Hey There,
Welcome all of you Quoganites! I know it's more like Friday instead of Thursday. By the time this is reaching you guys. But it's here! We did it! And while it is running a little late, I hope it's worth the wait! Following the usual pattern, this is a Quinn chapter. But not like the NORMAL set up, because this unexpectedly became what I like to call a 'swing-shifting' or 'flip-flopping' chapter. That while it is still MOSTLY Quinn… someone would not remain quiet and just let us do our work this week and this is the result of this (or HIS) interference. (You guessed it, Logan would not QUIT!) So I present to you, for your reading pleasures. The first swing-shifting chapter of this story and hope you enjoy it!
((AN: And for the record, YES, next week it'll be his turn again and I bet you a crabby patty I won't have to put up with ANY of this crap from Quinn!))

"How We Spent Our Summer Vacay!"
Chapter 15 - Deals and NOT Dreams!
((Quinn's Perspective))
So the next week went by very quickly as everyone found their groove. Helping out around the farm or my house. Here in Seattle, anyway.
In Hawaii Zoey and Chase became PROS at keeping everyone around their impressive stretch of beach happy. And the next few times we group-chatted with them. They'd both really found that rhythm. In fact, they were both SO good at it, that when we chatted with them. They had both just gotten promoted from 'Cabana Girl and Guy' to 'Event Staff.' Which wasn't just a pay upgrade, but since events happen EVERY day at their resort. It was a much more exciting and interesting job. When all of their creative energy was always getting put to good use as well. And Zoey's Uncles were absolutely thrilled with BOTH of our friends' work ethic.
They also shared pictures of both of them dressed in drag, for one of the events set to happen during the weekend… Just no way that wasn't entertaining! Zoey was a surprisingly convincing and pretty boy, but Chase, even getting help from professionals. Wasn't convinced he was a very pretty girl. Zoey had shared how hilarious it had been watching the pros all drop everything to help them both. It sounds like they've made a LOT of new friends and connections too. And they're stories only made ALL of us that much more anxious to get there and see everything for ourselves. It sounds like such a blast!
But with Mo joining us. In these group chats, and Skyped sessions. She kept hearing about this Hawaii trip, and never thought even once she was invited for it. She really thought that she had inconvenienced us enough, tagging along with Vince, Lola, Lydia and James. That she wouldn't be invited and didn't once try to push herself into it either. But Logan had explained to her. "Mo, we're not taking a commercial flight. We're using private planes, and ships, riding along with my Dad's movie casts and crew. If you wanna come along, all you gotta do is show up on the day and pack for two weeks of island time. And your set! We wouldn't tell you all about it like this if we weren't planning on bringing you with us."
Her crushing hug of appreciation had somehow fit ALL of us at once. All of us here in Seattle. And Mo had cried happy tears, just being included... she's really never had friends like us before. And it breaks my heart cause she's really great! And she has no idea her own worth because of the heartless men in her life! Why did Sockberger have to be such a prick? And why did her birth father have to be an even BIGGER and MEANER villain? She's so wonderful and I can't believe ANYONE could hurt her so much.
I just can't!
Over on the East Coast, Lisa was still having a total ball taking Michael to all of the best places around Memphis. But, Micheal shared, after Lisa went to check on her grandma. That he was worried… VERY worried. Because Memphis seemed to be teeming with guys. All age-appropriate who can't forget the lovely Lisa and are jockeying for positioning to take his place. If he messes up. Apparently every place they go, everywhere they stop or try to go out on a date… there's always at least one guy from Lisa's past who never even notices Michael's alive. They're all too busy getting their flirt on and letting Lisa know they haven't forgotten her. Or that they're still interested in her.
Serves him right if you ask me! After giving Lisa so much grief during their road trip. When just ONE of Michael's old flames had come back into the picture. But I bit my tongue, instead of bringing this up. They still have to go to Atlanta after this and more of Michael's old girlfriends could still show up and make even more drama happen.
Not to mention Logan and Lola had both been very vocal in my place about Michael's behavior. I didn't have to say a word. They both reminded him how stupid he'd been about his own old flame. And how that temptress nearly ruined EVERYTHING for their road trip. And they didn't leave a detail out either!
