The sound of water, dripping from calcites at an uneven pace echoed throughout the makeshift hideout. It smelled damp with wild moss and wet rocks, Tamako's consciousness grabs ahold of those features as she rouses awake.
She's tucked tightly on a futon with Taka spread around her. Most of the members are resting, but Sasuke is awake, leaning on a nearby crate. His head twitches when Tamako shuffles, when the girl sits up, he nods at her.
"We're at the hideout in Hotwater, like you said." He says quietly, eyes trailed on the unconscious form of Killer B. "You've been out for only an hour."
Tamako nods back at the Uchiha and moves the blanket to the side, crouching low beside B's "body" and encases it in crystal. Her ring feels warm on her fingers, its slight buzzing of chakra gathers the attention of her companion and she sighs.
Crawling back to the futon, she sit's in lotus, her hands rested on her knees into a full meditation pose and lets the ring's chakra envelop her. "I will be back." She says one last time, closing her eyes and accepting the darkness.
In a snap, she awakens on her assigned finger of the Gedō Statue, nodding at the remaining members.
"We've been calling for you for nearly twenty minutes." Pein's voice sharply cuts though her nausea.
Tamako nearly droops, "I apologize. We've captured the Jinchūriki and evaded Kumo forces." She eyes the unconscious form of Yukata, the sixth tailed beast's Jinchūriki. "Let us start the extraction."
With the remaining members being Konan, Pein, Zetsu, Kisame, Tobi and Tamako, the process took double the normal time, the drain being harsher than before. But with less people meant the less conjoined chakra clashing against each other.
The dark cave is silent, now that the extroverted member's have died or been hidden away, so she takes a half of her mind to keep up the output of her chakra to the jutsu and the other half updating herself on any important information. Her beetle pops out of the corner of the Hokage's Tower, watching Jiraiya's toad summon revealing the scorch marks on his back that the Sannin had burnt as his last message.
Naruto had already left the room at the news of his master's death, and both Tsunade, Shizune and Sakura were analyzing one of Pein's Paths. She couldn't remember which one in particular this one was, but her eyes swept over the sorrow of Naruto.
He sat on the top of the highest pole in Konoha, the sunset as his backdrop and bag's underneath his eye. She's never seen him sad before, mourn before.
Tamako could've prevented the Toad Sannin's death, but she had to choose between Itachi or Jiriaya.
As much as she hated to say it, but Naruto needed this death to reinvent his Nindo way, and there was a much lower success in saving Jiraiya in comparison to Itachi. Picking Jiraiya would mean betraying Akatsuki much sooner than she'd like and paints a target on her back on both Akatsuki and the five Hidden villages.
She couldn't risk that, and Naruto had a support group. He had Tsunade, Sakura, Kakashi, Iruka, hell even Shikamaru. Sasuke had Taka, and that was a far stretch on its own.
Her beetle follows Naruto and she focuses on that one, wondering if she should use up the remaining chakra of the beetle to force her consciousness in and talk to the boy himself.
After his pep-talk with Iruka, Naruto slowly meanders into his apartment and crawls into bed. She eyes the progress bar that signified at least another few hours and caves in. She splits her consciousness in half, again, and sends the coherent one to Konoha.
The connection is instantaneous and she arrives looking at the world at a smaller-point of view. She'll be able to talk to him since Zetsu was also too busy with the statue, this was her chance.
Her beetle flies above his bed and she mentally convulses her chakra into a henge, her form poofing above the boy before she landed on top of him. Before he could react and squawk, she grabs both of his wrists above his head and brings her fingers to her lips.
"Sh!"
His cerulean eyes widen and before he could shout she talks, "Pein uses a Jutsu to create multiple versions of himself. Like your kage bunshin, except each "clone" has its own abilities and have shared vision, they won't "dispel" until the chakra receivers are pulled out." She leans into him, pressing her own body against his as her pitiful chakra dissipates at every second, causing her to lose strength and focus. "The real Pein is not one of the six."
