Republic City - II

Later that evening at Air Temple Island, Ash was enjoying dinner with Korra and Tenzin's family. The dining area was lively, filled with conversation and laughter. Korra and Tenzin engaged in small talk, often discussing Korra's reckless behavior and her plans for Airbending training. Ash, too busy marveling at the unique Airbending cuisine, didn't pay much attention to their conversation.

Tenzin's young son, Meelo, couldn't contain his curiosity and asked Ash, "Hey, are you a bender or a non-bender?"

Ash paused, unsure how to explain his abilities. He decided to keep it simple. "I'm just me," he replied with a shrug and a smile, which only seemed to intrigue Meelo more.

Meanwhile, Tenzin's daughters, Jinora and Ikki, scooted closer to Korra, their eyes gleaming with mischief. "So, Korra," Jinora began in a whisper, "is Ash your boyfriend?"

Korra's cheeks flushed a deep red as she glared at the two teasing girls. "Mind your own business," she hissed, trying to maintain her composure.

This only encouraged the girls to tease her more, giggling and exchanging knowing glances. Korra's growing annoyance drew a chuckle from Tenzin's wife, Pema, who couldn't resist joining in on the teasing. "They just want to know if you and Ash are close friends," Pema said with a playful smile.

Korra stood up, her face bright red, and shouted angrily, "He's not my boyfriend!"

The outburst led to an awkward silence. Everyone, including Ash, stared at Korra in surprise. Realizing she had overreacted, Korra cleared her throat and tried to regain her composure. "I mean... I think I'll call it a night," she mumbled, excusing herself from the table.

Ash watched her go, a puzzled expression on his face. He turned to the kids, who were still chuckling. "What was that all about?"

"Oh, nothing," Jinora said with a giggle. "Korra just gets embarrassed easily."

"Yeah," Ikki added with a grin, "she'll be fine by morning."

Ash chuckled along with them, shaking his head. "Well, it's definitely not boring around here," he remarked, enjoying the light-hearted atmosphere despite the earlier tension.

Moments later...

Ash stood and stretched, letting out a satisfying groan. His stomach was full, and he was about to leave and thank Tenzin and his family for the wonderful meal when the Airbending Master spoke up.

"Ash, why don't you stay the night?" Tenzin offered with a warm smile. "It's late, and you must be tired from your travels."

At first, Ash hesitated. He didn't want to intrude any further, especially after the chaos of the day. "Oh, I don't want to impose..."

But Tenzin's children quickly chimed in. "Please stay!" Meelo exclaimed, bouncing up and down excitedly. Jinora and Ikki nodded eagerly, their eyes pleading.

Even Pema gave Ash a firm but kind mom stare that brooked no argument. "It's settled then. You're staying," she said, her tone leaving no room for protest.

With no choice left and feeling the genuine hospitality from the family, Ash finally relented. "Alright, I'll stay. Thank you all for the generous offer."

The children cheered, and Pema's stern expression softened into a smile. "Great. We'll get a room ready for you."

As the family dispersed to prepare for the night, Tenzin placed a reassuring hand on Ash's shoulder. "We're glad to have you here, Ash. Rest well. Tomorrow is a new day."

Ash nodded, feeling a sense of warmth and gratitude.

The next morning...

It was early morning, and Ash was struggling to stay awake as he joined Tenzin, his kids, and a half-awake Korra at the training grounds. Ash sat on the sidelines, resting his tired face in his open palms, as he observed the beginning of Korra's Airbending training. Tenzin had insisted on starting bright and early, much to the chagrin of the groggy Avatar.

"Why so early, Tenzin?" Korra grumbled and complained, but Tenzin remained calm. He gestured towards the moving training fans, a traditional Airbending exercise passed down through generations.

"Korra, your first task is to move around these fans like a leaf in the wind," Tenzin instructed.

Korra looked baffled. "A leaf in the wind? What does that even mean?"

Tenzin sighed and turned to his children. "Jinora, Ikki, Meelo, show Korra what I mean."

