When Monday rolls around, Craig almost feels like he'd woken from the dream that was the weekend. A lot had happened, it almost didn't feel real. But the guinea pig sticker resting on his desk said otherwise. He picks it up and smiles fondly at it, then grabs his phone, opens its case and places it under the sketch he had received from before. Memories play back in his mind while looking them over, his thumb gently running over them thoughtfully, a soft smile across his lips.
He gets ready for the day and heads out.
When approaching the bus stop, his sister turns to him and scowls, her hands gripping tightly at her backpack straps.
"You could have warned me, you know," she states.
"About what?" Craig asks.
"About the houseguests we had over!"
"Oh."
"The least you could've done was warn me that we had people over so I didn't have to walk out of my room accidentally looking like shit!"
"Well, I didn't even know you were home to be honest, you were so quiet," Craig monotones.
"You could have checked," she sighs, annoyed. She pauses for a moment, looking at him and slightly tilts her head, "So… which one is it?"
"Which one is what?" Craig asks, confused.
"The one you like," she replies flatly.
Surprise crosses Craig's expression, but only for a brief moment, not wanting to give anything away.
"Neither, they're just friends," he replies.
Her eyes narrow, scrutinizing him, her mouth in a frown.
There's a long pause.
"I bet it's both of them," she finally says.
"It's not like that," Craig replies, "why are you so set on this?"
"Cause you've been smiling a lot lately, and it's weirding me out."
Craig gives an unamused stare. Regardless of her hunch being right, he sure as hell wasn't going to tell her. The last thing he needed was to be ruthlessly teased both at school and home, by his sister and Clyde.
"I think you need glasses," Craig monotones.
"Whatever," she scoffs, "I just don't want to see you become all mopey if something goes wrong. It'd be annoying to have to witness."
This somewhat surprises Craig, especially since it was coming from his sister, his sister that was usually so self absorbed with herself and has total disregard for anything and everyone around her. It feels uncharacteristically like her and he honestly doesn't even know how to go about responding to it.
So he doesn't.
Choosing to end their conversation there, and wait for the bus.
The bus arrives a short while later and they get on, making their way down the small aisle. His sister takes a seat somewhere near the middle of the bus section, while Craig carries on until he spots Kenny waving him down near the back, an empty seat next to him.
"Hey," Kenny greets as Craig takes a seat.
"Hey," Craig greets back, with a smile.
His gaze briefly catches a glimpse of his sister in her seat looking back at him, a sly smug smirk plastered across her face. He ignores it, turning his attention back to Kenny. The two of them talking with one another until reaching school.
The morning classes pass by as usual. Craig spends Science class sitting next to Kenny, continuing their conversation from the morning bus ride. Most of which related to the events that happened over the weekend, and sharing some laughs about it.
When lunch rolls around, Craig has the honor of witnessing Clyde's know-it-all smirk facing him, while they sit across from one another outside at a picnic table. Token being absent from them, since he had a club activity to take care of.
"What?" Craig asks.
"You and Kenny seem awfully cozy," Clyde replies, leaning onto a palm, "did you finally ask him out?"
"No…" Craig murmurs.
"Seriously?" Clyde sighs, "Are you sure? Because it really seems like something happened between you two."
"Nothing happened, we're just… friends," Craig tells him.
"Well for 'friends' you two sure don't look like it from the outside," Clyde informs.
They didn't truly look like that, did they? No, surely not, this was Clyde after all, he was the last person on earth that should be saying anything at all on this stuff.
"Seriously man, you should just ask him out already," Clyde drawls.
"I don't want to hear that from someone who hasn't even asked out their own crush yet," Craig tells him.
Clyde's eyes narrow slightly and his lips purse. He knew who Clyde liked and for how long, but unlike Clyde, he didn't constantly keep on pestering him about it, mostly because he didn't really care, but still.
"Fine, how about this then," Clyde sits up straight, "if I ask Bebe out on a date, then you have to ask Kenny out as well. Deal?"
"Sure," Craig rolls his eyes.
"Deal?" Clyde reaches out his hand.
"Deal," Craig sighs, shaking his hand.
"Good. No backing out! This is a deal made among best bros," Clyde states and gets up.
