009: Eternal Rivals? Infinite Enemies.
The tension on Drum Island was palpable, with pirates and locals alike sensing the impending conflict. Zoro and Usopp stood vigilantly beside Dalton as the cowardly king Wapol made his demands. Meanwhile, Hanabi perched on the roof, diligently sketching in her book, while below, Menchi orchestrated a culinary masterpiece.
In the makeshift kitchen, Menchi had been working tirelessly, utilising the crew's provisions to prepare a feast for the villagers. It was her way of expressing gratitude for their hospitality and ensuring Gin would have a nourishing meal. Nojiko and Vivi assisted her, creating an efficient and harmonious atmosphere.
Vivi relished the female companionship, finding a refreshing change from her usual interactions. The aroma wafting through the air reminded her of Sanji's cooking, warming her spirit amidst the cold climate.
Nojiko, though focused on her tasks, couldn't entirely shake her concern for her sister Nami's well-being.
Suddenly, the peaceful scene was shattered by loud banging on the door, accompanied by imperious demands to welcome the returning king. Menchi instinctively reached for her knives, but before she could act, a soldier kicked in the door.
In a flash, Nojiko sprang into action. With fluid grace, she drew the rifle from her back, slid under a table, and executed a reverse roundhouse kick in one smooth motion. The impact was devastating; a sickening pop echoed as the soldier's jaw dislocated. He fell backward, and in an instant, Nojiko had him pinned, her foot on his neck and the rifle's muzzle in his mouth, mimcing the slight training her mother showed her years ago.
The commotion outside abruptly ceased. Hanabi, perched on her vantage point, glanced down from her sketchbook and witnessed Nojiko's impressive display of skill. The older woman stood firmly, her foot pressing on a grunt's throat, rifle aimed with deadly precision. Hanabi whistled softly, a newfound respect gleaming in her eyes. 'Maybe she does have what it takes,' the younger girl thought, impressed by her crewmate's resolute stance.
Dalton, observing the scene unfold, allowed a smirk to cross his weathered face. "Looks like you have your answer, Wapol," he declared confidently, his voice carrying a mix of defiance and satisfaction. Then, to everyone's amazement, Dalton's body began to transform. Thick, coarse fur sprouted across his skin as he grew taller, his muscles bulging and rippling beneath. Impressive horns emerged from his forehead, curving upward menacingly.
The atmosphere crackled with tension, an almost palpable electricity in the air as both sides braced themselves for the inevitable clash. The snow-laden wind seemed to hold its breath, waiting for the first move.
Wapol, his face contorted with rage, snarled viciously before nodding to his right-hand man and older brother, Musshuru. The latter's lips curled into a sinister smirk, his eyes glinting with malicious intent. "2nd and 3rd legions will remain here and secure a foothold," Musshuru barked, his voice carrying the authority of command, "While the 1st division shall escort my baby brother up to his castle."
The point of contact between Dalton's fist and the guard reverberated through the air, sending shockwaves of snow and debris outward. Like a lit fuse, that single blow ignited the powder keg of tension. In an instant, the scene erupted into chaos. Pirates, soldiers, and villagers alike sprang into motion, the air filling with battle cries and the clash of weapons.
Zoro, his eyes gleaming with the promise of a good fight, drew his three swords in a fluid motion, the steel singing as it cut through the frigid air. Hanabi, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips, gracefully leapt down from her perch. Landing softly in the snow next to the scarred swordsman, she assumed a familiar hand-to-hand combat stance, her body coiled like a spring ready to unleash explosive power. "Hey Roronoa, it's been a while since we brawled together, think you can still keep up?"
"Hanabi, I don't want to hear that kind of talk from a short stack like you."
The younger girl just stuck her tongue at the older teen in a childish fashion not a lick of concern written across her face as got ready for a fight.
Usopp, his knees quaking but his resolve firm, had his slingshot at the ready. He crouched behind a dead tree that offered little more than psychological comfort, his fingers fumbling with various ammunition as he prepared to support his allies from afar.
Beside Nojiko, Menchi unsheathed her own blades, her chef's knives glinting dangerously in the winter light. "You bastards are interrupting the cooking process, now who wants to get cut up?"
Vivi, realising that the situation had escalated beyond diplomacy, withdrew her peacock slashers with a heavy heart. The weapons' chains clinked softly as she took up position alongside Menchi and Nojiko outside the house. Karoo, ever loyal, stood bravely beside her, his feathers ruffled in anticipation.
Nojiko, her rifle at the ready, scanned the battlefield with a keen eye, looking for strategic positions and potential threats.
The once undisturbed winter landscape transformed into a frenzied battlefield. Dalton's decisive action had served as the catalyst for this long-brewing confrontation, and now the snow-covered ground trembled beneath the feet of combatants ready to clash in a storm of steel, fists, and willpower.
While the battle for Drum Island raged, elsewhere in Paradise, a formidable force gathered at their stronghold on Flores Island. The bay was a sight to behold, with twelve imposing ships anchored in formation, their black flags fluttering ominously in the sea breeze. Over 150 battle-hardened pirates milled about, a mere shadow of their former strength before their devastating clash with the Spade Pirates years ago.
In the heart of their fortress, Captain Hanafuda, a former Warlord of the Sea, sat upon his throne-like chair. His imposing figure exuded an aura of power and authority. With his one good eye, a testament to battles past, he surveyed his crew's main enforcers gathered before him. Each of them was a force to be reckoned with, their reputations preceding them across the Grand Line.
