Before you read: This episode will focus mainly on Robin. I realize so far I've been following a sort of pattern with episodes and I don't like it. After this one I will break the pattern and have more episodes focusing on Raven and Starfire.
Thick as Thieves
It was nighttime in a forest just outside of a small city where an advanced lab facility was and things were quiet. The lab facility was on the edge of the town with small mountains covered in tall trees behind it and they were lush and green. The lab was a Wayne Enterprises facility that developing research into new advanced technology, some of which could be dangerous in the wrong hands. On the branch of one of the trees was the young thief known as Cheshire as stared out at the city before looking down at the lab facility.
While she did this she said to herself, "Bare City: where man lives in harmony with nature and where the future is made."
Cheshire crouched down on the branch while she thoroughly stared at the lab and examined the security protecting it. She noticed hundreds of guards patrolling the perimeter at different locations as well as security cameras and other hazards.
Cheshire stared at the facility as she spoke deviously and said, "Guards, security cameras, and who knows what else? Piece of cake."
Suddenly she heard a familiar voice say, "You sure about that?"
She turned her head when Red X suddenly jumped and landed on the same branch as her and crouched down to her right.
She turned to him while he had an amused look in his eyes as he joked, "Happy to see me?"
Cheshire looked at Red X as she said, "What are you doing here?"
Red X looked at her with a sly look in his eyes before pointing at the facility as he said, "Probably the same thing you're doing. I'm here to steal the Solar Amplifier housed in there."
Cheshire eyed him as she curiously asked, "What do you want with it?"
Red X had a devious look in his eyes as he said, "Sell it to the highest bidder. Let me guess, that's why you want it?"
Cheshire raised her left arm and made her sleeve fall back revealing her hand with her tekko-kagi as she threatened, "Yes and this is my score! Go find your own!"
Red X eyed her as he slyly said, "How about a deal?"
Cheshire lowered her arm as she curiously asked, "What kind of deal?"
Red X pointed his thumb at the facility before pointing at her then putting his hand on his chest while he said, "I scoped the joint out earlier and got a better look at their security. I saw a lot of things you missed just now. Even I can't get past all their security, not by myself. How about we work together to steal the Generator and split the money?"
Cheshire remained stubborn as she stared at him and said, "I don't like sharing, besides I don't see what I need you for. I can handle this by myself."
Red X coyly handed her a pare of high-tech X-Ray binoculars while he said, "You want to see for yourself and stick with that?"
She took the binoculars and then looked through them and could see inside the lab facility and she definitely noticed more security measures. She saw laser grids, electrified floors, automatic defenses, and secure doors that required activation codes. She also noticed there were more guards than she anticipated and they were armed with very powerful weapons. The technology she was after was located in a large room in the center of the building with all of these defenses protecting it. She realized that Red X was right, even with all of her skills and weapons she would never be able to get the device without being captured.
She gave the binoculars back to Red X as he looked at her coyly and asked, "So what do you say?"
Cheshire turned and stared back at the facility before sighing and turning back to Red X as she replied, "I'm listening."

Robin and Speedy were walking together through the forest just outside of Bare City, on a mission together. They had recently arrived and were following a lead that Robin had as they sought to investigate the lab facility.
Robin looked at Speedy and smiled with appreciation as he said, "Thanks for helping me out with this Speedy."
Speedy followed Robin as he smiled before looking curious while he said, "No problem Robin. The Titans East can keep Steel City safe without me for a couple of days. How come the rest of your team couldn't join us though, anyway?"
Robin climbed over a small boulder while Speedy followed as Robin replied, "Raven is protecting Melvin, Timmy, and Teether. Beast Boy's going to Central City to meet Kid Flash. Cyborg's heading to Detroit for something personal. And Starfire needs to check on Thunder and Lightning before she goes to see the Titans North tomorrow."
Speedy walked up next to Robin with a smirk as he teased, "Too bad your girlfriend can't be here right now huh?"
Robin blushed before glaring at Speedy as he retorted, "At least I have a girlfriend! I don't see any girls chasing after you!"
Speedy felt insulted as he started combing his hair while he arrogantly said, "Hey! The ladies love me! In case you haven't noticed, I'm a chick magnet."
Robin stopped walking as he smirked at Speedy and asked, "Then how come you're not in a relationship yet?"
Speedy suddenly felt sheepish as he looked away before narrowing his eyes while he said, "Um… Well… Because I haven't met the right girl yet okay!"
Robin knew he was lying as he grinned and sarcastically said, "Right."
Speedy folded his arms as he looked away and pouted, "Hey! Girls like Starfire aren't exactly easy to come by!"
Robin smiled as he held his right hand up before he started walking again while he said, "Okay, okay. Let's just focus on the mission."
Speedy calmed down as he agreed and followed Robin as he curiously asked, "You're sure someone is going to try and steal this Solar Amplifier?"
Robin stepped through some bushes while he seriously said, "Positive. I got a tip that Wayne Enterprises has been developing this advanced piece of technology in Bare City. They said they spotted some criminal who has every intention of stealing the Solar Amplifier for unknown reasons. This technology is exactly the kind of thing some criminal mastermind would want and someone is planning to use it for something bad."
Speedy then curiously asked, "Who's your informant?"
Robin's eyes widened as he reluctantly answered, "A reliable source."
Speedy looked mildly suspicious as he realized Robin was hiding something before he followed him as they came to a cliff and stared at the city.
They spotted the lab facility on the edge of the city to their left as Robin pointed at it and said, "There's the lab. Let's get over there and check security."
They both started running through the forest as they moved around the city, unaware that Cheshire and Red X were watching the two of them. They were standing in a tree as they silently watched Robin and Speedy run through the forest, knowing exactly why the two of them were there.
Red X watched them with his left hand against the tree trunk while he said, "Guess a couple of our old playmates decided to spoil our fun tonight."
Cheshire spoke with an eager tone as she crouched down next to him and said, "I'm not complaining. I've been hoping to see arrow boy again."
Red X looked at her with an amused look in his eyes as he said, "Well then, let's have some fun before work."
Cheshire looked at him and nodded in agreement before she and Red X started jumping to and from tree branches as they followed Robin and Speedy.
Robin and Speedy were still running through the forest while Speedy asked, "So what's so important about this machine anyway?"
Robin kept running as he stared forward while answering, "It stores sunlight inside it and converts it into a highly powerful form of energy, enough to power a whole city even at night. It could revolutionize solar energy and change the world."
As they kept running Speedy looked forward as he understood where this was going and said, "But in the wrong hands it could spell disaster."
Robin looked at Speedy while they kept running as he confirmed, "Exactly!"
Speedy stared forward in shock while he ran and said, "So this bad guy must already have some kind of plan to use the Solar Amplifier."
Robin showed a serious expression as he said, "Not on our watch!"
They stopped when they came to a small cliff and then Speedy shot a special arrow with a cable attached to it. He and Robin climbed up the cable and reached the top of the cliff before they started walking again.
While they walked Speedy looked at Robin and curiously asked, "Any idea who might try to steal this device?"
They kept walking while Robin stared forward in thought and narrowed his eyes while he said, "My informant said someone I knew was recently seen in the area, but he didn't give me a name. There's a pretty long list of people who could use that Solar Amplifier for evil uses. For me, the top of that list would be Slade."
Speedy was skeptical as he said, "You sure about that? I know Slade's bad news and I know you have a history with him,, but he's not behind every cat stuck up a tree."
Robin kept staring forward as he seriously said, "No, but he's still at large and we know he's planning something. Until we know what it is, none of us are safe."
Speedy grabbed Robin's shoulder as he stopped him and honestly said, "I know you're worried, but you're starting to sound obsessed. Try to lighten up a bit."
They were both startled when they heard Red X's voice and saw him standing on a log while he said, "You should listen to your friend kid. You need to relax."
Robin glared daggers as he exclaimed, "Red X!"