The kids eagerly stepped forward. Jinora moved gracefully, demonstrating the fluid and light movements needed to navigate through the fans. Ikki followed, adding her own playful flair, and Meelo, with his boundless energy, zipped through the fans with ease.

"Those kids are good." Ash watched, intrigued, as each child displayed their Airbending prowess. The elegance and precision of their movements captivated him. Despite his sleepiness, he found himself genuinely interested in the training.

"See, Korra?" Tenzin said, turning back to her. "You need to be light on your feet, flowing with the movements of the air. It's about agility and balance."

Korra sighed and rolled her eyes but stepped forward to give it a try. She took a deep breath and attempted to move through the fans. Her first attempt was clumsy; she collided with one of the fans, causing it to stop momentarily before it restarted.

"Ugh, this is impossible!" Korra exclaimed, frustration evident in her voice.

"Patience, Korra," Tenzin said calmly. "Airbending requires a different mindset. You must let go of your rigidity and embrace the flow of the air."

On her second attempt, Korra faced the moving fans once more, determination etched on her face. However, as she tried to maneuver through them, her movements were still too rigid. Ash winced every time Korra got hit and bounced around by the fans, feeling her frustration as if it were his own.

"Come on, Korra, you can do this," Ash muttered under his breath, rooting for her silently.

On her third and final attempt, Korra's frustration reached its peak. With a fierce scowl, she decided to take a different approach. Summoning jets of water, she aimed them at the moving fans, hoping to slow them down or stop them entirely. However, the fans were designed to handle air currents and other bending techniques; they redirected the water right back at her. The redirected jets of water sprayed wildly, soaking not only Korra but also Tenzin, his children, and Ash, who sat on the sidelines. Ash blinked in surprise as the cold water drenched him, his hair plastered to his forehead.

Tenzin's eyebrow twitched in annoyance, droplets of water running down his face. "Alright, that's enough for now," he said, trying to keep his composure. "Let's take a break."

Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo shook themselves off, their laughter a mix of amusement and mild annoyance. "Korra, that was awesome!" Meelo said, despite being soaked.

"Sorry, everyone," Korra said sheepishly, wiping water from her eyes. "I just...I got frustrated."

"It's alright, Korra," Tenzin sighed, adjusting his now-soggy robes. "Airbending is about patience and adaptability. We'll continue training after we've dried off."

Ash couldn't help but chuckle at the situation. "Well, that was definitely an interesting way to start the morning," he said, shaking water from his hair. "I'm sure you'll get the hang of it, Korra."

Korra gave a small, appreciative smile. "Thanks, Ash. I'll keep trying."

Later that evening...

As the sun set over Yue Bay, casting a warm golden glow on the water, Ash and Korra strolled along the pier, taking in the fresh evening air. Korra's frustration was palpable, and she vented her feelings openly.

"I can't believe Tenzin!" she exclaimed, throwing her hands up in exasperation. "He's constantly scolding me, telling me I need to be calm and adapt. How am I supposed to stay calm when nothing's working?"

Ash walked beside her, a bead of sweat forming on his forehead as he listened. He could see how much this was affecting her. "Well, you know," he began cautiously, "maybe he's trying to push you to see things from a different perspective. Airbending is all about being flexible and finding the flow."

Korra rolled her eyes, mimicking Tenzin's stern expression. "Find the flow, Korra. Move like a leaf in the wind, Korra," she mocked, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "How am I supposed to do that when I'm getting smacked around by those stupid fans?"

Ash chuckled softly. "I get it. It's frustrating. But maybe it's not about getting it right immediately. Maybe it's about learning to stay calm despite the frustration."

Korra sighed, her shoulders slumping. "I know you're right, but it's just...so hard. I'm the Avatar. I'm supposed to be able to do this."

Ash nodded, understanding her struggle. "Being the Avatar doesn't mean you have to be perfect at everything right away. It's about learning and growing. You'll get there, Korra."

They walked in silence for a moment, the sound of the water lapping against the pier filling the air. Korra took a deep breath, trying to let go of some of her frustration. "Thanks, Ash. I needed to hear that."