Natsuo Zenin, the navigator, stood with an air of calculated precision. His bounty of 85 million berries spoke volumes of his skills both in navigation and combat. His eyes, sharp and alert, seemed to be constantly analysing his surroundings.
Dr. Franken Stein, the mercenary doctor, exuded an aura of barely contained madness as he played with a large screw drilled into his head. His reputation for both healing and harm had earned him a bounty of 105 million berries. The glint behind his spectacles, in his eyes suggested a mind teetering on the edge of brilliance and insanity.
Shishio Makato, Hanafuda's right-hand man, stood stoically. The exiled samurai from Wano carried the weight of his 117 million berry bounty with pride. His hand rested on the hilt of his sword, ready for action at a moment's notice.
Daki, the youngest of the enforcers, was a study in contrasts. Her beauty was matched only by her viciousness, a combination that had earned her a 45 million berry bounty. Her vain demeanour belied a ruthless efficiency in combat.
Heinkel Wulf, the self-proclaimed fastest gun on the seas, fidgeted with his pistols. His quick draw and deadly aim justified his 45 million berry bounty, and his eyes darted about, as if always looking for the next target.
Finally, Gyutaro, Hanafuda's favorite enforcer and Daki's twin, stood with an air of menace. His mastery over his powerful Devil Fruit and his ruthless nature had garnered him a 75 million berry bounty. The bond between the twins was palpable, adding an extra layer of danger to their presence.
Hanafuda's piercing gaze swept across his enforcers, his scarred face twisted into a predatory smirk. The air in the room crackled with anticipation, heavy with the promise of impending violence. The very walls seemed to tremble, as if sensing the storm these pirates were about to unleash upon Paradise.
Leaning forward in his throne-like chair, Hanafuda's voice cut through the silence like a blade. "Some no-name rookie stole from us," he snarled, his words dripping with venom. "That Devil Fruit would have been our ticket back into Lord Kaido's good graces." He spat, the glob of saliva sizzling on the floor, a testament to his fury. "Months we spent tracking down that fruit, rebuilding our forces. We won't lose it all because another East Blue gutter rat thinks they're hot shit."
At the mention of Kaido, one of the Yonko, the entire crew visibly stiffened. The weight of their fall from grace hung heavy in the air. Since losing his Warlord status, Hanafuda had watched Kaido turn to Doflamingo for business, leaving them high and dry. This was more than just a chance to regain favor; it was an opportunity to claw their way back into the New World and exact their long-awaited revenge on Fire Fist Ace, the man who had humiliated them years ago.
Stein, the mercenary doctor, remained unperturbed amidst the tension. As the newest addition to the crew, recruited after Hanafuda's fall from grace, he lacked the personal stake the others held in this vendetta.
Hanafuda's eye narrowed as he issued his orders. "Daki, Heinkel," he barked, his tone brooking no argument. "Take a ship. Let the grunts do the grunt work. Observe and report. I want to know exactly what and who I'm dealing with."
Heinkel's response was immediate, a smirk playing on their lips as they holstered their guns with a flourish. "Will do, boss," they drawled, clearly relishing the prospect of action.
Daki, however, couldn't hide her displeasure. Her cheeks puffed out in a childish pout, a protest forming on her lips. But before she could voice her disagreement, a low, menacing hiss emanated from the back of Hanafuda's throat. The sound, barely audible yet unmistakably threatening, froze the words in her mouth. "Yes, Captain," she mumbled, bowing her head in submission.
The throne room pulsed with unspoken threats and simmering resentments, Hanafuda ruled with an iron claw even ignoring Gyutaro's glare for threatening his sister. 'I am heir to the dragon, or I will be again. Just you wait,' the former warlord thought to himself As he dismissed his enforcers, the air remained charged with anticipation. The hunt was on, and Paradise would soon feel the full fury of a fallen Warlord determined to reclaim his place in the pirate hierarchy.
The tension on Drum Island reached a fever pitch as the battle for the town raged below. Atop the mountain, outside the castle, stood an imposing force: 100 royal guards flanking King Wapol, his elite Chess and Kuromarimo, and the most dangerous among them - Musshuru, the bastard prince. Musshuru, never the heir but a cold, cruel reminder of everything Wapol wasn't, exuded an aura of malice that surpassed even his younger brother's cruelty.
"Should we say hello, brother?" Musshuru's voice dripped with sarcasm as he signaled a soldier wielding a bazooka. The question was rhetorical, a mere formality before action.
"Wait, broth-" Wapol's protest was cut short by the deafening explosion as the shell struck the castle's outer wall. The sound reverberated through the mountain, a thunderous declaration of their arrival.
As the smoke dissipated, Wapol's eyes widened. His inheritance stood unscathed, but the main gate now gaped open. From within emerged four figures, each radiating an aura of defiance:
A blonde teen with distinctive whisker-like markings, his ocean-blue eyes gleaming with mischief.
A scrawny, black-haired youth wearing a straw hat, his posture relaxed yet ready for action.
A well-dressed blonde, cigarette dangling from his lips, exuding an air of nonchalant confidence.
And most surprisingly, a small reindeer wearing a hat, standing upright alongside the humans.
"Is that a reindeer with a hat?" Chess rubbed his eyes in disbelief, his voice a mix of confusion and awe.
The reindeer, Chopper, addressed Naruto, his voice tinged with concern. "Doctorine is just finishing up with your friends. He's going to be okay, but he won't be awake for a while."