Red X eyed Robin coyly as he said, "Miss me?"
Robin kept glaring at him as he spitefully said, "Like a cavity!"
He and Speedy stood in fighting stances as Speedy got an arrow ready while Red X goaded, "Nice of you to bring your twin to join the fun."
Robin pulled out his bo staff and held hit behind his back while he said, "You're no match for both of us by yourself X!"
Red X had a sly look in his eyes as he folded his arms and deviously said, "Then it's a good thing I brought a friend."
Cheshire jumped out of a tree and landed behind them as they turned around while she said, "Hey redhead."
Speedy was shocked as he stared at her and said, "Cheshire!"
She raised her fists at her sides as her sleeves fell down, revealing her claws while Speedy aimed his arrow at her. Red X then hopped off the log and stepped forward and clinched his fists as Robin turned to him and pointed his bo at him. Speedy and Robin stood back-to-back as the two young thieves stared at them and waited for them to make a move.
Robin kept glaring at Red X as he demanded, "What are you two doing here?"
Red X spoke coyly as he sarcastically asked, "If you're so smart kid, why are you asking us?"
Robin knew the answer as he said, "The Solar Amplifier!"
Cheshire spoke deviously as she said, "Give the boy a prize! We've decided to work together to steal it, and split the money."
Speedy glared at Cheshire as he defiantly said, "You'll have to go through us first!"
He shot the arrow at Cheshire, but she dodged it and eagerly said, "Well then, let's dance!"
Cheshire immediately ran at Speedy like a ninja while Robin ran at Red X, yelling in fury as he pulled his bo back. Red X made two red x-shaped blades come out of his gloves and clinched them in his hands as he waited for Robin to come to him. Robin swung his bo at Red X, but he ducked and then slashed his blades at Robin, only for Robin to block them with his bo. They locked weapons and stared each other in the face, meanwhile Cheshire ran at Speedy and slashed her claws at him. He dodged her claws and she spun around and whirled her hairlocks at him, but he blocked them with his bow. He punched at her her but she backed away and dodged his fist before dodging a roundhouse kick from him.
They both stood in fighting stances as Speedy glared at Cheshire and said, "No Blackfire or Brotherhood of Evil to help you this time!"
He shot two arrows at her but she slashed them both with her claws before running at Speedy and trying to slash at him. He dodged her claws as he moved around her and kicked her in the back and knocked her down to the ground. She immediately got back up and spun on the ground as she spun her legs through the air and knocked Speedy off his feet. He landed on his hands and jumped off of them and got back on his feet, only to be hit in the face by one of Cheshire's locks of hair. He stumbled a bit before regaining his footing when Cheshire jabbed her hands at him, only for Speedy to block them with his bow. She turned and tried to kick him but Speedy grabbed her foot and held her in place he tossed it aside and side-kicked her in the stomach.
She stumbled backwards and held her stomach and was impressed as she admitted, "You've gotten better since I last saw you."
Speedy got an arrow ready as he explained, "I've been practicing, because I knew that I'd see you again someday."
Cheshire spoke coyly as she said, "Aww. That's so sweet. You wanted to be your best for when you saw me again."
Speedy shot the arrow at her but she dodged it before throwing three shurikens, which he dodged swiftly. Cheshire swiftly reached up her right sleeve and pulled out a chain weapon known as a kusarigama. She held the chain in both hands as she whirled it around beside her before swinging the sickle at Speedy. He let out a cry of shock as he ducked and narrowly dodged the blade before Cheshire pulled it back and whirled it again.
She stared at Speedy as she arrogantly gloated, "But you still can't compete with me. I beat you before and I'll do it again."
Speedy ran at her as he angrily exclaimed, "Not this time!"
She threw the blade of her kusarigama out but he dodged it and ran at her as he swung his bow at her face. She ducked and dodged his bow as she moved to the side and swung her chain at him but he dodged the blade. She yanked it back and held the blade in her hand before running at Speedy, but he avoided her attack and did a drop-spin kick that knocked her off her feet. However she managed to flip through the air and landed back on her feet as she crouched down and stared at Speedy while he showed a vexed expression.
Cheshire spoke in an amused tone as she taunted, "This is getting pretty fun. Keep it up and you might score a few more points before losing."
Speedy glared at her as he got another arrow ready and defiantly said, "We'll see about that! Bring it on!"
He shot the arrow at her but Cheshire swung her kusarigama and cut the arrow in the air before she ran at Speedy and swung it at him. Speedy managed to catch the sickle part of the weapon in his hand and held it in place before Cheshire jumped toward him and kicked her leg out. Meanwhile Robin continued to fight Red X by himself as Red X swung his blades at him before Robin knocked them out of his hands with his bow staff. Red X then launched a large red x-shaped restraint from his left glove, but Robin dodged it and the restraint wrapped around a tree trunk behind him. Red X then made two red x-shaped blades come out of the back of his blades as they spun around like buzzsaws. Robin pulled out three birdarangs and threw them at Red X, but he swung his arms around and used the spinning blades on the backs of his gloves to cut them to pieces. Robin grunted in anger as he ran at Red X, who retracted the blades in the backs of his gloves and clinched his fists. Robin swung his bo at Red X, but he dodged it before leaping at Robin and kicking him in the chest, knocking him flat on his back.
Red X stood over Robin and looked down at him as he quipped, "Maybe you should take a break for a minute."
Robin immediately stood on his hands and launched himself at Red X as he kicked him in the chest and made him stumble backwards. Robin ran at him and swung his bo three times, but Red X dodged it twice before grabbing it and holding it in place before kicking Robin away. Robin fell on his back but immediately got up when Red X came at him and tried to punch him, but Robin blocked his fist and jabbed him in the stomach with his bo. He forced Red X backwards as he held his stomach in pain for a moment before Robin leapt at him and kicked him. He knocked Red X against a tree trunk and used his bo staff to pin him against it while staring him in the face.
Robin fiercely stared Red X in the face as he asked, "Why are you working with her? I didn't think you were the kind to team up."
Red X spoke coyly as he said, "Sometimes I have to."
He then kicked Robin and forced him off of him as Robin slid back on his feet before holding his staff behind his back.
Red X clinched his fists in a fighting stance as he stared at Robin and honestly said, "Working alone doesn't mean I'm greedy Boy Wonder. Security at the joint is tight and I could use a hand. Cheshire's good but she needs me to help get past all that. And I'd much rather split the money with her than fight her to get the prize."
Robin glared at him as he held his left hand out with his bo still behind him in his right hand while he coldly said, "Selfish motive, no surprise there."
Red X eyed Robin coyly as he said, "Kid, just because I look out for myself doesn't mean I don't like others' company."
Red X then made six red x-shaped blades come out of his gloves and held them in his hands before he threw them all at Robin. Robin looked scared as he narrowly dodged each and every blade thrown at him before Red X came running at him. He threw a punch at Robin, but Robin dodged him and grabbed his arm as he threw him over his shoulder. Red X fell to the ground and Robin pinned him down with his bo staff, but Red X kicked Robin's ankle and knocked him down before he got back on his feet. Robin immediately got up and yelled in fury as he repeatedly swung his bo staff at Red X and kept trying to hit him. Meanwhile Cheshire swung her kusarigama at Speedy, but he blocked it with his bo before grabbing it and yanking it out of her hands. She then ran at him and tried to slash her claws at him but he blocked both her hands with his bo as they stared each other in the face.
They both struggled to overpower each other while Cheshire mocked, "You must really be afraid to show who you really are, hiding behind a mask like that."
Speedy headbutted her, prompting her to let out a cry of pain, then he pushed her backwards before he replied, "You're one to talk."
Cheshire stood tall and giggled briefly before she proudly said, "Touche, but I'm not afraid to show who I am. I'm not hiding from anything."
She started dodging some arrows that Speedy shot at her while he said, "Yeah? Then why don't you take it off and show your face?"