Ash smiled warmly. "Anytime. Just remember, you're not alone in this. You've got Tenzin, his kids, and me. We'll all help you get through this."

Korra managed a small smile, feeling a bit lighter. "You're right. I guess I just need to keep trying and not let my anger get the best of me."

"Exactly," Ash agreed. "And if you ever need to blow off some steam, I'm here to listen."

As Ash and Korra continued their walk, they passed an alley where a pair of glowing red eyes glared at them from the shadows. It was Heartless Amon, lurking and observing. His eyes narrowed as he focused on Ash, a sneer of contempt curling his lips.

Amon's chilling voice echoed in the darkness, "So this is the Keyblade wielder?" The words were filled with disdain, carrying a sinister edge. "How disappointing."

Ash paused abruptly, his senses tingling. He glanced back, scanning the alley for the source of the voice, but saw nothing out of the ordinary. His heart pounded in his chest, the eeriness of the situation unsettling him.

Korra, noticing his sudden change in demeanor, placed a hand on his shoulder. "Ash, what's wrong?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.

Ash forced a smile, trying to mask his unease. "It's nothing," he said, his voice wavering slightly. "Just thought I heard something." He turned back to the path, resuming their walk with a determined effort to shake off the feeling of being watched.

Korra frowned, clearly not convinced by his response. "Are you sure? You seem a bit off."

"Yeah, I'm fine," Ash insisted, though his mind was still racing. He didn't want to worry Korra further, especially after her frustrating day of training.

As Ash tried to shake off the weird feeling, a group of Pro-bending fans rushed past them, eagerly talking about the upcoming Fire Ferrets match.

"Fire Ferrets?" Ash blinked in confusion at the name, while a big grin spread across Korra's face.

"Oh, cool! Didn't realize Mako's next match was this soon!" She was all too familiar with the Pro-bending team and felt a surge of excitement knowing that Mako's match was about to start.

"Who's Mako?" Ash asked, genuinely puzzled by Korra's sudden enthusiasm.

Rather than explaining, Korra grabbed Ash's wrist and said, "No time to explain! We have to go watch!" With a strong tug, she pulled him forward, causing Ash to yelp in surprise.

"Whoa, slow down!" Ash protested, trying to keep up with her pace.

Korra's excitement was palpable as she led them through the bustling streets towards the Pro-bending Arena. "Trust me, Ash, you're gonna love this!" she exclaimed, barely able to contain her excitement.

They arrived at the Pro-bending Arena, its grand structure illuminated by bright lights. The atmosphere was electric, with fans cheering and vendors selling merchandise. Korra navigated through the crowd with ease, still holding onto Ash's wrist.

Once inside, they found a spot with a good view of the ring. The arena was packed with enthusiastic spectators, all eagerly awaiting the match. Ash's eyes widened as he took in the lively atmosphere and the impressive setup of the arena.

"This is incredible," Ash admitted, finally understanding Korra's excitement.

Korra grinned, releasing his wrist. "I know, right? You're in for a treat. The Fire Ferrets are amazing, especially Mako and Bolin."

As the teams entered the stage below, the crowd erupted in cheers, their excitement palpable. The Fire Ferrets, a heavy favorite among the fans, took their positions.

"Thank you. Thank you. We'll be here all night!" Bolin, the Earthbender of the team, couldn't resist playing to the crowd, blowing kisses and waving with exuberant thank-yous to their enthusiastic supporters, especially the female fans.

Mako, the team leader and Firebender, watched his younger brother's antics with a mix of amusement and exasperation. "Bolin, focus," he said, trying to bring some semblance of seriousness back to their preparation.

Hasook, the Waterbender on the team, frowned in annoyance. "Mako, can you get your brother to act like a professional for once? We're not here to put on a comedy show."

Mako's eyes narrowed, his protective instinct kicking in. "Back off, Hasook," he warned, his voice firm. "Bolin's just trying to keep the fans happy. If you have a problem with that, maybe you're the one who doesn't belong on this team."