Naruto's mind raced, 'Ah, that explains why Shinobu hasn't come running out.' He flashed a warm smile at the reindeer. "Thank ya, Tanuki-kun," he quipped, before turning his attention to the formidable force before them. With a low whistle, he taunted, "Oi, Straw Hat, you sure you don't want to head inside while I handle this?"
Luffy's response was immediate, his limbs already stretching in anticipation. "Go inside? Why would I do that?"
Wapol, indignant at being ignored, bellowed, "Vacate my home immediately! Or face the wrath of my 100-man 1st division soldiers, the very best of the best!"
Naruto's eyes gleamed with mischief. "Aww, only a hundred? Well, I guess that leaves 51 for me, 49 for you, and Swirly Brow over there can handle at least two scrubs, right?" His taunt hit its mark, irritating both enemies and allies alike.
"Swirly Brow? Bastard, who do you think you are?" Sanji's outburst was cut short as Luffy suddenly headbutted Naruto, their foreheads grinding together in a display of competitive spirit.
"49? I'll wipe 'em all out!" Luffy shouted, pushing against the older teen.
Wapol, increasingly frustrated at being ignored, tried again. "Excuse me!"
Naruto pushed back, his voice rising. "Like hell you will, Straw Hat! You already stole the Arlong kill, don't get in my way!"
"Oi, you're supposed to be listening to me!" Wapol's shout was abruptly silenced as two fists, one from each pirate captain, connected with his cheeks. The impact sent him flying back into his own men, a comical arc through the air.
"What do you want? Can't you see we're busy over here?" Both rookie captains shouted in unison, their attention barely flickering to the fallen king.
Sanji stood slack-jawed, his cigarette nearly falling from his lips. 'There's two of them,' he thought, a chill running down his spine at the prospect of another Luffy-type on the seas. 'And I didn't even see his hand leave his pocket. How did he also send the fat king flying?'
The elder brother of Wapol sneered down at his younger brother for embarrassing them, before he smirked and signalled the whole division should charge these four idiots.
Naruto just smirked and began to slowly walk to the charging battalion.
"Shit they're charging," Sanji cursed to himself quietly, while he was confident, he could kick their asses with the amount of them. 'Anyone could sneak in and hurt my gorgeous Nami.'
"Sanji, Chopper, stay back." Luffy ordered as he stepped forward in line with the other blonde.
"You ready kid?" Naruto asked his fellow captain. "To show em what the East Blue is made of?"
Luffy's eyes narrowed as he adjusted his straw hat, a telltale sign that he was about to get serious. The atmosphere shifted palpably as Wapol's 100-man 1st division soldiers charged forward. Naruto and Luffy exchanged a competitive glance, their earlier bickering transforming into a silent agreement. Without a word, they sprang into action, their movements a blur of speed and precision.
Luffy's arms stretched impossibly long, his fists flying through the air like rubber cannonballs. "Gomu Gomu no Gatling!" he roared, his rapid-fire punches creating a storm of fists that took down a dozen soldiers in mere seconds. The impact of each blow echoed across the snowy battlefield, sending bodies flying in all directions.
Not to be outdone, Naruto's hands emerged from his pockets with lightning speed, utilsing same principles for his Iaiken style, just with the bonus of crystalline structures forming around his fists. "Kesho Kesho no Meteor Shower!" he called out, his voice resonating with power. A dazzling barrage of crystal shards rained down on the soldiers, each shard glinting in the winter sun before finding its mark and at the same rate and ferocity as Luffy's gatling. The air filled with the sound of shattering crystal and the cries of incapacitated foes.
The soldiers, caught off guard by the ferocity and speed of the attack, scrambled to regroup. Some raised their weapons, only to find them sliced in half by Luffy's rubber-enhanced kicks or shattered into glittering dust by Naruto's crystal projectiles. The battlefield became a chaotic mix of flying bodies, broken weapons, and shimmering crystal fragments.
As the battle raged on, the two captains seemed to be keeping a mental tally, their competitive spirit fuelling their actions. "That's 30 for me, Straw Hat!" Naruto called out with a grin, his crystal-covered fist sending another guard flying into a snowbank.
"Ha! I'm at 35!" Luffy retorted, his leg sweeping through a cluster of soldiers like a rubber whip, sending them tumbling like bowling pins.
Their rivalry drove them to greater heights, their movements becoming faster, their attacks more creative. Luffy used his Gomu Gomu no Balloon to inflate his body, deflecting a barrage of bullets with rubbery resilience. Meanwhile, Naruto created an intricate crystal shield, its facets refracting the sunlight as it protected them both from a thunderous cannon blast.
As the number of standing soldiers dwindled, Naruto and Luffy found themselves back-to-back, surrounded by the remaining guards. They shared a look of understanding, a silent communication passing between them. In perfect synchronization, they launched themselves into the air, soaring above the remaining soldiers. Before gravity could reclaim them, the captains began announcing their attacks, their voices ringing out across the mountaintop.
"Gomu Gomu no..." Luffy's voice carried a hint of excitement as he began rearing his arms far back behind him, his rubbery body stretching to its limits.
"Kesho Kesho no..." Naruto's tone was focused as a large indigo crystal shard began to form from his outstretched hand. It grew rapidly, easily the size of a small boat, transforming into a spear-like lance that began rotating with such speed it appeared as a blurring drill. The creator glanced at his creation, an idle thought crossing his mind. 'Can't make it too big, not trying to cause an avalanche.'
