A Night In The Forest

"Hi, EJ." Carmen greeted back.

"What are you doing?" EJ asked Carmen.

"Just watching my friends rehearse their acrobatics routine for tonight's show." Carmen answered EJ.

Mirabel was the very top of the human pyramid, so it was easy for her to make it to the floor without toppling the rest of the human pyramid.

"Hi, Carmen," Mirabel greeted. "whoa! Who's your friend?"

"Mirabel De La Cruz, meet Ethan James Connors," Carmen introduced. "Ethan James Connors, meet Mirabel De La Cruz."

EJ and Mirabel locked eyes.

"Hello." EJ said softly.

"Hello." Mirabel said softly.

"I won't be performing tonight because I have to go somewhere." Carmen said.

That night, Carmen was packing everything she needed for her one night campout in the woods.

While at her campsite, Carmen was filling up her canteen with fresh water from a nearby stream.

When she went to bed, Carmen had her dream again.

Within her dream, it was a warm morning as a group of Pine Hollow students had ridden down to the shore of the nearby river.

Carmen was there too and she was talking to some of her friends who attended the riding school.

One of Carmen's friends heard splashing and saw a young boy flailing his arms in the water.

"Oh no," Carmen's friend shouted. "a boy is drowning in the water! And the current is carrying him into the rapids!"

Carmen took her jellies off and made a quick dive into the water.

"I won't let you die in a watery grave!" Carmen exclaimed.

"Do be careful, Carmen." Carmen's friend said.

Carmen swam over to the boy just before he hit the rapids.

Carmen got the boy to shore safely.

"The fool swallowed a lot of water," a snooty rich girl laughed. "he's done for!"

"Not yet, Renee! I know CPR!" Carmen said to the snooty girl.

Deborah came over to the spot where Carmen was administering CPR on the boy.

The boy coughed up some water.

Now, Carmen could see the boy's face clearly, he had jet black hair.

When the boy opened his eyes, Carmen saw that they were green.

"Good job, Carmen." Deborah praised.

"Thanks, Deborah." Carmen said.

"Thank you." the boy signed to Carmen.

The very next morning as Carmen prepared to set off for home, she was pleased with herself, she had seen the face of the boy from her dream.