"Whatever." Hasook scoffed, rolling his eyes but refraining from further comment. He knew better than to push Mako too far, especially right before a match.

As the two teams converged in the center of the arena, eagerly awaiting the referee's final instructions, a hushed silence fell over the crowd. Suddenly, a chilling voice reverberated throughout the stadium, sending shivers down the spines of benders and non-benders alike. "Attention, esteemed spectators, benders, and nonbenders! Tonight's highly anticipated Pro-bending matchup has been met with an unexpected twist. I regret to inform you that the clash you've all been eagerly awaiting is officially postponed!" The crowd gasped and looked around, trying to locate the source of the ominous voice.

"That voice..." Ash's eyes widened as he recognized the voice from earlier.

"Amon," Korra muttered, her expression darkening.

Ash glanced at her, confusion evident on his face. "Who's Amon?"

Before Korra could answer, a dark portal appeared on the battle stage near the Fire Ferrets' side. The arena erupted with murmurs and whispers as the tension escalated. Emerging from the portal was Heartless Amon, flanked by his lieutenant and several Equalist chi-blockers. The sight of them sent a wave of fear and anxiety through the audience.

Bolin, visibly worried, turned to Mako. "What's going on, Mako?"

Mako's eyes narrowed, his stance defensive as he stared down the intruders. "Stay alert, Bolin. This doesn't look good."

Heartless Amon stepped forward, his masked face emotionless. "Tonight, we take a stand against the bending elite," he declared. The lieutenant and chi-blockers spread out, ready to strike at any moment.

Korra clenched her fists, her anger rising. "Amon!"

From his position, Ash could feel the dark energy radiating from Amon. "He's not just an ordinary enemy," Ash whispered. "He's got darkness in him."

The Pro-benders found themselves in an intense standoff against Heartless Amon's men. Mako's voice cut through the tension like a knife. "We need to work together if we want any chance of getting out of this alive," he urged, his tone edged with urgency.

But his plea fell on deaf ears. Hasook and the opposing team, fueled by a mixture of fear and defiance, unleashed a barrage of bending at the lieutenant and his chi-blockers. Sparks of fire, rocks, and torrents of water filled the air with chaos and desperation. However, their efforts proved futile as Amon's men swiftly overpowered them, leaving Mako and Bolin to face the looming threat alone.

"Great..." Mako's frustration boiled to the surface, a deep-seated groan escaping his lips as he surveyed the dire situation.

"Mako, what should we do?" Bolin asked, his voice filled with concern.

"We have to stick together," Mako insisted, his voice tinged with determination. "If we're going to stand a chance against Amon and his cronies, we need to fight as a team."

Bolin hesitated, his gaze flickering between his brother and the advancing adversaries. "But Mako," he began, uncertainty lacing his words, "what if—"

"We can do this, Bolin," Mako interrupted, his voice unwavering. "Trust me."

Reluctantly, Bolin nodded. With a shared nod of understanding, the brothers braced themselves for the impending clash.

Heartless Amon chuckled darkly, his amusement evident as he observed the brothers' stubborn resilience. "Impressive," he murmured, "they would make fine additions to our cause."

With a sinister snap of his fingers, Shadows and Neoshadows materialized, encircling the benders in a menacing display. "What the...are these aliens or something?" Bolin's eyes widened in sheer panic at the sudden appearance of the Heartless, mistaking them for extraterrestrial beings, much to Mako's disbelief.

"Seriously, Bolin? Now?" Mako's incredulous remark earned a sheepish grin from his younger brother, who realized the inopportune timing of his jest.

"Sorry, Mako."

Before the Heartless could strike, a whirlwind of action ensued as a spinning Keyblade sliced through the air, swiftly dispatching each Heartless in the blink of an eye. The Keyblade immediately returned to Ash's grip, who alongside Korra, rushed to join the fray.

"What in the world just happened-Gahhhhhh!" Amon's lieutenant queried, only to find himself and the chi-blockers swept away by Korra's powerful Waterbending, plummeting into the depths below, leaving Heartless Amon isolated with Mako, Bolin, Ash, and Korra.

