Chapter 35 and Intermission 4! This time, a certain lion is getting an overdue talking-to from his mate's father(Good luck, Kion…). Enjoy!

"Alrighty guys, we're going to have another break." Spirit announced, and everyone promptly made their way to the break room. Kion grabbed himself a snack and went to chat with his friends, not knowing that a pair of lions were watching him from across the room.

"Kion seems like a good young lion." Sahasi mused. "Yes, and he makes our daughter so happy." Ananda added. "It's high time I gave him that talk." "Hasi, be nice to him." His mate warned. "I will, I will. I just want to make my point clear." He placated her.

Sahasi left his spot and padded over to where the young lion in question was sitting. He cleared his throat, causing Kion to turn his head and look at him. His eyes widened when he realized who this was.

"Oh, uh, hello. You're Rani's dad, right?" "Yes. I would like to speak with you. Alone."

Kion audibly gulped and followed him to an empty part of the room.. "Good luck, Kion." Bunga called. "I think he's gonna need it." Fuli winced.

"So you are the young lion who has won my Rani's heart." Sahasi began, but noticed Kion looked tense and a little nervous. "Relax, I'm not going to harm you. My mate and daughter would not be happy with me if I did." He chuckled. Kion breathed a sigh of relief.

"However…" Kion tensed again. "I just want to make sure of a few things." Sahasi explained.

"Like what?" Kion tentatively asked.

"Do you truly love my daughter? And do you promise to never intentionally do anything to harm her, physically, mentally, or emotionally? And to treat her like the princess- sorry, queen- that she is?" Sahasi inquired with a stern face. Kion took a breath to calm his nerves before answering.

"Sahasi, sir. I really do love Rani. She's as fierce as I am, yet kind-hearted and has the patience I only wish I had. She's smart, beautiful, an excellent leader, and, well.. in all honesty, she's my other half. As my sister said, we are one. Sisi ni sawa.

We've both helped each other become better lions, and though I never thought I'd be a king since I'm the youngest, I'll gladly rule by her side.

I would never do anything to hurt her. I know I sent Baliyo flying with the Roar when we first arrived-sorry about that-but I've since been healed and have mastered the Roar thanks to your family and Askari. So she won't be sent flying, if that's what you're concerned about.

I can tell you that she loves me just as much as I love her. Granted it wasn't love at first sight, but it's still real. I wouldn't have this mark on my shoulder or paint on my head if it wasn't. I'll be there for her when she needs it, and she'll be there for me. Until the Pride Lands and Tree Of Life end."

The young lion waited for Sahasi to grill him with more questions, but instead the bigger lion smiled warmly at him.

"That's all I needed to hear. You're a good lion with a good heart, and I trust you. You will be a great king. But if you harm her so help me I will haunt you from the clouds. Understood?"

"Uhhh, yes. Understood loud and clear." Kion blanched, making Sahasi chuckle. The laughter was infectious as the younger lion started laughing as well, and they took a moment to compose themselves before returning to the main part of the break room.

"That was just beautiful, Kion." Beshte sniffed. "Oh, uh, you guys heard all that?" Kion blushed. "Yup." Anga confirmed.

"I heard it too, and I agree with Beshte." Rani padded up to him and licked his cheek. He nuzzled her in return.

"But wait, why were you giving that whole speech to my- Dad, what did you do?" Rani narrowed her eyes at her father.

"I just made it clear that if he hurts my little princess he's getting a lightning bolt to his-" "DAD!" "Sahasi!" Janna scolded.

"Kidding, kidding! I just had a little talk with him. Nothing more, Princess." Sahasi placated his daughter. "You know it's Queen now, right?" "Yes, but you'll always be my little princess to me." Father and daughter nuzzled.

Kovu bumped Kion's shoulder on their way back to their spots. "Way to go for getting through that, Kion. You did pretty well."

"Thanks, Kovu. I was really nervous back there. Were you the same way with Dad?" Kion wondered.

"He was a nervous wreck when Dad gave him that talk." Kiara interjected. "Hey, I had an excuse after everything that happened! Especially after the last time he'd had a talk with me." Her mate replied.

"Fair enough." Kiara conceded. "Remember when Sarabi's father had that talk with you?" Scar smirked. "Don't even go there, Taka. Don't even go there." Mufasa grumbled.

Kion survived the dreaded father-in-law talk, everybody! (Spirit and Dusty cheer) Now get ready for some cub-raising chaos coming next chapter! I hope you enjoyed!
