Briar gives you an amused look when you suggest this name. Your parents seem to like it, since it's what they end up calling her. You're mildly put out when they don't hang an embarrassing middle name on the girl, but what can you do?
When you're told that Moblin has to stay home while you go to kindergarten, you decide to take a stand. He's your dog, your responsibility, and you are the only person he'll listen to - even then, it's not always guaranteed. Your mom's going to have her hands full looking after your little sister, you can't just dump Moblin on your dad and uncle at work, and you flatly refuse to chain him up somewhere. You have your doubts that a typical chain could hold him, and that's not even getting into the demons that might find dog tasty enough to brave daylight.
Not surprisingly, your well-reasoned arguments don't carry much weight with the adults. So instead, you resort to intimidation, letting your aura slip just enough to be felt. Moblin accompanies your efforts with a low growl.
Gained Intimidating F+++
Gained Moblin E++
Moblin comes to class. Most of the kids are duly impressed, and a little envious. The next few days will witness a flood of attempts to bring other pets to school, but after the first day - which is declared an impromptu "Bring Your Pet To School Day" - everyone else is firmly told to leave their cats, dogs, birds, lizards, and small rodent things at home. Moblin stays. That was remarkably easy.
Now, if you could just get the teacher to stop looking at you like you're about to sprout a second head or something...
You make three friends during your first day. One, Larry Blaisdell, is a running buddy from your daycare years, and the only boy who could make a pretense of keeping up with you athletically. He and Moblin get along pretty well, and Larry seems delighted by your ability to bring the dog to class without getting in trouble.
The second friend you make is a bright, cheerful girl by the name of Cordelia Chase. She has a remarkably strong personality for a six year old, giving you the distinct impression that she knows - not expects, not believes, but flat-out knows - that everyone around her will naturally fall into line with her way of thinking. It would be abrasive, if she weren't so charming and happy. Cordelia has the makings of a definite queen bee, and has already taken a girl named Aura under her wing - they seem to have known each other before today, suggesting they went to the same daycare or that their families know each other.
The other friend you make is a bit unusual. Where Larry holds a prominent position among the boys, and Cordelia is shaping up to be the alpha female, Amy Madison is a quiet, almost reclusive girl. The main reason you approach her is that she is able to see and hear Briar, something the fairy absolutely refuses to let slip away from her. Considering that it suggests Amy has natural magical talent and a pretty open mind, you're inclined to agree with Briar's decision.
Gained Minions Amy and Larry
Gained Minion Ally Boss Friend Cordelia
Your three new cohorts get along reasonably well. Larry doesn't appear to have any more objection to hanging around with girls than you do, as long as you and he - and Moblin - get in some "guy time," and Cordelia naturally folds Amy into her growing social circle. Amy is a little nervous around Moblin, but Cordelia seems to approve of the dog's ability - and by extension, your own - to do what he wants and make it stick. None of the others except Amy seem able to perceive Briar, although there are a couple of times when you'd swear that they almost hear her.
There are a few other incidents that day. A bossy, know-it-all redhead who you don't recognize makes a nuisance of herself until some of the other kids get fed up and chase her off to a corner. Another boy you know from daycare, a rather annoying sort named Jesse McNally, pairs up with a new kid who looks like he should still be in daycare; they quickly start talking about comic books, and are soon as thick as thieves.