She dodged his last arrow as she jumped and landed in a crouched position as she snidely replied, "Because I don't bat my eyelashes at just anyone."
Speedy then shot a special arrow at her, which broke into four pieces that were held together by a large net. Cheshire slashed her claws and cut the net to pieces before leaping in the air and throwing three shurikens at Speedy. Speedy dodged the blades and then jumped at Cheshire and swung his bo at her face and knocked her to the side. She fell to the ground but got up as she kept fighting, meanwhile Robin seemed to have the upper hand against Red X. Red X launched a glob of sticky red goo at Robin, but Robin dodged it as it covered a bush nearby as Red X backed away. Robin pulled out his grapple and used it to swing from a tree branch overhead; he swung toward Red X and kicked him. At the same time Speedy shot an arrow at Cheshire, which exploded and blasted her back as she and Red X were knocked back toward each other. The slammed into each other before falling down, but they got back up and stood back-to-back as Speedy and Robin had them cornered. Speedy had an arrow aimed at Cheshire while Robin pulled out an explosive disc while his grapple reeled in. Red X looked over his shoulder, past Cheshire, as he saw Speedy with his arrow aimed at both of them before he looked back at Robin.
Robin smiled overconfidently as he said, "Looks like the tables have turned."
Cheshire was not deterred as she held her arms up and said, "I'm not afraid of being backed into a corner."
Robin had a devious look in his eyes as he quipped, "I'd rather stay out of the crossfire."
Speedy shot his arrow while Robin simultaneously threw his explosive disc, but Red X grabbed Cheshire before teleporting them both away. The arrow and explosive disc passed each other, prompting Robin and Speedy to scream in terror as their eyes bugged out in shock. The explosive disc hit Speedy and blew up while the arrow hit Robin and exploded; both explosions were small but knocked the two Titans on their backs as they groaned in pain.
Cheshire and Red X were standing on a boulder nearby as Red X smugly joked, "I try not to get in the middle."
He and Cheshire both took off as they ran into the woods while Robin and Speedy got up and kept groaning.
They walked toward each other as Speedy apologized, "Sorry about that Robin."
Robin showed forgiveness and blamed himself as he said, "It's okay Speedy, it's not your fault. I should've never made that suit in the first place."
Speedy showed a vexed expression as he looked in the direction they fled and said, "Yeah well, looks like we found our culprits."
Robin looked suspicious as he skeptically said, "I'm not sure they're the ones my informant warned us about."
Speedy was confused as he pointed his left thumb to the side and said, "What do you mean? They said they're planning to steal the Solar Amplifier."
Robin remained suspicious as he caressed his chin in thought and said, "I know, but they're only interested in how much it's worth. They're not psychotic, they're just selfish."
Speedy understood as he thought and then asked, "You think they're working for someone? Someone more powerful?"
Robin stopped caressing his chin as he seriously said, "Maybe. Either way we need to stop them and capture them."
Speedy looked in the direction the two thieves fled as he hastily said, "Then let's stop standing around and catch them!"
He was about to run after them until Robin grabbed his arm and said, "No."
Speedy was shocked as he said, "What?! They're getting away!"
Robin stared at Speedy as he seriously said, "We don't need to go after them, we already know where they're going."
Speedy's eyes widened with realization before he nodded and said, "Right! To the lab!"
Robin and Speedy both took off running through the forest as they headed for the lab facility to stop Red X and Cheshire. They were both unaware that they were being watched by an invisible man standing on a tree branch overhead. The man turned visible and revealed himself to be Doctor Light, who had watched the whole fight between them and the two young thieves.
He then turned and stared at the lab facility with an evil grin as he said to himself, "While those kids are busy breaking into the lab and fighting each other I'll be able to take the Solar Amplifier for myself. With that power at my fingertips I'll be unstoppable!"
Commercial break
Robin and Speedy were staking out the lab facility as they both observed different entry points with high-tech binoculars. They were on a ledge on the mountain side near the lab facility, providing them with a bird's eye view of the complex.
As they searched Robin looked around while he said, "I don't see any sign of Red X or Cheshire anywhere. What about you Speedy?"
Speedy glanced around with his binoculars while he said, "Nothing so far."
Robin lowered his binoculars with a leery expression as he said, "Something's not right. They should've struck by now."
Speedy lowered his binoculars as he calmly suspected, "They're probably waiting for the right moment. We just need to be patient."
Robin was growing impatient as he said, "We don't have time to wait. We need catch these crooks now! We need answers!"
Speedy put his hand on Robin's shoulder as he urged, "Easy Robin. They'll show and we'll catch them. For now we just sit and watch. Haven't you ever done a stakeout before?"
Robin took a deep breath and calmed down as he said, "You're right, sorry. I'm just a little on edge right now."
Speedy took his hand off Robin as he speculated, "Because you think Red X and Cheshire might be working for Slade?"
Robin stared into space as he honestly admitted, "Well yes, but even if they aren't I still want to catch them. I created Red X. I designed the suit and all of its weapons and now he's using it to commit crimes where ever he wants."
Speedy already knew the story as he curiously asked, "Did you ever find out who he is behind the mask?"
Robin shook his head as he stared into space and honestly said, "Not a clue. He could be anyone. I don't know who he is and I still don't have him figured out yet. He's not exactly a villain but I wouldn't call him a hero either. He's helped me in the past but he's still a criminal and I can't just leave him free to go. I need to catch him and get that suit back."
Speedy's eyes widened in wonder as he said, "Wow, that does sound really stressful. That's a lot of responsibility."
Robin looked down with a vexed expression as he pounded his fist and said, "I know, and every time I come close to catching him he always slips away."
Speedy folded his arms as he stared into space with an annoyed expression as he said, "I think I know how that feels. Ever since Cheshire attacked me and captured me for the Brotherhood of Evil I've wanted to get even with her, but she's so slippery. Last time I faced her I was hoping to win the rematch but she got away."
Robin looked at Speedy as he commented, "Yeah, she and Red X both got away, even though they helped us stop Blackfire and all those other villains."
Speedy stared into space with frustration as he said, "I know. I've been training hard so that I would beat her the next time I faced her but she's proven hard to beat. She's crafty and she's got so many tricks up her sleeves."
Robin agreed as he stared into space and seriously said, "Just like Red X. Earlier we had them both right where we wanted them but they slipped right through our fingers and made us both look like a couple of fools."
Speedy stared into space with a vexed expression as he said, "Yeah, they really like toying with us, especially Cheshire. I hate to admit it but she's really good, she's strong, fast, and skilled. And she's smart too. If she wasn't a criminal I'd think it was cool."
Robin folded his arms as he smirked slyly at Speedy while saying, "I can't help but notice that she seems to enjoy fighting you a bit. And it almost sounds like you seem to respect her a little bit."
Speedy immediately became uncomfortable as his heart started beating fast and he looked at Robin and said, "What are you talking about?"
Robin kept staring at Speedy with his sly grin as he said, "Just now you sounded like you like Cheshire a bit."
Speedy glared at Robin as he said, "What gives you that crazy idea?"
Robin smile knowingly at Speedy as he pointed at him and said, "I know that look. I had the same one when Cyborg and the others accused me of liking Starfire before we got together."
Speedy had a vein throbbing on his forehead as he angrily denied, "No way! Not a chance! She's a thief! A criminal!"
Robin kept smiling slyly as a dream cloud appeared over his head showing pictures of Jinx and Kid Flash while he said, "So was Jinx but then Kid Flash got her to change her ways. Now she's one of us and they're a couple."
Speedy blushed at the thought but scowled as he turned away and folded his arms while saying, "It will never happen! Even if she changes I would never date her!"
Robin put his fists on his side as he grinned and sarcastically said, "Uh huh, sure."
Speedy kept looking away from him as he said, "I'm serious!"
Robin kept smiling until he looked down at the facility and pointed his finger as he exclaimed, "There she is!"