"Where are you going?" Craig asks.
"To ask Bebe out right now."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah! We made a deal!" Clyde states and heads off.
Craig watches as Clyde saunters himself over to a bench that Bebe and her friends are sitting at. He can tell Clyde is nervous just based on his body language, by how stiff his shoulders get. He sees him fumble over his words, but quickly get back on point and try to shrug off his falter. There's a pause in the conversation, Bebe says something, she giggles, Clyde nods, then he turns back around and heads back over to Craig. There's faint giggling that Craig can hear from Bebe and her friends, as Clyde takes a seat at the table again. The look on his face is wide-eyed and distant, as if detached from reality somehow.
"Clyde?" Craig asks, concerned that his friend may have just gotten traumatized by possible rejection.
"She said yes…" Clyde says in disbelief.
"What?" Craig says, genuinely shocked.
"She said yes man," Clyde looks up at him, "I just—I… she said yes!" a wide smile spreads across his lips, "bro—I got a date with Bebe! I can't believe—I—you!" he points, "I kept up my end of the deal—now you got to keep up yours!"
Craig is stunned, utterly, he had no idea that things would actually go this way and is left speechless.
"I'll.. ask him out, but—"
"No buts! You better do it man, or so help me god—"
"I'll do it! Just not right now, alright?!"
"Craig…" Clyde's eyes narrow.
"Look, I promise to ask him, but, I'll ask him when there's… less people around is all."
"Fine," Clyde sighs, "but you should probably do it before the school year ends at least. Summer is just around the corner, and you'll have to wait all through it until you see him again next year."
Craig looks down at the table. He hadn't really thought much of it, but It was true, the school year was coming to an end soon.
"Yeah… I will," he murmurs.
…
Hanging out at the clubhouse after school that day is mostly peaceful. It was just Craig, Kenny and Tweek there, sharing some small talk here and there about their day and how the weekend's events went.
It carries on this relaxed way, until the evening falls and they get ready to head home.
"Want to go swimming?" Kenny asks.
The question comes so out of the blue, that Craig has to take a few seconds to even register it.
"Swimming?"
"Yeah."
"Wha—right now?" Craig asks, confused.
"Yeah."
"Where? The lake?"
"Nah, that's too far," Kenny says, then smirks, "I know somewhere better."
"Why do you want to go swimming all of the sudden?" Craig asks, still confused by this sudden suggestion.
"I just feel like it," Kenny shrugs, but his voice and gaze seem distant, "so?"
"I…" Craig hesitates, still trying to figure out what brought this on so suddenly. There's an odd sense that he gets from Kenny, not a bad one, but there was something more there, something Kenny didn't seem to want to talk about, "Sure."
"Great!" Kenny smiles, he turns to Tweek then, "You want to come along too, Tweek?"
Tweek looks between the two of them, then elsewhere as if in thought, before replying.
"Okay," he nods.
"Then let's get going," Kenny motions.
Since all of them were leaving, Craig decides to bring the flashlight, usually left behind for Tweek, with them.
They make their way through the ever growing dark woods and back to town. Kenny leads the way until they come across a building.
"Wait… isn't this the public swimming pool?" Craig asks.
"What an astute observation Craig," Kenny says playfully, and makes his way over to the fence that surrounds the building.
"We're not breaking in there, are we?" Craig asks.
"'Breaking in' sounds too crime-like, I prefer to say, we're just late night visiting instead."
"Isn't there security here?"
"Relax," Kenny turns to him, "me and my friends have snuck into this place at least 6 times now, it's fine. Besides, do you really think most places even have security in this town?"
He wasn't wrong about that, but Craig was still a bit unsure.
"I don't know…"
There's a slight amused smile that appears across Kenny's face.
"You know, for someone who used to get into constant trouble all the time as a kid, I'm a bit surprised by how law-abiding you've grown up to be," he teases.
There's a faint feeling of embarrassment that fills Craig's cheeks at that, partly wishing that Kenny would have forgotten that aspect of his past.
"Well, I want to have a nice and boring life, so I learned that staying out of trouble as I got older, was the best way to live by that mantra," he explains.
