AN: I OWN NOTHING
Time: 20:35
Location: Mesquite Mountains Camp Site
By the time Six arrived back at his makeshift camp with his companions, it was already past sundown. Not that it mattered to the former Ranger turned Courier, but he had to take caution. Otherwi-
"JEEPERS WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!?" A feminine voice broke his train of thought as he turned around to see Daphne failing to grab for her 9mm Browning Hi-Power at a Rad-Scorpion approaching the three. 'Sigh the things I do for these damn meddling kids…' He muttered before pushing Daphne aside and fanning three .45-70 rounds in the mutated scorpion's head.
"Before you ask what in the hell that was, it's a radscorpion." He sneered after holstering his Sequoia. "Camp's just a few short yards up that hill. Once we're there, we're gonna discuss a few things. No more arguing or freak outs till we get there. Got it?" Six finished, only to get a rather shaking nod from the kids as they reached the outskirts of it.
A few minutes later….
Fred was practically exhausted, tired, grieved, and above all else relieved at all of the events he (and Daphne to some degree) went through the past few days. Just a few minutes earlier when they finally stopped into camp and saw a lit campfire, he practically rushed over towards it and knelt down next to it.
He couldn't help but think about all the people he killed today, was it in self defense? Was it wrong to do it? How would she react to it? Daphne noticed his look all too well and decided to find out for herself. "Freddie… Are you alright?" she asked calmly
"Daph…" Fred started, still gazing at the campfire's ember glow, "Ever since I woke up in Goodsprings my whole life's practically been thrown under it's head. The gang's all missing, there's no more traps, and worst of all…" He paused, raising his hands ever so slightly to his face.
"Freddie… Did you?" He nodded. "I've killed people. Six said not to worry about it and focus on surviving but after ALL we've been through, Nibiru or not, it's taken its toll on me. I do-" Before he could finish, she knelt down and hugged him. A few moments after letting go she spoke up.
"Fred, I understand and to be honest when I was surrounded by those Cannibals I was fucking terrified!" she exclaimed, "The only way I managed to keep strong was thinking of you. I'm sure that wherever the rest of the gang are, they are fine…"
Meanwhile in a Toxic City/Casino surrounded by a Red Cloud an unkempt hippie and his dog were running like hell from a sizable entourage of Ghost People. After gaining consciousness, the two woke up with bomb collars strapped to their necks and being ordered to find a Mr. 'Dean Domino' by you guessed it, old man Schizo E-
"LIKE SCOOB, THESE FREAKY GHOULIE GHOSTS ARE SCARING THE SHIT OF ME MAN!" The hippie screamed to his canine fri- "I RNOW RAGGY!" the dog replied before jumping onto his owner's grasp as one of them tried throwing a makeshift gas bomb at the two.
"Besides Freddie, no matter what happens, even if the gang's all split up, I can still feel them here with us." Daphne finished to a teary Fred. "Daph… I cannot express how m-"
"Much I love to see yinz be all lovey-dovey" Six chimed in, "But It's time for our discussions." The two looked back and saw a helmetless Six stroll up and sitting next to the two.
"What-more is there to discuss dad" Fred spoke up, "I already explained Nibiru the best I c-"
"Wait… He's your dad Freddie?" Daphne interrupted, "I thought…" Before she could continue, Six threw a folder into her face. "That there is all the evidence of me being his Pa. Birth Certificate and all." Sure enough, by some bullshit logic the author cannot even describe [Wild Wasteland], the folder wasn't faked as each piece of evidence was physical proof. Even ED-E was surprised as well.
"Now then, with that out of the way... I think it's time we discuss this… 'Nibiru' an' Sumerian Evil Entity bullshit. now. In return I'll explain what happened afterwards. Got it?" The trio said nothing until Fred began.
"From what I can recall Dad, what I tried describing back in Doc Mitchells is practically word for word we were told through all things, a talking alien turned dog." Six sighed, "oh for fuck sa- okay… continue."
