"That's as much as I can ask," you say, nodding respectfully to the blonde. She returns the gesture.

"So, what? That's it?" Cordelia asks. "You're just going to let the old bum get away with this?"

"There's really nothing else I can do right now, Cordy," you reply. "I'm still tapped-out magically, and my ki abilities are all about hitting things harder. Even if I do kind of want to punch the guy's face in, trying to take on an experienced wizard with my level of martial arts doesn't strike me as something that's likely to end well."

"Not unless you take him by surprise," Lu-sensei notes offhandedly. "But even that's not guaranteed to work."

Glancing briefly at your sensei, you continue. "I figure the best thing I can do right now is rest up, study what the seal does and how it does it - maybe learning something useful in the process - and then decide whether I want to get rid of the thing or if I'd be better off just ignoring it."

Cordelia stares at you. "How do you 'just ignore' somebody casting a spell like that on you?"

"...a sense of proportion, I guess," you say after a moment. Really, while what you saw of it looked quite well put-together, Ambrose's seal is frankly small potatoes compared to the ones Ganondorf had to deal with - not that you're going to mention that in public. "I mean, this seal is nothing compared to Tatsuki's, and she hasn't sworn to beat the crap out of anybody responsible for hers yet, so what right do I have to complain?"

The brunette shakes her head. "Fine, whatever. But if I see that creep again, I'm going to give him a piece of my mind, and a good solid kick."

"Good luck with that," Briar grumbles as she flutters back into the room. "He's a slippery old bastard." Alighting on your shoulder, Briar places a tiny hand on your cheek. "Are you okay, Alex?"

"I'm fine, Briar." You explain what you've learned about the seal, which seems to reassure the fairy.

"Did you want me to take a look at it?" she offers.

You do, actually, but is it necessary to do so right now? Briar is no more of an expert on seals than you are, and she's got a lot less raw power to work with - she's unlikely to be able to do anything about it, except offer a description that you won't really be able to make use of for another day or two at the soonest. It'd be more constructive to wait until your magic has recovered enough to allow you to observe the seal yourself, then talk with Briar about her thoughts on its workings, and compare them to your own. Plus, you do have an unconscious girl on the floor who might benefit from a little more fairy magic right now.
