Tamako leaned against the tree as Deidara soared through the sky for reconnaissance. With half a mind on her surroundings and the other staring blindly at the blue window ahead of her. It was her Character Status, most importantly, staring at her unused skill points. She had a ton from just leveling up and the occasional rare quest.
For awhile, she was saving it until she encountered an impossibly hard fight or something she couldn't do, but she hasn't met that threshold of difficulty, and for the longest time she was convinced that either Madara or Kaguya would be the ones to force her to use those skill points.
During her travels overseas and back, she received a rare "gift" from the system, gifting her another chance to talk to this Game Master. What would be a better time to ask the Game Master of their opinion on her build?
She slowly tapped the [Use] on the scroll, watching it catch on fire before a holographic keyboard appeared. With dainty fingers, she typed in her question, her eyes affixed on the transparent window ahead of her.
Q: What is the best way to distribute stat points based off of my build?
A: Your build predominately based on long-ranged elemental jutsu that are undeniably OP for the current arc. According to the next phase, your build will be heavily nerfed due to the increase level of enemies. I suggest preparing for the nerf and focus on a INT/WIS build that will allow your elemental jutsu's to cost less and deal more damage. It is also advisable to keep an eye on other stats as they may be life or death.
Since you're fond of your tanto and your skill [Blade Proficiency] is at level 347, I suggest distributing a couple points [75] into VIT, with this, you'll be able to fight in close-combat for a longer period of time.
Given the fact you are still at the prime age of learning, I suggest spending a good amount of points [80] into DEX to increase your pace of leveling up body-based skills and flexibility. You know what they say, if they can't catch you, they can't hurt you.
I suggest not to put in points into STR as your build is more of a hit fast hit soft and you can reliably deal damage using elemental jutsu.
Agility is a must with your character build, being able to shoot out jutsu's and remain unscathed is incredibly important factor. At minimum, [85] points.
If you followed my suggestions, you should have [160] skill points left, which you should distribute into WIS and INT.
The typing bubble of the Game Master froze, appearing and disappearing before revealing jaw-dropping information
However, there's also another way to spend these points, after the next update, the new system update will introduce a new game mechanic, the [Shop]. The [Shop] will allow you to use in-game currency to purchase a large arsenals of items that include but do not limit to; potions, charms, accessories, and armor. There will be an additional side tab of [Shop] [Skill Shop]
The [Skill Shop] is self-explanatory, as you can buy skills, including Kekkei Genkai, at the cost of skill points!
Don't worry, if you decide you want the skill [Yoton - Kekkei Genkai], the description will give you a fake story that is downloadable, changing the lore of your character to ensure there is no funny business.
[Would you like to automatically add your skill points into the Game Master's suggestions?]
[Yes] [No]
She rubbed her eyes in disbelief.
Buying Kekkei Genkai?
Does this mean Tamako could potentially buy a fucking Sharingan?
No, no, that would be bad. Despite the Game Master's reassurance that the downloadable content should cover any loose ends, this could forever mess up the plot in a way Tamako would really not like. Most importantly, her relationship with the Uchiha brothers would be extremely awkward. Who knows if Sasuke's goal was still to rebuild the Uchiha Clan? That would spell complete and utter disaster.
Power like that wasn't given so easily, there had to be something [System] wasn't telling her.
Deadpanning at the hologram, "Nope."
She clicked no and waved off her Character Status profile, and turned her attention to much more pressing matters. Deidara landed beside her, frowning. "I thought you said there's Konoha Shinobi fighting as if it were life and death?"
Tamako frowned, crossing her arms with a little huff. She had watched Team 8 and Kakashi meandering around the area following crystal shards that weren't particularly hers. They operated under the assumption they were tracking her, which was quite funny to say the least. Her insects at Konoha relayed that both Naruto, Sai and Sakura were being dispatched under the same assumption as well. With one mission starting off tracking an old Orochimaru base that her mother used to tend, to following tracks, of both Guren and her little stowaway that Kabuto assigned to her.
