Hi, fyi I got this idea based on CarlyTheLlama's Worldbender series (the early ones at least) and while the backstory is the same the idea that a girl gets pulled into Miraculous is the basic premise and everything you recognize belongs to either her or the Miraculous team.
There isn't much miraculous in the first chapter but this is necessary context. And the beginning
ILYSM ~ Chase
Naia sat in her chair off to the side of the table where her foster father was confirming the scripts for their TV show. It had become common practice for her to sit in on these meetings and come to work with him. After 4 years of after school trips to his office to help brainstorm and develop these 'ideas' from her 'dreams' she was considered an honorary script developer among the company and even though they couldn't hire her they had an agreement with her dad that he would get a bonus in each payment he received to give to her.
Naia always insisted that her dreams weren't that. Because Naia could always remember them, well technically she had an eidetic memory so that was understandable, but she had these during the day too. Ever since Naia was little she'd hated her gift because it scared people away from her, she couldn't help it. When she met someone she could see all the ways their life would turn out, and she had met very few decent people. Her parents had, from the time that she could read and walk and understand them, ground into her the mentality that she was alone in the world while also forcing her to believe that if she didn't have them, she would die. Her knowledge of the future scared them and made them greedy, they wanted to use her for twisted, selfish plots.
Every day for 3 years, Naia would be locked in a 1 meter by 2 meter room with book upon book she was forced to read until she was smarter than possible and when it reached noon, she was given a tightly controlled meal, not too much, every part designed to give her energy, avoid building up fat and help build muscle. she trained and trained for hours until she could fight with precision accuracy and agility. Then she washed up without help and would lay in darkness until she fell asleep. 7 hours later, at 5 am, she would awake and the cycle would repeat.
Until at age Seven, suddenly, with no warning, Naia woke up in the forest with only the jeans, the t-shirt and the walking boots she had on. She had walked for hours, evaded wild creatures and struggled against her body going into shock at being in a completely different environment, but on a bright day, the Austruc family saw a small girl stumble out of the woods and collapse.
Naia spent days in the hospital, because according to the government, she didn't exist. Her parents had never registered her birth. The Child Protection Services immediately added her to their systems and with help from the hospital and they identified just who and how bad her parents were. They met the same end that Naia Zira Calisto had first predicted at age 4.
Curiously, the young girl had managed to develop a personality that was not equal to her parents. After some investigation the best theory that officials could come up with was that she had combined her parent's expected image of herself with the "ideal person" that she had formed from reading such diverse books as well as developing an 'empathetic other' which was how they referred to what they refused to believe was the ability to see the future. They did not believe her about that despite her being sharper than all of them and every other thing she had said being true.
It was as if they thought she had come out too perfect despite her abuse and needed to find something wrong with her. So despite her protests Naia was shunted into Ellisdenta care home where the only happiness she found for three years, were weekly visits from the couple that had taken her to the hospital. Thomas and Andromeda were gifts from the creator of the universe to Naia and they were a comfort that she didn't know she needed. Most of the time Thomas would come on his own, he spent a lot of time between jobs while he worked on his personal projects whereas Andromeda had a full time job as a real estate agent. Naia liked them both but Thomas was her favourite. When he visited Naia spoke about her visions as if they were stories from another world, she didn't really care that he didn't think it was her telling him fragments of the future because he wasn't scared or manipulative. The man was upfront and uplifting, he and Naia together came up with the finalized concept for miraculous ladybug 5 months before she had moved in with the Austrucs and their bratty daughter Alkaliba.
5 Years later, Naia was sat in a conference room watching as her foster father presented the final drafts for seasons 2 and three of their show, Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. She was no stranger to this room, she had probably spent a good six weeks of disjointed time in it as they created Miraculous but today she felt unnerved. One man who she had known was a member of he team for years but had never really talked to was staring at her. He was small and looked as if he was older than the queen but was still lively and a little crazy. Naia knew the dress code was relaxed but she always saw him wearing a red Hawaiian shirt under a black blazer. It was the same one her father had designed Master Fu as wearing but that wasn't what unnerved her. The girl could always sense him but knew nothing about him, she didn't know his name, what he did or - and this was scary for her - his futures. Naia was unnerved and she did not like to be unnerved.
When Naia and Thomas were driving home they were playing their usual bonding game, 20 questions, typically it was about their time they had spent separate that day but there were some odd ones out, such as today Naia had asked something to do with the show.
"Why did we make only one season at first, but then we made the second and third at the same time?"
"Because although we were convinced that it would be a great show, not everyone on else was. We made the first season to make sure it was popular, left it on a cliffhanger to keep people interested and now we are giving them as much as we can while trying to keep up with the demand. My turn! Why don't you want to be adopted yet?"
