A/N: Wow! Thank you so much for all the reviews! I'm so happy you guys are liking this. I see a lot of similar themes in the reviews, with people either wanting an 'event' to happen and then those against it. While I can't make both of these groups happy, I'm going to go ahead and write what I thought about when I first started writing this.
Just because all of you all reviewed, here you go new chapter as requested!
Hope you enjoy!
Chapter 14
She stormed out of the gym as fast as she could. Arizona did not want to stay there and pretend like there was anything more to say or do. She had no idea what had gotten over! Why had she jumped Callie's bones like that?
The blonde could still see her lover's disappointed face as she exited. She thought that it would feel amazing to leave the Latina butt naked in the sauna room, make her feel used and just leave, the same thing she had done to her in her own apartment. But somehow her heart ached. She did not want revenge, in fact she wanted nothing to do with her.
As she made her way back to her apartment she hopped right into the shower. She was tired both physically and emotionally, it was too much for her. She felt at ease when the hot water fell on her back. She thoroughly rinsed her hair before wrapping herself up in a nice comfy towel, she stepped outside and caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror.
She had huge bags under eyes, there was a bruise staring to form on her cheek and it was becoming a nasty reddish-purple color. Great she was going to have to cover it up with makeup. Her eyes travelled downwards as she unraveled her towel to get a closer look at her body.
"What the hell." One of her nipples appeared to be slightly redder than the other. Callie had left a hickey on her nipple. She almost rolled her eyes at that. What was the brunette trying to achieve with this gambit? By marking her like they were animals in the wild. What was more amusing was, Callie did everything to maintain the fact that they were not together! She quickly wrapped the towel back before making her way out.
Just then her phone rang. She half expected it to be Callie, but as things always turned out it was her mom.
"Hey Pumpkin! How's the big city treating yah?"
"I'm doing good Mama, lots and lots of work to do. I'm sorry I couldn't call you earlier."
"I west starting to think that you had forgot about us."
Arizona smiled. There was no way she could have forgotten about her family. "No way, Mama! I miss you and Dad so much! How's Timmy? How's the farm! Tell me everything!"
Arizona's parents were a bunch of farmers who raised cattle. They had a huge barn in the backyard with animals running freely around it.
That was how she grew up, ridding horses, feeding the pigs, sowing seeds. That was the life she had had in Michigan. That was the life most people had in Michigan, while she loved that side of her, she knew it wasn't for her. She wanted more than just breeding animals.
Meanwhile her elder brother Tim loved it! So, she was happy when he took over the farm from their father. Her father on the other hand, the ex-marine turned farmer was a firm man. However, the years hadn't been too kind to him. He had early onset dementia. There were days when he was lucid, but then most times he forgot that she existed. Which was quite painful to be on the receiving end of.
Her mom on the other hand was your average southern woman who followed the man of her dreams, the love of her life, across the country as he toured. She was a loveable woman who liked simple pleasures of life.
"The farm is doing good Pumpkin. You know Tim, he's always getting into trouble."
"What did he do now?"
"He rigged the annual squash contest so that he would win no matter what."
The mother daughter duo caught up on everything about the farm. Even though she was happy being in Seattle she still missed her family terribly. She missed her brother most of all, but that was the price she had to pay for trying to make a different career for herself.
Another thing that she kept from her family was that she never really came out to them. She lived in a small town and she was probably the only gay person in the neighborhood. Arizona wasn't sure how her family would take it, how her strict marine father would take it.
Sure, she had flings with a bunch of straight girls in the name of experimentation, but deep down since she was twelve, she always knew. And these out-of-town trips served to help her find women who were out and proud.
It was one of the reasons why she wanted a person to commit too, maybe that way she could finally come out to her family, but that was a discussion for some other time.
"You are quiet Arizona, is something bothering you?"
"What? No Mama! I'm just a bit homesick I guess."
She knew her mother wouldn't believe her blatant lie, but she could try.
"Is that all?"
"Yup, you know me, always emotional about new beginnings."
Arizona on heard some rattling in the background. "That's your father, he must have woken up from his nap."
"Umm how is he?"
"There are some good days and some not so good ones. Anyway, I need to go help him. Call me more often Pumpkin, I missed you and I raised you better than that!" She exclaimed.
"Yes Mama. I love you! Tell Timmy that cheating is not nice and tell dad I miss him." She almost wanted to add 'if he remembers me' but she didn't want to dive deeper into that pain.
"And Pumpkin? When you are ready to talk about it, I'll be here to listen okay?"
"Bye Mama!" She said before cutting the call.
There was an early morning meeting at seven am that the blonde had not anticipated. In fact, she had gotten a message late last night about it. Nevertheless, she got up early in the morning, got herself and Teddy some coffee before making her way to the conference room.
What she didn't expect was, the meeting to run forever as the discussed the slightest thing to make the Tequila more popular, what bothered her more was that none of this was related to her department. She was already done making the changes that were being discussed and was waiting to hear back on the progress. She was attending the meeting because she was told that there was going to be collaboration between Torres industries and some other company. That was what she was here for. But it was already three hours in the the meeting and they hadn't left the topic of how to push customers to buy more Tequila in one of the Torres clubs.