It wasn't that she was angry at being abandoned at birth, but watching from another's perspective of her birth-mother caring for another child chilled her blood ice cold. The only thing that warmed her up was Team 8's battle against Guren. Their shock and gasps of surprise, and even her mother's expression when Kakashi asked if she was in any way related to Tamako.
Her mother had always known she was out there as a missing-nin, but she had never left her far away hideout Orochimaru had assigned her all those years ago, choosing to become a recluse. Never even trying to find her then thirteen-year old daughter who had nothing but a bounty to show.
What a failure of a mother.
"Sh." She pointed at the foggy lake, "Watch closely."
He sat beside her on the tree branch, eyes peeled open. His mechanical eye zoomed in and out with a quiet hum, watching a small boat rowed to the center. The pair grabbed the tree when a large rumble sounded from the center of the lake, the ground trembling from several large crystal pillars that emerged by the boat, all circling it.
"Was that you? Your range is a lot better than I initially thought."
She shook her head, "No. That's not my shouton." Tamako crossed her arms with a displeased look. The homing beacon of chakra that was emitted out of Yukimaru, the child her mother was in charge of, drowned out all of her thoughts. It would be a matter of minutes when Konoha Shinobi would appear. The young boy's chakra practically summoned the sleeping Bijuu from the water, its massive body breached the water with a slight roar.
Her hand rose to her mouth, covering her nose and mouth. "Don't breath in the mist too much, it'll cause hallucinogens."
Dediara scoffed, "You think this little thing can take me out?" He circulated his chakra and filtered the foreign chakra from his lungs, breathing it out. "This sort of thing is elementary."
Tamako shrugged, he was right. It was a common technique among Kiri-natives due to many of their shinobi infusing their Hiding in the Mist jutsu with less than savory poisons, so it was even more common to circulate chakra as easy as breathing.
"Then, since they so kindly summoned the Bijuu, shouldn't we get started?"
She gave the blond beside her a tired smirk, "A daughter should let her mother take the first bite." Her voice was laced with bitterness. Yes, of course she was mad. That ice in her blood rose in temperature.
Her mother had all this time to reach out, to find her. Nearly three years, not even batting an eye now that news had gotten out she's associated herself with the dangerous Akatsuki.
Deidara's eyes widen at the information before snapping his neck back to the ongoing fight, trailing at the site of crystal encasing the Bijuu. "Your mother? Your record says you were orphaned since birth."
"So you guys did have a secret meeting about me." She blew her bangs from her face, "I've never personally met her, but I've did some digging. No worries, if the time comes, I'll gladly cut her down in the name of Akatsuki." With a sigh, she patted her periwinkle tresses she had inherited before pointing at the groaning crystal before it shattered in a split second. "We can let my mother do her first duty of helping out her daughter, weakening the Bijuu. Then, we can swoop down with your bombs and my superior shouton and leave. I doubt anyone over there is powerful enough or has enough chakra to take us down."
He did not argue, noticing her silent anger, that white rage that bubbled up. From his few months with Tamako, he enjoyed her company. The two were just three-years apart and shared many hobbies that included improving their own art.
Tamako's art was definitely in sculpture, similar to his own clay. He'd seen the large dragon she had conjured from an enemy's suiton, how it wrapped around her figure before charging and slicing her enemy in half before crashing into another, shattering into dust.
A fine creation created in the spur of a moment, only to be destroyed after taking a few lives.
He respected her, truly. And in a way, they were similar. Doing illegal work after leaving their own Village at a young age before winding up at Akatsuki together. If Deidara was any weaker, he'd say that fate had given him another sister.
He missed Kurotsuchi sometimes, but he loved his art more. Iwa had nothing to offer for his art, but Tamako did. She was obtuse in nature, having a strange skillset of many things and only a master of a few. Her seal work was better than many shinobi he's encountered in his short life, and the seal she had painted on his new arm allowed him to mold chakra much better. Her input on his art was always a hit or a miss, but he appreciated it nonetheless.
So he stayed silent beside her and let her simmer in anger as they watched the skirmish. He rose an arm to put around her shoulder and froze when Tamako's finger shattered the branch she was holding. He retracted his arms and crossed them, only time will quell her anger.
For now, he will keep her company.
. . .
