Carmen Gets Her Crystal

While on their way to the Cave of Crystals, Carmen had something to tell Rafael.

"Raf," Carmen said. "I have made a decision."

Rafael turned to his sister, "What is it, Carmen?" he asked.

"When the time comes for my campout," Carmen said. "I would like to travel using my mountain bike, may I do that?"

"I don't see why you cannot." Rafael answered Carmen.

Diablo and Rafael knew the way to the Cave of Crystals, so they let Carmen off at the mouth of the cave.

When she found the secret room of crystals, Carmen saw dozens and dozens of beautiful Romani crystals.

A beautiful red crystal began to glow out of the corner of Carmen's eye.

When she picked up the glowing red crystal, Carmen saw a vision of the boy from her dream.

The boy was practicing for a jumping competition and she felt like his confidence was slipping.

When the vision ended, the crystal itself flew right into Carmen's right hand.

Carmen slipped the crystal into her right pants pocket.

Carmen raced out of the cave and got onto Diablo's back with Rafael so Diablo could take them home.

It was almost dusk by the time Carmen, Rafael, and Diablo returned to the family's campground.

When Carmen and Rafael went into their family's trailer, they found Lisa waiting for them with dinner on the table.

"Soup's on." Lisa said to Rafael and Carmen.

Technically, Lisa made Carmen's favorite meal for dinner, grilled chicken with a side dish of applesauce and savory roasted potatoes, and mountain spring water to drink, she just used a phrase which here means "The meal is on the table".

Carmen and Rafael sat down at the table.

"Oh yum! All of my favorite foods! And it isn't even my birthday! That's not for two more weeks! And, I'm ready for my second trial!" Carmen exclaimed.

Rafael and Lisa looked at one another, then, they looked at Carmen.

"Carmen," Rafael said firmly. "you just got your crystal today."

"But, Brother..." Carmen began.

"No 'buts' about it, you need to take it easy!" Rafael scolded his younger sister sharply.

"But, Brother..." Carmen began again.

"Listen to your brother, Carmen." Lisa said kindly.
