On second thought, there's one thing you can still do. You weren't the one who put the seal on Tatsuki, and you certainly weren't involved in the extended family history that led to its creation, but you are the reason why she found out about it like she did. Isshin certainly seemed put out that you brought up some of his family's private matters in a public venue, and he appreciated your apology, minor though it was; the least you can do is offer Tatsuki the same courtesy, and apologize for setting in motion the chain of events that led to her lying unconscious on the cafeteria floor.
And while you wait, you can try to get a word in edgewise with the wizard... who has just pulled out an old-fashioned pocketwatch. He scowls at the exposed face of the device, then snaps it shut and tucks it away.
"Well, then," Ambrose says. "As it appears that I have expended the full measure of advice I am currently able and willing to unload, I shall be taking my leave."
"Before you go," Masaki says, "could you... hide these, again?" She gestures to the chains.
"Oh, right. Of course, dear lady." He waves his staff, and just like that, the chains vanish. "There we are. Everything back to normal. Right, then. I'm off."
You open your mouth to say something-
"Oh, wait," the wizard says, pausing in mid-turn. "I almost forgot."
ENLIGHTENMENT! NOW IN LIVING COLOR!
Ow! Goddesses damn it, what was that for? You hadn't even said anything!
"That ought to help keep you out of trouble," Ambrose says. "At least until I have some free time in my very busy schedule to come up with a more satisfactory arrangement."
"Ambrose!" Altria snaps.
"What did you do?" Briar yells. "That's a seal! Why did you put a seal on Alex?"
He did what?!
"Just a precautionary measure, dear lady. Normally I wouldn't interfere, but even I'm not so reckless as to leave a half-trained, self-taught sorcerer wandering around unsupervised on the Hellmouth to do as he pleases. Certainly not one with the boy's level of potential. Dealing with apocalypses is such a bother. Now, now, no need to thank me; just doing my civic duty as a citizen of the world that would like very much to keep the world turning."
"Thank you? Thank you?" Briar shrieks. "You old bastard, I'm going to pull your beard out by the roots!"
"You'll have to catch me first!" There is a sound of rustling cloth, and fast footsteps. "Good-bye, all! Until next time!"
"Come back here, you creep!"
Ichigo's face appears in your field of vision. It occurs to you at this point that, like Tatsuki, you're apparently lying on the floor - although you, at least, appear to have resisted being knocked unconscious.
"Are you okay, Alex?" the orange-haired boy asks.
"I just got whacked in the head by a long, heavy, and very hard piece of wood," you growl in reply. "It hurt."
"Okay," you hear Cordelia's voice, "I just saw a skinny old man dressed like a beach bum go running past like he was competing for the hundred meter sprint, cackling like a maniac, with Briar right on his heels screaming about shoving something called Deku Nuts up his nose, and then punching him in the face."
...don't Deku Nuts explode when they're subjected to a certain level of force? You're pretty sure that's the case.
"And now," Cordelia continues, "I come in here, and find Alex lying on the floor, looking like he's been beaten over the head. I'd really like to know how that happened, and since it was the old man that Briar was after, I'm looking at you for the answers, Miss British Blonde. Start talking."
It's kind of heartwarming to know that your friends care about you enough to commit violence on your behalf. On the other hand, Cordy's aiming at the wrong people. You should probably stop her, but you're also rather urgently concerned with checking on the seal that Ambrose apparently slapped on you. In the hour since your last fight, rest and food have restored... well, trace amounts of magic, but enough that you might be able to cast a single divination spell and look at yourself mystically. You might want to run an internal ki scan first, though, just to make sure everything non-magical is as it should be.