The fight between Konoha 11 with Yamato and Kakashi was incredibly lackluster. Her mother's showy usage of shouton was incredibly disappointing that even Deidara lamented the lack of practicality of such "art". Guren's lack of finesse with her own crystal shurikenjutsu, her overusage of a crystal shield that mended on its own, it was all lackluster.
Even Guren's projection of motherly insects on the boy gave her a weird feeling. If Guren was any other person, Tamako would praise them, but she knew that deep down that Guren was projecting.
The cherry on top was the combo of Shizune, Hinata, Sakura and Ino's failed barrier jutsu. She didn't understand why they didn't send Jiraiya and gambled on just chakra control and Shizune's above-average understanding of sealing. Why was there only two-jounin on scene during the sealing? Where the hell was back-up and why did Tsunade only send majority chunin?
"Konoha shinobi are stupider than I thought." She said, finally breaking the long silence. "And Guren even more so, getting stabbed by her own underling."
They watched Guren and Naruto fight the three-tailed, failing because of their lack of experience and disengagement, letting the Bijuu finally retreat back to the lake. Konoha failed at sealing, Guren failed to use Yukimaru to seal the beast and Kakashi and his team had taken Yukimaru while she attacked the three-tail.
The battlefield was empty, the beast ripe for the taken.
"Let's go, Deidara." Tamako spoke, finally standing up from the branch. The boy groaned, stretching and pouting.
"That took longer than I thought."
"I was curious about the Konoha Shinobi, but I knew both sides would fail into sealing the beast. They'd weaken it a little, but we can do a better job."
She jumped into the air, landing on Deidara's bird and maneuvered to the center of the lake. The blonde smirked, throwing a few C3 bombs into the lake, it's explosion throwing water into the air and effectively dousing the pair.
Tamako wiped her wet bangs behind her ears and clapped her fingers together. "Shouton: Crystal Senbon!"
Using the water as the base, she crystalized thousands of water droplets into her infamous senbon, sending them surging through the water rapidly and targeted the Bijuu's eyes. At the loud muffled cry, she smirked.
Instantly, the three-tailed beast punctured the lake, water flying and misting the area. It let out a huge roar that probably alerted any shinobi still hanging out, but she didn't pay any mind. Aerial battles were Deidara's forte, and Tamako would take advantage of it.
Deidara rained down bombs that blackened the beast's turtle-like shell, and when it opened its mouth to form a Bijuu Bomb, she crystalised the air around its mouth, forcing its jaws wide open.
The four-tailed beast's defense was the highest of all the Bijuu, but one couldn't protect their insides so easily. She rained down nearly all the crystal jutsu's she knew, right down its throat. Each hit whittled down its health, each hit drew a loud cry of pain, each hit cracked against the pillars keeping its jaws open.
The blonde peered down, watching her continuing onslaught before Tamako turned to him with that fiery grin he watched envelop her face so many times. "Deidara, use your C3." She grinned so hard that she had to close her eyes, "I want to see some explosions that will rattle this lake."
He blinked a few times, his mechanical eye traced her expression before he copied the grin, equally excited and stoked. "Of course, Little Miss." He molded the last bit of his clay he had on him carefully, infusing his chakra into his little sculpture before sending it down the beast's mouth.
With half a rat-sign and a single pulse of chakra, his C3 clay sculpture poofed, increasing in size nearly one-hundred fold before he shouted with all his might, "Katsu!"
White light enveloped his vision, ears ringing and body shaking at the shockwave. He added more chakra to his feet, gluing himself to his bird and fell to his knees. He could feel blood dripping down his ears but once his vision finally adjusted, Tamako still had that stupid smile on her face. She had crystal over her ears and mouthed a few words he couldn't hear. He watched her lips, his brain racing.
Can you hear me?
He shakes his head, pointing at his bloody ears.
She crawls closer to him, hands green before they settle to the side of his face. Slowly, the pain recedes away and the ringing gets quieter before he could hear a murmur.
"That was the most destructive thing I've ever seen." Her eyes meet his, still grinning but now her eyes are slightly open with a crinkle focused on him, "It was amazing." He watched her silently, not trusting his own voice. The backdrop of the mushroom cloud from his jutsu, the hot red from his explosion that caresses her face that makes it seem like there's heat to her cheeks.