Everyone below was struck dumb at the size of the construct, its massive form casting a shadow over the battlefield.
Naruto created a small platform of crystal to kick off from, using it as a launchpad to drive the massive construct into the ground right on top of the group of remaining soldiers. The impact sent shockwaves through the snow-covered earth.
"Drilling Bazooka!" they shouted in unison. Luffy's stretched arms snapped forward with incredible force just as Naruto leapt away from his technique. The combined power of Luffy's bazooka and Naruto's drill created a devastating shockwave that shattered the crystal construct and sent men flying back down the mountain like ragdolls caught in a hurricane.
Naruto was smiling at the destruction, but his moment of triumph was short-lived. Within the swirling smoke, Luffy's arms shot out, grabbing hold of Naruto by his ankles. With a mischievous grin, Luffy yanked hard and began spinning around and around, their forms becoming a blur to the human eye. The world became a dizzying whirl of colours for both captains.
Just as the vertigo threatened to overwhelm them, Luffy released his grip. The centrifugal force launched Naruto outward like a human missile. With quick thinking, Naruto crystallised the ground he touched, maintaining his momentum. His body, now covered in razor-sharp crystals, became a deadly spinning projectile that bowled through the remaining soldiers, leaving a trail of cuts and unconscious bodies in his wake.
As the dust settled and the last echoes of battle faded, Naruto and Luffy stood amidst a sea of unconscious bodies. Both were breathing heavily, their clothes torn and dirty, but their faces wore triumphant grins that spoke of the thrill of victory and the joy of a challenge well met.
"51-49," Naruto said between breaths, his crystal armour receding back into his skin as he straightened up.
"No way, it was definitely 50-50," Luffy argued, his rubber limbs snapping back into place as he adjusted his hat.
Chopper stood there mouth a gape at the scene before him. 'Are humans strong?'
Recognising the look on the young doctor's face. "Luffy is a monster, and this new guy is one too. Monsters come in all shapes and sizes and those two definitely fit the bill wouldn't you agree."
"Wanna go for a tiebreaker?" Naruto challenged, a glint of excitement in his eyes as he gestured towards the shocked faces of Wapol, Chess, and Kuromarimo. His gaze lingered on the infuriated visage of Musshuru, sensing a more formidable opponent.
The mountaintop battlefield fell silent, save for the whistling of the cold wind. The defeated soldiers lay scattered across the snow, a testament to the incredible power of these two rookie captains. As Wapol and his remaining forces of three faced the grinning pirates, it was clear that the real battle was only just beginning.
The remaining four spread out amongst the clearing the archer stood before Chopper, Kuromarimo stood before Sanji, Musshuru stood before Naruto and Wapol before Luffy.
Chopper stood at the edge of the snow-covered clearing; his breath visible in the icy air. Across from him, Chess, with his tall, imposing figure and hunter's garb, notched an arrow in his bow, the string pulled taut and ready to release. The tension was palpable, and the silence was broken only by the soft rustling of the wind through the trees.
"Let's see how you handle this, reindeer!" Chess sneered, releasing the arrow with a sharp twang.
Chopper's eyes widened, but he was prepared. Quickly reaching into his satchel, he pulled out a small, yellow ball—the Rumble Ball. With a determined nod, he popped it into his mouth and swallowed.
Immediately, Chopper's body began to change. His frame bulked up, and in an instant, he transformed into his Heavy Point, a hulking form with immense strength. The arrow that was speeding towards him shattered harmlessly against his now thick, muscular hide.
Chess' eyes narrowed. "So, you've got some tricks up your sleeve, huh? Let's see how you handle this!"
He fired another volley of arrows, but Chopper was already on the move. With a roar, he shifted into Jumping Point, his body becoming more agile and lean. He leapt high into the air, somersaulting over the barrage of arrows, landing gracefully a few meters away.
"Not bad, reindeer. But can you keep up?" Chess taunted, rapidly firing more arrows.
Chopper's form shifted again, this time into Guard Point. His fur expanded, forming a massive, protective sphere around him. The arrows struck the dense fur but failed to penetrate, falling uselessly to the ground. From within his furry shield, Chopper's voice called out, "I won't let you harm my friends!"
Chess growled in frustration, switching tactics. He began to circle Chopper, looking for an opening. Chopper watched him closely, his eyes sharp and calculating. With another quick pop of a Rumble Ball, Chopper transformed into his Horn Point, his form becoming even more beast-like, with large, curved horns sprouting from his head.
Taking advantage of his new form, Chopper charged at Chess with incredible speed. Chess, caught off guard by the sudden burst of momentum, barely managed to dive out of the way. Chopper's horns gouged deep trenches into the snow where Chess had been standing.
"Impressive," Chess panted, getting back to his feet and readying another arrow. "But not enough!"
He fired again, but Chopper anticipated the move. In a fluid motion, Chopper shifted into Heavy Point, his body becoming larger and more muscular. He blocked the arrow with ease and closed the distance between them in the blink of an eye.
Chess attempted to draw his bow again, but Chopper was too fast. With a swift, powerful punch, "Heavy Gong!" Chopper shouted knocked the bow out of Chess's hands, shattering it and sending its remains flying into the snow. Chess stumbled back, reaching for a knife at his belt, but Chopper was relentless.