It was funny how MOST of that crowd, we had been chatting, with was now here with us. So we had to plan ahead more. We tried to pick out a space where the webcam could fit us all into the shot and we could still be heard when we spoke. And the microphone could pick us all up. When that proved to be impossible, we had to get everyone here to split up into groups and pairs. So it wasn't too much for any one point of wireless internet.
Stacey and Mark stayed up at Irvine's house using his house wi-fi, Lydia & James shared and so did Lola & Vince. They were using the wifi in the barn office area. Which is stronger than the house's router. Mo, Logan and me all walked back to my house. To use my houses' wi-fi.
But just to make it a little easier, Logan convinced me to share with him. Like Lydia was sharing with James and Lola was with Vince. He said, "It was so there was a better chance of not using up too much wi-fi." And I did see the logic in it… but honestly… I think he just wanted me sitting in his lap like the last group chat. Because I struggle to remember lots of the key points from those conversations. When anyone else brings them up... Logan had been that handsy during that group discussion.
We'd been sharing with the others, how Mo has been cooking for us all morning, afternoon, and night. And she was spectacular at it… I really had no idea she could do all of that. And I never saw her ONCE use a recipe book for any of it. She just went to town making everything from memory and scratch. Breads, cakes, pastries, pies, tarts, cassroles, soups, BETTER than restaurant food. My Aunt Azalea even came back early from checking on her coffee shop businesses that she owns (remember the coffee ban?). JUST to eat more of Mo's cooking, it's that impressive. Uncle Danny too, had to make a new notch in his belt. He'd been eating so much better since Mo got here.
Everybody fell in total love with helping out with the animals. Feeding them, brushing them, bathing them, playing with them, making sure they all got exercise. I don't think my uncle's regular staff has EVER had an easier time with any of that before.
But Stacey did have to end up giving up her duck and letting him be a permanent member of the farm. Which had been child's play adding another duck to the invoices for the farm. My uncle's ALWAYS prepared for more chickens, ducks, geese, and even a few turkeys. Because they all lay eggs don't they? But it had been very tough for Stacey to do, because all of her pets, every one of them had bit her and ran away before this duck. And he hadn't treated her bad once, but he had been dying just cause he was that lonely with no birds like him around… so he NEEDED to be around other ducks and she had to do what was best for him.
To his credit, Mavrick had helped her say goodbye, better than just anyone. But even Mark had tried to help more than I thought he would… After he'd been told, "get over there, and help." I think Lola even kicked him in his rear to get him to talk to her… but he did well when he finally approached her. He'd said the right thing for a change too, telling her how happy the little guy looked.
James and Lydia are SO much better off, now that they're both here. And thank goodness, all of their problems [that could have broken them up] seem naturally dissolved. Just getting out of James' family's home.
He'd really thought his parents cared so little for him, that his friends, and him could be safe there. He's still embarrassed that this wasn't the case but none of our friends hold any grudge against him. I think they all can understand a little bit of what he feels. After all, how else would we all end up here together like we did? If we didn't have similar problems fitting in at home?
But Vince got as addicted to helping with all the tough jobs, like Logan. And I'm almost afraid to say it, but I think… I really think they may have bonded… FINALLY. And James too had been trying to let that happen more. Bless him.
It didn't seem so very long before we were all packing up and preparing to move ourselves closer to 'Mystic Mountain.' And staying with Logan's grandparents, who were kind enough to allow us all to stay with them.
And yes, I made triple certain that they KNEW about this. That we really were welcome in their home and Logan's grandpa really was the MOST jazzed to meet me. How cute is he? And a fellow lover of all the sciences too. Can you believe that-
(Logan INTERRUPTS)
Whoa whoa WHOA!
HOLD UP!
Wait a minute here…
Uh, Babe?
That's how you're gonna cover the full second week of our stay in Seattle? An overview? Like this?
Mo cooked, Danny and Azalea ate, Lola acted more helpful than she was when she wasn't just riding horses all the time with that older lady wearing the cow-lady getup? Lydia entertained, James watched Lydia, Lydia watched James, and lots of mushy mush in between. Vince and me didn't kill each other and did a good job working together as a team? Like the old days, before he totally got a big head and became a bully… And Lola was mushier with Vince than Lydia was with James! Stacey gave up her duck, Maverick helped her, while Mark gave up Oreos… for a whole hour… maybe two.
That's it? Really?
Nothing else to mention, comes to mind?
((Quinn's Response))
Yes, really.