Kenny corks a brow.
"Is nice and boring really all that you want?" he asks.
There's a pause from Craig before he speaks again.
"It's more that I like having peace, so staying out of trouble helps with that."
"That's fair," Kenny nods, "although for me, I think having a nice balance of peace and a bit of trouble, makes for having quite the stories to tell when I'm old," he laughs, his words prompting Craig's thoughts, "but we don't have to—"
"Let's do it," Craig interrupts, surprising Kenny a bit.
"Oh?"
"I mean, compared to most other things, it's not as bad," Craig shrugs, "and besides, like you said, a nice balance of both makes for interesting stories to tell when I'm old."
There's a bit of a smirk that spreads across Kenny's lips.
"Indeed so. So shall we go?" he gestures to the fence.
Craig walks over to him and Kenny moves a bush to the side, revealing a small hole in the fence, as Craig bends down to go through it, Kenny pulls the fence back, lifting it up more so it's big enough for him to pass through. Once Craig's through, he motions for Tweek to go next with his head.
Normally, Craig would never do something like this on his own. Ever. But being around Kenny seemed to have this effect on him, where he found himself feeling almost as if he could do anything in his presence, and was more willing to take risks.
Once Tweek is through, Craig holds the fence up for Kenny to get through, and they proceed onwards. Kenny leads them to a door in the back, and rustles the handle a bit.
"This door never shuts properly," Kenny tells them, "all you have to do is move it around a bit, and—" as if on cue, it opens. He smiles and gestures for them to follow, "come on."
It's only when Craig steps inside the dark building, does his heart beat a bit faster, knowing that he's somewhere he shouldn't be. Craig turns on the flashlight he brought, as they quietly make their way through the hall they had entered into. Their footsteps echo faintly down it, until reaching the wide open space of the pool room, where their steps echo much more loudly off its tiled surface.
"It's a little dark to swim in here, don't you think?" Craig asks.
"Not for long," Kenny tells him, taking out his phone for light.
He walks over to a door and opens it, a few seconds of silence pass before the sudden flicker of underwater lights turn on, illuminating the whole area in an aqua hue.
"Let there be light," Kenny says, exiting the room.
"Won't people see?" Craig asks.
"At this time? Nah, most people are at home by now, either going to bed, or getting ready for bed," Kenny replies.
"I guess so," Craig says, checking his phone.
It was only 9:30 p.m. and still felt as if it was a bit too early for sleep just yet, but most people would've definitely been home by now in this small town.
"Well, ready to jump in?" Kenny asks.
Before Craig can even reply, Kenny is already removing his bag and clothes. Craig tries to look away as Kenny undresses, but mild curiosity has him glancing back at him. Try as he might, Craig's eyes can't stray from the contour of Kenny's body. Heat spreads across his face while shyly peeking over at him. Kenny removes everything except for his underwear, boxers, tossing everything into a pile off to the side, before he faces the pool and jumps in, splashing droplets of water everywhere.
A few seconds later, he resurfaces in front of Craig.
"Well?" Kenny asks, "Don't be shy now, come on in."
There's a playful smile he gives, that only makes the heat across Craig's face burn more.
There's a small splashing sound that catches his attention. Tweek was now squatting next to the pool's edge and moving the water around with his hand, seeming fascinated by it.
"See, even Tweek wants to swim," Kenny tells him with a laugh.
Craig stays still for a few seconds, nervous under the other's gaze, before he takes his bag off and sets it down with the flashlight. Slowly he takes his hoodie and hat off, then his shirt. When it comes to removing his pants however, he pauses, only getting as far as unbuttoning them.
"What's wrong? Afraid that I'll make fun of what type of underwear you're wearing?" Kenny teases.
"No," Craig replies quietly.
"Then why'd you stop?"
"I just…"
Kenny gives a curious look, before a slow sly smirk spreads across his face.
"Am I making you nervous?" he asks.
"N-no!" Craig replies, maybe just a bit too quickly.
"Then what's the hold up?" Kenny chuckles. Craig's face burns more, but he takes his pants off and pushes them into the pile with his socks and shoes. "Boxer briefs, hm?" Kenny says as he swims away.