What made it worse was Callie standing in the center of the room looking absolutely stunning in the suit that she was wearing. Her hair was slicked back as the top two buttons of her shirt were opened. She had deposited her jacket to one of the chairs and rolled up the sleeves of her shirt to her elbows, exposing those gorgeous tan arms. She was wearing a black vest that seemed to accentuate her jawline. Arizona hated this! She needed to be strong. She had to be strong.
"Alright, I'm going to let Mr. Sloan do the talking here, he knows more about what makes a strong team. But let's take a quick five-minute break before that," she said before taking her seat on t her chair. "Ms. Robbins? Can I have a word?"
Crap crap crap, just when se thought that she as out of the woods she was being called by the principal.
Arizona waited for everyone to empty the conference room as they went to grab a cup of coffee and refreshments. She saw Teddy giving her the thumbs up before she left as well.
The blonde took a seat beside Callie, before she crossed her arms.
"Did you take it?" The Latina asked.
"Take what?"
"The morning after pill."
Arizona did not understand why she pretended to car, why now? "Of course, I did!"
"Okay great!"
"What did you expect me to do? Risk it? Or hope that I get knocked up so that you can use me more than just sex, no thank you!"
Callie quickly got out of her chair and kneeled in front of the blonde. "You know I want you for more than just sex."
"Do I? The first thing you say to me is if I took the morning after pill, no hi, no how you've been."
"Beautiful, you know how it is in this business. I have had people in my past literally rummaging my trash can so that they could get some of my sperm and impregnate themselves. They want a part of me, of who I am, my money. The stupid things these have done for some child support its just disgusting!"
"And you think I am one of those people?"
"B-"
"No Callie! I don't want your sperm. I want nothing from you! And yes, I took the morning after pill! For fucks sake."
"What about going on the pill? Have you talked to your doctor about that?"
Arizona got up from the chair. She couldn't believe her ears. "If you think that I'm going to sleep with you after all of this? After all that has been happening. I'm sorry but you are the one who is delusional!"
"Beautiful, what's wrong?"
The blonde bitterly laughed at that. "What's wrong? How about the fact that I want more but you can't give it to me? The fact that you bolt every time after we have sex, that things get a bit serious and there goes Calliope, fleeing my apartment. I told you to..." her voice cracked. "I asked you to stay and you said you can't, or you wouldn't. And then you ask me what's wrong?" She raised her hand to wipe her tears but before she could do so she watched the Latina removing her handkerchief from her pants before gently dabbing her tears away.
"Your cheek is still a bit swollen Beautiful. Did you ice it last night?"
"No, I forgot."
After Callie was done wiping her tears, she took the blonde's face in her hands. "You have to take better care of yourself. You can't let some random boxing trainer punch you. You cannot let your guard down."
"Are we going to talk about it?" The blonde asked sincerely.
Callie swallowed. She didn't know what she was looking for, she didn't know what to do or what to say.
"This is all I can give you B."
"Why are you so scared of giving your all to me?"
Callie sighed. "I… I just am."
"Why are you shielding yourself from me?"
The Latina walked over to the window, she knew the Seattle streets would calm her, hearing the gentle pitter patter raindrops might put her mind at ease. But it wasn't helping at all. She tried going to her happy place, but deep down she knew that her happy place would have Arizona in it, or be influenced by her.
She couldn't give it her all to the blonde. She was hurt too many times before to give the woman in the room a chance, she couldn't risk it. Not when someone was embezzling money from her, not when her unwanted guest was going to make her presence known in a couple of hours. She couldn't do it. Not today, not ever.
"Beautiful, I want to pull down these walls, but I can't. I need you to understand that. I feel things for you, but I can't act on them."
Arizona wanted to punch something, maybe she should schedule something with Justin.
"Then I need you to understand that I cannot go on like this."
"B-"
But before she could continue, Mark Sloan came barging into the building. "The she devil is in the building Torres! Look alive! I got everyone back from their break, we need to do this fast!" He exclaimed.
Callie walked away from the blonde. In her mind she felt like there was giant rock being placed on her chest.
Everyone got into the room as Mark paced around.
"We have decided to partner up with another well-known company, well actually, they happen to be a long rival of Torres industries, so these are a few instructions that I need you to live by for the next few days!"
Arizona felt Teddy nagging her elbow. "Do you have any idea what this is about?"
"Not a clue."
"Arizona Robbins, don't tell me Callie made you cum in the five minutes that we were out."
"Nope, quite the opposite actually."
But before she could explain what she meant by that, the door swung open and a tall blonde walked through the conference room like she owned the place. She looked at Callie with almost an evil smirk on her face and then went to shake her hand. Since the Latina's back was turned to her, she could really see her face, but that handshake told her enough.
"Callie Torres, I see you are making your way into the liquor business."
"Of course, I saw an opportunity and I took it. Besides you could use the competition."
The blonde woman looked around the room. "You say competition and then you go ahead and talk about a joint marketing campaign, you are a difficult woman to understand Callie Torres!"
"That I am, let me introduce you to my team." She said before turning to the rest of the room. "This is Erica Hahn and Hahn Whiskey and Torres Tequila will be working together for the next few weeks, so let's get started, shall we?"
A/N: So… How was that? This was a special treat for all of you all who reviewed. I wasn't going to write today, but I did. The next might be up in maybe a week's time.
What do you think should happen next? I always love hearing your ideas. Is Erica good or bad? Let me know. I love reading your reviews!