I thought it was a lot better to overview these things and NOT bore people to tears. If I went into every specific detail of the entire week… like we had to during our time apart or the week before the wedding… that would be like asking these poor readers to please enjoy this fresh paint as it dries. Or this conversation with a brick wall. This week wasn't half as eventful as last week. And it was smooth sailing most of the week. I'm celebrating that by simple acknowledgment, then jumping right to the good stuff… Like always, they know the drill.
And the chapter switch means that it's no longer your turn, I'll add. It's mine, so where's bad?
(Quinn Pensky(QP): I apologize, guys. He's never done this before… not like this… at least… He usually just argues with our authoress for ages… not me.)
(DarcyBeDippy85- This is true)
(Logan's Point)
Really?
Because while our readers may buy that…
May even appreciate it… Thinking you're doing them a BIG favor…
I get the vibe you're hiding something else that happened this week. Something I have been dying to read your take on and I'm a little shocked to read you skipping over it… almost specifically.
(Logan Reese(LR): Hang in there with me, guys. Just for a minute, trust me it's worth it.)
((Quinn's Confusion))
I simply don't follow you? What do you mean?
(QP: Why am I afraid to know? Is anyone else?)
(Writer: Me too!)
(Logan's Reminder)
Oh! Come ON!
You're telling me you don't remember anything else happening this past week. That this crowd wouldn't find… interesting? Nothing at all.
(LR: I know you guys can't see her right now. But I can and I can see it in her body language. She's SO holding out on all of us)
Nothing that happened was that important? Not even anything that just happened between you and me? None of those things either?
I want the record to state plainly, that she tried to distract me here. And it was a good try, but nope. I'm gonna need a little more from this 'overview' and you know what I'm talking about.
((Quinn STILL tries))
Wouldn't that story be better coming from you?
It's all about people that you know a lot better than I do.
(Logan Insists)
Nope. I want to hear your version of this tale.
((Quinn's Perspective))
Fine!
I'll bend and cave!
Because like we told our friends who aren't living with us right now. {Zoey, Chase, Michael, Lisa, and Dustin} This all really had the potential to go SO badly.
VERY badly!
But it all worked out to be a good thing in the end.
I even ended up glad things had happened the way that they did.
But last Thursday morning, when I had gone on an errand run. For some ingredients Mo needed for a soup she was letting cook ALL day long in a slow cooker. For that night's dinner, so she needed them early.
I went to jump on my uncle's motorcycle for this run. James had no idea any of his friends could ride like him. So he'd jumped on his cousin's (or adopted brother's… I still don't really know, even after hearing his whole story) borrowed bike. Claiming he could use the ride too. He also pointed out that the bags of ingredients might take up more room in my concealed storage space than I realized and his added space could come in handy.
Almost as soon as James and I, were outta sight. Vince had been looking over the lists of guests visiting the farm today. And noticed two of our guests had the last name 'Reese.' Just like Logan.
So Vince had asked Logan, "By any chance do you have anyone named Rowan or Lillian in your family?"
"Yeah, they're my grandparents." Logan had confirmed.
And almost as soon as Logan had answered this question. His grandparents were HERE. At my uncle's farm. I was still gone so I have no idea how all of that really happened. And I realize this part is all hearsay (which is why I was trying to let Logan tell this part). But apparently they were on the schedule for spending the entire day on the farm. And that was all of the warning Logan got before his grandfather's pick up was pulling up the guest entrance. (Which isn't the same as the gravel driveway connected to my house and Irvine's. The guest one's paved and has a micro-mini parking lot… this is a real business afterall.)
(Logan's Compromise)
Alright, alright. I'll tell some of this part.
But then you come back into the picture. It's all you from then on. And NOBODY else, (That's mainly for 'Darcy' the writer)!
No Vince, James, Zoey, Chase, no sneaking my grandparents point of views either! Just me and Quinn.
(Quinn)
Deal!
(writer 'Darcy': Deal!)
((Logan's Perspective))
I didn't know what to think, I'd just talked to my grandmother the night before. And she'd NEVER mentioned any of this to me. Neither had Pops (my grandpa), they both had been talking about a lot of other stuff. But never coming here! So when Vince told me they were both on the guest list, planning to stay all day and then my grandfather's pick up truck came in sight at the guest entrance…
I was shocked, but I think I recovered pretty quickly. And ran out to greet them. But it turns out that my grandma ALSO had no clue that they were coming here. My grandfather had lied and told her that they would be heading to a (gardening) nursery far away. That supposedly had some rare flower my grandma wanted to grow in her garden.