There's a small chuckle he gives before diving underwater. Craig, meanwhile, is trying to figure out just what that reaction even meant. Why'd he comment that? Why'd he chuckle to himself? What did it mean? Craig's heart was starting to beat as fast as his thoughts were racing.
It was all too much uncertainty, and he needed some peace of mind. So he takes a deep breath and jumps into the water, hoping it would help to calm him.
The water blocks out everything at once as it wraps around him, but the sudden coldness of it quickly greets him. He rushes back up to the surface, gasping for fresh air as he does.
"It's so cold!" Craig exclaims.
"Yeah, just a bit," Kenny laughs.
It takes Craig a second or two to notice just how close Kenny was next to him now.
"How are you not cold?" Craig asks.
"I guess I just have a higher tolerance for it than most," Kenny replies.
"Wish I had that tolerance."
"If you're that cold, I could keep you warm," Kenny tells him.
The words instantly make Craig warm, despite the cold water.
"I-I'm fine, I'll just adjust to the water over time. A-actually I think that I'm already getting used to it!" Craig replies and slowly moves away from him, not wanting the lights to reveal just how red those words made him.
There's another chuckle from Kenny, before he swims off.
They swim around for a while, as Tweek watches on from the side, his hand still moving around in circles in the water, while he sits next to the pool. Eventually, Craig hoists himself up onto the side of the pool and sits there to take a break for a while. He watches Kenny swim around for a while in thought, smiling a bit. A short while later, Kenny swims over to him and rests his arms, crossed, on the side of the pool.
"Tired?" Kenny asks.
"Just taking a break," Craig replies.
"Mind if I join you then?"
"Not at all," Craig replies.
"This place feels so different at night, doesn't it?" Kenny asks.
"Yeah, it's like a completely different vibe," Craig replies. He pauses in thought briefly, before continuing, "is this why you wanted to go swimming?"
Kenny's expression shifts a bit, he then hoists himself up and sits next to Craig. His leg and arm nearly touching him.
"I guess," Kenny replies, "or you could say that I just needed a distraction for a while."
"A distraction from what?"
"Life, I guess," Kenny replies and Craig wonders what that means exactly. Kenny offers a small smile at him then, "But, I also wanted to show you this place."
"Show me? Why?"
"Because I thought you might like it," Kenny pauses, "do you?"
"Well aside from breaking and entering, and the water being just a tad bit cold, yeah, I like it here."
"I'm glad then," Kenny laughs, more so at Craig's response than anything.
There's a sense of calm that fills Craig as they sit there. Taking in the quiet sounds of the water swaying in the pool and the underwater lights dancing in its ripples. There's faint heat Craig feels coming off of Kenny, from how close they were sitting, which he finds comforting in contrast to the cool water and air around them. Part of him is almost tempted to lean in closer and press his leg and arm against Kenny's. He doesn't though, obviously, but that doesn't stop the thought of it.
Craig's attention is drawn to Tweek, who's still preoccupied playing with the water in his hands, seeming focused about something while doing so. Craig figures he must be fascinated by it, and smiles.
"Thanks for bringing me here," Craig says, "and Tweek as well. He seems to be enjoying the water."
"You kind of sound like a parent saying that," Kenny laughs.
"A parent?"
"Yeah, thanking me for taking you and your kid out," he explains, "although, I guess in a way, you kind of are like Tweek's parent, or caregiver. Since you found him and have been taking care of him."
Craig hadn't really thought of it, but it kind of made sense to him now that he did.
"Yeah, I guess so, huh?" Craig says in thought, "But you've been helping him as well."
"So does that make me the other parent?" Kenny asks.
"If you want to see it that way," Craig laughs.
"So we're a pair of teenage parents taking care of their found android son then?"
"Seems so," Craig smiles.
"Although we're not together, we're separated parents," Kenny says.
"That's true," Craig chuckles.
"Maybe we should change that?" Kenny suggests.
"Maybe," Craig smiles in thought.
"Well Craig, do you want to then?" Kenny asks and Craig looks at him, curious by what he means, "Do you want to get together?"