It was silent, not because of his fucked up ears but because of her.
Deidara silently thanked Guren for one thing she did good in her sorry life, because he was so sure now, so full of conviction that Tamako has gotten him wrapped around her dainty fingers.
She was the closest thing to family.
. . .
The tailed beast went down, insides scorched and clinging to life. The Sanbi has probably never faced so much firepower in its life, sticking to the Land of Water's vast oceans and lakes. It probably hasn't deepthroated daggers and a fucking bomb before.
She threw some rope down, tying the beast to Deidara's birds, now that he's summoned another. With the combined two, they dragged it onto land, its large body knocking down trees. With a final burst of chakra, the birds ascended into the air with the Bijuu's body and Tamako clapped her hands together, forming a large enough platform underneath it.
With steady control, she helped lift the beast. It was just her luck that her assignment didn't conveniently have a Jinchūriki who was human sized and easy to drag around but at the same time, since the three-tailed didn't have a mind to hone its power, it was incredibly weak.
Dragging Isobu's body went by without a hitch, by taking to the skies above clouds, no one could really spot the pair and their pet. The three-tails was covered in crystal to ensure the beast didn't wake up prematurely during transportation.
With a little more piece of mind now that Guren was no longer in her thoughts, and after Deidara's little firework show he put on her that delighted her very much, she finally maximized the windows she'd minimized earlier.

Her eyes widened at the messages, nearly whipping her neck towards the blonde before snapping back to the notifications. She hadn't particularly tried to raise his affection points but they rose anyways, without any intention. There is a warm feeling that envelops her chest at the words, just looking at confirmation feels... like something she hasn't felt before in decades.
No one really cherished her, per say. They've cared for her well being as an asset to the village or trusted her to some degree but not cherish. Her time with Deidara the past months are incomparable to the year and half she spent with her genin team. He respected her yes, but she understood that he was her equal in power, probably more powerful than her.
Kaito was a loser, as a genin she couldn't even respect him even with his power but Deidara, she respected him. She knew he did too but their relationship didn't seem like it would progress outside of mutual respect as two shinobi within the same group.
In all honesty, he felt like a brother she never had. Playing tricks on missing-in to be "cool" (blowing them up), as he worded it, because he was a part of the world-reclaimed Akatsuki, and lecturing her on how to improve her jutsu.
He was a mentor, a friend and now, the closest thing to a brother.
Her thoughts warp back to Guren, all of that bubbling anger, gone. She may have lost her mother, a bond that only saw fruition on the day of her birth, a bond that forever stains her memory from the title she gained. Momma's Little Gem, she mocks silently.
She may have lost one bond, but she's also gained another.
There's a quiet smile on her face when the duo greeted Pein at the hideout, a few of the Akatsuki had already arrived, standing on the Gedō Statue's fingers.
With Hidan and Kakazu dead, there were two empty spots after the rest of the Akatsuki member's holographic figures arrived. Then, she eyed the newcomer. A ninth she hadn't seen before, but she's felt this chakra before.
His orange swirl mask, the single eye that peaked out, slightly red.
He eyed her too, calling her, "Pretty Miss!" before ooing and wowing at the size of Isobu. "Hmm hmm~ The Akatsuki's youngest member isn't so bad~" He sang, humming a tune as he danced on his spot. Kakazu's former spot to be more precise.
Deidara was quick to talk back, wondering who let this idiot here.
Pein silenced him with a single pulse of chakra that weighed her down. "This is Tobi, he will now be joining us now that Kakazu and Hidan have perished."
Without a moment to mourn, they began the jutsu, extracting Isobu's chakra after she had released her crystal encasement. It was a silent ordeal, the only thing filling the silence was the occasional Tobi spewl, Deidara's warning growls and Kisame's hearty laughter.
She smiled to herself.
This would be the last time the Akatsuki would feel like home.
. . .
