Munk Musings #3: "Out for Ice Cream"
Alvin stepped out of a local ice cream cafe and presented 4 cones on a holder, one for him, Brittany, Theodore and Eleanor. They sat out at the outside seating area on a warm but not overbearing summer day, perfect for spending a day out on main street.
Alvin: Your sweet treats have arrived. For Britt, 'Very Berry Strawberry'.
Brittany: Thank you Alvin, my favorite!
Alvin: Don't I know it. Up next, Cookies and Cream for Theodore.
Theodore: The best flavor!
Alvin: Let's not start a fight here little man. And of course Mint Chocolate Chip for Eleanor.
Eleanor looked at him with a glare.
Eleanor: Alvin, how long have we known each other?
Alvin: Is that a loaded question?
Eleanor: All these years later and you still think mint chip is my favorite? What because I love the color green? Is that it?
Alvin: Wait hold on a minute-
Eleanor: I thought you knew ME better than that!
Alvin recoiled but after a minute to think, smirked as Brittany and Theodore snickered.
Alvin: So then what is your favorite?
Eleanor smirked back and started to giggle.
Eleanor: ...Mint Chip. Give it here.
Alvin: Thought so.
Simon and Jeanette walked to a park bench as they watched the ducks land on the water of the park pond where fish swam. They also ordered ice cream cones but decided to sit further away from everyone in their own little world. They stood in front of each other with their hands behind their backs.
Simon: R-Ready?
Jeanette: 1...2...3!
They showed what was behind their hands and presented to each other a cone for the other.
Simon as they exchanged cones: Perfect score! This is exactly what my clues were alluding to. 'Chocolate Mousse'.
Jeanette, receiving hers: Heh, thanks. I was hoping to trick you with something simple and obvious.
Simon: I'll admit... vanilla was such an obvious answer once I figured it out. Occam's Razor, after all.
Jeanette: Great job regardless.
They sat down at the bench and watched the pond as they ate their ice cream.
Simon: W-Wouldn't you much prefer your favorite? Vanilla seems like a waste.
Jeanette shook her head: Nope, it's worth it because this was a fun idea.
Simon: Agreed.
Jeanette: Besides, that's not your favorite either.
Simon: C-Correct. In fact this might have been a little too chocolate-y...
Jeanette: D-Do you want to get another one?
Simon smiled to himself: No, that's alright. After all, it was a part of our game.
Jeanette and Simon continued to enjoy their private afternoon before they were eventually called by Alvin and company, which of course was in the most obnoxious way possible that embarrassed them both.
Munk Musings #4: "Forgetting to Remember..."
Jeanette walked through the aisle of the supermarket as she talked to herself and Alvin who was right behind her with an extra basket.
Jeanette: Alvin, were you listening?
Alvin, looking down to his phone: Yeah yeah, it was definitely a weird coincidence that you both forgot to turn the garden hose off.
Jeanette: It could have been dangerous for the garden!
Alvin: I can't imagine.
Jeanette: I'm just glad that he at least tried to do it for me.
Alvin: And here I thought chivalry was dead.
Jeanette stopped to look at the different spices of the aisle as Alvin checked his phone and texted. She looked down to the paper list she wrote and then back up to the tall shelves as her expressions changed to her thoughts.
Alvin: So what are you guys doing with this stuff again?
Jeanette: Theodore teaches me how to cook better when he learns something new at school.
Alvin: And today is...?
Jeanette: He had this lovely idea for meatless spicy 'chicken' wings.
Alvin: Now you're talking my language! Wait, why isn't he here instead of me?
Jeanette turned to him: Alvin! You promised!
Alvin: And you should know that I don't keep those well.
Jeanette: You don't mean that do you? You've never broken a promise to me...
Alvin: Ugh... no, I know. I promised.
Jeanette, turning back to the shelves with a smile on her face: Besides, he was prepping everything else. The least we can do is get the rest of the ingredients. And I got to use one of my birthday favor vouchers!
Alvin: I have got to remember to stop giving those away.
Jeanette: You only give these away because you always forget to actually get a gift. Brittany has like 50 of them.
Alvin: Yeah yeah don't remind me.
Editor's Note: So these are probably a lot more loose and scattered compared to my overall progress of the main story but I figured to time like the present to post them before I forget. Sometimes I just want to make cute and fluffy micro scenes even if they don't line up all the time. Either way I hope you enjoy.