Her body slouches into his, and he gingerly lifts her up just a few inches from himself and she poofs away. Her consciousness slams into her real body like a sledgehammer, and it takes all of her willpower to continue pouring her chakra into the jutsu without any stuttering chakra mess.
Tamako coughs into her shoulder and continues with the ritual, not even blinking when Zetsu glances at her.
Hopefully this way, Naruto could defeat Pein before Hinata gets absolutely ganked.
After sealing the six-tailed beast and quickly dropping off B's "body" to seal it next, it was quickly discovered that B had substituted himself. His body poofed, revealing an octopus tentacle.
"Ahahaha!" Kisame slapped his knees, "It seems that Little Miss and Sasuke have blundered! An octopus..!"
"Quit laughing!" Zetsu growled out.
Tobi cut in with a piercing look aimed at the youngest of the group. Tamako nearly fell to her knees at the killer intent aimed at her, and without meeting his eyes she spoke out frantically, "I a-aplogize, Tobi! We thought after the amaterasu, Killer B was—"
He held up a single arm and she quietened down. "I sent you to ensure something like this wouldn't happen." He sighs and shakes his head, "I've only accepted you into Akatsuki to replace Orochimaru and quicken the extraction process, and to think you've lasted this long." His voice echoes in the cave and her blood runs cold at his implication.
Tobi kamui's to her with a single hand reaching forward—
"—Wait a second."
It's Kisame who gives her a second to breathe.
She collapses onto the floor, breathing heavily now that chakra wasn't pressing down on her body in such intensity. Her fingers grip at the dirt and she curses the Masked Man in front of her.
"The Little Miss was tricked, that is true, but so was your Sasuke that you've been praising." Kisame raises an eyebrow, his smirk revealing a sharp row of teeth. "She's at least obtained a Bijuu for us with the four-tailed, and if we take out any more members, it'll take too long to extract."
Tobi stills at his words, retracting his hand and turns on his heel. "Don't disappoint me anymore, kunoichi."
Her eyes harden at the ground, a growl forming in her throat but she cuts it off. He didn't even acknowledge her name.
Tamako is going to ensure that this man will atone for his crimes, and the slight against her. She's doing all of this work to ensure that the death-count of the Fourth Shinobi War would be heavily minimized in comparison to canon.
She gnaws her teeth and grips the ends of her cloak.
Yes, he'll atone for his sins.
. . .
Her arrival back at the base is greeted with Deidara lunging across the quaint dinner table set for four.
His target?
Sight-less Itachi.
Tamako pounced forward, grabbing Deidara by the pony-tail right before he could land a punch. "What are you doing!? Itachi is a patient!"
Deidara snarled, "I've been civil long enough for the likes of him. Don't stop me now, I'll finish him!"
Tamako yanks his pony-tail and he stumbles from the table, landing on the floor in a splap. "Deidara!"
Itachi steps forward, his eye's bandaged and dressed warmly despite the spring temperature. "I'm sorry, Tamako. I merely explaining to Deidara of our relationship—"
"—There is no relationship! Not over my dead body!"
Tamako grabs Deidara by the shoulders and shakes him roughly, "There is no relationship! We're comrades— friends!"
The blonde freezes, eyes narrowing at the Uchiha, "Then why'd he say it like that!?"
She smacks her forehead, "Does it look like Uchiha Itachi knows how to properly talk to people!?"
The Uchiha crosses his arm, his expression hidden with his eyes bound with cloth.
"Nevermind that, how are you two recovering?"
Deidara sniffs loudly and snaps his head away from Itachi, "I'm fine, all healed up."
Itachi finally sits back down on the only chair that wasn't upturned, "I'm still recovering. My illness has been getting more manageable."
The periwinkle haired girl nods slowly, "Good, good..." With two palms she rests them on both of the boy's upper back and shoots a shot of iryo ninjutsu, feeling for their chakra network and overall body health and humming. "Hmm, everything looks fine."
