"That's up to you," you say in response to Ambrose's question. "Personally, I'm going to keep my guard up, my head down, and one eye on Beryl until the tournament's over."

"You do not intend to alert the authorities?" Altria asks, frowning slightly.

"I considered it, but honestly, what would I tell them? That I know Beryl was involved in yesterday's incident because I get a creepy feeling from her?" You shake your head. "I've got no evidence, nothing but my word and maybe my teacher's that someone whose aura was like Beryl's was even at the scene - and given other events over the last few days, I get the distinct impression that at least some of the guys running this show don't like me or my teacher."

The blonde appears troubled by this.

"Besides," you add, "I don't fancy the idea of doing anything to offend a powerful being who already has at least one reason to be upset with me. That may just be my Sunnydale survivor instincts talking, but..." You trail off with a shrug.

"Not a bad policy, at that," Ambrose admits.

"Ambrose?" Altria asks.

"My dear girl, whatever your natural talents and training, you're both all of eight years old. In this sort of situation, the proper thing to do is to tell an adult, and let them deal with the problem, which is exactly what Alexander has done." The wizard turns to you. "I assume you've already warned your master about this?"

You nod.

"Then you may inform him that I'll keep an eye on the young lady, at least until the tournament is over. It's up to him whether or not to inform the officials - even if some of them dislike the man, he probably knows which ones are open-minded or professional enough to take a warning about the security of their little event seriously. I certainly don't."

"That's fine by me," you reply.

"Good. Now, if you'll excuse me, I left a young lady in the lurch. As a proper gentleman, I cannot let that situation abide." And off he goes.

Altria sighs, then regards you. "You are certain this is what you wish to do?"