Thinking Robin was trying to trick him, Speedy kept scowling as he looked away and said, "Nice try. I'm not falling for that one."
Robin's eyes widened as he kept staring and exclaimed, "I'm not joking! I see her and Red X! They're breaking in!"
Speedy became alarmed as he held up his binoculars and looked to see Cheshire and Red X fighting the guards.
Speedy promptly put the binoculars away and seriously looked at Robin while he said, "Time to get to work!"
Robin nodded before he and jumped off the ledge and started running down the mountainside toward the lab facility. Red X and Cheshire fought a dozen guards at the entrance to the lab facility and made short work of all of them. Red X launched four large restraints from his gloves, and they hit four guards and pinned them to the wall behind them. He then launched two smaller red X's that stuck to the helmets of the two other guards, blinding them. He ran at them and punched one in the face and knocked him down before jumping and kicking the other guard in the face, knocking him out. Cheshire ran at two guards and slashed her claws, cutting their blasters to pieces before leaping and kicking them in the face, knocking them out. She saw two other guards aiming their weapons at her, but she threw shurikens that stuck the sleeves of their gloves and pinned them to a nearby wall. The final two guards ran at Cheshire from opposite directions, which she noticed, and when they came close she performed a leaping split kick and knocked them both out. All the guards were incapacitated as she and Red X looked down at them before looking at each other.
Red X was pleased as he said, "Nice moves."
Cheshire spoke proudly as she said, "I don't need fancy gadgets to fight."
They both turned to see Robin and Speedy as Speedy got an arrow ready and fiercely said, "Good! Because you just found a real one!"
Cheshire spoke in an amused tone as she said, "Not now arrows."
She then threw a smoke pellet to the ground, allowing her and Red X to escape; when the smoke cleared Robin and Speedy saw they were both gone.
Speedy lowered his bow in annoyance as he complained, "I hate when they do that!"
Robin showed a serious expression as he said, "We just need to beat them to the device."
Speedy agreed as he nodded and said, "Right!"
They both ran into the lab facility, after they left Doctor Light showed up and stared at the entrance with a devious smile on his face.
He kept smiling deviously as he kept staring and said to himself, "How kind of them to light the way for me."
The two thieves swiftly made their way through the lab facility as they conquered every obstacle they encountered. Several guards fired blue blasts of energy at Red X and Cheshire, but they swiftly dodged the blasts and defeated all of the guards. They stopped at a corner when they peered around the wall and saw a security camera on the ceiling. The camera was moving as it scanned the hallway, and when it looked away Cheshire and Red X swiftly ran to the wall on the other side. They silently moved against the wall and quickly moved under the security camera without being spotted, then they entered another room. They were in a large chamber that had a platform on the other side that led to the next hallway and the floor was below them. The floor was electrified as they looked down and saw sparks of electricity surging from the metal and they knew they could not set foot on it.
Red X spoke confidently as he said, "I've got this one."
He held up his left hand and pointed at the ceiling shot a red cable from his glove with a small sticky red x on the end of it. The cable stuck to the ceiling and Red X grabbed Cheshire and swung across the chamber without touching the electrified floor. They landed on the platform on the other end of the chamber when Red X detached the cable from his hand. He and Cheshire then ran down the hall and swiftly defeated several more guards with ease as they continued through the hallway. They hallway with a large door on the other end, but there were automatic turrets in the walls and ceiling that were aiming at them. They started firing red laser blasts at them, which Red X and Cheshire dodged before hiding behind a corner. The turrets ceased fire as they kept aiming in the direction the two young thieves fled while Red X and Cheshire had their backs against the wall.
Red X looked at Cheshire and held his hand out toward the hall as he quipped, "Ladies first."
Cheshire said nothing and did not argue as she threw several smoke pellets into the hallway, filling it with a lot of smoke. The smoke blinded the turrets and in the cloud Cheshire and Red X ran through and disabled each and every one of the turrets. Cheshire slashed her claws and cut the cables on the turrets, causing them to deactivate as sparks of electricity shot from them. Red X threw four of his red x-shaped blades that impaled areas of the remaining two turrets and shut them down. The smoke cleared and they both ran through the door, entering another hallway as they stopped and looked ahead. The vault door was on the other end of the hallway, but halfway down there was a laser grid blocking their way. Red X put his hands together and then shot out a red blast of energy shaped like a giant x; it hit the laser grid and shorted out the devices. The laser grid deactivated and the two thieves proceeded to the vault door and stopped in front of it as they looked and saw the keypad to input the access code.
Cheshire looked at Red X as she asked, "Got anything to deal with this."
Red X spoke cockily as he said, "Watch and learn."
He held his right hand and shot a red x-shaped device from his hand that stuck to the keypad with red energy surging from it. The device shorted out the terminal as well as the locks to the vault door as red energy surged through the cables.
The vault door then creaked open as Cheshire commented, "Not bad."
They entered the vault and saw the device they were after, the Solar Amplifier, in a large cylinder case made of plexiglass. The Solar Amplifier was a round black machine approximately the same size as fish tank, with buttons and small monitors on the side.
Red X and Cheshire stared at the machine as Red X happily said, "There's our prize money."
Robin and Speedy suddenly dropped from the ceiling and readied their weapons as Robin said, "Sorry, you'll have to come back another day."
Red X looked annoyed as he asked, "How'd you two get in here before us?!"
Speedy aimed his arrow as he said, "We convinced the guards to let us in."
Robin had a smug grin as he boasted, "There are advantages to being the hero."
Cheshire stared at them both as she coyly said, "Then I guess this is the part where you catch the bad guys and take them to jail."
Speedy was determined as he kept aiming the arrow and said, "Sounds about right."
Red X spoke competitively as he said, "Well you have to fight us first."
Robin fiercely held a birdarang back as he said, "Thought you'd never ask!"
Speedy shot the arrow and they scattered as it exploded, then Cheshire ran at Speedy while Red X ran at Robin. Robin threw two birdarangs at Red X but he made two spinning red x-shaped blades come out of the backs of his gloves. He cut the birdarangs before running at Robin, but Robin pulled out two more birdarangs and used them for close combat. He swung his birdarangs at Red X, but he dodged them while his blades stopped spinning and he slashed them at Robin. Robin dodged every attack and then they locked blades and tried to overpower each other as they both struggled.
They stared each other in the face as Robin asked, "Why are you after the Solar Amplifier? Are you working for Slade?!"
Red X spoke with a snark as he said, "I work for me!"
He headbutted Robin and made him stumble backwards before Robin regained his footing and held his birdarangs out.
Red X then spoke snidely as he said, "Not every crime is committed by some bigshot villain kid. I'm just trying to make some money. I'm here to steal that fancy machine and sell it to the highest bidder. Should fetch a pretty penny."
Robin glared at Red X as he sarcastically said, "So you're only interested in money, that's a small comfort."
Red X deactivated the blades in the backs of his gloves while he taunted, "Kid, you need to get yourself a new hobby."
He then pulled out two red x-shaped blades and threw them at Robin, and they knocked the birdarangs out of his hands. Robin gritted his teeth as he pulled out his bo staff and then ran at Red X while yelling in fury, and Red X ran at him. Meanwhile Cheshire ran around the vault while Speedy shot three arrows at her one-by-one, but Cheshire dodged all of them. Cheshire then threw four shurikens at Speedy but he knocked them away with his bow before shooting an exploding arrow at her. She dodged it and it blew up behind her and made small bits of rubble crumble behind her as she stood in front of him.
Speedy stared at Cheshire as he pulled out and aimed another arrow while he said, "You're good, I'll give you that, but my weapons are better than yours."
He shot the arrow but she swiftly reached up her sleeve and pulled out a tessen, opened it, and swung it to cut Speedy's arrow in half.
Speedy was shocked as he said, "A war fan?! How many weapons do you have?!"
Cheshire spoke cockily as she said, "I'm full of surprises."