Then, she picks up an upturned chair and sits down with an audible sigh, "It's just as I thought. He's wrapped Sasuke into this whole mess." Rubbing her temples with green fingers, she continues, "Thankfully, I've been getting by with keeping an eye on your brother with Tobi's consent. Though..." She trails off with a cringe, "Sasuke's been assigned the eight-tailed and I might've let him get tricked with just a clone, and Tobi isn't pleased."
Deidara's eyes narrow even more, "Tobi? That stupid little shit?"
Tamako raises an eyebrow, "It's all a façade. He's the true leader of the Akatsuki, and he's going to declare war on all Five Great Villages within a few months."
The blonde twitches.
"Is that why you wanted to leave?" Then he freezes with a thought, "Wait, why didn't you leave yet? And why is the Uchiha here?"
The Shouton User points at Itachi with a thumb, "As much as you hate to admit it, Deidara. Itachi is incredibly strong. He's a strong ally to have, not to mention that he's not actually evil."
Deidara spluttered, "This guy murdered his entire clan!"
"Order's from Konoha's higher-ups. He was manipulated into doing so."
"I thought Konoha was supposed to be the nice village!?"
Tamako claps a hand onto the Blonde's shoulder, "There is no such thing as nice. Besides, Zetsu is the true mastermind behind all of this..." She sporadically waves her hands around, "...mess."
Now both boys snap their head to her, their chakra flickering with confusion. She waves her hands, "It's a long story. Point is, Zetsu has been manipulating behind the scenes since the age of the Sage." Then she leans on the dinner table, "More importantly, Pein is currently trying to capture the Kyuubi. I think I'll need to step in."
"You said we were going to leave the Akatsuki so we don't end up dead. Now you're going to fight Pein?"
"Deidara, I won't die. I haven't died yet, right? And I can't just leave yet, there's still something I have to do." She blew a raspberry at him, "I'm not stupid, it'll be fine, and I'm not fighting him. Just... scouting out."
She's mostly banking on the fact that Pein will end up mass-reviving including her, to be fully honest.
And she felt super guilty.
Letting Jiraiya die was one thing, it was pick or choose and Itachi was obviously the better choice. Her interference with Konoha could've fucked things up, what if Naruto didn't figure out Sage Training yet? What if Pein destroys Konoha before he could arrive?
It would absolutely destroy her if Naruto came back to no one left.
She'll have to buy time.
It was the one thing she could do for Naruto.
Plus she promised Itachi that she'll protect Konoha while he's disabled.
"Don't argue with me, Deidara. I'll be back by tomorrow."
She gave a massive hug to the Blonde who reluctantly returned it back before she pounces on the older Uchiha. He finally has color to his cheeks, his hair a little shiny after a good bath and his skin full of color, no doubt taking advantage of the man-made hotspring she created.
"It's good to see that you're alright, Itachi. You gave me a scare, getting a heart-attack like that."
There was a rare smile on his face, "I thought I wouldn't wake up after fighting Sasuke. This is a miracle that you've given me. A gift. I won't forget it."
Tamako's smile stretches to a wide grin, her crescent eyes peering at his face, "Focus on your recovery. I'll stop by tomorrow, then afterwards the next time you'll see me, I'll be back with the eyes." She winks.
[Relationship LV UP!]
[Uchiha Itachi values you! (0/100)]
One last crushing hug, and she's off, full-blasting towards Konoha. Thank god the Wave Country was bordering Konoha, otherwise—
There's a sharp white of light in the sky and the clap of an echo. Her eyes squint at the horizon, covering her ears from the shockwave as the ground beneath her rumbled. Seems like she's arrived just in time for Pein's Almighty Push.
. . .
The Pinkette couldn't believe it.
Her connection with Shizune via Lady Katsuyu was cut off so early in the invasion and she feared the worst. And it only increased in scale.
