Welcome back to Elemental Crisis Book II. Last time, just as Joker was about to shoot Cynder in the head with a gag spear gun, Batwoman realized exactly what was holding her back earlier. She was afraid of failing Kate Kane's legacy. But in that moment, she steeled herself, swearing on her life she has not failed, nor will she. And in that moment, Batwoman fully mastered the Element of Shadow, using it to escape through a small crack in her icy confines before challenging Joker to a final dance in the pale moonlight. But thankfully, she won't have to fight alone. There's more heroes on the way. How're they faring? Read on to discover...
(Our scene opens up outside the warehouse Joker's been using as her headquarters, just before the previous scene takes place, picking up with Virgil Getty and Mad Hatter as they drag Renee Montoya to her execution, stopping just at the edge of the pier)
Virgil Getty: Well, Detective, it's been fun.
Renee Montoya: Don't give me that bullshit. You're enjoying this.
Mad Hatter: We better just dispose of her, Virgil. I don't want the boss on our tails for this.
Virgil Getty: Agreed. Now how do we want to go about it? Apply additional ice weight and dump her?
Mad Hatter: Why do that? I can just tell her to swim down.
Renee Montoya: (Thinking back on why she did this) Whatever you decide to do, just do it already. (To herself) I'll see you in The Green, Pam...
Virgil Getty: You're really taking the fun out of this, Detective.
Mad Hatter: We don't have time to waste! (Grabs Renee Montoya and makes her face him) Walk off this pier, and swim down.
(With that, the hat activates again and, compelled to obey, Renee Montoya starts shifting backwards towards the edge of the pier, but just as she's about to hit the water, a shadow swoops down and grabs her up. The two rogues look up only to see Spyro is now holding Renee Montoya up)
Spyro: Did you really think it would be that easy?
Mad Hatter: (Trying to use the hat) Drop her!
(But before the hat can take effect on Spyro, a fireball flies out of the background and knocks it off of Mad Hatter's head before a bolt of lightning runs in to grab the hat from him, revealing Flash has entered the game as well)
Flash: (Looks the hat over) Hope they don't mind that this trophy's a little singed.
(And as that remark is made, the Waverider flies into the scene, revealing the rest of the League and their allies have arrived, with Batwing dropping down in front of the bunch, doing a full on Iron Man landing, earning a wince of pain from Superman in the background)
Superman: (Knowing full well the pain that landing causes) Luke's legs are going to sting in the morning.
Batwing: (Getting to his feet, and feeling the pain instantly) Forget the morning, Supes!
Spyro: (Flying down with Renee Montoya) Your little game ends here. Surrender now or we'll be forced to get rough with you.
(Mad Hatter raises his hands in surrender already, realizing that without the hat, he's useless. And Virgil Getty, he's disgusted at this immediate display of surrender.)
Virgil Getty: You are pathetic, you know that? (Readies his liquid nitrogen) Looks like I'm fighting alone then!
(Virgil Getty immediately aims his liquid nitrogen blast at Flash, who chucks Mad Hatter's hat aside and fights it off with a stream of Fire, soon joined by Superman and Supergirl's Heat Vision to further counter the cold. And after a few moments, the blast is completely overwhelmed and Virgil Getty is knocked over.)
Virgil Getty: (Realizing the liquid nitrogen has been bested.) Impossible!
Supergirl: Neat trick, too bad it didn't work.
(Clearly enraged and having not learned his lesson, Virgil Getty scrambles back for the liquid nitrogen, only for Batwing to pick it up and chuck it back, with Superman catching it)
Batwing: Where's the Joker?
Virgil Getty: Like hell I'm telling you!
Renee Montoya: Inside the warehouse. Batwoman and Cynder are with her. She's going to kill them, you've got to hurry!
Spyro: Thanks, Detective.
Batwing: Give me a moment to lock on to them.
(Inside the suit, Batwing is using it's connection to the Batcomputer to get a bead on Batwoman's location, and soon enough, he has it.)
Batwing: Got them!
White Canary: Send me the coordinates, we're going in.
Batwing: I'll lead air support.
(And with that, Batwing takes to the skies via the propulsion system of his suit, with Spyro, Superman, Supergirl, Martian Manhunter and the Waverider not far behid him, meanwhile Flash and White Canary get the location as sent by Batwing and head in on foot via the front of the warehouse as our scene ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to end for now. Only two chapters remain until the end of Chapter II. So, Mad Hatter and Virgil Getty went down pretty easily, now only Joker remains. And next time, that brawl finally ends. So, who emerges victorious from this dance with the devil in the pale moonlight? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