"Thank you, both of you. You're lifesavers!" Bolin exclaimed with genuine gratitude, his initial obliviousness giving way to appreciation as he processed the events. But as realization dawned upon him, his eyes widened in astonishment, and he couldn't contain his excitement. "Oh, my gosh! You're the Avatar!" he squeaked in delight.

"Yup, that's me!" Korra replied with a grin.

"Mako, did you hear that? She's the Avatar!" Bolin turned to his brother, unable to contain his excitement.

"Bolin... I don't think this is the time to act like a fanboy," Mako chided gently, trying to maintain composure in the midst of the chaos.

"Hey!" Bolin protested.

"Heh, the Avatar," Amon sneered, his tone dripping with disdain as he addressed Korra. "What an honor to finally meet you." His words were laced with mockery, igniting a fire of defiance in Korra's eyes as she squared her shoulders, refusing to back down.

Turning his attention to Ash, Amon's smirk widened behind his mask. "And you, Keyblade wielder," he remarked, a hint of surprise coloring his tone. "You're more skilled than I anticipated."

Ash's confusion morphed into suspicion as he demanded, "How do you know about me?"

Amon's response was cryptic, his smirk never faltering. "Let's just say, I have my sources. But that's beside the point." He waved off Ash's inquiry with a casual flick of his hand, his focus returning to the impending confrontation.

"We're not going to let you get away with this," Korra declared with a sharp glare.

"Overconfident, aren't we?" Amon chuckled darkly, the aura of darkness around him pulsating ominously. "You have no idea what you're up against."

Ash tightened his grip on the Oathkeeper. "We'll see about that!" he declared defiantly, charging forward with Korra at his side.

"Wait! We need a plan!" Mako's plea fell on deaf ears as Bolin, fueled by adrenaline and impulsiveness, surged ahead without hesitation. Mako let out an exasperated groan, realizing the futility of trying to reason with everyone. With a resigned sigh, he followed suit, his heart heavy with the weight of uncertainty.

Heartless Amon moved with a fluid grace, effortlessly sidestepping Ash's swift strike and Korra's Firebending onslaught. As Bolin hurled rocks in his direction, Amon deftly evaded each projectile with calculated precision, closing in on the Earthbender with alarming speed.

Bolin's panic was palpable as Amon closed the distance, but before he could strike, Mako intervened, unleashing a barrage of fiery attacks to keep the Equalist at bay. Amon, recognizing the threat posed by the seasoned Firebender, danced nimbly out of harm's way.

Seizing the fleeting window of opportunity, Ash cast a fierce Fira spell and aimed his Keyblade tip directly at Heartless Amon. The fireball hurtled through the air with blazing speed, closing the distance in an instant. With limited options, the Heartless Equalist braced himself, unable to evade the fiery projectile in time.

Bbbooooooooommmm

The explosion engulfed him momentarily, sending him skidding through the smoke with a grunt of pain. But even as he struggled to regain his footing, his instincts remained razor-sharp.

Before Korra could capitalize on the opening, Amon recovered, his movements swift and decisive. With a surge of darkness, he conjured a sinister dark sphere, unleashing it from his palm towards the unsuspecting Avatar with chilling accuracy.

"Korra!" Ash's cry rang out, filled with desperation and concern, but it was too late. The dark sphere collided with its target, sending Korra hurtling back with a cry of pain, her body engulfed in darkness as she tumbled through the air.

Heartless Amon's dark chuckle filled the air as he observed the chaos he had wrought, reveling in the pain and despair of his adversaries. With sadistic delight, he watched as Ash rushed to Korra's side, only to find her paralyzed by dark electricity coursing through her body.

But before he could savor the moment, Bolin's fury erupted in a barrage of attacks aimed at the Heartless Equalist. With eerie agility, Amon deftly evaded each assault, his movements fluid and precise. Closing the distance, he struck Bolin with a devastating dark sphere, sending the Earthbender spiraling through the air in a whirlwind of pain and anguish.

