The Hogwarts courtyard was alive with the buzz of students taking advantage of the rare sunny afternoon. It was the kind of day that made even the most dedicated students put down their books and breathe in the fresh air. Among the clusters of chattering friends and couples, a solitary figure stood out, nervously shifting his weight from one foot to the other.
Arthur Weasley, a fifth-year Gryffindor, was known for his fascination with Muggle artifacts and his tendency to get lost in the details of how things worked. Today, however, his focus was entirely elsewhere. His friend, Fabian Prewett, had mentioned that his sister would be spending her afternoon in the courtyard, and Arthur had been unable to shake the idea of introducing himself. Fabian's stories about Molly's fiery personality and kind heart had intrigued Arthur more than he cared to admit.
Arthur's hand went to his glasses, adjusting them for what felt like the hundredth time. His other hand clutched a small, peculiar object—a Muggle pocket watch he had found and painstakingly repaired. It was meant to be a conversation starter, though now it felt more like a silly trinket.
As he scanned the courtyard, his eyes finally landed on her. Molly Prewett sat on a stone bench under a large oak tree, her red hair catching the sunlight like a halo. She was engrossed in a book, occasionally brushing a stray lock of hair out of her face. Arthur took a deep breath, steeled his nerves, and started towards her.
Molly was so absorbed in her reading that she didn't notice Arthur's approach until he was almost in front of her. She looked up, her warm brown eyes meeting his, and Arthur felt his heart skip a beat.
"Hello," he said, his voice a bit higher than he intended. "You're Molly Prewett, right? Fabian's sister?"
Molly's lips curved into a friendly smile. "That's right. And you must be Arthur Weasley. Fabian's mentioned you a few times."
Arthur's face lit up with a mixture of relief and delight. "Good things, I hope."
Molly chuckled, closing her book but keeping a finger between the pages to mark her spot. "Mostly about your fascination with Muggles and their gadgets."
Arthur's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "Speaking of which," he said, holding out the pocket watch, "I found this and thought you might like to see it. It's a Muggle pocket watch. I managed to get it working again."
Molly took the watch, examining it with interest. "That's impressive. I wouldn't know where to start with something like this."
Arthur scratched the back of his neck, a bit embarrassed. "It's just a hobby. I think Muggles are fascinating—how they manage without magic."
Molly handed the watch back, her smile widening. "I think it's wonderful. It's important to understand different perspectives."
Arthur felt a surge of gratitude. "I'm glad you think so. Most people just think I'm odd."
Molly's gaze softened. "Being different isn't a bad thing, Arthur. In fact, I think it's quite admirable."
A comfortable silence settled between them, broken only by the distant laughter of other students. Arthur felt a warmth spread through him, the nervousness that had gripped him moments before melting away.
"So, what are you reading?" he asked, gesturing to her book.
Molly's eyes lit up. "It's a collection of enchanted folk tales. Some of them are really quite fascinating."
Arthur's curiosity was piqued. "I'd love to hear about them sometime."
Molly's smile was bright enough to rival the sun. "I'd like that."
They spent the next hour talking, sharing stories and interests. Arthur found himself captivated by Molly's intelligence and kindness, and Molly was equally charmed by Arthur's genuine curiosity and gentle nature. As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, casting long shadows across the courtyard, they reluctantly parted ways, each feeling a sense of anticipation for the next time they would meet.
As Arthur walked back to the Gryffindor common room, he couldn't help but smile. Meeting Molly Prewett had been everything he'd hoped for and more. Little did he know, this chance encounter was the beginning of a lifelong journey together, one filled with love, laughter, and a bit of Weasley magic.