Speedy became vexed as he prepared to shoot at her again as he retorted, "Well you're not the only one!"
He readied the arrow but aimed it at the wall above her, and instead he shot a grappling arrow and then he swung from the cable. He swung toward Cheshire and tried to kick her in the face but she blocked his foot with her war fan and then jumped in the air and sliced the cable. Speedy fell to the floor but landed on his feet while Cheshire landed in front of him and stared at him while fanning herself with her tessen.
She kept fanning herself as she coyly said, "Misdirection. I like the way you think. But you'll have to do better than that to beat me."
Speedy's head turned red as he angrily exclaimed, "There's more where that came from!"
Speedy shot another arrow at her but she used the tessen as a shield and blocked it before knocking it away. He shot another arrow at her but she used her war fan to slice it in two, right down the middle before holding it in front of her mask like a regular Japanese fan. She then threw her war fan out as it spun through the air toward Speedy and he cried in fear as he ducked. The war fan glided over him and the edge stuck into the wall behind him as he stood up and looked at it.
He turned back to Cheshire as she taunted, "Your arrows are cool but without them you don't have much."
Speedy glared at her as he put his bow on his shoulder and clinched his fists in a fighting stance as he said, "Okay, let's see who's the better martial artist right now!"
Cheshire held her arms out as she eagerly said, "This should be fun."
She ran at Speedy and slashed her claws at him, but he dodged them and then managed to block her wrists before kicking her in the stomach. She stumbled back before regaining her footing, then she performed a leaping kick to his face and knocked him back. He fell on his back but got back up and blocked a jab she performed at him, then she spun around and swung her hairlocks at him. He dodged them both and then she jabbed her left arm at him, but he grabbed her arm and then jabbed a pressure point on her shoulder.
She let out a cry of pain before kicking him in the chest and knocking him back, then she complimented, "Pressure point, nice job."
She healed and ran at him and stood in front of him as she tried to punch and kick him a few times but he managed to block her attacks. She then thrusted her right arm at Speedy, but he blocked her and grabbed her as he pulled her down and pinned her down on the floor.
She noticed their current position and looked up at him as she coquettishly joked, "Ooh, I didn't know you were so forward."
Speedy smiled overconfidently as he stared in the face (mask) and said, "Ha! Guess I'm more than just an archer huh?!"
Cheshire spoke deviously as she said, "Yeah, but you still have a lot to learn."
Speedy was confused as he said, "What are you talking-"
He was interrupted when Cheshire overpowered him and rolled over as she pinned him down on the floor and laid over him as he looked up at her with a stunned expression. Her mask was just inches above his face as she as she had her hands on his forearms with her claws sticking out and curving just over his hands.
She stared him in the face as she explained, "You need to take your opponent's strength and use it against him. Look for an opening and strike at it."
Speedy then headbutted Cheshire and forced her off of him as he got on his feet and angrily said, "I'll keep that in mind!"
Cheshire then pulled out her kusarigama and held the sickle in her right hand while whirling the other end of the chain in her left hand. She lunged the chain at Speedy and the weight on the end of it hit him in the stomach and knocked the wind out of him as he held his stomach in pain. Cheshire pulled the chain back and whirled the other end with the sickle then swung it at Speedy while he did not have time to react. The blade missed him but the chain wrapped around him as the blade hooked onto another part of the chain and Cheshire tugged to tighten it around Speedy's upper body, restraining him. Speedy was shocked as he could not break free or reach his bow or arrows as the chain tightly restrained him while he looked back at Cheshire.
She then pulled him closer and stared him in the face as she victoriously said, "You're good, but I'm better."
Speedy looked at her with a discouraged expression as he said, "I hate to admit it, but you might be right."
Meanwhile Robin fought Red X as he swung his bo staff at him twice, but Red X dodged and then jumped to avoid both attacks. Red X tried to kick Robin but Robin blocked his foot with his bo then blocked his fist when Red X tried to punch him. He swung his staff at Red X's face and knocked him to his left, toward the wall before Red X regained his footing. He threw a red x-shaped blade at Robin but he dodged it and ran at Red X while yelling in fury before jumping and kicking him in the chest. He stumbled backwards before Robin swiftly jabbed Red X in the chest with his bo staff and forced him back against the wall behind him.
He then held his bo against Red X's chest and pinned him against the wall as he said, "It's over!"
He stopped and turned his head as he heard Cheshire say, "Not yet."
Robin looked at her and was shocked to see that she had Speedy captured; she still had him chained up as she held him against her with her left arm. Her right arm was next to his head with the claws of her tekko-kagi just inches away from Speedy's face.
She remained in this position as she stared at Robin and threatened, "Let X go or William Tell here gets his face scratched."
Speedy looked at Robin as he selflessly urged, "Don't do it!"
Cheshire maintained her grip on him as she honestly said, "I'd rather not ruin such a pretty face, but I will if I have to. So you let him go and I'll let your friend go."
Robin was conflicted while Red X slyly said, "Better think about what a real hero would do."
Robin glanced at Red X angrily before glaring back at Cheshire while she stared back at him and held Speedy tightly. Suddenly they all heard something and they turned to see Doctor Light walk into the vault with a devious grin.
He smirked as he snidely said, "Please, don't stop on my account."
Robin was shocked as he said, "Doctor Light?!"
Doctor Light smiled arrogantly as he said, "That's right! And the Solar Amplifier is mine!"
Red X was shocked as he looked at Doctor Light and exclaimed, "What?!"
Doctor Light smiled as he glanced at him and Cheshire while he gloated, "Since you two took care of the security for me and distracted these two Titans, I simply decided to walk in and take the device for myself."
Cheshire stared at Doctor Light as she fiercely said, "That device is ours! You'll have to go through us to get through us to get it!"
Doctor Light smiled evilly as he said, "Oh that sounds illuminating!"
He then held out his hands and shot out yellow rays of energy from his gauntlets and blasted Robin, Red X, Cheshire, and Speedy simultaneously. They all cried in pain as they were knocked to the floor; Red X was free from Robin and Speedy had escaped from Cheshire's chain. Red X and Cheshire both laid unconscious on the floor while Speedy and Robin got on their feet and looked at Doctor Light.
Speedy got an arrow ready as he said, "I guess we found the guy that your mysterious source warned us about."
Robin glared at Doctor Light while pulling out an explosive disc as he said, "Beating Doctor Light is much easier than beating Cheshire or Red X."
Doctor Light smiled arrogantly as he exclaimed, "You and the Titans may have defeated me in the past, but you are no match for me on your own!"
Speedy smiled proudly as he said, "Then it's a good thing I'm here too."
He and Robin smiled at each other before Speedy shot an explosive arrow and Robin threw his explosive disc. Doctor Light created a force-field that both weapons blew up against, then he dropped the force-field and smiled evilly. He then formed yellow orbs of energy in his hands and threw them at Speedy and Robin, but they both dodged the blasts. Robin ran at Doctor Light while Speedy shot an arrow at him; Doctor light blocked the arrow with a barrier of energy on the back of his right gauntlet. He then fired a yellow ray from his left hand at Robin and blasted him on his back as he slid across the floor. He stopped next to Speedy, who helped him onto his feet before they both glared at Doctor Light while he smiled maniacally. He then held both his hands out and fired a yellow ray from both of them, but Robin and Speedy ran to the side to avoid it. He kept shooting the ray as he turned and tried to hit Speedy and Robin as they kept running, but they stopped and slid under it.
Doctor Light stopped shooting and stared at the two young heroes as Speedy readied an arrow and said, "Your suit's tough, but you're still pretty weak."
She shot the arrow at Doctor Light but he destroyed it in the air as he shot a yellow blast of energy from his right hand.
Doctor Light smiled maniacally as he said, "Maybe so, but I do have a bright idea!"
He then lit up the light on his chest and it shined so brightly that it blinded Robin and Speedy as they shielded their faces.