'One more time.' The human reindeer thought as he swung his natural dominant hand at the hunter. "Heavy GONG!" Chopper shouted as his fist connected with the body of the archer causing him to throw up blood and bile from the force as he sent straight towards a thick tree trunk where he shattered the bark with his back from the force.
The wind howled through the snow-covered landscape of Drum Island as Sanji faced off against Kuromarimo, Wapol's elite guard. The snowflakes danced around them, and the cold air bit at their skin, but neither combatant was fazed by the harsh conditions.
Kuromarimo, a hulking figure with dark, bristly hair resembling a giant hairball, sneered at Sanji. "You think you can take me on? You're just a pretty boy with fancy kicks!" the man snarled as he thought back to their last encounter when their captain threw their king in the sea a few days earlier.
Sanji lit a cigarette, taking a slow drag as he assessed his opponent. "You're about to find out that these 'fancy kicks' are a lot more than just for show."
With a swift motion, Sanji flicked the cigarette away, his eyes narrowing in focus. Kuromarimo charged forward, swinging his massive arms, each covered in a thick mat of hair, intending to pummel Sanji into the ground.
Sanji sidestepped the attack with grace, his movements fluid and precise. He retaliated with a quick, powerful kick aimed at Kuromarimo's side. The impact was solid, but Kuromarimo barely flinched, his dense muscle absorbing the blow.
"Nice try, pretty boy, but you'll have to do better than that!" Kuromarimo taunted, swinging his arm in a wide arc.
Sanji ducked under the attack and delivered a rapid series of kicks, each strike aimed at vital points on Kuromarimo's body. "Collier Shot!" he shouted, landing a powerful kick to Kuromarimo's neck. The force of the blow made Kuromarimo stagger back, momentarily dazed.
"You talk too much," Sanji said coolly, shifting into his battle stance.
Kuromarimo growled in anger, his eyes flashing with fury. He reached into his hair and pulled out a handful of sharp, dark bristles, flinging them at Sanji like darts. "Hair Spray!"
Sanji's eyes widened, but he reacted quickly, spinning on his heel and using his legs to deflect the incoming projectiles. The bristles flew past him, embedding themselves into the snow.
Sanji didn't give Kuromarimo a chance to launch another attack. He charged forward, leaping into the air and twisting his body mid-flight. "Concassé!" he cried out, bringing his heel down in a crushing axe kick aimed at Kuromarimo's head.
The kick connected with a resounding crack, and Kuromarimo was driven to his knees, clutching his head in pain. Sanji landed gracefully, already preparing for his next move.
"You might be tough, but you're no match for a chef from Baratie, let alone from the Straw Hats," Sanji declared, his voice filled with confidence.
Kuromarimo, struggling to his feet, glared at the teen "This isn't over, cook!" he roared, lunging forward in a last-ditch effort to take Sanji down.
Sanji was about to move but Kuromarimo's vision began to swim and before he could take another step he faces planted into the snow unconscious.
"Bon appétit," Sanji quipped, lighting another cigarette. He turned and walked away back towards his precious Nami.
Luffy stood firm, his straw hat casting a shadow over his determined eyes. Opposite him stood Wapol, the gluttonous king, with his rotund body and menacing sneer.
"Straw Hat Luffy!" Wapol bellowed, his voice echoing through the desolate landscape. "You dare to defy me? Yet again! I'll devour you whole!"
Luffy, unfazed by Wapol's threats, tightened his fists and took a step forward. "You made the people here suffer," he said, his voice steady. "I won't forgive you for that."
Wapol's laughter was a grotesque sound, full of malice. "You think you can stop me? I'm invincible!" With that, he opened his massive mouth wide, preparing to swallow Luffy in one gulp.
But Luffy was quicker. He leaped into the air, his body stretching impossibly as he shouted, "Gomu Gomu no Pistol!" His fist rocketed forward, slamming into Wapol's face with incredible force.
Wapol staggered back, clutching his face in pain. "You'll pay for that, you brat!" he roared. His body began to contort and shift as he activated his Baku Baku no Mi powers. Metal plates and cannons emerged from his body, transforming him into a grotesque amalgamation of man and machine.
"Take this!" Wapol shouted, firing a barrage of cannonballs at Luffy.
Luffy dodged and weaved through the onslaught with ease, his rubbery body allowing him to contort in ways that defied logic. "Gomu Gomu no Gatling!" he cried, unleashing a rapid series of punches that pummelled Wapol's metal body, each strike ringing out like a hammer on an anvil.
Wapol howled in fury, his metal limbs flailing wildly. "You're just a rubber boy! You can't beat me!"
Luffy landed on the ground, his eyes narrowing with determination. "I'll show you what a rubber can do!" He jumped high into the air, his body twisting and coiling as he prepared his next attack. "Gomu Gomu no Bazooka!" His hands shot forward, slamming into Wapol's chest with a thunderous impact.
The force of the blow sent Wapol flying backward, crashing into a snowbank with a resounding thud. The ground trembled from the impact, and for a moment, everything was still.
Wapol struggled to his feet, his body battered and dented. "This isn't over," he snarled, his voice a mix of anger and desperation. He opened his mouth wide, attempting to swallow Luffy whole once more.
But Luffy was ready. He stretched his arms back, his muscles tensing as he gathered all his strength. "Gomu Gomu no Rifle!" His arm twisted like a corkscrew, and with a powerful thrust, he drove his fist into Wapol's stomach.
The attack was devastating. Wapol's eyes bulged, and he let out a choked gasp as the air was knocked from his lungs. He collapsed to the ground, defeated, unable to muster the strength to stand.