"After the evil entity was sealed off, It was hidden away in an old mayan temple until.." Fred trailed off as Daphne stepped in to help, "Until the Spanish Conquistadors arrived and well… Stole it. From what we learned, the 'entity tomb' hypnotized them and well… If you know Central American history then…"
"...That single fucking thing caused all that pillaging? Jesus…. Go on." Six chimed as Fred took the helm.
"Over the years, the evil entity just sort of… Popped in and out of events. Several mystery solving teams like us tried to stop it but to no avail. Hell one of them even managed to persuade a certain group of Serbians t-"
"PAUSE." Six interrupted with a hint of surprise, "You mean to tell me. That an ancient alien entity, CAUSED THE FIRST FUCKING WORLD WAR!?" Fred nodded.
"All this war… The blood spilt. ALL BECAUSE OF FUCKING ALIENS!?" Six angrily started swearing every foul word ever conjured by the human mind at the sky after hearing that revelation. Yes. Even ones not allowed I cannot say, otherwise the author would get banned. [Wild Wasteland]
"Sorry.. Just had to let that all out." Six apologized only to see a very traumatized 100 yard stare Fred and Daphne at him. "What?" He said.
"I'm.. I'm gonna pretend I didn't hear that." Daphne sighed, "Anyways, the last mystery inc who tried to stop it split paths and well… Before everything went white we destroyed it." She finished.
Six after hearing that breathed a sigh of relief, "Shit. Guess you were right son…" He said, "Anyways, best that I explain what happened afterwards…" He paused, then began.
"From what the records entail, Crystal Cove mysteriously was rebranded as this… Happiest place in California town. Nobody outside it knew why or now it went from haunted to that in a heartbeat, but from what ya two told me… I'd say its because of that alien fuck. Hell there were records of entire townsfolk just being completely changing personality wise."
"...Personality wise? How so?" Daphne quizzed, "I'll give a good example. You're part of the Blake family right?" Six chirped back, getting a nod from the girl in return. "Well from what the records said, their 'remaining daughters' went from being successful to downright failures."
The two froze in terror after hearing that. "Freddie… Y- You don't think that…" Fred nodded in return as Six continued.
"Anyways, around 2050 or so the oil started to go up in smoke. 'Decade or so later China invaded Alaska and that…" Six sighed, thinking back of his days during the pre-war period. "That leads to the wastelands you see today…" The two glanced at each other somberly as he continued.
"On October 23rd, 2077. Alarm sirens ran out across the United States. Most thought of it as a drill, but… I'm sorry to say, it was real. The world Was entirely Nuked." Six shuddered.
"Sure vaults were built, but they too were experiments. The only way I survived was through an old casino that was under-construction by this Sinclair asshole… Was making rounds through the theater when the security system kicked in and started killing anyone it saw." He paused, thinking back to that dreadful day.
"Only way I survived was hiding in the Sewer systems. I cannot tell you how or why I'm still alive but whatever the case, I doubt any Entity had involvement with this. Crystal Cove fared no better as it was completely wiped off the map like the boneyard. There's barely a settlement there now even in NCR territory as the area is infested with German looking robots, weird anomalies, a ton of Feral Ghouls, and genuine Ghosts."
Six paused before glancing back into the fire saying; "War Never Changes out here in the wasteland. And from what I saw earlier, you two need to let go of the past and focus on surviving. I know it'll be hard, but I'll provide help wherever I can."
As six finished, he took one glance at the two teens who were practically pale in his summary. "My god…" Daphne said, "I… Thanks for the help but… That's-"
"A lot to take in, I know. But I think it's time we get some rest. You two definitely deserve it." Six yawned, before heading into a tent. "Night y'all."
"G- Goodnight I guess…" Fred replied, as the two sat there next to the dying campfire before bunkering in a nearby tent for a long restless night….