With a messenger to Itachi, she set off with Deidara once again, on the hunt for the Kyuubi. Pein put an order of all hands-on-deck now that the death of the Zombie Duo pretty much signified that the KyuubiJinchūriki was stronger than he'd initially calculated. Plus the order to protect each other, which meant eliminating all Akatsuki threats which included Sasuke.
Deidara settled the straw-hat on her head with paper-thin cloth attached to the edges of the hat that hid her face. She wasn't really sure why Pein ordered them to wear such hats despite their cloak pretty much giving away their identity anyways.
"So? Are we going after Kyuubi or Sasuke?" She asked, readjusting the massive straw hat.
He hummed, summoning a clay bird and jumped on top. She quickly followed suit, landing softly in a crouch. "Hmm, I wonder..."
She knew he was going to go after Sasuke.
Tamako saved her file, praying to anyone that would listen.
Please don't let Deidara use his C4.
That C4, his ultimate jutsu, turns him into a suicide-bomber. For all the boy's pyromaniac and clear explosion disorder, she clearly cared for him too. It was hard not too, just like everyone else she's met on this journey, they have a personality, goals, fears and loves.
What he needs is probably therapy.
The clay bird flapped its wings, taking them higher to the sky. Deidara pushed his long hair to the side, using his mechanical eye to survey the forest with better clarity than she could attempt. She knew where Sasuke was, with the steady stream of information fed into her head, he was close by. But she kept her mouth shut, dreading the fight to come.
Deidara's arm just finally healed up, and she had just finished bandaging the damaged, unrecoverable skin that darkened, Kakazu was no medic nor was he a miracle worker, but he did his job.
She bit her lip, eyes snapping forward at his voice. "I found it."
"Already?" She said quietly, "That was quick."
He frowned at her words, "What's wrong? Scared of the little Uchiha? Don't worry." He grinned manically, "His creepy little eyes won't get ahead of me."
Tamako shook her head, rising from her seiza, "No. Me and Sasuke... have some history."
He raised an eyebrow before raising his arms up, "Alright, alright. I'll let you talk to him first." This narrowed his eyes, "But I'm still fighting him."
Sighing, she nodded. "Just... don't get hurt, okay?" Without hearing a reply, she jumped from the bird and landed softly onto a branch using chakra to soften her landing. She crept down from the tree and peered over the trunk.
Sasuke still hasn't changed his haircut from the last time she's seen him, almost a year and half now. He wore a dark washed out green cloak zipped up, his chokuto sticking up behind it.
He turned around quickly, "Who's there?" Then glared at the forest-line.
Tamako took a deep breath and revealed herself, walking out of the forest into the opening. "Hello, Sasuke. I heard you were looking for me."
He nearly snarled at her, "I was summoning you for three months. Each hawk I sent came back with its message for the past year. I had to hear from Kabuto that you'd join the Akatsuki."
She winced at his words, looking at the ground. All the talk that she would be there for him every step of the way, in any way she could help was nearly ironic. "I'm sorry Sasuke. Things happened and I was assigned a Bijuu. Now that my task is complete, I was finally able to contact you." Tamako walked forward slowly, "They were watching me, you know. I couldn't contact you until now." She stopped when she was only a few feet away. "The Akatsuki think you're a threat."
He scoffed, his hands moving to his chokuto in a threatening manner, "What, so you've changed sides? Was all that talk before nothing to you?"
Her eyes widened and she quickly shook her head, "No, Sasuke, that's not what I'm getting at." She nearly sounded like she was in pain. That's not what she wants, this conversation was not going well.
She cared for Sasuke, worried about him in the clutches of Orochimaru. He was just a boy, and that snake targeted a child because he couldn't fight back.
"Sasuke, you know that I care, right?" She gave him a tired grin, "Not everyone has someone they can rely on, you know?" She took one more step forward. "All this time, I was keeping an eye out. Killing Orochimaru, forming Hebi, now you're looking for Akatsuki, for me."
Tamako smiled and reached a palm towards him, "You've taken good care of Karin. She's with you, isn't she? Just the town over." Then another step, she was arm's length now. "Sasuke." She pauses, looking into his eyes as a sign of trust. Trusting that he won't put her into a genjutsu. "I've missed you."