Luffy landed softly in the snow, his expression one of quiet resolve. "This island doesn't need a king like you," he said, turning away from the fallen tyrant.
As the young captain turned, his eyes caught a glint off to the side. He squinted through the swirling snow and saw a giant crystal dome. It was made up of multiple hexagonal-shaped pink crystals, interlocked in place to create a unique and mesmerizing pattern. The dome shimmered under the weak sunlight, casting a faint, rosy glow over the snow-covered ground.
Luffy's curiosity was piqued. "What's that?" he muttered to himself, his usual carefree grin returning to his face. He bounded over to the structure, his feet barely making a sound as they hit the snow.
The closer he got, the more he could see the intricate details of the crystals. Each one was perfectly cut and fit together with a precision that seemed almost otherworldly. He placed a hand on one of the hexagons, feeling the cold, smooth surface under his fingertips.
Inside the dome, shadows shifted, hinting at something—or someone—within. Luffy's eyes widened with excitement. "What was his name again? Inumaki? He seems pretty strong reminds me of someone," he exclaimed, as he tried to peer into the dome.
Naruto faced down Musshuru, a man who stood in stark contrast to Wapol. Tall and slim, Musshuru's face contorted with a sneer of contempt, his pride wounded by the humiliation of his brother and soldiers at the hands of these upstart pirates.
"Time to take you arrogant brats down a peg!" Musshuru snarled, his voice dripping with venom. Without warning, he uttered a single word that seemed to ripple through the air. "Soru."
In an instant, Musshuru vanished from sight. Naruto, however, remained unimpressed, his ocean-blue eyes tracking the prince's movement with ease. 'Not fast enough, but an interesting technique,' he mused, a smirk playing on his lips.
Just as Musshuru materialized, his fist cocked back for a devastating blow, Naruto's leg shot out with lightning speed. The prince's eyes widened in shock as he tasted the sole of Naruto's winter boot. The impact sent him sprawling, tumbling across the snow before he managed to roll back to his feet, skidding to a halt.
"Try again," Naruto taunted, his voice laced with amusement. "Far too slow for me."
Musshuru spat out a bloodied tooth, his face contorted with rage. "Damn brat," he cursed, wiping his mouth. "Fine, try this on for size!" Purple dust began to emanate from his body, swirling ominously around him. "Spore Scatter Shot!"
Three cannon-sized orbs of mushroom spores erupted from Musshuru, hurtling towards Naruto with deadly intent. The young pirate quirked an eyebrow, not even bothering to tap into his Haki. With fluid grace, he ducked and weaved through the blasts, his movements a blur of speed and precision.
However, Musshuru wasn't done. He launched a blast towards Naruto's feet, causing an explosion of spores on impact. 'Too easy,' Naruto thought, his mind racing. In a split second, he created a crystal orb around the exploding spores, trapping and sealing away the threat.
As Naruto ducked under another spore bomb, he extended his arm, a razor-sharp crystal shard forming along his forearm. With a flick of his wrist, he launched it towards Musshuru, the projectile whistling through the air.
'Shit, that's fast!' Musshuru's eyes widened as he barely managed to dodge, leaping into the air. But his moment of relief was short-lived. In mid-air, he felt a vice-like grip on his ankles. The sudden stop rattled his brain, leaving him momentarily stunned. Looking down, he saw Naruto, grinning up at him with mischief in his eyes.
"This is where the fun begins, mushroom head," Naruto quipped, his voice filled with excitement. Without warning, he began to spin, mimicking Luffy's earlier move but with his own crystal twist.
Naruto crystallised the snow beneath his feet, creating a frictionless surface that allowed him to spin faster and faster. He became a human-sized top, with Musshuru as the unwilling passenger, screaming for mercy as the world became a dizzying blur.
At the apex of the spin, Naruto released his grip. Musshuru was sent flying, his stomach churning and his mind reeling from the vertigo. 'I must be seeing things,' he thought desperately, 'because he just threw me, how is he-'
His thoughts were cut short as he saw Naruto, impossibly, running alongside him in mid-air. Before Musshuru could process this feat, a crystalline fist smashed into his face with bone-crushing force.
Naruto didn't let up. With ruthless efficiency, he unleashed a devastating three-hit combo. Each strike sent Musshuru ricocheting from tree to snow mound, the impacts echoing across the mountainside. With the final blow, Naruto allowed gravity to reclaim its hold on the prince, watching as he plummeted to the ground.
As the snow settled around Musshuru's prone form, Naruto landed gracefully, his crystal armour receding. He stood over his fallen opponent, a mix of satisfaction and disappointment on his face. "Is that all you've got, 'Your Highness'?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Musshuru sat upright with a gasp, his lungs burning as if he'd just taken his first breath after drowning. His face was a bloody mess, body battered and bruised, a testament to the beating he'd endured. The older man struggled to his feet, muscles screaming in protest as he stumbled and fell to one knee.
"Fine," he snarled through gritted teeth, his head still ringing from the onslaught. "I'll do it like this then." His eyes narrowed with determination as he whispered, "Sora spore slide."
In an instant, Musshuru's form blurred, combining his Soru speed technique with his spore generation. He flickered around Naruto at a dizzying pace, leaving trails of purple spores in his wake. "You can't stop me now!" he crowed, voice echoing from multiple directions. "I'm five times faster than before!"
