Chapter 31: It's Time to Put an End to This - Part Three
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!
A/N: I know, I know, a few chapters ago I said that this story had only a few chapters left, however, I didn't think this fight would've lasted this long. There is one more part before this fight is over, then I have a few more lose ends to tie up before this story ends. I do hope you all are still enjoying this story!
P.S. I'm sorry that I am updating late!
Inuyasha and his team made it to the backyard and to the back door, Inuyasha slowly opened the door and peeked his head in. He saw the back door opened to the kitchen, which thankfully was empty, signaling to the others that the coast was clear before going in and creeping to the adjacent wall and peeking into the next room. Seeing this room was empty as well, he looked back at his team.
"Okay, the coast is clear. Kagome said that Naraku's office was at the end of the hallway that's connected to the living room. Let's go but keep quiet and stay close together, we want to keep the element of surprise on our side." Inuyasha said before sneaking out into the living room and crept down the hallway with the other two following close behind.
"I'm sorry," a female voice sounded behind them making them stop and turn around to face the woman, "Naraku is very busy at the moment and isn't taking any walk-ins!" She said as she took a pink and white fan she held in her hand and sent white blades of wind towards them.
Jumping out of the way of the wind, Inuyasha heard as Miroku grunted in pain and looked back to see that he had been hit on the arm by the wind sorceress. Growling, he turned back to face the woman and whipped out his gun and pointed it at the woman before shooting.
Kagura smirked as she opened her fan before jerking her hand up making a wall of wind before sending the wind out, redirecting the bullet back at the sender.
Inuyasha gasped in surprise as he watched the bullet coming back at him before jumping out of the way, however, he didn't jump high enough, and the bullet pierced his leg making him growl in pain when he landed. "Damn it!" He snarled before having to force his legs to jump out of the way of another blades of wind attack.
Toga quickly stepped forward and pushed Inuyasha behind him before taking out Tessaiga, transforming it into the mighty fang. "Wind scar!" Toga shouted as he swung his sword and watched as several lines of yellow energy made their way to the wind demon.
"You fool," Kagura snarled as she swung her fan and effectively dismissed the wind scar with a flick of her wrist, "I control the wind! You think an attack that has wind literally right in the name would affect me!?"
"Wind scar!" Toga shouted once again, sending another wind scar at the woman and watching as she once again waved the wind scar away.
"Are you daft!?" Kagura yelled as she raised her fan over her head. "Didn't you hear me when I said that the wind scar won't work on me!?"
'It doesn't have to work; it just has to get you angry enough to send another attack out.' Toga thought to himself.
"I'm tired of your games, die!" Kagura yelled before swinging down her fan. "Dance of the dragon!" She yelled and watched as multiple twisters twisted down the hall. Smirking as she thought she had won the battle.
"That's it!" Toga exclaimed as he raised Tessaiga over his head before swinging it down. "Backlash wave!"
"What!?" Kagura shouted in shock as she watched her dance of the dragon change courses, heading straight for her instead of the intended targets.
Inuyasha and Miroku watched in shock as the twisters that were once heading for them just a few seconds ago were now headed straight for Kagura before hitting her and causing her to scream out in pain. As the twisters dissipated, leaving Kagura's lifeless body in their wake.
Toga took back his demonic power back from the sword turning it back in its small rusty form before he placed it back in his sheath. "Let's go get this over with." He said, snapping both Inuyasha and Miroku out of their shock at what just happened and the sheer power of Toga's Tessaiga, as he turned around - heading towards Naraku's office.
Inuyasha made his way in front of his father before kicking the door down in one swift motion, ignoring the pain that shot through his leg, and stepped in the room with the other two close behind him.
"I thought I heard ruckus out there." Naraku said as he stood up and walked around his desk to stand in front of it and looked at the intruders that invaded his office. "I see that Kagura failed in her mission of taking you out."
Inuyasha growled as his grip tightened on his pistol as he thought about all the things he's done to Kagome.
"Okay," Dr. Aikawa said as she finished jotting down notes, "now, can you tell me what happened?"
