"Who Din is, and how I know about her, is a somewhat complicated subject," you say in a quiet voice, while glancing over your shoulder at the door. It's getting rather noisy out there, if in a different way from the multi-layered violence that was present before. "And since this isn't the most secure of locations, I don't think we can really afford to talk about all the details right now." Seeing that neither girl is exactly thrilled with this response, you turn to your fairy. "Briar, could you fill them in on the basics of the Goddesses? I want to check something."

Briar nods, and begins telling Altria and Cordelia what sounds like the creation myth of Hyrule, while you release Cordelia's hand and make your way to the door. As the fairy describes how the Golden Goddesses emerged and shaped "the world," you glance outside to see what's up, and whether or not anyone is eavesdropping.

The atrium has what looks like fifty or more of the tournament officials running around, alone or in small groups, spread out across the ground floor and the balcony. Some appear to be administering first aid to certain of their peers, who you take to be the ones that tried to fight the shadow-creature, and you see at least two of the more unfortunate of those souls being hauled away on stretchers by their associates. Other robed men appear to be carrying out the early stages of a crime scene investigation, putting up "No Entry" barriers and hazard signs to keep people out of the area where the battle took place. Some are just standing there, looking like particularly fancily-dressed security, and the dozen or so that are left are talking amongst themselves, while a few of their number question Lu-sensei, an irritated-looking Ambrose, and that janitor you saw earlier, who's as white as a sheet and visibly shaking.

There are a number of officials close enough to be listening in on your group in the front desk office, assuming they used ki, but with the noise of so many bodies moving around and various conversations underway... you pause and ki-enhance your own ears, to see what it sounds like, and if anything intelligible comes through at a similar range.

"-laid down the laws of nature," Briar's voice says clearly from behind you. She's gotten to Nayru's role in the creation of Hyrule, then.

"-my students without me present," Lu-sensei is saying firmly to the man questioning him.

"-that again and I'll turn you into a toad," Ambrose says flatly. The official talking to him recoils visibly.

"-left a trail of missing ki," an unfamiliar voice says in clear amazement. "Never seen anything like it-"

"-to call the police," says a man who sounds more authoritative than most of the officials you've encountered thus far. "We responded in time, and the evidence is-"

"-infirmary's going to be working overtime," someone says sourly. "Let's hope none of the kids see-"

"-have to cut back on the candy, my friend. You're getting chubby-"

"-eyes, eyes in the dark," someone whispers in tones of hushed terror.

"-been worse. Nothing major's broken, nobody's dead-"

"-put this cart, anyway?"

"Seriously, what was that thing?"

Shaking your head, you let the enhancement fall. There's simply too many voices, too many different threads of discussion to try and follow any one. Maybe if you had more practice, you'd be able to home in on a topic of interest, but as it is, there's no way. The fact that you can't listen in on a conversation across a busy room hardly proves that it can't be done at all, only that it's a feat which would take some skill. A quick look around the room with ki-enhanced sight - both for aura-reading and for basic enhancement - shows no one who is obviously spying on you, or even looking in the direction of the office. Nor do you notice anyone who is trying too hard not to look in your direction. Again, that doesn't really prove that someone isn't spying on you, just that their abilities would have to be beyond yours.

Just as you let the technique go, one of the nearby officials notices your presence in the doorway. "Is there something I can help you with, young man?"