Naia shifted her weight warily, "It's not that you're not family, it's just that part of me feels like if you're officially my family, slowly you'll become more like them because you have complete control of me."
Thomas pulled over to assure her to the contrary but when he had stopped and turned to face her he was met with an unfamiliar sight.
His daughter in all but blood was clutching at whatever she could reach and her carbon colored eyes seemed to be staring through him unseeing yet still as if she saw something terrifying. Naia had never been scared of anything since he'd met her, so the shaky tone he heard from coming out of her mouth struck him dumb with fear as he was powerless to do anything but listen as she said:
"The world of balance is soon to tip
Harmony is lost if not for foresight
Through the despised imposter
Peace will be brought to the world
The peace bringer helped to mold."
Naia's eyes refocused and she curled up in her seat. "Dad, my ideas aren't just dreams. I've told people I see futures and they never believed me, I knew what could be my fate and I need you to believe me, I can't see my fate any more. I'm blind to the future for the second time in my life and I'm scared. I got lucky last time but this isn't like last time. Please believe me, we made miraculous because I saw them and knew nothing like it had ever been known before. Please."
The man she had come to view as a father unbuckled his seatbelt, opened his car door, walked to the other side of the door. He pulled his daughter out of the car and hugged her with all his strength, she hugged back and let herself cry for the first time in her life.
"I believe you."
"I love you dad."
Thomas pulled away and Naia looked up at him, "Honey, I want to know, you said this is the second time you've been blind to the future, would it help to tell me what the first time was?" He sat down on the edge of the grass by the road and motioned for her to join him.
She sat down and began to talk as the tears poured down her face, " When I was abandoned. I didn't even realize that I had gone blind because my life had literally been so stop, start, repeat that I wasn't searching for anything. The night before I woke up in the forest I dreamt about, about you? I saw you and Andromeda and the then, baby Alkaliba before things went black, like normal. My life had been so bleak that only my reading had me aware that I wasn't living normally but I was resigned to it. And then, I just woke up, dressed, in a forest when I had never even seen the sun without a screen between me and it."
The silence stretched between them before they sat back in the car and drove back home. As they pulled into the driveway Thomas spoke softly.
"I still have one question from our game. Why do you call me dad but not Andy mom?"
Naia smiled a small smile, "I call her Andromeda or Andy because she treats me like an anomaly. She knows in theory that I'm okay and she is technically my mother but on a subconscious level, compared to her own daughter I'm like a stepchild. You and I have properly bonded but she had a literal connection to Alki, she in Andy's eyes will always be the first child and the favourite because the effort was so much more and so she views the rewards as larger. She cares about me, I don't doubt that. But I'm still not even adopted."
2 months later Naia was sat on the sofa on a free day from school watching Miraculous. Her bratty sister made sure she could never watch it without background music on the form of 'Alkaliba's Symphony of bitching' She hated that I was dad's favourite despite me being "not even a part of my family you freak!"
Season 2 episode 1 was coming out in 2 weeks and she was getting ready to see her knowledge visualized. The girl reached for an apple slice, her old habits were still around. She may have gotten better at maintaining a more rounded diet but she still couldn't stomach a lot of sugar. She still trained and read too, but now she also sung, played the guitar, wrote in many different styles and drew on the regular. How did she do this and create a TV show simultaneously? She didn't know but she suspected it had to do with how she was raised to adapt and compartmentalize.
Naia was just reaching the end of 'Volpina', she wished she could have erased Lila from the show but Thomas had insisted that she would make a great antagonist for the show, this of course was before he knew that this show was part of her future and he had accidentally forcibly guaranteed that his daughter would face a manipulative, psychotic, compulsive liar who held a grudge better than his other daughter.
Naia was still blind to her future and it was starting to pull her into a depression which was a very odd feeling for the girl to experience. Tikki had just told Marinette it was time for her to meet the guardian but instead of transitioning to Adrien the screen went static.
Only it wasn't normal, for one she was watching on Netflix and Netflix didn't have static and 2, there was something hypnotic about how the pixels changed colour and fizzled. There was this rhythmic drone strumming in the back of her head she got up from the sofa and as if being tugged by a string, walked towards the screen. Subconsciously she noticed a myriad of things.
The bowl of fruit she had been eating was on the floor,
Her dad was pulling into the drive,
Her hand was stretching out in a similar manner to sleeping beauty's in the old Disney movie,
The TV was really far away from the sofa
One of the lines from, what she now recognized as a prophecy, she had spewed out two months ago was replaying through her head.
"Through the despised imposter
Peace will be brought to the world"
Her dad was coming through the door
She was at the TV
He was calling out to her
Her world flipped over as she touched the screen and she landed on a massage bed.
"Why hello young lady, I see your trip was a success." The ancient voice of Wang Fu rang out as she regained her bearings.