At first Craig thinks that Kenny is just continuing on with their silly conversation about this subject, and he's ready to just laugh it off. But something in Kenny's eyes starts to make him wonder whether or not he's still joking. There's something that touches the tip of his fingers, just barely, it was Kenny's own fingers. Suddenly this starts to seem less like a silly conversation and more like an actual question.
Craig's face begins to heat.
"I—"
The sound of a loud splash catches both of their attentions then and they look over to see where it came from. The first thing Craig notices is that Tweek is gone and there's bubbles rising up to the surface in the water. It takes a few more seconds for him to realize that Tweek is in the water, and doesn't seem to be coming back up.
" Tweek !" Craig yells.
"That's not good," Kenny says, noting the bubbles.
In the next second, Craig is jumping into the water and swimming over to where Tweek is. He dives under the water's surface and finds Tweek at the bottom of the deep end. He makes his way down to him and reaches out a hand towards him. Tweek looks up at him curiously, but reaches a hand up in response and takes Craig's. Craig struggles to swim with Tweek, he's much heavier than he thinks he can manage. He tries to place Tweek's arm around the back of his neck so he can use more of his body, but still finds it difficult. A couple seconds later, something touches him, it's Kenny. He wraps an arm around his neck as well, to help Craig move him up to the surface. A few seconds later they breach the surface and Craig gasps desperately for fresh air to fill his lungs. With Kenny's help, he manages to make it over to the shallow end and pull Tweek out of the water.
Craig coughs, sputtering out some water.
"You okay?" Kenny asks, placing a hand on his back.
"Yeah, I'm okay," Craig replies between coughs. Kenny doesn't move away though, keeping his hand placed gently on his back until his coughing calms down. It's only when it stops, does he move away. Craig looks up at Tweek then, "What happened? Did you fall in?"
"I wanted to try swimming," Tweek replies.
"Are you okay?" Craig asks and Tweek nods. Craig sighs then and looks down, he raises his arms up and places his hands on Tweek shoulders, "It might be best if you stay away from large bodies of water from now on, alright?" he smiles.
"Alright," Tweek nods.
"I'm glad you're alright," Craig says, and hugs him.
"Sorry for worrying you," Tweek says, slowly returning the gesture.
"I'm glad you're alright too," Kenny smiles.
Tweek briefly glances at Kenny, but doesn't say anything.
Craig moves away then and stands up.
"Okay, I think that's enough swimming for one night," he says.
"Agreed," Kenny nods.
The two gather their clothes and redress. Craig's clothes stick to his body, uncomfortably so, from the water on his skin. After Kenny shuts the lights in the pool off, and they have everything gathered, they make their way out of the building and back to the clubhouse to drop Tweek off.
Craig makes sure that Tweek changes into some dry clothes before he leaves, and takes the wet ones home to wash off the chlorine smell. He tells Tweek to let his shoes dry off to the side for night, before he heads off with Kenny on their walk back to town.
"Well, that was quite the event at the end," Kenny chuckles.
"It sure was," Craig sighs.
They walk in silence for a few more seconds, their phone lights guiding the way. The words from back at the pool come back to Craig's mind now that things had settled. He briefly plays with the idea of bringing it up again, but if Kenny had been playing along before, then he'd be quite embarrassed for assuming otherwise. He starts to think that remaining quiet on the matter may be best, but Clyde's words from earlier in the day come to him.
Summer is just around the corner.
"I see that you're putting the sticker I gave you to use," Kenny smiles, pointing at Craig's phone, "and the sketch as well."
"I figured they'd be safe in here," Craig replies.
"Is that so?" Kenny says.
Craig pauses, thinking himself crazy for what he was about to do.
"For what you asked before… my answer is yes," Craig says quietly.
"What I asked?"
"Back at the pool," Craig replies and Kenny seems to think back. Craig's face starts to heat and he quickly finds himself regretting bringing it up, "nevermind, forget I—"
"Oh, you mean about the parent thing?"
"Yeah…" Craig murmurs, "let's be together."
Craig half expects Kenny to just laugh it off, and take it as a joke. But he doesn't. Instead he stops walking and looks at him.
"Really…?" Kenny asks, a bit hesitant.
"Yes," Craig replies.