So while my grandma was happy to see me. And She'd hugged me, real tight. She was visibly 'miffed' at Pops for egging her on, like he had. But that's him, always surprising her and pulling fast ones like this.
He'd hugged me too and got right to business, letting me know. "We thought it'd be kinda nice to meet some of these friends before they're stuck with us old-timers. We know Chase and Michael well enough, but we've only heard about the rest of them."
But he'd pulled me aside and whispered. "Not to mention, I wanted to meet this Quinn girl on her turf. Before she's too intimidated by your grandmother. You know how overprotective she is, I figure it'll be better meeting her here and not at our place."
Pops was probably right about that. So I was already thanking him, but then I saw it for myself.
As Lydia showed up to be the tour guide right on time. I could see my grandmother already sizing her up and shaking her head. Decideing out loud, "Nope, not her."
I asked, "What do you mean 'Not her?'"
And Grandma said, "I mean, nope. That's not 'Quinn.' Am I wrong?"
And I let her know, "No, you're right. She's not 'Quinn' but that is Lydia-"
And my grandma cut me off asking, "The comedian girl who's been through SO much lately?"
Before I could even say 'yes' or 'no.' My grandma was going over and introducing herself to BOTH Lydia and Vince too.
Vince got a hug too, for trying to reason with her 'crazy' grandson when he'd ran into a burning building. And I realized that Pops is TOTALLY right. Quinn needs to meet my grandma on more mutual ground, before we're living there. We don't want another situation like James had. I'm not gonna EVER put Quinn in a place like that.
If my grandma made her feel anything like Lydia felt, in James' house. I wouldn't hesitate to leave either. I just really hoped it didn't come to that. Because even if my grandma seems tough, very strict, and even snobby sometimes. It's because she's HAD to be so strong, all her life… and she's overprotective of everything she loves. So all of that can make her seem mean… but she isn't.
I was gonna walk with them, but Vince convinced me. "Let this place work it's magic on them. Just like everyone else. Go on and cover for Quinn's place in the tour, so you'll see them by the time they get to the alpacas, llamas, sheep, and ram herd. I don't think she'll get back in time."
He was right, Quinn didn't get back in time. But the farm did work it's usual magic on BOTH my grandparents. LONG before they got to me again.
But my Pops totally shared that my grandma had cried like five times throughout the tour. In the best way, like more visitors. But she'd also never missed a beat as more of my friends showed up. Counting off that NONE of those girls were my Quinn. Isn't she something... we don't know what... but something.
Supposedly Lola wore too much makeup, Stacey was way too strange, Lydia was too loud, and Mo had even gotten the stamp of 'too strong.' My grandma had comically pointed out. "Logan would never date a girl who could so easily take him."
Which just goes to show she hasn't met Quinn. Who has taken me, LONG before we were dating. But Grandma just KNEW Quinn wasn't any of those girls. Before they even told her so.
But when Quinn did reappear, on a motorcycle, with the heavy helmet still covering her face. And bag of groceries under her arm. EVEN though she'd been walking with James, at the time. In nearly matching helmet and riding gear. Which could easily be confused for them being a couple! My grandma announced, "That's her!"
I hope I didn't give anything away when Pops asked her. "How do you know? You can't even see her face?"
She insisted, "Be-Cause I know my own grandson, and I bet you anything, that's his girlfriend. Girl on a motorcycle, with that figure... That's her!"
I tried to keep my face blank and tried not to even look over there. But you KNOW! That wasn't EASY! Then Otis made it impossible by escaping from the fence like a pro, and ran right to her. B-line! And she had to hand James her bag and take him back to the corral. And I saw Lola walking along with my baby, warning her on the way over to us...
Back to you, baby.
(Quinn's Perspective)
If only that had really been what Lola was doing on that walkover.
But no! One of our current guests, described to be a BEAUTIFUL older lady had made some comment about Lola 'wearing too much makeup.' and now she was caking on more JUST to spite her comments. Because somehow that made sense in her mind… somewhere.