Speedy then cried in despair and yelled, "I can't see!"
Robin promptly replied, "Me neither!"
Doctor Light stopped shining the bright light as Speedy and Robin's eyesight slowly began to return as they looked toward him. Before they could do anything he pulled his arms back and threw a big orb of yellow energy at them and blasted them both to the floor. They let out groans of pain before finally losing consciousness while Doctor Light smiled victoriously.
He lowered his arms and started walking as he gloated, "Now you see the light!"
He walked over to the plexiglass cylinder and smiled maniacally as he stared at the Solar Amplifier inside it. He then held up his left arm as he made a hard light blade come out of his gauntlet and used it to cut through the cylinder. He cut a round hole and lifted the machine out of the cylinder with both arms and held it close to his chest, it was heavy but he managed to carry it.
As he held it he smiled maniacally and said, "With this my greatest invention will finally be complete and I will be invincible!"
He looked at Robin and Speedy unconscious as he said, "No one will ever defeat me again!"
He smiled evilly to himself as he walked out of the vault with the Solar Amplifier in his arms and left Robin, Speedy, Red X, and Cheshire alone.
Commercial break
Red X and Cheshire woke up and got on their feet as they groaned while Red X begrudgingly asked, "Okay, where's the headlight?!"
He and Cheshire both looked at Robin and Speedy, who glared at them both as Robin angrily said, "He's gone, thanks to you two!"
Red X sounded mildly annoyed as he said, "Come on kid. You don't think he would've tried to steal it if we hadn't shown up."
Speedy angrily pointed at the two thieves while he said, "Maybe, but you two opened the door for him to walk in."
Cheshire raised her fists at her sides as she fiercely said, "Well let's go after him and kick his glowing butt!"
Robin denied her as he pointed his right thumb at himself while stubbornly saying, "No! We're going after Doctor Light!"
Speedy nodded in agreement as he glared at them and said, "Yeah, you two are going straight to prison!"
Red X looked at them as he corrected him, "Sorry Speedy, you're gonna need our help if you're going to beat that guy."
Robin stubbornly shook his head as he said, "We don't need you two. I've dealt with Doctor Light. He's no serious threat."
Cheshire eyed Robin and spoke smartly as she sarcastically asked, "Then how come he got away with the device?"
Robin's lips wiggled as he angrily glared at her with a red throbbing vein on his forehead, then Speedy looked at Robin and said, "I hate to admit Robin, really I do, but Cheshire's got a point."
Cheshire held her left arm out toward Speedy with her sleeve hanging as she coyly commended, "See? Redhead may not have much skill but he's got brains."
Speedy looked at her with an annoyed expression, then Red X walked toward Robin and said, "You should listen to them Robin. You may have beaten this guy in the past but those times you had all your friends to help you out. He may be weak but his suit's really powerful. Even with the archer here smart money's on the other guy. You need us."
Robin groaned in an annoyance as he looked at him and Cheshire, who angrily said, "He stole our score! We'll beat him and take it back ourselves."
Red X held his left hand out toward Robin as he politely said, "Besides, we've worked together to fight bad guys before Robin. Why can't we do the same this time?"
Speedy looked at Robin as he honestly said, "Robin, I don't like it anymore than you do, but I think we do need their help. The two of us really aren't enough to take down Doctor Light."
Robin let out a weary sigh as he surrendered and pointed at the two thieves as he said, "Okay, but after we stop him you're both going to jail."
Cheshire spoke deviously as she said, "We'll see."
Speedy glanced around at the three of them as he curiously asked, "So any clue how we're going to find Doctor Light anyway?"
Red X had a sly look in his eyes as he said, "I've got a pretty good idea."
Meanwhile in a large abandoned building
Doctor Light was working in a room with equipment he had already set up, including a machine he had been working on. The machine was almost cylinder-shaped and it was black and white with small lights and cables on the sides of it. There was also a giant lightbulb on top of the machine that was almost spherical and was currently unlit. Doctor Light was standing at a table that he had placed the Solar Amplifier on and he had a bunch of tools as he started working.
He took a couple of tools in his hands and smiled maniacally as he said to myself, "At last all will bow to the genius of Doctor Light. No more will the Titans be able to defeat me like an insignificant pickpocket and the villains of the world will finally respect me! No one will treat me like a joke, like a sad little man ever again!"
He used several tools to dismantle the Solar Amplifier; he took it apart piece by piece and scattered the parts all over the table. He then finally found the part he was looking for, the energy source which already had the power of sunlight stored inside. It was contained within a capsule the size of a basketball and glowed bright yellow, so bright that it shined light on everything around it. He smiled as he held it in his hand and stared at it in awe as he thought about the power within it and what he could do with it.
Doctor Light smiled evilly as he walked over his machine with the capsule and put it in while saying, "The sun, the greatest source of light and power on Earth and all those fools could think to do with it is power a city. Only I, the brilliant Doctor Light, could see its true potential and now I will use it to reach MY full potential."
Once he put the power source in his machine it powered up as the lightbulb on top shined bright yellow, much to Doctor Light's joy. He turned around and then the machine's cables attached to his suit before the machine attached to the back of his suit. The energy from his machine started powering his suit, enhancing its capabilities exponentially and making him more powerful. Doctor light started floating in the air as a bright yellow glow surrounded his body as his suit was more powerful than ever. He smiled manically as he became mad with power and stared at his hands while the gauntlets lit up and then he clinched his fists.
He smiled as he raised his fists over his head and exclaimed, "At last! At last I have the power that I deserve!"
Suddenly he heard a beeping and he looked over his shoulder at a computer that showed something a light blinking. The light was getting closer and it indicated that something was approaching his hideout at a high speed.
Knowing who it was, Doctor Light smiled maniacally as he said, "And what better way to demonstrate my new power than by destroying two Titans? Including their brave leader!"
Meanwhile Red X, Robin, Speedy, and Cheshire were driving through the streets of Bare City on their way to Doctor Light. Red X was leading the way as he drove his motorcycle while Robin followed on his R-Cycle and Speedy drove his own motorcycle with Cheshire riding behind him. Speedy's motorcycle looked almost exactly like Robin's R-Cycle but it was dark yellow and had an "S" on the side. Robin and Speedy were both wearing helmets while Red X and Cheshire did not and Cheshire had her arms around Speedy's waist.
While Speedy drove Cheshire spoke happily as she said, "Nice ride you've got here. Sweet of you to take me for a spin on it."
Speedy felt awkward doing this as he tried to ignore her and just stared forward with a serious expression.
Red X spoke up as he said, "We're almost there."
Robin pulled his R-Cycle up next to Red X as he suspiciously asked, "How do you know Doctor Light is here?"
Red X stared forward as he honestly answered, "When I first arrived in Bare City I scoped out some abandoned buildings for potential hideouts. One of them had some fresh tools, equipment, and hardware on the top floor. I knew someone was already using it so I bailed before anyone spotted me. It's gotta be where he's hiding out."
Robin's eyes widened a bit with a troubled expression before he seriously stared forward while saying, "Equipment and hardware? What's Doctor Light up to?"
They pulled up in front of the building when Red X said, "This is it."
They all got off the motorcycles and stared at the building for a moment before Robin turned and said, "Okay, let's see if we can get the drop on him. Let's fall in stealthily and try to do this quietly."
They all nodded in agreement and swiftly hurried into the building without making a sound, unaware that Doctor Light detected them earlier. Robin lead the way as they quietly snuck through the floors of the building and made their way higher up. Speedy got his bow and arrow ready and pointed it around in case Doctor Light tried to sneak attack them. They silently opened the doors and checked each and every room as they made their way all the way to the top floor. Robin led the way as he approached a certain room and used hand signals to motion for the others to proceed. They followed his command and silently joined him before entering the room where Doctor Light did his work.
He was nowhere in sight but they saw his tools and equipment as Red X said, "This is the place. He was here."