"You know what I'm asking, right?" Kenny asks, seeming almost nervous.
"I do," Craig replies.
Craig's heart begins to race as he extends his free hand towards Kenny's. He stops about an inch away, growing too embarrassed to actually go through with the action. He thinks about backing out, his nerves getting the best of him, but Kenny meets him the rest of the way and takes his hand. Warmth spreads throughout his body and he can't help the smile that forms across his lips. Kenny returns the smile and the two continue their walk back to town.
…
When Craig wakes the following day, the feeling of elation greets him. He isn't tired at all, and finds himself actually looking forward to going to school that day. He knew why that was, but it felt surreal to him. He never thought that it was something that would actually come true. Craig grabs his phone, checking the time on it briefly, before turning it over and staring thoughtfully at the guinea pig pictures on the back.
Once that's done, he puts his phone down and gets ready for the day.
When getting to the bus stop, the feeling of excitement can't help showing in his actions while he waits. He blatantly ignores his sister's obviously scrutinizing gaze on him and gets on the bus when it arrives.
He takes a seat next to Kenny and they go about chatting for the full bus ride.
Craig feels as if he's on some kind of high during the morning. It grows stronger when Science rolls around, and he spends more time with Kenny.
"Those sketches look great," Craig says, spotting the drawings in Kenny's notebook.
"Thanks," Kenny replies, "you coming over to the clubhouse after school today?"
"Of course," Craig replies.
"Awesome," Kenny grins, "oh yeah, before I forget," he takes out his phone, "what's your number? So that I can text you."
"Oh uh—one sec," Craig says, taking out his phone as well.
Despite them being on official relationship terms now, it still didn't stop Craig from feeling a bit nervous about giving Kenny his number.
Once the numbers are exchanged, they continue on talking throughout the remainder of class. When class ends, Kenny suggests spending lunch together, Craig agrees, saying that he'll meet up with him in a bit, once he puts his things away.
While walking down the hall, Clyde approaches Craig.
"Okay, something definitely happened between you two," he says.
"Maybe," Craig says.
"Did you ask him out?"
"Maybe," Craig replies again, but can't help the smile that forms on his face this time.
"Bro—did you?!" Clyde asks, shocked.
"No," Craig answers.
"Dude whe—"
"He asked me out," Craig tells him and Clyde's eyes widen, "well, asked if I wanted to date him actually."
"What!? " Clyde exclaims in utter shock.
"Clyde, Jesus, my ears," Craig shushes.
"I'm sorry, but, I'm just—I can't believe it," Clyde tells, then slowly calms back down to his usual demeanor, "while you weren't the one that asked him, for the deal we made, I'm glad that at least there isn't a standstill anymore and there's some actual progression happening now," he says in thought, then laughs, "I guess he got tired of waiting for you to make a move, so he did it first."
Although Craig doesn't reply, Clyde's words do stir up the questions, when did Kenny start to like him? And for how long? He grew curious about it.
He parts from Clyde and makes his way over to meet up with Kenny outside.
Their lunch passes by nicely, the two just exchanging small talk for plans on what to do later in the day, after school.
…
Over the course of the next few days, Craig and Kenny follow a similar routine. Craig waking in the morning, either receiving or sending a text to Kenny with a smile. The two sitting next to one another on the bus ride to school. Talking in class, and chatting at lunch. Obviously their sudden time spent around one another doesn't go unnoticed by their friends, and it doesn't take long for most of them to figure out what's going on. However, it doesn't really seem to affect them or their friends much, and things carry on as usual for them. Time after school is spent at the clubhouse, where they talk with Tweek. The reaction to the clubhouse that Kenny's friends have one day when stopping by, is quite amusing to them both, as they stare in awe at everything and seem to fully accept Tweek into their friend circle. And after the sun would begin to set, they'd head home and ready for another day.
By the time Friday arrives, Craig is almost disappointed that the weekend is coming, wanting to spend more time with Kenny. But he knew they'd be able to just text one another, if they ever felt like hanging out over it.
But since it was Friday now, Craig gets an idea for something they could do. It was an idea that had been swirling around in his head the past few days, although he wasn't sure on how to go about doing it. But since Kenny had confirmed that his friends wouldn't be visiting the clubhouse today, he figured that now was a good time to do it.