He remembered as he felt as Kagome tensed up, he placed his hands on her shoulders before gently rubbing his hands up and down her arms as he whispered encouragements in her ear.
"They had me chained up in a dark basement in a way that I was raised off the ground, I couldn't touch the floor." Kagome began as she felt herself start to relax to his touch. "I remember trying to stay calm as I also tried to get free from the chains. But no matter how hard I tried, the panic made its way into my heart, and I struggled harder against the chains until I felt something warm drip down my arms."
The hand holding the pistol twitched, 'how dare they make her bleed' he thought as all the murderous intention showed very clearly on his face.
Kikyo tried to force me to sign divorce papers, however, when I'm pissed, I'm petty and sarcastic, so I asked her how am I supposed to sign them when my hands were chained then I called her a dumb bitch." He remembered snorting as he tried as hard as he could not to laugh. "She got mad and slapped me making my tooth nick my lip causing it bleed. I then threatened her saying that she better hope that either I didn't get free, or Phantom didn't find out where I was because either option didn't bode well for her. I then called them both weak and cowards for having to cause an explosion just to be able to kidnap me, Naraku didn't like that very much because he punched me in the stomach saying that if anyone was going to die it'd be me if I didn't watch my mouth." He tensed prompting her to lean more into his embrace and kiss the bend of his wrist making him relax some.
He growled as he raised his gun up and pointed right at Naraku's head, his hand shook at the sheer fury that ran through his veins.
What happened next, I don't know if my mind was beginning to snap into insanity or trying to protect my sanity because Phantom was there with me asking me if I was okay. I thought he was really there so I said that I couldn't feel my arms and asked if he'd get me down, he apologized and disappeared. I remember saying that I was going crazy which the image of Phantom came back with a chuckle saying that I'd had have been crazy from day one when I agreed to stay with him even after finding out what he did for a living. He stayed with me and talked with me until my mother came down the stairs." She said as she tensed, he could feel the anger seep out of her skin at the mention of her mother, he tightened his hold on her offering what comfort he could give her.
"What happened with you mother?" Dr. Aikawa asked when Kagome didn't continue on with what happened to her.
Kagome took a shaky breath. "I asked her to help me, but she said she wouldn't, so I asked why, and she said that I was in the way of Kikyo marrying Phantom. She then blamed me for her business going down, I told her that she was the cause of her business going down because she didn't uphold her end of the deal when I did. She got mad and took out a gun before pointing it at me and demanded that I signed the divorce papers. She then said that if I didn't sign them then I'd die because people who get in her way die just like my father did." She said as tears started to fall out of her eyes. "The basement door opened again," Kagome said in a whisper as more tears came running down her face, "Kikyo and who I thought was Phantom came through the door."
The growl that came out of his throat this time was purely savage as his eyes twinged with red and purple stripes started to form on his cheeks. "How dare you." He growled out.
"My whole world was shattered, my son was missing, I was in pain and the man I loved was in front of me with his arm around another woman saying that he never even wanted to be with me. I couldn't take it anymore, so I agreed to sign the papers just so they'd leave me alone and give Hiro back to me. They released me and I fell to the ground screaming in pain as my arms were finally freed. I signed the papers, and the imposter called me a good girl, which Phantom does call me but this time instead of appreciation, all I felt was disgust at the words. Then my mother shot me in the stomach and that's all I remember, the next thing I knew is I woke up in the hospital."
Another terrifying snarl left his chest as his eyes bled completely red with topaz for his irises, his fangs and claws elongated. How dare he call his wife a good girl? How dare he make her question his love for her!? How dare he lay his disgusting finger on her!? He remembered wanting to tear down the entire city to find him and end his life right then and there but knew that he needed to be there for Kagome. But now? Now, he was face to face with the fucker that caused so much pain to his love - even before they had even met - and he was not about to let him walk out of this office alive.