One moment she was at the hospital, spending a good chunk of her Byakugō Seal's chakra on the patients in a joint-effort with Tsunade-shishou, the next, bright white light and the quick dash of one of Katsuyu's fragments that devoured her form, shielding her from a blast that wiped out every civilian in the vicinity and beyond.
She felt each death, one by one. Their small chakra-signature connected with her's out like a blip.
There's tears running down her cheeks. Her parents, gone. The old-lady down the street who sold candy to her as a child, gone.
Everyone that Konoha Shinobi were sworn to protect, gone.
She wiped her cheeks with her sleeve and marched forward.
Tsunade had already cut off sharing her chakra, no doubt either ran out or died. There's a cold chill that ran down her spine at the thought, an unsettling feeling. There was no one left to provide mass-healing that anyone who was left desperately needed, but she couldn't waste her chakra just like that.
What was the point, hiding away at the hospital, healing civilians and injured shinobi alike only for them to get wiped out just like that? Her chakra spent, with nothing to pay it forward. No one left.
She sees Pein at the epicenter of the explosion, toad summons and a few more smaller figures she couldn't make out quite right. But she memorized what Tsunade's chakra felt like, how bright Naruto's was with the hint of demonic aftertaste.
She jumped forward and landed beside Tsunade, pulsing out chakra in a quick transfusion, just so the woman could have enough strength to stand up.
"Sakura-chan." Naruto starts, his back facing her and his long haori flowing in the wind. "Take Tsunade-baa-chan and back up. I can't have any distractions."
As much as Naruto's back sends a shot of relief through her, she grits her teeth at his voice. "Naruto." She says calmly, standing up and standing beside him. "We're Team 7. The last of dai-nana-han." She fights so hard not to cry on the spot, at the fact that Kaka-sensei was dead. She felt him go so quick too, how much chakra she poured into Katsuyu's fragments nearby that only conveyed he was dead. Cold.
Pein killed Kakashi.
"I'm not standing back anymore, no more!" She shouts, punching her fist into her open palm, "I'm not looking at your back, we'll fight him together!" Black lines shoot down her face, wrapping around her body as chakra courses through her body. "Jump!"
At her shout, she throws a fist to the ground, shattering the entire crater in half. At the unstable ground, all six of Pein's jump into the air, and one of them summons two animals that are dropping one after the other in the air. Without any hesitation, she shoots chakra to her legs and pounces, a hook to the rhino, a jab to the bison that sends them catering to the other side of the destroyed village.
She spots Naruto ahead of her, engaging in a taijutsu fight with the Pein who deflects ninjutsu. This was right up her alley.
Falling from the sky, she aims a heel-kick that this Pein dodges, shattering the ground beneath him. Using an upturned ground, she launches herself in the air, "I got this one, Naruto!" Her fist fly towards the man's face and he tilts his head to dodge. With a smirk, she outputs her chakra into a tenketsu on the side of her wrist, and he goes catering back to the ground, his head launching into the sky to never be seen.
That's one down.
"No time to lose here, I'll finish this with my new jutsu!" Naruto shouts, forming two more clones.
Sakura lands beside one of the clones, her chakra ready to snap forward.
"I see, so you've become a Sage... just like Jiraiya-sensei." Pein says calmly, eyeing the two carefully. "And that girl.. she's exceeded the last status report."
The two freeze at his implication, "Jiraiya-sensei?"
"I also learned jutsu from Jiraiya. He was once my sensei, which would make us siblings disciples. Since we share the same sensei, you and I should be able to understand one another." As Pein talked, she felt Naruto's chakra sharpen at his words, forming a Rasen-Shuriken faster than Pein could connect his next few words. "Our master desired peace."
"Shut the hell up!"
This was unlike any other Rasen-Shuriken Sakura had seen Naruto create. Its chakra focus was massive and incredibly sharp. She could only grimly grin, it looks like Naruto spent his few days of training wisely.
