"Urg~." That's the first thing that Gales is able to get out when he drops down, his bottom resting against one of the available benches that were scattered across the city square. "I'm tired…" The youth muttered as he raised a mug to his lips and just stared forward. Attention not really focused on anything or anyone at the moment. Still; even though he wasn't really paying attention to anything, that didn't change what was going on right now.
Harribel found itself in an uproar of sorts, not the bag kind, but that didn't mean it was any less noisy.
It's been only a few hours since everyone made it back from the wilds, the expedition to track down the invading Deviljho only ending in their favor thanks' to Ignia's intervention. Seeing that the Great Devourer was no more, everyone saw it as a good opportunity to celebrate.
For real though, he didn't blame them; after all everyone came back alive, sure they were in varied stages of exhaustion, but they came back alive. That was all that mattered. Sometimes people aren't that lucky.
Taking a drink from his mug, Gales just closed his eyes and let the moment pass as warm liquid hit his tongue and travel down his throat.
Garm rested his head on his leg, looking up at him to get attention and was rewarded with a ruffling of his fur. On reflex, Garm's tail started to wag, and that naturally brought a smile to his Hunter's face.
"You seem at peace." Hearing a voice Gales looked up and saw a familiar face in front of him. "It's been a while, hunter."
"Aleya, hey." Gale's smile brightened as he saw the girl, a mug of sorts in her hand as she decided to settle down next to him. "How you been? I haven't seen you since the boat docked a few weeks ago."
"Yes well, I've been busy." The girl admitted taking a drink from her mug. "And given what I've heard, so have you."
"Comes with the job."
"No doubt." Aleya agreed as she leaned back in her seat and smiled. "How was it, by the way."
"How was what?"
"The expedition." Gales paused as he seemed to think. "Was it all you thought it might be?"
"Pretty much as I expected." Gales admitted. "Spent more time tracking the beast down than actually fighting it." He paused as he seemed to think. "So, about the same as when I was training."
"Oh?" Aleya tilted her head as she gave Garm some attention. "So you were prepared for this."
"Eh~" Gales gave her this half-hearted wave with his hand. "Sort of." He lowered his mug as he gave Aleya his full attention. "So, what have you been doing since we docked anyway? Anything exciting?" Aleya just chuckled.
"Not even remotely."
"Well, that sucks." Gales grumbled. "Still, what have you been doing?"
"Nothing more than doing as duty dictates."
"Right, but what exactly is your duty again?" Aleya just gave him a smile.
"It's hard to explain…" She paused. "Well, it's not hard to explain to those who aren't familiar with it but." She stared down at the mug in her hands. "Even if we do explain, people tend to mistake us for something else."
"How so?" Gales set his mug down as he looked at Aleya.
"Well…" Aleya paused. "I don't think it's something you need to concern yourself with." Aleya stated. "At least, not tonight." She admitted. "It's a night of festivities after all, no point in ruining it with thoughts on 'work'." She looked back at Gales. "Maybe tomorrow we can talk about it, considering you can find me."
"Is that a challenge of some kind?"
"Take it as you will." Aleya stated as she looked ahead, her attention turning to see that instruments were being brought out. "Looks like the festivities are about to really start." She notes before getting to her feet and offering a hand to Gales.
"Hm?"
"Dance with me." Gales just blinked as he stared at the hand for a moment and smiled.
"Ain't I supposed to make that request?" Aleya just smiled
"Well, you're a little slow on asking." Gales just laughed slightly as he took Aleya's hand as he got to his feet.
"You're lucky you're pretty." Is all he says as Aleya pulls him onto the rapidly filling dance floor.
"Ah~" Luminia made a noise as she downed another mug of ale with a smile on her face. "This is just what I needed." She stated as she leaned back in her seat and stared ahead, looking at the townsquare and its inhabitants. "Gotta say I'm amazed they managed to get all this together in so little time." She admitted as she looked to the side, her attention turned to see her counterpart. "How's the ale Dyn?" Dyn, her partner, seemed less interested in the drink than everyone else, his gaze hidden by the table he was resting on as he covered his head.
"Not so loud…" Dyn grumbled as he peeked out from under his arm. "I've already got a headache, I don't need you yelling at me."
Luminia just laughed. "Oh yeah, I forgot how much a lightweight you were." The girl stated as she downed another drink."Either way, if you think it's gonna get loud now, just wait till the music starts." Dyn just groaned as he looked elsewhere. "Oh - spoke too soon."
"I need some water." The figure muttered as he got up and left his ale behind, giving the halk enough time to land and start drinking from his mug. Luminia just started smiling.
"Careful Umbra. You know what that stuff does to you." Without a word Dyn pulled his once abandoned mug away as Umbra jumped for a moment before screeching at the boy.
"You're not belching fireballs tonight…" He told the halk as he returned to his seat and just looked outward as he drank from his fresh water.
"You see her?"
"Yeah…" Dyn grumbled as he stared at Aleya before returning to his drink.
"Who's she with?"
"Don't know." He remarked. "Don't really care either." He admitted as he rubbed his eyes. "God damn it, I'm going to be feeling this tomorrow."
"Really?" Luminia smiled. "Must suck not being able to hold your liquor." She remarked as she emptied her mug. "So… we finally got a message sent our way." She remarked. "How do you want to do this?"
"We wait a bit longer…" Dyn grumbled as he drank more water. "We wait at least until my headache disappears.
"Looks like we came to town at just the right time." Siegfried admitted as he looked down at the port city beneath the upper levels of a building, he just continued relaxing, taking in the sights as he did. "And you thought we might not get another moment to unwind."
"Yes well." Morgana smiled as she looked at her counterpart. "There's nothing wrong with being wrong." She admitted as she looked down at the festivities. "Still, do you plan on going down? Everyone looks like they're having fun dancing."
"Yeah well~" Siegfried began. "Gonna have to pass, I'm afraid." He stated. "I don't think anyone wants to dance with the man in the iron mask."
"You never know." Morgana stated looking down. "Not unless you try." The woman stated. "So~ when shall we get started?"
"Obviously, when the party's over." Siegfried stated. "No reason to ruin tonight for everyone." Getting to his feet Siegfried did this littles stretch as he started walking off. "Anyway, I'm gonna swipe some food for Fafnir, you want me to get you something?"
"No thank you." Morgana stated. "Unlike you, I plan on joining in on tonight's activities." Morgana stated. "So if you'll excuse me."
"Please, go right ahead." Siegfried smiled at her. "Don't let me hold you up."
