Age 5

The first thing that Tamako saw when she woke up was an ANBU hovering over her bed, behind the mask was someone who peered above her with interest. Instinctively, she bolted out of her bed and went into a defensive stanza.

"The Kazekage requests your presence in his office"

"Y-yes, sir." She squeaked out, the ANBU roughly grabbing her shoulder and expelling a good amount of chakra that flickered them into an office

My plan is working so far, as long as I don't fuck up, Kazekage won't let anyone harm me. My Kekkei Genkai is too precious to lose...unless he thinks that my Kekkei Genkai is too precious and might cause another war. One that Suna can't afford...

Not even a second later, Tamako stood face to face with the Kazekage, and she quickly used her skill, [Observe]. Not much information was given.

Name: Rasa

Occupation: Kazekage (Shinobi)

Level: ?

Background: The Kazekage is renowned for his efficient use of Magnet Kekkei Genkai, which he uses gold.

He has 3 children, Temari, Kankuro, and Gaara. 9 years old, 8 years old, and 6 years old respectively.

His youngest child has the Ichibi sealed by a Poison Master, Chiyo-sama. Due to this, Rasa's wife died and he succumbed to depression.

His level isn't showing... This is the difference between a Kazekage—She gulped— and a wannabe shinobi.

He peered down from his desk with no emotion betraying except the interest in his eyes. He crossed his arms before staring down analytically, "My son, who you've already met a few days ago told me something... interesting." He paused to gauge her emotions before continuing with a bit of satisfaction when she stared back without fear, "It has come to my attention that you acquired a Kekkei Genkai. One that hasn't surfaced for a long time."

Tamako graced her features with awe and curiosity.

"We call it the Crystal Release— Shouton."

"..Shouton..." She parroted softly, trying to expel a child-like innocents that she must be.

Then, he began questioning. "When were you able to form crystal?"

"I was able to sprout crystal when I was two years old," Tamako responded without any hesitance in her voice in favor of a confident one, yet humble. "Sir." She added at the end.

"Two years old..." He trailed off, "That's quite... dangerous. You could've damaged your coils." He wrapped his hand around his cup, taking a light sip of what smelled like coffee, "Were you aware of that?"

She nodded lightly, "I frequently visited the library during my free time with the Matron and discovered many things there... I made sure I was careful."

"Smart, you were two at the time, yes? Reading, understanding— most kids at that age would continue without proper help once discovered." He leaned in closer, clasping his arms together, "Which begs the question— are you a prodigy of the making?"

She puffed out her chest with courage, gathering her thoughts and starting out slowly. "I was always different compared to my peers. They played with blocks and slobbered on everything while I experimented with chakra, they would ask why I exceeded in parts where they struggled. It was like I was different."

"A natural prodigy." He blandly spoke, though, she could hear the hint of fascination and interest. The last child prodigy they had was Sasori, and everyone was under the impression that he was so far advanced that the Village couldn't keep up. "I'd also heard that you had beaten my son, Kankuro, during a spar. He's been training under our strongest Puppet Master and he has two years on you— that's quite a feat. Do you train often?"

"I dedicate a few hours a day training. Kankuro is training to be a Puppet Master, his chakra control is far superior to mine." Replying with a vague answer that didn't highlight any of her skills, downplaying to be humble but masked her true intentions.

She has to play this safe.

"I see, then how would you like to join the Academy earlier than your peers? You could beat a second year already, I don't see why you could easily climb the ranks."

"Aah, Kazekage-sama, If you would permit me, I'd like to enter at the appropriate time." She was going to be six in the next Academy Rotation, it would line up.

The Kazekage made an indescribable face, disappointment? "Why? With your skill, you could be a Genin after some tutelage." Rasa leaned on his desk as he gazed down to her figure with interest. It's not every day you meet a kid like Tamako.

"I'd like to spend time with my peers and create strong bonds. I'm also concerned as the personal history of many prodigies end up as tragedies. I'm also concerned for the other village's reactions as Friend Killer Hatake Kakashi of the Leaf graduated at six for the upcoming War. There is a difference between him and me. He was alive during the war. I was not." She pauses, inspecting his reaction. "I believe it is in Suna's interest if we were to naturally induct myself into the system."

Rasa raised an eyebrow. "Your understanding of foreign villages is far beyond your age." Then he narrowed his eyes. "You are conniving one, aren't you? Smart and able to analyze the impact in the future. You've reached the same conclusion as me. The Shouton Release is an incredibly strong asset, an asset that could spark the next war." Then his voice turned cold before he whipped out a kunai. "Your analysis is correct. What a strange piece on the board you are. I've weighted it out. The last time a village had acquired a non-native kekkei genkai, it had nearly started a war. We had only had peace for less than a decade. This is the best." Rasa struck the kunai down her neck.

