" Cause the boy wore them just about everywhere. He wore them in the bathroom, in the hot spring, at the beach, even when he fell asleep. There was hardly ever a time when his face was left exposed without his glasses. It was made even worse when he first began playing soccer and he exchanged those glasses for these massive goggles to be able to play and see; they just about obscured his face.

Shinichi always remind the girls, as well as anyone who ever asked, "Ran, you know I can barely see a thing without them. Been that way since I can even remember."

Sonoko would often joke about them saying, "Don't you know you looks absolutely ridiculous? I mean, are you trying to be the next main character of an upcoming Digimon Anime? Or look like the main leads Yagami Taichi, or Kudou Taiki?" Ran didn't really ever know what her best friend was talking about and silently wondered if she was secretly a super fan? Shinichi would only give a questioning stare, given he never gave his time to watch anime and instead dove into his books, violin, or soccer practice.

His mother, Kudo Yukiko, would often say he got his father's bad eyesight or worse, since his glasses were slightly thicker than his. He could see through his dad's, Kudo Yusaku's, glasses just fine, but there were some details that were lost or blurry than if he wore his own glasses. All in all, everyone could come to one agreement about Shinichi's glasses, without them obscuring his face; he was definitely a lot more unrecognizable.

Sub-Ideas: How others see Kudo Shinichi

-People associating him with the glasses are for smart people stereotype.

-His face is weirdly obscured by his glasses because they are astoundingly thick.

-Ran and Sonoko are curious how he looks without them, but they never get that opportunity... that is, until he shrinks.

-His eyesight is much worse than his dad's.

-Hiding his face from the inattentive eye could be so easy for him.

Yep, this is something I wrote way back, but I just left it sitting before I decided to clean it up and share it. It is fun to imagine the story still, one in where his no glasses is his advantage to his disguise as Conan. It's just a little change, but it could impact the story in a big way, especially in how everyone seems to think about Shinichi. Well, that's all I got here, thank you for reading this! See you on another idea!