"All that you've done here..." Naruto's eyes scoped the destroyed Konoha before narrowing them at Pein, "Where's the peace in that!?" He threw the Rasen-Shuriken that all five remaining Pein's dodged and one of Pein's flying summons flew down to take a bite out of her.
The Pinkette twirled in the sky, dodging the beak of the summon before axe-kicking it into the ground, pancaking the summon a few feet into the dirt. She needs to take out the summoner, and her eyes narrowed at the female Pein.
Naruto seemed to get the same idea, and with a single motion, one of the smaller toads pushed out a fuuton style attack that covered the air in dust, and Gamakichi swallowed her and Naruto whole. It took only a few more seconds for Gamakichi to regurgitate the two back to the surface, with the female Pein out for the count.
Good, only four more.
"You've exhausted your Sage Mode."
Sakura's eyes snapped back to her blonde teammate, sweeping over his now normal eyes and cursed underneath her breath.
"Now it's our chance." And the Pein's dove in.
"Don't underestimate me!" Sakura shouted, slamming another fist to the ground that uprooted the ground before snapping towards Pein's favorite body. Her body flexed around each and every kick and snap, the body before her diligently dodged each of her attacks. This bout of taijutsu in the air lasted several minutes with sweat dripping down her cheeks.
Dammit, if only she had more time to get accustomed to the seal!
"Sakura-chan, get back!"
At his voice, Sakura snapped one of her legs into Pein's core, shooting the two both back and she landed some-what ungracefully behind the lines, gaping to breath. Pein's body was tossed to the ground and rolled several hundred feet across the battlefield from the kick she was able to land, but it lacked the finesse of a killing blow.
She was drained, she spent too much of her chakra healing beforehand. The black-lines receded back into the diamond on her forehead and her vision blurred. She wasn't so used to having so much chakra in a focused way.
Sakura fought for her eyes to stay open and siphoned slowly some chakra from her seal to sooth the strain on her body and stimulated her brain to stay awake. Just a few more to go..!
Naruto, in almost laughable Naruto-fashion, played a trick on Pein, fooling the remaining bodies with a henge of Rasen-Shuriken, tackling the body that absorbed Ninjutsu and his other clone slamming two rasengan into another, leaving two more Peins.
"Nice, Naruto!" Sakura shouted, rising to her feet.
Now there was only one Pein left, the main one.
"Almighty Push!"
Naruto's bodies flew through the air, his clone popping and Sakura barely catching him in her arms. "Dammit!" Naruto groaned, standing low into a crouch. "What was that jutsu just now?"
"This main Pein's jutsu finally came back." Sakura muttered quietly, eyes trained on the Pein before her. "It's the same one he used to—" She bit her lip and scowled, "—to blow up the village. The more powerful the jutsu, the longer the interval where he can use it next."
Katsuyu slowly slugged her way to Naruto's shoulder, "Using the information that Choji was able to get, the minimum interval between Pein's jutsu is about five seconds."
Sakura smirked with a weary look, "So we just gotta target and strike during that interval." She slammed her two fists together, "Naruto, let's do this."
Naruto blinked at her words, slowly rising to his feet then grinned at her, "Let's go, Sakura-chan!"
. . .
Tamako perched on top of the tree just right outside the now destroyed village. It was astonishing to see all the damage inflicted, with much of the debris cluttered at the large red-village gates that Konoha liked to use as their main entrance and exit. The bodies strewn about, blood stinking the area with half crushed limbs and heads littered the area.
It was disgusting.
Pein had always gone on and on about world peace, that obtaining all nine Bijuu would cease all pain and death. But Pein destroyed this village, not to threaten Konoha in giving up Naruto, not to send a message but on a whim to show them pain.
Her anger only elevated when she saw a small child, no older than eight or nine, crawling underneath some rubble. Their face full of snot and tears, each crawl forward left a bloody trail, smearing to the ground. Tamako's blood ran cold once again.
She let this happen.