YOU DIED

GO TO LAST SAVE | QUIT

Well, I didn't expect negotiations to fail that quickly. Fuck. Good thing I saved before talking to fucking Rasa

. . .

"My son, who you've already met a few days ago, told me something... interesting. It has come to my attention that you acquired a Kekkei Genkai. One that hasn't surfaced for a long time."

'Here we go again...'

. . .

Depending on her wording, it either got her killed, taken away by ANBU, which led to something Tamako didn't stay long enough to find out, or being shipped to the nearest training ground to gauge her skill and promptly ended up entering the Academy too early for her liking.

So after repeating the scenarios so many times, she had finally accepted that she would enter the academy the following school year rotation, and as she developed, she would be moved accordingly.

The two agreed on allowing Tamako to attend the Academy at the proper age while inducting her as the apprentice of the Kazekage himself. He must've been a little paranoid after the whole Sasori fiasco, they've lost their best shinobi so they would definitely not want to lose her Kekkei Genkai. This way, it catered towards her whole prodigy persona in a way that doesn't scream hey! We're creating a child-soldier so watch out!

In any case, she wasn't sure how long she'll be able to hold off Rasa ultimately promoting her to a genin, but since Gaara was still a genin by Chunin Exams despite his skill level being nearly Jounin in many aspects, that would entail that Konoha Crush was in the works far longer than she initially calculated.

Then her eyes brighten—Chunin Exams, Suna's hosting one soon!

Tamako bowed once more to Rasa and exited the office, heading straight to the entrance with new ideas forming and endless possibilities for her Kekkei Genkai and noted the ANBU following her. They'll probably keep tabs on her for a while.

Guren had a jutsu that trapped enemies in crystal and if the crystal broke, the person goes out with it. Useful I should replicate it.

She paused, stopping dead at her tracks and side-stepped to avoid slamming into someone, "Sorry... I wasn't paying attention." Tamako laughed sheepishly, rubbing her neck.

"It's alright, I wasn't paying attention either— Tamako?"

The said girl blinked, "Temari-chan!"

"I haven't seen you since you kicked Kankuro's butt in a spar! I was about to go bother my dad but if you're here, let's go out for some Dango, my treat! I've got sooooo much to tell you!" The blonde explained, almost vibrating in her shoes.

Tamako visibly brightened at her, "S-seriously? I'll come!"

Temari quickly gestured towards the entrance to a rather small building, and lead the younger girl to the nearest table. They sat down, ordering before discussing their lives.

"So, have you been training a lot? My sensei just taught me a new jutsu and my dad gifted me a new fan for my birthday!"

"Ah, really? That sounds cool! You have to show me your fan later!" She gnawed off a piece of dango, savoring the anko filling. "I've just been touching on some stamina and shuriken, trying out kenjutsu too, it's going eh." She wobbled her hand and swallowed the treat. So much better than the stuff the Matron's cook every night.

"Kenjutsu? There's not a lot of Kenjutsu User's in Suna, so that's pretty cool." Temari paused, her hands lightly clapping when the waiter came by with another two plates of dango stacked and green tea.

"Aah, that reminds me!" Temari took a skewer and bit off a piece of dango before continuing, "Kankuro blabbed to dad what happened last time during dinner last night. Couldn't stop talking about how fast you are and blah blah." Her hands mimicked a talking person, giggling in unison with the other girl.

She stopped with a thoughtful look, pointing at her with the skewer in her hand, "Ne ne, after eating we should spar! it'll really help me get used to close-quarters since dad's upset with me ranking fifth last exam, and you're like, really good."

Tamako perked at the idea, taking a sip of her tea before nodding with agreement. "Sounds like a plan!"

After their agreement, the two girls rapidly devoured their dango at a record time, pausing when they both looked at each other and fell into small giggles, and left the shop, both eager to start sparring.

It was nice to feel like a kid again, after the whole Rasa situation.

They headed towards the nearest training ground. It was plain with a couple of boulders scattered around, nothing more, nothing less. "3 hits to win?" Temari suggests, obviously taking inspiration from Taijutsu spars in the Academy.

Tamako shook her head, "Let's make it until someone gives up." Temari in response took out a scroll and popped out a large fan that was up to her waist.

The younger girl grabbed a blunted crystal sword out from her inventory and gave it a few experimental swings

[Quest Alert!]

She Challenged...