*X*
Sango opened her eyes, she was still tangled up in the vines, though, once she opened her eyes the vines feel away from her body. She reached a hand up to wipe under her eye before pulling back and seeing red painted on her fingers. 'Blood? These vines somehow reached deep inside my mind and found that small wish to see what my life would've been like were that accident didn't happen. How did they create a dream of a life that will never be? Of a life that I no longer desperately wish for. How did they make me cry blood?' She questioned to herself as she stared at her fingers in shock. 'Kagome said something about a dream maker, but how did he-' a gasp escaped past her lips as she jerked her head to the side and saw her sister-in-law still trapped in her dream. "Kagome!" She gasped again before making her way to stand in front of Kagome before placing her hands on her shoulders and gently shaking her.
"Kagome," Sango shouted as she shook the young woman that was still sleeping and crying blood, "please wake up! It's not real! Whatever you're seeing, it's not real!"
"It's no use," a male's voice rang in the air, "she can't hear or feel you. She won't wake up and will become the most delicious fertilizer that my flowers and I have ever tasted! So much sadness! So much trauma! So very delicious!" Byakuya's voice rang out excitedly. "I can't wait to taste her!"
Sango jerked her body around to face the direction the voice came from and saw Sesshomaru and Izayoi also looking around for him. "Hey, what's going on?" Sango asked as she jogged her way over to her brother and her mother.
"Oh, Sango dear, I'm so glad you're okay." Izayoi said as she smoothed down Sango's hair.
"Yeah, but Kagome is still trapped." Sango said as she looked back at the girl still wrapped up in the dream creating vines. "We need to hurry up and end this before it's too late."
"Only problem is we can't find the bastard." Sesshomaru growled as he continued to search around for the man.
"You want to find me?" The voice taunted coming from a different direction then before. "I'm afraid it won't be that easy."
"Can't you smell him?" Sango asked looking at Sesshomaru.
"Yeah, I could if these damn flowers didn't overpower every scent around here." Sesshomaru said coldly with narrowed eyes as he continued to survey the area. "I can't smell a damn thing past their infuriating scent!"
Sango sighed as she looked back at Kagome and noticed that the blood coming out of her eyes were getting worse. "We have to do something fast; Kagome isn't going to last much longer." She said before coming up with an idea. She grabbed her father's sword and ran towards Kagome before swinging at the vines, however, what she didn't know was the vines had a barrier around them so when the blade connected with the barrier - the barrier deflected the sword and threw her backwards.
"Nice try, but that won't work." Byakuya's voice sang out. "Tick-tock, her time is running out. You'll have to find me and kill me if you want to save her."
"What do we do?" Sango asked as she got to her feet and frantically looked around for any sight of the demon that was doing this. "How do we find him!?" Just as she said that she saw something shimmer off the side of them, it was a barrier. "There!" She said as she pointed towards the shimmering barrier. "There's a barrier! I bet he's in there!"
Sesshomaru looked behind him where Songo was pointing and to saw the shimmer and a relieved sigh past by his lips. It was about time; all these flowers were really starting to mess with his sinuses. He raised up his hand before whipping out his poison whip and whipping the barrier a few times.
As the barrier fell, the group saw a man with long black hair that he kept up in a high ponytail, dark eyes and pale skin - standing in the center of the now destroyed barrier. He stood there staring at the group shocked as to how he's been found and his barrier destroyed.
"How-" Byakuya started to ask, however, before he could finish asked his question - Toga unleashed a wind scar, ending Byakuya's life right where he stood.
Sango turned around to face Kagome just in time to watch all the flowers die and the vines that trapped Kagome disintegrate off of Kagome's body. She watched as the young woman's eyes opened wide as a gasp left her lips as she fell to her hands and knees gasping for breath. "Kagome!" She called out in relief as both she and Izayoi ran the short distance to where she was kneeling on the ground, before they both fell to their own knees in front of the young woman and Sango gripped her shoulders. "Kagome, are you alright!?"
"Huh?" Kagome asked disoriented as she continued breathing loudly as tears continued to run down her face. "Um, what?"
"Are you okay?" Izayoi repeated as she cupped Kagome's face in her hands.
"Oh, um, yeah, I'm okay. I, um, just had a weird dream." Kagome said as her breathing evened out and she regained her bearings. "I, uh-" she started to say, however, before she could finish her sentence, they heard the back door opening and closing again.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter! Until next time, bye!