The periwinkle haired girl jumped to the ground, slowly approaching the girl in small steps before crouching low. With a gentle face, she smeared the snot and tears from the girl's red face and shushed her. "It's okay. You'll be alright..." She trailed off, her fingers glowing green as she mended the bone, healed the scrapes and soothed her mind.
The girl blinked through her tears, first glancing at her hair, then her eyes to her hiatate, then to her cloak. "N-no, stay away!" She tried to scramble away, but Tamako's hold on her was tighter.
"I-i'm not here to— I just want to help you...!" Tamako nearly begged the girl to heal her, and at the girl's quiet sniffles, she finally let's go, her face cold and eyes full of anger.
She knew Pein was delusional, crazy even. But she's been coughing up his behavior from Obito's machinations and deceit, but this was too far.
For peace?
No, he did it out of anger.
Killing shinobi, she understood.
Killing civilians, children, she did not.
"N-no, don't go..." The girl wailed louder, "Don't leave me..!"
Tamako wiped her tears using the sleeves of her cloak once more, humming a sweet tune as she formed a beautiful lotus with crystal. "Don't worry." She spoke softly, handing the girl the flower, "I'll be with you."
She didn't dare to look at the girl's expression, erasing her features from her mind.
Then she stood up, and shunshin away.
It was easy to hide from Konoha Shinobi who were too enraptured by the fight between Naruto, Pein and to her surprise, Sakura.
There were massive craters littered on the battle-field, so large that each was interconnected to the shattered field. The teamwork between the two was almost a dance, but she could feel both of what remained of dai-nana-han were weakening. Pein's Almighty Push was hard to counter, and there were only so many times that the pair could fling themselves and catch themselves, trying to catch Pein off-guard during the five-second interval.
One slip-up is all it took.
First, it was Naruto's summon, the smaller toad impaled and instantly killed on impact. His shout of surprise and anger led Naruto to be impaled next with the chakra receiver and Sakura quickly sprung herself in the air at the opening.
Only for Pein to simply lift his other free arm that shot out another hidden chakra receiver right through Sakura's chest. The black-lines that warped around her body receded back to her forehead, now that she was unable to mold chakra and control it.
All three collapse to the floor.
The blonde cried out his teammates name.
And she moved.
She appeared behind Pein silently and snapped forward her leg, kicking him away from the two downed teenagers.
"Tamako!"
She ignored the two calls and stared down at her leader. "Pein, when I joined you, I believed in your cause for world peace." She raised her arms and gestured around them. "But this?" Tamako narrowed her eyes, "This is not peace. This is anger!" She shouted, taking a step forward. "Konoha Shinobi and Iwa Shinobi have decimated your country, this is a fact! But for you to cause the same suffering, killing thousands of civilians and children— You are the same as them!"
She took a step forward and planted herself right between Pein and the duo. "Your anger has only bred more anger. Hatred for hatred." The Shouton User paused, and raised her tanto in the air, "Revenge for revenge." Tamako's eyes met his. "You've created more Pein's from this alone."
Then she lunged forward, her tanto swiping at the glint of the sun. Each parry from his chakra receiver created trembles in her bones, the glint of each clash sending whispers to her ears. They danced in the battlefield, crystal erupting from the ground to ensnare and pierce the man before her.
"Pain will give rise to momentary peace."
She grit her teeth, "Killing thousands to obtain a fleeting peace?" Tamako snarled and bared her teeth, "War is just the same! Your plan is flawed."

[Akatsuki (Pein) knows of your betrayal! (-35/100)]
He throws an array of chakra receivers at point blank, and just barely, she forms a crystal shield to deflect, using the platform to back-flip away for added space. Then, she feels another chakra signature land just behind her.
"Hinata!" She shouts, "Pull out the receivers! Don't enter this fight, Pein is beyond you!"
She doesn't know much of this girl, only seeing her from afar and never speaking to her. But she knew, that no one in this village stood a chance against Pein, not even her.