Objective: Beat Temari

Rewards: 5,000 Ryo + 30 EXP

Special Objective: Defeat Temari with at least 80% HP remaining

Reward: Skill

It was a little worrying that the special objective required her to keep four-fifths of her health. Her last quest required her to ensure that Kankuro landed no hits. That would mean that Temari was on another level. Yet her mind was compelled with the idea of a new skill. A new skill is great, but the game won't reveal what kind of skill. Just gotta find out by completing it, I guess... lemme save first.

"3"

Temari is a long-mid range

"2"

Quick attacks from up close would end her

"1"

Getting rid of her fan is top priority

"Start!"

Temari made the first move and used a move similar to her Wind Scythe Jutsu, but heavily watered down. It was still powerful enough to create gashes on nearby boulders, but weak enough that the further you were, it merely pushed you—skidded back more like— a few feet back. She was impressive for an eight year old. No wonder she was the strongest Wind User by the Fourth War.

Tamako responded by pulling chakra from her inner core and simmering her legs with chakra, backflipping to dodge the incoming slice of air before scampering towards her like a rapid dog.

Temari easily countered back by creating more air currents that were impossible to dodge at close-range, pushing Tamako back further and further while still chipping at her HP.

She basically spammed the same attack over which immobilized Tamako and left her a pile of bloody cuts. With a bit of annoyance, Tamako groaned, "She just had to use the same attack over and over and OVER."

Tamako earned a strange look from Temari, who paused and lifted her weapon down. The Shouton user merely ignored the girl in favor of glancing at her hovering health bar and frowned, "Now that's definitely not 80%..." She trailed off, brightening when she remembered.

Temari squinted at her with confusion, "Hey, are you okay—?"

"—Good thing I saved!"

. . .

"3"

Maybe I can trap her in crystal...

"2"

'f I could somehow direct my chakra under her

"1"

Crystal is the combination of Earth and Yin so let's take that somewhere

"Start!"

Temari once again made the same move, a wide sweep of air that ran towards Tamako with a hint of malice. Already knowing her starting move, thank the system, Tamako laced her legs with chakra and seemingly teleport via Kawarimi, replacing herself with rock at Temari's feet and at aimed at the girl's face, bringing a fist full with chakra that coursed throughout her arm.

When the fist made impact, Temari's face was shot back and she gritted her jaw from the pain and brought her left hand to swing her large battle fan in an attempt to make the other girl back off.

It worked when Tamako barely ducked in time when she rolled on the ground at the pitiful attempt to dodge, but it worked. Temari, who successfully brought distance, swung her fan to push Tamako back via wind.

The Shouton user laced her feet to the ground to stop herself from flying into the air and clenched her teeth with small paper cuts littered her visible skin, dripping small amounts of blood paired with her shredded clothes.

Tamako pushed chakra into the ground through her feet and let it course through, traveling closer and closer and closer to Temari, circling lazily below her, signaling it was ready.

She formed the serpent hand sign that allowed her chakra to surge forward, piercing above the ground with crystal following its movements, encasing her body with crystal all around her that subdued her movements.

Temari gave a slight sigh, dropping her giant Kyodai Sensu, "I yield,"

Nodding at her words, Tamako snapped her fingers together and cut the steady supply of chakra and the crystal disintegrated at her command.

The two girls shared a handshake before Tamako began her response, "I think you should work on reaction time, then you will be able to dodge or counter when a close-distance shinobi attacks you up close. I also think that when you're forced to fight close-distance, you could use your battle fan or Kyodai Sensu like a Bo."

"Ooh, like a Bo? I never really thought about that since it's so... lanky and heavy—I should probably build up the muscle mass for it. As for you..." Temari trailed off, thinking with a frown before clasping her hands together, "Maybe defense? You were stuck in the midst of my attacks, and if you had a jutsu that would shield you from the wind— or any attacks— it would help out a lot!"

Tamako blinked at her suggestion before smacking her head, "A shield Of course! How did I not think about that!" She then glanced at her INT, wow how embarrassing, before nodding, "Nevermind— Temari, thanks a lot! But I better go—" She pointed at the sun, past lunch, "I got some chores back home and I need'a fix my cuts. I'll see you later!"

Temari, who wiped the sweat from her forehead and massaged her jaw smiled and waved back at Tamako's slowly disappearing figure, "See ya!"

On her walk home, Tamako slowly envisioned the entire fight in her head, imagining other ways she could've tackled the fight before slapping her forehead. Why didn't I create crystal armor around my skin? Or even a wall of crystal to stop me from getting pelted.

I hate my life.