So she was asking me a million and one questions, about her look. And asking if it still looked good. I told her, she should probably ask Lydia, before me. She knows more about that stuff than I would. But Lola had said, "No." Because apparently, the same lady had called Lydia "loud," Stacey "Strange" and Mo "Too Strong." And Lola agreed with all of these other assessments. Just not the one about her.
When Otis and me were about to walk out into the corral together. She said, very fast, "That's HER! That's the lady! Gorgeous, isn't she? Oh yeah, and heads up she's Logan's grandma." Then she gave me a push in there. I was glad I was still wearing my helmet with the face mask flipped down. Because my eyes just about popped outta my head.
Logan's grandparents are here? And Lola couldn't have led with that fact so I could freak out BEFORE I'm standing in front of them?
AHH! LOLA!
I'll have to get back at her for this later. But on top of trying to play it cool myself. I can tell my boyfriend is acting right now. As he tells his family about 'Shaggy' the llama and 'Freddie' the alpaca, as well as our alpaca families new additions and Maybelline. Probably trying to give me a chance here to not introduce myself, looking like a biker chick.
So I handed off Otis to Jose and was booking back to the house to change outta my riding gear. But just before I could leave the corral. I heard Lory, another one of our volunteers this summer. Yelling that something was wrong with one of our animals. And Jose caught me before I went over there to help. He told me, "I got this, go get changed chica and grab the Doc before she leaves for the day."
So I did as he asked and just did catch our vet before she finished her daily rounds. Dr. Rosette had been heading for her car. She told me to hurry back, she was gonna probably need me. So I made quick work of changing outta my riding clothes inside the house and making a run back to the corral in my plain clothes. James hot on my heels too help out anywhere he could.
The guests still touring had been taken into another fenced-in area, where our retired cows and horses roam. They were all hopefully preoccupied with our lovely older horses, and menopausal former milking cows to pay any attention to what was happening in this corral. And whatever was happening with our newer arrived ram who appeared to be in some sort of health crisis. He wasn't able to be moved from the area. So he was still laying where he'd landed. He was basically experiencing early stages of a heat stroke, because he hadn't been sheared in too long. Maybe all of it's life! His previous owner should be ashamed. So I was texting back and forth with our shearer getting her to rush a little more getting here. While Dr. Rosette was doing everything she could to cool him down fast. The Ram had only been with us a few days. Both of his horns had been treated yesterday. They too were signs of unbelievable neglect, twirling nearly poking him in the eye. Now today, the poor buddy was suffocating under all of his too much wool.
But our shearer arrived and made quick work of his case along with a few other new animals we've recently taken in. It's amazing how the second he was free of all of that wool… He popped right back up on his feet and looked like a different animal. No horns, no wool, and no problems!
Needless to say, I was so involved in all of this… I totally forgot about all of the worries I had been stressing over minutes ago. Until Logan's Grandparents were both coming towards me. And his grandpa had tried to clear the air. Saying, "Let me guess, you're that little lady 'Quinn' we've heard so much about, aren't you?"
I said, "Yep, that's me."
I hadn't been expecting a hug from the older gent, but he'd been so charming and kind. Telling me, "I think we would have known you anywhere. After the way our boys... our son and grandson have both had so much to say about you. All of it good too, which is no mean feat."
And his grandma took my hand and said, "Logan did his best to 'act' like you weren't the girl on the motorcycle ealrier. Or the girl helping the vet, just now. But even he can't act that well, and he couldn't take his eyes off of you. We're so pleased to finally meet you, dear."
I smiled, "And I'm pleased to meet both of you. Logan talks about you all the time, and I'm sorry I couldn't have come over and met you sooner-"
They were both waving this off, "You were needed elsewhere."
I ended up admitting "It's been a pretty crazy day around here so far."
His Grandfather concurred, "This place is truly amazing! I knew it would be!"
His grandmother too, said. "I've never known anything like it existed before today. With such a wide array of animals too. Livestock, with wild animals... who knew so many different animals would need saving and almost get forgotten about like this?"
And just as I was saying, how proud I am of my uncle's and aunt's work. Logan showed up and shot me a worried face before his grandparents spotted him.
His grandmother, noticed where I was looking and announced. "We already KNOW this is Quinn, so you can drop the bad acting now, young man." Then before he joined us, his grandmother pulled me a bit closer to ask, "Doesn't he look so much better with this hair cleaner cut too? He fought me on it, but I knew he needed just a little polish."
