A/N Here I am breaking my own rules again! (The description has now been updated to TBR unless otherwise specified because then I can write what I want!) Just had an idea for a scene in TBG and couldn't resist writing it. Tracy and Cam together are adorable anyway so you can't complain!
This is two scenes in one because they're either side of one scene in the episode. There is a new timestamp when it switches to after the scene, it should be fairly easy to follow
The Beaker Girls Series 2 Episode 8: Telling Stories - 8:47
Cam POV
I ran out of the room after Tracy, Mary close behind me. I was worried by her outburst. Fostering Jordan had clearly brought up some long-forgotten trauma, not helped by some of it staring her in the face reading out lies.
"Tracy, wait!" I called after her as she left the centre. She hadn't slowed down the way I'd been expecting, which worried me further.
"I need to get home. I, I need to find something." There were tears rolling down her cheeks, her movements were frantic.
I took her hands. "Hey. Just stop for a moment. Just breathe."
She pulled away from me. "I need to get home." She turned and began walking again, her pace just as unreasonable as before.
I looked to Mary for a moment, my face full of worry, before I followed Tracy.
Telling Stories - 10:00
Tracy turned to face me. I could see the look in her eyes.
Mary looked to Jess. "Come on. Let's go and get the paint ready, shall we?" She went over to Jess and they left the room together, closing the door behind them.
I gave Tracy a reassuring smile. "Come here."
Tracy joined me on the bed. I could tell she was on the verge of tears.
"Are you ok?"
Tracy shook her head. I could tell she was trying not to cry.
"That really threw you, didn't it?"
"She just, she always made things up about me. They all did. And there was nothing I could do to make them understand." She sniffled. "All I wanted was for them to understand. I'm not naughty, I didn't do half the things they said I did on purpose, but they always judged me for every single little thing..."
The tears overflowed.
I pulled her towards me, holding her in a tight hug. "It's ok. You're not there anymore. You've got me."
Tracy hugged me tightly back. I could feel just how tense she was, how many raw emotions were running through her.
"It's ok. I said I'd be here, didn't I? And I will. Always." I paused to give her a kiss. "I love you, Tracy. And nothing is ever going to change that."
"I love you too."
I gave her a squeeze, then we sat in silence for a little while. I allowed Tracy the space to think, to calm, safe in my arms.
Eventually she pulled away. She looked at me anxiously. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be sorry." I took her hand and gave it a squeeze. "Like Jess said, Peter can fix the award, so you've still got your amazing achievement. And you've thrown enough tears my way over the years!"
"Err, excuse me, that's mostly been hay fever! I hardly ever cry." There was a twinkle in her eyes and a smile on her face.
I chuckled, shaking my head at her. Then I looked at her closely. "Are you ok?"
"I am now."
"I know you put on a front for Jess, but if you want a bit of a break then you don't have to paint straight away. I know that was a lot."
She gave me a smile. "No, I think it'll be helpful to get my mind off things. And it does really need doing."
"Ok." I gave her hand another squeeze. "Just remember, Tracy, you don't need fixing, you are not broken. You are an amazing mum to both those girls, and they are very lucky to have you."
"They're not the only ones."
I looked at her, puzzled. "What do you mean?"
She gave me a meaning look.
I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Go on, go get ready for your painting, Jess will be waiting."
She gave my hand a squeeze, before she got up and left the room.
I allowed a couple of my own tears to escape. I was so proud of Tracy, everything she has achieved, and the way she kept on fighting, no matter what the world threw at her. With my support she was always going to go far.
Mary knocked on the door, then came in. "Is she ok?"
I gave her a smile. "Yeah. She's ok."
Mary gave me a smile back.