So that morning, before school had started, he packed something extra in his bag for after school that day.
He teases Kenny lightly about it, the same Kenny had teased him about the karaoke machine before. Only replying with "You'll see," when Kenny asks what he means.
The end of the day comes along and they head to the clubhouse to hang out for a while. Kenny asks a few times what it was that Craig had been hinting at before, but Craig doesn't tell him what it is until the sun begins to set.
"Since the sun has gone down now, I think it's time to reveal what I brought," Craig says, now opening his bag.
"Finally," Kenny says, trying to peek into it.
Craig laughs to himself as he removes a small square device from his backpack.
"Here it is," Craig tells him.
"What's that?" Kenny asks.
"A movie projector," Craig replies, and Kenny's eyes widen.
"A movie projector? Oh cool!" Kenny says excitedly, then pauses, "But what are we going to watch it on?"
"This," Craig replies, pulling out a white bed sheet. He walks over to the side of the clubhouse wall and pinches the corners of the sheet between the crevices of the makeshift wall, hanging it up. He turns back around and takes out his phone, "It's already charged, so just need to plug my phone in for the movie."
"What movie is it?" Kenny asks.
"It's a surprise," Craig replies, with a small smirk.
"Is that so?" Kenny says, corking a brow.
Craig hooks up his phone to it and waits for Kenny and Tweek to find a place to sit. Only once the movie starts, does Craig realize that this is the first time Tweek's seen a movie, at least that he was aware of. Hopefully things would still be alright afterwards, he tried his best to choose one that wasn't too bad on violence. At least in his opinion anyways.
It was an older animated movie, about a boy that wanted more in life than what was handed to him. His childhood dream of a great planet filled with treasure, seemed to be the main thing that kept his adventurous spirit alive. After an occurrence happens, he's given the opportunity to find and live out his childhood dream, and potentially help his family member in the process.
Craig loved the space aspect of this movie, the sense of awe and wonder it gave, as well as the overall story. It still all held a pretty close place in his heart, but maybe that was just the nostalgia.
"This is actually my first time watching this," Kenny tells him.
"Really?" Craig asks.
"Yeah, never had the chance to watch it before," Kenny explains, "this a favorite of yours?"
"It's up there," Craig replies.
"Is it because it takes place in space?" Kenny smirks.
"Pfff, no," Craig replies, "…okay, maybe partly."
Kenny chuckles as the two fall back into silence. It remains quiet between the two of them, until a quite emotional scene happens between the protagonist and someone they had grown to look up to.
"I feel like I kind of relate to him in a way," Kenny says, while still watching the movie.
"The main character?" Craig asks.
"Yeah."
"How so?"
"It feels like we both are looking for our place to fit in this world," Kenny replies, "somewhere to be, when home doesn't always feel like it's where you're meant to be."
"Is something wrong at your home?"
"Just some troubles," is all that Kenny replies with.
"I hope it's nothing bad," Craig says and Kenny offers him a small smile, although it seems sad.
He wants to ask him more about it, but doesn't want to push it either if he wasn't ready to tell him, so he decides not to ask, instead choosing to wait for when he is. Whenever that may be.
"You know, I'm really appreciative that this place exists," Kenny says, looking around the clubhouse, "it's kind of like a second mini home in a way," he looks at Tweek, "it's all thanks to your hard work in completing this place, Tweek. Thank you."
Tweek doesn't respond though, seeming much too engrossed with the film to even pay them much mind.
"I guess he's too into the movie," Craig says.
"I guess so," Kenny chuckles then looks back at Craig, "and thank you too, Craig."
"Me? Why?"
Kenny smiles warmly.
"For just being you. And existing."
Craig's heart skips and a faint blush spreads across his face.
Something warm wraps around his hand, resting on the floor next to him. Kenny's hand. His hand is a bit rough, but gentle. It's comforting. There's a soft smile Craig gives, his hand moving to interlock with Kenny's fingers, as the two go back to watching the movie.
Blissfully, the two remain unaware of the other set of eyes now on them in the dimly lit space, silently observing their fingers intermingling.