Logan complained, "GrandMA!"
"You look so much more like a nice young man this way… and less of a hoodlum too." She'd said while I'd tried not to laugh. Having seen Logan's messed up relationship with his birth mom. It was clear that Mrs. Reese had ended up having to be both grandma and mom to my boyfriend. And it was so nice to see him in that special kinda relationship with someone who obviously loved him SO much. FINALLY! But they were also hilariously similar.
Logan fired back, "If I'd looked so bad before, Quinn would have never started dating me-"
"Ahh, but if you had looked better maybe she wouldn't have kept it a secret either." Grandma won, because I laughed and so did Logan's grandpa.
Before I could catch myself and defend. "I didn't keep it a secret because of his hair cut, there was a lot more to it back then-"
Logan said, "Yeah! There was!" And when we locked eyes and he took my hand. He said, "Now all those reasons just seem stupid."
I pointed out, "Even with Lola still making gag noises everytime we're close to each other? or you take my hand?"
Logan had let me know, "ESPECIALLY then. I can't believe I used to care about that."
Logan's grandma waved off, "Oh don't worry about her. She's wearing enough product now to never be taken seriously. Just because I said she was wearing too much from the start. And she'd only needed a little over correcting at the time."
So his grandma had been perfectly aware of what she was doing. When she'd said that about Lola's appearance. She was trying to mess with her and it had worked. And for the second time today, I saw a lot of this ladies influence in her grandson. This was where Logan's conniving side was born and bred. Clearly! While his sense of humor was more like his grandpa's, that was where he got his mischievousness, just as clearly. I watched Logan and his grandpa elbowing each other when the rudest guest got spit on by Shaggy the Llama ruining their selfie with the animal.
There's no way they weren't family, and they were both as welcoming as Logan has said. His grandpa was pulling any of our gang along, making certain they were included. His grandma was giving Lola and anyone else who wanted to listen, beauty tips. Like a makeup tutorial, happening in our barn.
Logan's grandma asked about every flower and animal she saw. Quizzing me to see if I really was as bright as everyone says. Knowing this was a test made it so much more fun too. When I even gave her more answers than she'd asked for about each and everything… And I'd passed with flying colors.
It was on to the fun with Logan's grandpa. Who asked to be called Rowan. Talking shop about the sciences we find the most fascinating and that we have the most fun trying to hack or prove. As well as some of our best successes and blunders, it was so cool talking to someone else as dedicated to science. Who understood the constant tug of war between failures and wins! In any field!
And I know that sounds like I was in the hot seat. Talking to both of these elderly people, but it was all so much fun, I didn't feel that way at all.
SO much of my worries washed away. About going and staying with these people for the weeks we would be working on 'Mystic Mountain's nature trail and attending the weddings that Logan needed to go to.
When I called Logan's Grandma, 'Mrs. Reese.' She took me by my arm and said "Uh! Mrs. Reese was my cringe-worthy mother-in-law. And every time I hear that name, I looking over my shoulder for that old battleaxe's ghost. No dear, Call me Lillian or Lil, please. And I really want to thank you for letting us come here today."
"No, I wish I had been clever enough to plan ahead like this. Thank you for coming, I've been so worried about invading your home. In the coming weeks-"
Lillian told me softly, like she was sharing a secret. "I have too Quinn, but I have to admit. After coming here and seeing a little bit of where you've grown and dedicated so much of your time. I'm not as worried as I was. And I thank you for welcoming us and being such a positive influence on both my grandson and son. They both have had nothing but glowing things to say about you. Even Chauncy! And I'm starting to see why."
But that was the extent of my time with Ms. Lillian. Because after that, Logan's grandpa asked to see my lab. And when I warned him, it wasn't as grand as a world-class chemist like his must be. I even warned that I was only taking up a fraction of my Dad's garage. He'd told me, "That's exactly what I considered my first lab too. My mother swore I was to be nowhere inside of her house with my experiments. And my Lillian has had to declare the same! And since I am a chemist both women were particularly protective of their kitchens."
And I was bouncing in place. "Mine too! My mom wasn't even here very long for my uncle's wedding. And she was making SURE I hadn't ruined the kitchen while she's been gone."
