Talk About The Trials
"What do I have to do, Brother?" Carmen asked.
"You have six trials to go through before you reach adulthood." Rafael told Carmen seriously.
Carmen was intrigued, "What are my trials exactly?" she asked.
"Your first trial, is to go to a cave not too far from here and bring back a crystal that is unique to you." Rafael said to his sister.
"I have my mountain bike," Carmen said. "I can get to the crystal cave easily!"
"It is much faster on horseback, and since you don't ride because I know you have no interest in actually riding," Rafael said. "I will take you there myself on Diablo's back."
"Thank you, Brother," Carmen said before biting into her biscuits and gravy. "what is my second trial?"
Lisa took a sip of orange juice as Rafael answered his sister.
"Your second trial," Rafael explained to Carmen. "is to win a dance competition against other Romani teens in our band."
"That should be easy," Carmen said to Rafael. "I have been practicing."
"But the conpetition is single dancers only." Lisa said.
"That's good," Carmen sighed with relief. "that means that Ryo Kasanoda, as clingy as he is, will not be joing me, anyway, Brother, what's my third trial?"
"Your third trial, Sis," Rafael replied to Carmen. "is to spend the night alone in the woods."
"A night of camping alone in the woods, I can handle it," Carmen commented. "what about my fourth trial?"
"Your fourth trial, is to discover your crystal's special secret." Rafael said.
"What about my fifth trial?" Carmen asked.
"Your fifth trial is to retrieve a special gold coin and bring it back here." Lisa answered Carmen.
"What about my sixth and final trial?" Carmen asked, she was curious.
"Your sixth and final trial with your hope and courage by your side, " Lisa said to Carmen. "is to save the life of a boy that you would find special one day."
Carmen ran from the table to her bedroom.
"Where are you going, Carmen?" Rafael asked.
"I'm going to get started on my trials right now, Rafael!" Carmen answered.
"That's my brave little sister." Rafael said proudly.
Carmen raced outside, there, she saw Rafael summoning Diablo.