They started examining the room while Speedy sarcastically said, "You don't say."
Cheshire found the table with the parts from the Solar Amplifier and angrily yelled, "X! Take a look at this!"
Red X joined her and angrily stared at the parts as he said, "That quack butchered our cash cow! He's gonna pay for this!"
Cheshire agreed as she showed her claws and fiercely say, "I'll say! We'll teach him a lesson he'll never forget!"
Robin held his hand out toward them with a serious expression as he said, "Easy you two. We'll catch Doctor Light and punish him for this, but we're not going down that road."
They all looked up at the ceiling as they heard Doctor Light's voice say, "Then I suggest you come up here and face me yourselves!"
Speedy then urgently exclaimed, "He's on the roof! Let's go!"
The four of them ran up a staircase and arrived on the roof but still did not see Doctor Light as they looked around. They saw old crates, garbage cans, and other large pieces of junk but they were the only people on the rooftop.
Robin then fiercely demanded, "Where are you?! Show yourself!"
They were startled when Doctor Light floated down in front of them with the yellow glow surrounding his body.
Doctor Light grinned evilly as he stared at all four of them and said, "All four of you? Double the fun! Fortune shines bright on me!"
Cheshire angrily pointed at Doctor Light as she said, "You destroyed our money machine!"
Doctor Light smiled maniacally as he turned around to show them the machine on his back as he said, "I only needed the solar energy stored inside it! With its power enhancing my suit I am now invincible and no one can stop me!"
Robin glared at him as he defiantly said, "We'll see about that!"
He threw an explosive disc at Doctor Light but he blocked with a small barrier of energy on the back of his right gauntlet. He dropped it and then fired a yellow ray at them from the light on his chest and the four teens quickly scattered to avoid it. The ray missed and blasted a huge hole in the rooftop into the room below and they all stared at the hole before looking back at Doctor Light.
He smiled arrogantly as he created an orb of yellow energy in his left hand and maniacally said, "Fools! You can't stop me! I have the power of the sun in the palm of my hand!"
He then threw a yellow blast of energy at them but they dodged it as it exploded and Robin yelled, "Take him down!"
Red X then eagerly said, "You don't have to tell me twice!"
He then formed three red x-shaped blades in his left hand and threw them at Doctor Light, but he shot a yellow ray from his right hand and destroyed them. Red X then fired two red lasers from his palms and they crossed as they approached him but he created a force-field and blocked them. He then shot a yellow blast of energy at Red X but Red X teleported out of the way, thus dodging the blast. Doctor Light then turned his attention to the others as Cheshire jumped at him and held her arms out as she prepared to slash her claws at him. Doctor Light floated backwards and dodged her attacks before forming a yellow blade of energy from his left gauntlet. He swung it at Cheshire but she dodged it before Speedy shot an arrow at him, but Doctor Light destroyed it with his energy blade.
Red X teleported near Doctor Light as he looked at Cheshire and yelled, "Cheshire, I'll hold him you slice!"
He then held his left hand out and shot a red cable from his glove with the x-shaped sticky thing on the end of it. It stuck to Doctor Ligh's chest as Red X pulled him and made him stumble, meanwhile Cheshire pulled out her war fan and ran at Doctor Light. She swung her tessen at him but he blocked it with an energy shield on the back of his arm and then swung it at her and knocked her away. Doctor Light then used his yellow energy blade to cut the cable Red X had attached to him before throwing a yellow blast of energy at him. Red X teleported and dodged it as it exploded, then Speedy came shot another arrow at Doctor Light, zapping him with electricity. Doctor Light cried in pain before pulling the arrow off of him and glaring at Speedy as he groaned with hatred. He then formed a yellow whip of light with his right hand and lashed it at Speedy, he lassoed him and threw him at Cheshire, knocking them both down.
Doctor Light's glow went away as he landed on the rooftop and smiled evilly as he gloated, "It seems the lights are not all on upstairs."
Robin came behind him and shot his grapple out and used it to snare Doctor Light as it wrapped around his upper body. Doctor Light then released a yellow shockwave of energy from his suit and destroyed the cable, thus freeing himself. He turned to Robin and held his hands out as he shot yellow blasts of energy at him, but Robin ran and dodged them before sliding across the rooftop. He took cover behind the door as Doctor Light stopped shooting and walked toward him, Robin came out from the other side of the door and kicked Doctor Light away. He stumbled before regaining his footing as he looked at Robin, who pulled out his bo staff and prepared to swing it at him. Doctor Light immediately turned invisible, startling Robin as he looked around and had no idea where he was. Doctor Light then came behind Robin and kicked him down, Robin got up and kept trying to find Doctor Light, but he kept sneaking up on him and hitting him from different angles. Robin stopped and calmed down as he took a deep breath while he closed his eyes and listened to the sounds around him. He then heard the sounds of footsteps behind him and swung his bo staff, successfully hitting Doctor Light and knocking him down.
Doctor Light glared at Robin, who smugly grinned down at him as he said, "You need to work on your stealth."
Doctor Light got on his knees and shot a yellow ray from his chest, but Robin jumped back and dodged it while Doctor Light stood back up.
Doctor Light then seemingly duplicated himself as two extras stood beside him, but Robin said, "Nice try, they're just holograms."
One of them punched Robin and knocked him down, then all three smiled evilly as they said, "They're made of light but they hurt as much as the real thing!"
They all started punching at Robin while he dodged them, while Speedy and Cheshire got up and watched. Speedy then put three of his arrows in his bow at the same time and launched all three of them out when Robin was clear. All the arrows exploded on impact, two of them made the fake Doctor Lights disappear while the third blasted the real Doctor Light off his feet. He got up and glared at them when Red X teleported above him and dropped on top of him, pinning him down. Doctor Light's suit glowed as he released a bunch of energy that blasted Red X off of him, only for him to land on his feet.
Doctor Light stood up and glared at him while Red X said, "Nice light show. Check out mine!"
He held his hands out and fired blasts of red energy shaped like x's; both of them hit Doctor Light and blasted him back. He stopped and floated in the air as the yellow glow surrounded his body again; he held his right hand out and trapped Red X in a bubble of energy. Red X teleported out of it and joined Robin, Speedy, and Cheshire as they all glared at Doctor Light while he smiled arrogantly at them. Cheshire threw a few shurikens at him but he destroyed them as he shot a yellow ray from his left hand before they could hit him. Doctor Light fired another ray from the light on his chest and blasted Cheshire, knocking her off the rooftop while Speedy watched in horror. As she fell she quickly pulled out her kusarigama and threw out the blade while she held onto the chain. The sickle grappled onto the ledge of the rooftop and she held on tightly as she swung down and planted her feet on the side of the building. She started climbing up while Robin and Red X kept Doctor Light occupied; Red X launched some red x-shaped explosives at Doctor Light, but he formed a force-field that protected himself. They exploded against his force field and when he dropped it Robin threw a birdarang at him, but Doctor Light dodged it and threw a yellow blast of energy at Robin. Robin narrowly dodged it as it exploded, but the blast knocked him off his feet and he got up before Doctor Light tried to blast him again. Cheshire was nearly back on the rooftop when she noticed the sickle of her kusarigama was slipping and she fell.
Speedy quickly grabbed her hand and caught her as he said, "Gotcha!"
He pulled Cheshire back on the rooftop and she stared at him as she expressed shock and gratitude as she said, "Thanks."
They both turned to Doctor Light and noticed that he had Robin on the ropes, prompting Speedy to shoot two arrows at him. Both exploded against Doctor Light but he only showed annoyance as he glared at them and threw a big blast of yellow energy using both his hands. Speedy and Cheshire dodged the blast as it blew a hole in the side of a building across the street, which Speedy and Cheshire saw.
Red X and Robin joined the two of them when Speedy noticed he had only one arrow left as he said, "I've got one arrow left."
They all stared up at Doctor Light as he floated in the air and arrogantly gloated, "You are no match for the brilliance of Doctor Light!"