So he'd walked back to my house with me, where we got so into discussing SO much. They ended up staying long after closing time and joining our gang for dinner. And got to experience Mo's cooking. Which earned her the right to use their kitchen whenever she wants while she's staying with them too. They didn't leave till long after dark and both were excited for us to join them in a few days time. They'd hugged all of us and promised to let Logan know when they got back home safely. (Cause it was dark and he was a little worried about them driving so far at night. He's so sweet.)
And that all happened on that one day last Thursday.
Now, back to where I was trying to start. Which is Sunday, when we left the farm and headed back for California-
((Logan's Pespective))
She's skipping again, so I'll share this one other thing. That occured between Thursday and Friday technically. Right after my grandparents left and confirmed they'd gotten home safe…
Before Quinn notices, (even though I really wanted to hear her take on this too).
But when we went back to her house, that night. Both of us went sleep right away. And THANKFULLY so did everyone else staying there, in the house with us… because, if a single one of them had been awake. Or stirring around, we would never hear the end of it.
I guess we'd both just conked out early, because we had been that exhausted. But right around 3 am, I woke back up and so did Quinn. And somehow, we'd gotten so completely wrapped up in each other that we totally forgot we had a house full of friends surrounding us. And I'd started teasing her and making out with her. Which had led to her teasing back and dishing out better than she got… Which led to me totally losing my MIND and we'd gotten to be together again. In that still new way… That I've only ever shared with her...
And this time had been even better than the others. We'd been so happy together, it had all happened so naturally. I really thought I was dreaming. Till I woke up again to nothing between us, at all. And WAY too happy about it.
I blame it on how easily Quinn had won over some of my closest family. I'd heard her say too many good things about me. Throughout the day, and all of it had just been building up inside of me, like a volcano.
Quinn later said, that she too had felt the same. But that didn't stop her from being totally freaked out when she realized she hadn't been dreaming. (Seriously, these dreams she keeps hinting at? What is she seeing? WHY is she holding out on me? They sound AWESOME!) But she was so panicked about ANYONE hearing us, that she scared me. I was afraid she'd regretted it, what we did.
And she'd had to explain, "No, I don't regret it and I'm so glad we got to be together again... I am... but I just can't believe we forgot about a house full of people who could walk in or hear us any minute. And KNOW what's going on."
But even as all of our friends talked about how well they'd all slept that Thursday leading into Friday. Quinn had been a very noticeably blushing, flustered mess, long after everyone else had moved on, and started starting their days. But thankfully I was the only one to notice and it was hard not to laugh. GOD! She's adorable and HOT too!
Is it terrible that I enjoyed every second of that time? Every second we'd stolen together, as WELL as every second she was worried about one or all of our friends saying they heard us? I have a feeling that's terrible, but I can't pretend it wasn't the funniest thing to happen all week long. And I'll never regret ANY moment like that with her. I can't!
I don't know how things like that will be at my grandparents house… I've never had to worry about sneaking these kinds of moments with anyone else. So I don't know how things will go, till we're there and I find out just how close my grandma's gonna be watching over us. I know Pops wouldn't be the one to worry about, because Grandma is! And Pops' is still too psyched about playing in his lab with my girlfriend.
But grandma... I may need to still plan out some sneak offs and trips to our beach. I'm ADDICTED to stealing these moments with her now. And there's no way i can quit now.
Oh Good! She hasn't noticed! Back to her side of the story!
(Quinn's Perspective)
Sunday was surprisingly a little tough on everybody. Not only had it been incredibly hard on me. Cause this place is my home and I was gonna miss so many people and animals I'd just gotten used to seeing everyday again. But I promised Otis I would be back before he even had a chance to miss me. And he had his mate and two baby girls to keep him occupied, but I had still cried like I always do.
And I was still all weepy saying 'bye for now.' to the rest of the animals after that.
Logan had never seen me have to do this before. And got all worried when he saw tears. He'd picked me up and just held me a long moment hugging me tight. Saying, "It's okay... What's wrong?"
I'd had to explain. I cry every time I have to say 'bye' to Otis. Even after seeing him happier than EVER before. Because he's just my baby, probably more than any other animal I've bonded with or cared for. Otis brought me a tissue box, like always, practically telling me to "stop crying." But I just can't help it, it's never easy letting go of Otis. And now that his family has grown, it's even tougher. Velma and Daphne were trying to eat the tissues outta my pockets. Daphne and Maybelline were both following around Logan around the rest of the time he was in their area adorably. Shaggy had shoved in front of them and gave Logan a cuddle too. Like he knew we were leaving.