Naruto's ocean-blue eyes tracked the prince's movements, a hint of amusement in his gaze. 'Five times?' he thought, unimpressed. Aloud, he taunted, "You think that's going to help you?"
Without warning, Naruto clapped his palms together as if in prayer, his voice ringing out clear and confident. "Kesho Kesho no Hallowed Quartz Hall!"
The air around them shimmered, and hexagonal pink crystals materialized, linking and locking into place like a perfect jigsaw puzzle. Within seconds, a dome 20 meters in diameter encased both fighters, sealing off any chance of escape. The crystals gleamed in the weak sunlight, casting a rosy glow over the combatants.
Musshuru scoffed, his voice echoing within the confined space. "So what? You made a pretty dome." He appeared behind Naruto, leg raised for a vicious axe kick. But the young pirate was ready, flipping forward with fluid grace to evade the strike.
As Musshuru's foot crashed into the ground, Naruto leaned back, narrowly avoiding a spore bomb. The deadly projectile crystallized the moment it neared him, transforming into a glittering orb. With a twist of his hips, Naruto kicked the crystallized bomb back at twice its original speed. Musshuru's eyes widened as he barely managed to dodge at the last second, the orb shattering against the dome wall in a shower of crystal shards and inert spores.
Panting heavily, the prince appeared next to the dome's edge, his mind racing. 'I need an exit, and fast. He's too dangerous.' In desperation, Musshuru spun and lashed out with his legs, striking the crystal wall with all his might. A small chip appeared, but to his horror, it quickly reformed as if no damage had ever been done.
Naruto's laughter echoed through the dome, his voice dripping with mockery. "Didn't I tell you? There's no escape from here, tall and creepy." His eyes glinted with mischief as he continued, "Now, let me show you one more trick, since you're a guest in my domain." He emphasized the word 'guest' with a sardonic smirk.
Musshuru watched in disbelief as Naruto sauntered over to the nearest hexagonal crystal. With casual ease, the young pirate phased into it as if it were water, his image remaining within the reflective surface like a living mirror.
The prince's eyes darted frantically from crystal to crystal, trying to track Naruto's movements. Each facet of the dome held the pirate's reflection, grinning back with infuriating confidence. Musshuru realized with growing dread that he was trapped in a deadly hall of mirrors, with a predator who could strike from any direction.
As Naruto's laughter echoed from every surface, Musshuru thought desperately, 'Only one can be real!' But his realization came too late. In the blink of an eye, the prince found his entire view obscured by Naruto's knee. There wasn't even time for his eyes to widen before the collision connected with a sickening crunch.
Naruto felt the prince's nose cartilage snap under the force of his knee strike. Musshuru's head whipped backward, his body following helplessly, before crashing into the opposite end of the dome. He slumped to the ground, completely unconscious.
"Whelp, that was underwhelming," Naruto said, dismissing his technique. The dome shattered into a cascade of glittering shards and dust. "Frickin' dumbass playing pirates," he muttered, turning to find Luffy staring at him in awe.
"Oh, that?" Naruto grinned, assuming Luffy's curiosity. "I ate a Devil Fruit. Couldn't you tell? I'm a crystal man."
Luffy's eyes widened with excitement. "Oh! That makes more sense than you being rock candy, Inumaki!"
"Inumaki? Baka, my name is Uzumaki!" Naruto marched over, grabbing Luffy's cheeks and stretching them. "Say it with me: U-zu-ma-ki. Uzumaki Naruto!"
The two continued to bicker playfully, seemingly oblivious to the battle's aftermath. Sanji and Chopper approached, bemused by the scene, when Nami's voice called down from a window above.
"Gin's awake! You should come inside!"
Inside the castle, the atmosphere shifted from tense to celebratory. While the Straw Hats conversed with Dr Kureha and Chopper, Naruto found himself with Shinobu and a recovering Gin.
The Man-Demon looked significantly better, his breathing easier, though still far from full health. Naruto's genuine smile betrayed his relief.
"Told ya I'm a man of my word," Naruto bragged good-naturedly. "We said we'd get you fixed up."
Gin nodded, a hint of a smile on his usually stern face. "Guess I owe you a few, huh?"
"Duh! I am a pirate," Naruto teased, his eyes twinkling mischievously. "And I'm calling in that first favour. Join my crew as master gunner?"
Gin's eyebrows rose slightly. "You're putting me in charge of ammunition and cannons?"
"Yup."
"Just like that?"
"Just like that," Naruto confirmed with a smirk.
Shinobu, leaning against the wall, rolled her eyes. "I'm pretty sure this is a formality at this point."
"Fine, take my fun away," Gin chuckled, extending his hand to Naruto. They shook, sealing the deal.
As Shinobu left the room, Naruto following to give Gin some privacy, a sense of anticipation filled the air.
Unconscious and lifeless bodies were being unceremoniously dumped back onto their ship by the villagers, a grim testament to the battle that had just unfolded. As Luffy, Naruto, Nami, Chopper, Shinobu, and the newly healed Gin returned to the village, they were greeted by a scene of disrepair. Yet, amidst the chaos, the villagers and their crew worked together, disposing of their shared enemy.
"What happened here?" Nami asked, her voice laced with concern. Just then, she spotted a familiar shade of blue with a rifle holstered on her back. "Nojiko?"
Hearing her name, the bluenette turned, her eyes widening in surprise. Without hesitation, she lunged at her younger sister, sweeping her into a warm embrace.