Slowly, she puts her arms around the boy, now as tall as her, maybe a few centimeters taller. "You've read my messages, right? The foreign nations I've been to... I think you would've liked them."
She backs away from the hug, peering at his expression that was not warm, but not cold either. It wasn't quite indifferent, and by the way his chakra had tried to pull her back, she knew that he cared for her to some extent. That's all she needed.
Then, with a serious face she places her hands onto his shoulders. "Sasuke, listen to me carefully." His expression darkens and sends her the miniscule of a nod. "My partner is Deidara, he uses clay infused chakra to create explosions and can detonate with a single pulse. He's fast too." She bites her lips and stares at his eyes. "We were sent to kill you."
His eyes widened.
"The Akatsuki believes you are a threat to Itachi, to Akatsuki. Deidara and I were sent to kill you but I can't let that happen." She finishes with resolve in her eyes, and he can see it. "But you can't kill Deidara either." Tamako sighs.
How will she trick Deidara? She really doesn't want to trick him.
"You need to stab me." She says bluntly, eyeing his wide eyes.
"What?" His hands shake, clearly remembering the time where he succeeded all those years ago.
"We're being watched, and I can't bring myself to attack you, not right now. Deidara and I are a deadly combo, and the Akatsuki's knows. We will outmatch you in a two versus one match, so you need to take me out."
"I can't kill you..!" He growls, eyes turning red at the thought, "I still need you for Itachi!"
"Sh!" She raises a finger to his mouth, "We're being watched! They can't know we're in on this."
She glances to the side before going back to Sasuke. "You're not killing me, just... stab me in a non-vital! A place where a lot of blood would come out. I can bleed out for a bit to give the illusion I passed out before closing the wound." Tamako grips her shoulders harder, "I'm sorry that this reunion has to be like this, believe me, I wish it wasn't." She hardened her eyes, "You'll need to fight Deidara, fight like you need to kill. He's strong."
"Do you not care what happens to your partner?" Sasuke asks silently, weighing in whether or not she valued Deidara or him more. She hates choosing like this.
"I do..." Tamako trails off with a creased forehead, a pounding headache incoming. "I'll... " She nods firmly, "I'll fake his death and hide him. He isn't so bad, you know. He'll be a valuable ally later, trust me." She places a palm on her heart with so much conviction that Sasuke is almost jealous. "Then afterwards, I'll meet up with you before you face Itachi." She reaches forward for another hug, arms wrapping around the dark haired boy and giving him a firm hug. "Now stab me."
He hesitates.
Then he stabs.
Sasuke pierces the lower-side of her body with his chokuto, missing her stomach as she embraces. In a show, she performs a suiton dyed red with doton and coughs it up. The pain on her side is searing, and when he pulls the blade out, her hands immediately clutch the wound.
The feeling of being stabbed clean through is always so painful. Hot and seering, she is mindful to take a few wobbly steps back, "Good." She splutters more of that suiton doton clay mixture that paints the water red. "Don't worry, it's not real. Just some suiton." She says reassuringly when his gaze turns red, sharingan tomoe spinning at his panic. "Get ready..."
"Tamako!" The two look into the sky, watching as Dediara's clay bird rushes towards the ground at break-necking speed. Deidara's ponytail is wildly thrown with the air whiplash, and there's worry on his face, eyebrows creased. "You bastard...!"
The bird swoops in, attacking Sasuke as Deidara lands beside her, picking her up bridal style. "What happened!? You guys were talking, then—" He almost flinches at the blood she spats out.
"Oro-orochimaru changed him..." She groans out, her face leaning against his chest. "Be careful, I don't know what that snake did to him." Tamako slowly relaxed her body as if she were to pass out, slowing down her chakra to continue the illusion.
"Shit, no... don't pass out now! I don't know any iryo ninjutsu, heal yourself!" Deidara's voice is laced with panic and she slowly closes her eyes. She drowns out his panicked pleas with her own guilt, she didn't mean to worry him this much.
She must've looked like she was dying. With all of her blood escaping her body, her face must've been so pale. He gently props her against a nearby tree-trunk and shunshins off with vengeance written in his chakra.
She just hoped Sasuke wouldn't kill him.