Lola had been kissing and spoiling all of the horses with apples. Lydia had spent the longest time baby talking all of the pigs, hippos and giraffes. James had been saying bye to the giraffes too, he'd even bonded with the super protective mother giraffe. Mark had patted the rhino he'd bonded with farewell. Vince again was hanging with the blind cows he'd bonded with. And even he had gotten a little misty-eyed saying goodbye to those sweet ol' girls. Promising to never forget them, for changing his life, and promising to come back soon too. Stacey spent the last of her time sitting and watching her duck play with his friends. She knew which one was him too. Cause he always greeted her with a lot of chattered "Quacks!" Like he was actually trying to talk to her and she'd been feeding him his favorite treat one last time. Mark had done a good job holding her hand through that.
Mo had made sure to show Azalea and the staff cook. All of the soups and other leftovers she'd made for the staff to enjoy for a good while after we're gone. Then rushed out to say bye to all of her animal friends. I've never seen so many of my friends taking so many selfies with our animals before. But it had warmed my heart to see them all cherishing the true magic of this place as much as I always try to.
Then it was time to pack up and hit the road. Mark insisted on taking Stacey in his car, I hoped it was to have more quality time with her. But he acted like this idea never occurred to him when I said it. I really hope they don't fight the whole way to Pasadena.
James had to drive his adopted brother's / cousin's motorcycle. I lint Lydia my riding clothes and boots for the ride. Having to explain, it wasn't just a coat. It was more for protection against bugs, smog, weather and other things she could encounter riding in the air on an open road like that. She also borrowed my helmet too. But all of it luckily fit her well and she was totally psyched to get going.
Vince and Lola rode with Mo in her car, I had been thinking this whole time it had been Vince's car. But it was Mo's, and She'd taken some of Lydia's and James' stuff in her trunk. They offered me the open seat with them. But I knew, if I didn't ride with my boyfriend in his car that only seated two. There would be no living with him. And unlike Mark, he was so ADORABLY excited for the quality time of a road trip.
But he reminded me of the plug-in apps I'd designed for my Uncle's truck. So I grabbed a few to hook up to all of our party's radios. So if we needed to talk to each other we could. In case anyone needed to stop at a rest area or pull off for food during the trip. Once all of these attachments were hooked up, and synced up. We were saying goodbye to the all of the humans we would miss so much.
My Uncle Danny, Aunt Azalea, Maverick, Jose and so many others had dropped everything to see us off. And Maverick made Stacey PROMISE to keep in touch as pen pals and call each other every now and again. They'd gotten that close, I think my tough cousin was even a little misty-eyed saying bye to her… It was so sweet.
Then we were on the road and Logan kept saying this trip went by too fast. Compared to the solo trip he'd driven following my uncle to get here. We talked about everything and anything. Logan kept pointing out cars he liked, the whole way. And instead of rolling my eyes at him. I started asking him why, and his answers were always interesting. It turns out he really does know a LOT about cars. Why they're so fast, loud, how their engines are modified, or what colors are the rarest, and why. Sometimes his answers were "Because I drove one on my Dad's set and it just handled so well."
I kept noticing cloud shapes, cool trees, and reading the signs. PLUS, he let me run the playlist of music we were listening too. We found out that we listen to a lot of the same stuff too.
Logan said a couple of times, "How could Michael and Lisa fight so much? This is a blast! And even though we've traveled together a lot. We've never done it like this before."
I tried to point out, "Well we're only sitting through hours of travel time and they had to travel for DAYS too."
"Yeah," He agreed, but he still shook his head and said. "Still I'm wishing we weren't getting so close so fast. I'm having that much fun."
And I'd smiled, "I'm really glad." While he'd taken my hand and pulled it to his mouth to plant a kiss on the top of it.
I hoped the others' travels were going this well. As we got closer to our destination. I also hoped that our times in Pasadena would really go well, for all of us. That Logan's grandparents wouldn't totally regret letting all of us stay with them for these few weeks in July. Or allowing me to join them when they have to attend so many weddings either. I really hoped for more good times shared, because our times at home and on Irvine's farm had been like a dream, and I only hoped we could keep having such good times together.
That's All Folks!