He blasted a ray at them but they dodged it and Red X said, "I hate to say it, but I think he's right. He's weak but his suit's too strong."
Speedy thought for a moment and said, "The path to victory is to use your opponent's strength against him."
Cheshire kept staring at Doctor Light as she pessimistically said, "Thanks for listening to me red, but I don't see how we can use his power against him."
Robin smiled slyly as he looked at Red X and said, "I've got an idea. Red X, do you know how to use the X-Shield?"
Red X had a sly look in his eyes as he turned from Robin to Doctor Light as he said, "I like the way you think kid. Hey bright! If you're so powerful, how come you can't hit us! We're right here. X marks the spot."
Doctor Light then shot a powerful ray from the light on his chest, but Red X put his hands together before throwing them out. He then created a giant red energy shield shaped like an x; the shield deflected the ray and sent it back at Doctor Light. He cried in pain as the ray hit him and blasted him back through the air before he recovered and floated again. He fired two yellow rays from both his hands but they scattered to avoid them as they split up in groups of two, Red X went with Robin while Speedy went with Cheshire.
Speedy stared at Doctor Light in a bit of fear as he said, "If that didn't stop him what will?!"
Cheshire noticed Doctor Light had turned his attention to Robin and Red X as he repeatedly blasted at him while they dodged his attacks.
Cheshire spoke seriously as she turned to Speedy and said, "Maybe a little misdirection."
Speedy was confused as he asked, "What?"
Cheshire then pointed at Speedy's remaining arrow while she said, "I'll draw his attention and give you a shot. Make it count."
Speedy still didn't understand but assured her, "I don't miss."
She then ran out like a ninja as she shouted, "Hey Christmas tree! Think you're fast? Try and hit me!"
She ran under Doctor Light while he angrily floated and shot a yellow ray from his chest as he shot it up to try and hit her while she kept running.
Speedy then noticed the machine on Doctor Light's back as his eyes widened as he said, "Look for an opening and strike at it!"
He immediately got his last arrow ready and aimed at Doctor Light, who laughed maniacally as his ray came close to hitting Cheshire while she was running out of room, approaching the edge of the roof. Speedy then shot the arrow at the machine on Doctor Light's back, and the arrow destroyed the giant lightbulb on top.
Hitting his target, Speedy smiled victoriously as he said, "Lights out!"
Doctor Light's ray ceased fire and the yellow glow surrounding his body vanished as his suit started sparking with electricity.
Doctor Light promptly looked at the machine on his back in shock and despair as he cried, "What?! NOOOO!"
He then fell down on the rooftop and looked at his hands as his suit stopped sparking as he was now powerless. He turned his head as he saw Red X jump at him and kick his leg out as he shot a restraint from the red x on his boot. The restraint ensnared Doctor Light's upper body as his jaw dropped in fear, then Cheshire came running at him and kicked him in the face. He fell down on the roof and lost consciousness while Robin, Red X, Cheshire, and Speedy gathered around and looked down at him.
Red X folded his arms as he smugly quipped, "Out like a light."
Robin and Speedy smiled at Red X and Cheshire as Robin honestly said, "Thanks for the help you two, but you're still gonna have to go to jail too."
Red X had a devious look in his eyes as he said, "Come on kid. I've helped you out several times. Can't you just give up this whole bringing me in thing."
Robin smirked as he said, "Not unless you give up your life of crime."
Red X backed away as he stared at Robin and said, "Well then, until next time."
He then made his escape as he teleported away, prompting Robin to show a mildly annoyed expression even though he wasn't surprised.
Speedy then stepped closer to Cheshire and asked, "So, I guess this is where you disappear into the night too, huh?"
Cheshire stepped toward him as she spoke with a friendly tone and said, "Yeah, but there's something else I'd like to do first."
Speedy stared at her with confusion as a bubble with a red question mark appeared directly above his head. To his shock, Cheshire then removed her mask and showed her face as she smiled at him somewhat flirtatiously. Speedy stared at her, almost smitten by her beautiful face that he never expected to see, especially willingly. Cheshire had a somewhat round face with beautiful brown eyes with thin black eyebrows above them. She also had a small lovely nose and big beautiful lips that smiled back at him as she came closer to him. He became somewhat nervous and awkward until she grabbed his shirt and pulled him toward her face. She closed her eyes as she passionately kissed him on the lips while he let out a muffled cry of shock and stared forward with his eyes wide open while blushing bright red. She then stopped kissing him and released him while smiling back at him for a moment while he kept blushing bright red.
He was speechless as he asked, "What was that for?"
Cheshire smiled affectionately as she answered, "A little thank you for saving me. You're a good guy. I hope to see you again soon."
She then put her mask back off and turned around as she ran off while Speedy kept staring at her with the blush on his face.
She stood on the ledge of the rooftop and looked back at him as she said, "Bye, Speedy."
She then threw a smoke pellet down and disappeared through the smoke while Speedy just stared into space, still blushing. He was amazed that she actually called him by his name as he leaned forward with his arms hanging limp as little pink hearts floated around him.
Robin then walked next to Speedy with his arms folded as he smirked slyly and teased, "Well, it looks like you've finally found the right girl."
Speedy quickly became embarrassed as he looked away and denied, "What?! I have no idea what you're talking about!"
Robin kept smirking at him as he sarcastically said, "Sure you don't."
He kept looking away as he folded his arms and denied, "She and Red X got away, but we captured Doctor Light. That's all that matters."
Robin kept grinning as he looked at Speedy from behind and coyly said, "I wonder if she'd give you another kiss if you helped her out again."
Speedy felt very embarrassed as he kept facing away from Robin and blushed even brighter with his arms folded.
Robin then caressed his chin as he slyly looked away and said, "You know, it kind of reminds me of the first time Starfire kissed me, the day I met her."
Speedy then turned to Robin, still red as he vehemently denied, "It would never work! She's a thief and I'm a hero!"
Robin stopped smiling as he put his hands on his sides and solemnly said, "Trust me Speedy, relationships are complicated. Love is hard, it's never easy to figure out. It's supposed to be simple but it's not."
Speedy's expression softened slightly before he stubbornly said, "It doesn't matter. She's just trying to mess with me. She'd never date me for real."
Robin's grin reappeared again as he shrugged his shoulders and said, "You never know. She kind of reminds me of another thief I met once. Ruthless but not evil, wild but not crazy, and dangerous but very beautiful."
Speedy blushed brighter before finally deciding to drop it as he said, "Let's just take Doctor Light to jail already!"
They both walked over to the unconscious Doctor Light while Robin kept smiling and said, "Okay, but I really think that kiss was more than just a way of saying 'thank you'."
Speedy just stared at Doctor Light with an annoyed expression as he and Robin lifted the unconscious villain up and started carrying him. While they walked Speedy looked at the ledge where Cheshire stood before and thought about what Robin said. Despite his denial he was hoping that he would see Cheshire again and he felt that Robin did describe her quite accurately. He and Robin carried Doctor Light off the rooftop while Speedy secretly thought hard about what Robin said and his interactions with Cheshire.
In a tree just outside of Bare City, Cheshire stared at the city as she said to herself, "I owe you one arrow boy."
She then jumped down from the tree and walked into the forest by herself, also thinking about Speedy and their time together.

Author's note: This was a great filler episode. I'll admit I'm not sure it's worth the Japanese opening theme song but it's still funny. I wanted to do an episode where we see Robin and Speedy working together on a solo mission, nice way to show their friendship. I also wanted to foreshadow Speedy and Cheshire eventually becoming a couple. They're not together yet but there's definitely an attraction between them. I wanted to give Cheshire more weapons, but not gadgets, so that's where I got the idea of the kusarigama and the tessen. I got the war fan idea from the live action "Avatar The Last Airbender". The kusarigama seemed like a good choice too because she can use it in different ways, and for more than just fighting. Please review.