While the siblings caught up, Naruto was greeted by Hanabi, who buzzed with excitement. "You okay, lil firecracker?" he asked, a playful grin on his face.
"Yup! Just blew some stuff up today, trying to calm my nerves a bit," Hanabi explained, her voice a mix of exhilaration and adrenaline. She knew her reliance on her Devil Fruit's nitroglycerin production often affected her mental state, leaving her feeling overly excited and sometimes reckless in battle.
"Hey, you did great, Hanabi! From the looks of it, there were barely any casualties on our side. Plus, Gin is better and officially joined the crew!" Naruto said, his tone proud.
Her eyes widened with excitement. "Party?"
"Oh, most definitely! We've rid this place of a tyrant, we've got a new crewmate, and the Straw Hats are here for the same reason. So yeah, let's party!"
Shinobu, eager to speak with Zoro but mindful of her first mate duties, interjected, "Nojiko, sorry to interrupt, but how long until the pose resets?"
Nojiko glanced at her wrist. "We should be set by tomorrow before we need to make the tide."
"Excellent! I've got a feeling we're going to be partying tonight!" Shinobu replied, her enthusiasm infectious.
"Oi, Straw Hat!" Naruto hollered, grabbing Luffy's attention. "You down for a party?"
Luffy's face broke into a wide grin. "Of course! I'm always down for a party!"
As the group shared their excitement, the atmosphere shifted from the aftermath of battle to one of camaraderie and celebration. The villagers, once weary and fearful, now buzzed with energy, ready to join in the festivities.
The cosy warmth of the Drum Island village hall contrasted sharply with the biting cold outside. The Straw Hat Pirates and Naruto's crew were gathered with the locals, celebrating their hard-earned victory over Wapol. The room buzzed with laughter and chatter, a lively atmosphere filling every corner.
Menchi stood proudly by the long banquet table, her masterpiece a steaming pot of savoury stew taking centre stage. The rich aroma wafted through the air, making mouths water and stomachs rumble. Villagers and pirates alike eagerly lined up for a taste, their anticipation evident.
Sanji, ever the ladies' man, flitted from one group of women to another, his charm on full display. "My dear, you have eyes that could rival the stars," he cooed, causing a few to giggle and blush, though some rolled their eyes at his relentless flirtations. Despite the mixed reactions, Sanji remained undeterred, his suave demeanour never faltering. 'Also, this stew is good, care and love went into this.' The chef in him noticed 'And what are some those spices very bold but just work.
Usopp stood on a chair, gesticulating wildly as he spun yet another tall tale. "And then, with a single shot, I took down a giant sea king!" he declared, his audience—comprised mostly of wide-eyed children—hanging on his every word. Some of the adults nearby chuckled, aware of Usopp's penchant for exaggeration.
Luffy was, unsurprisingly, at the heart of the feast, his mouth perpetually full. He devoured bowl after bowl of Menchi's stew, his appetite seemingly endless. "This is amazing!" he mumbled between bites, his eyes sparkling with delight. Gin was also at the table devouring the stew with almost equal gusto as the Straw Hat captain. 'Its been months but I can taste again, damn you Don Kreig,' Gin cursed as he praised Menchi's cooking.
Naruto sat at a table with Zoro and Shinobu, mugs of ale in hand. They laughed heartily, reminiscing about their past adventures and sharing stories of their journeys. Zoro he mentioned Mihawk and his encounter giving Shinobu plenty of warning. 'He basically saying to not hold back, he's too good for you hold back against.' Shinobu thought. The trio carried on drinking and enjoying the feast they were having.
Nojiko and Nami sat off to the side, their heads close together as they caught up. "I've missed you so much, sis," Nojiko said, her voice tinged with emotion. Nami nodded, a warm smile spreading across her face. "Me too. It's good to be feeling better."
Hanabi, meanwhile, had found a quiet corner with Vivi and Karoo. The trio chatted amiably, Karoo occasionally squawking in agreement. "So, what's it like traveling with these guys?" Hanabi asked, a hint of curiosity in her voice. Vivi laughed softly. "It's never boring, that's for sure," she replied, petting Karoo affectionately.
The celebration continued long into the night, the villagers and their saviours enjoying the camaraderie and the respite from the harsh realities of their world. As the fire crackled in the hearth and the snow continued to fall outside.
The End
A.N
So just realised as we get deeper into the story the word count for these chapters are going to be crazy long (like if I ever make it to wano and I have Naruto and crew involved do you realise how many fucking characters you need to juggle...)
Writing large casts is fucking hard how mfkers do harems and shit it boggle the mind.
ok gonna keep it short, we got the Hanafuda and his main crew introduced, Do we like the names introduced
match ups are mainly unconfirmed except for the Naruto and Shinobu opponents
Thoughts on the humour One Piece humour is hard to replicate ngl like there is a thin line between writing Luffy as a complete dumbass or a funny dumbass do you know what I mean.
thoughts on the action in my opinion none of the four should struggle with Wapol, or his brother who I gave soru as a speed technique
With Naruto's maturity, he hasn't been raised as a shinobi so he was allowed to grow at a more natural rate than a child weapon but he has sufffered enough to not be naive.
Do we like Naruto's abilities thus far btw he definitely has more in his arsenal but until we get to an actual challenge we wont them. (Imagine wasting an awakening on Wapol hell no.)
next chapter as we leave Drum its new arc time.
Anyways leave a review it fuels my engine of creation...
Stay Chilling Y'all