"I can't touch them..!" The Hyuuga girl shouts as Tamako dodges a few more incoming receivers before launching a massive crystal dragon that Pein shinra tensei's away.
Growling, she puckers her mouth and spits out, "Suiton: Water Bullet!"
A few manage to pierce through his cloak, the ground beneath him harpooning into crystal that pierced his arm.
"Huuuap!" Hinata shouts, breaking a few of the receivers embedded into Naruto before she flies away, rolling on the floor.
Now!
She lunged forward with her tanto, piercing her chest with a smirk. "Five seconds, isn't it?"
He has no expression, and without waiting, he bends his back into an arc, kicking her away and sending another Shinra Tensei that blows her back even further. Tamako twists her body midflight, forming a crystal platform to land horizontally and claps her hands together. "Shouton: Crystal Shackles!"
At her call, the ground beneath Pein envelops the man's legs with crystal chains, maneuvering around his body as he tensed at the tight hold. His eyes narrow, his arms spread out ready for another Shinra Tensei.
This time, she's ready and forms a shield in front of her.
Then, Pein does something she didn't calculate. He uses his Shinra Tensei to grab ahold of Hinata and flings her up high into the air, then down.
"Hinata!" Two voices echo, her body crunches into the dirt with a gasp of pain.
Tamako glances at the girl's progress with the receivers, half-way done. But with the way Hinata was bleeding from her head, Tamako knew it was over.
"Tamako!" Naruto shouted, "Help Hinata! He—he's going to kill her!"
She was the only thing keeping Sakura from death, if she went to assist Hinata, then Pein will change his target to the defenseless Pinkette.
What was she saying? Everyone on the field is defenseless.
She blocks the next Shinra Tensei aimed at the Hyuuga with a shield before throwing the girl over her shoulder and ran across the field. There was a split-second where she could feel the chakra used for Shinra Tensei, so she dodged and weaved.
By the sliver of a hair, she dodges one strike and she counts down.
Five, four, three, two, one—
Tamako forms a platform and jumps into the air, dodging another, and the counter restarts
By the third Shinra Tensei, Pein turns his attention to the Pinkette.
"Why do you fight?" He asks, grabbing Sakura by the hair and lifting her into the air. There's blood dripping down where he pierced her, the chakra receiver the only thing ensuring she didn't bleed out this entire time.
"Sakura-chan!"
Tamako pounces, dropping off Hinata by Naruto and forming a crystal dome around the two. She forms hand-signs and slams them to the ground, "Doton: Earth Corridor!"
The ground beneath Pein shutters, separating a portion into the air and enclaves the area, trapping him with her. She eyes Sakura's prone body, discarded on the ground after Pein threw her over his shoulder and regarded the periwinkle haired girl with a tilt of the head.
"Why do you fight for Konoha?"
"I'm not." She gives him a weary grin, "I'm fighting for peace."
He grabs ahold of her body with Shinra Tensei and throws her against her mud dome, shattering the encasement and sending her skidding across the ground.
-4,000 HP!
She spits to the side and claps her hands onto the ground, "Doton: Devouring Earth!" The mud wall beside Pein takes the shape of massive jaws, closing in on Pein who easily destroys her jutsu with another Shinra Tensei.
"Talk about a one-trick pony." Tamako mutters, sending her earth clone deep into the soil.
Pein walks out of the mud dome and peers at her. "Why fight a futile battle?"
"You ask a lot of questions, don't you!" Dozens of crystal senbon form in the air, homing towards Pein.
Just as expected, he Shinra Tensei's them away and her clone's arm pops from the ground, grabbing ahold of Pein before drilling him into the ground. With a flicker, Tamako's fingers wrap around a comically large crystal hammer, sending it down as if she were playing golf.
The swing lands it's hit, and Pein's head cocks to the side forcefully, his neck cracking to the side with a snap.
She drops the hammer and nearly falls to her knees.
Is he dead?
Then she feels weightless, her legs no longer supporting her weight.
And falls.