"Bolin!" Mako's cry of anguish pierced the chaos as he watched his brother crash to the ground, unable to move under the paralyzing grip of the dark electricity. "You will pay for that, Amon!" Mako's voice trembled with fury as he launched himself at the Heartless Equalist, unleashing a relentless assault that took Amon by surprise. Despite his best efforts, Amon found himself struggling to fend off Mako's onslaught, his annoyance palpable as he realized the Firebender's tenacity.

But Amon was not one to be outmatched for long. With a sinister grin, he tapped into his hidden ability, the dreaded art of Bloodbending. Mako's cries of agony filled the air as he felt his body being twisted and contorted against his will, a sickening sensation that left him powerless to resist.

Seizing the opportunity, Heartless Amon unleashed another dark sphere at Mako, the explosion engulfing him in a maelstrom of darkness and despair.

Bbbooooooooommmm

As Mako lay there, vulnerable and unable to move, Heartless Amon loomed over him, his dark aura radiating power and malice. With a chilling calmness, Amon extended his palm, crackling with ominous black electricity, ready to deliver the final blow to the Firebending prodigy.

As Amon detected the impending danger, he instinctively ducked under Ash's Oathkeeper strike, narrowly avoiding a direct hit. However, Ash pressed on, launching forward to land a powerful strike on Amon's chest. Amon hissed in pain as he stumbled backwards, feeling the impact of the blow.

But Amon was not one to be easily defeated. With a desperate move, he extended his palm and activated his Bloodbending ability, seizing control of Ash's body and halting his assault. Ash groaned as he felt his limbs being manipulated against his will, his movements restricted by Amon's dark power.

With a sinister grin behind his mask, Amon charged forward, unleashing a dark sphere of energy that slammed into Ash with devastating force.

Bbbooooooooommmm

The Keyblade wielder was sent hurtling backward, tumbling across the arena before finally collapsing on his stomach, the Oathkeeper skidding out of his grip.

Struggling to move, Ash found himself paralyzed by the dark electricity coursing through his body, his strength drained.

Heartless Amon stood over the paralyzed Keyblade wielder, his voice dripping with condescension. "Impressive," he mused, his eyes gleaming with malevolent delight behind his mask. "No one has ever landed a hit on me before. It seems I'm still getting used to these new powers. A good warmup, though. This dark ability of mine is similar to Bloodbending, but it requires direct contact—a major flaw, perhaps, but I have other tricks up my sleeve." Seeing that Ash was in trouble, Korra struggled to get up, but her body refused to respond. The black electricity had drained her strength, leaving her helpless on the ground. Heartless Amon glanced at her, contemplating finishing them both off. But then he reconsidered. "What fun would it be to end this so soon?" he muttered. "I'll spare you for now. You're not yet a real threat."

As he began to leave, his pace halted when he heard a groan. Turning around, he saw Ash forcing himself to his feet, gritting through the pain. Amon's eyes widened slightly behind his mask, impressed by the young warrior's indomitable will.

"Persistent, aren't we?" Amon remarked, slightly amused. "But you're not strong enough."

With a swift motion, Amon fired another black sphere, sending Ash crashing onto his back once more, his strength draining further. Heartless Amon chuckled a dark, hollow sound. "Intriguing," he said, his voice echoing through the arena. "I hope to see more of you, Keyblade wielder." With that, he disappeared through a dark portal, leaving behind a scene of chaos and devastation.

Ash lay on the ground, struggling to move, while Korra and the others began to stir, slowly recovering from the dark assault. The arena was filled with murmurs and gasps as the audience processed what had just transpired. Korra managed to crawl over to Ash, concern etched on her face.

"Ash, are you okay?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Ash nodded weakly, wincing from the pain. "I'll be fine," he said, though his voice was strained. "We need to figure out how to stop him."

Korra helped Ash to his feet, and together they looked around the arena. Mako and Bolin were still down, attempting to regain their composure. "Those two could use some help, don't you think?" she asked.

"Nothing a few Cura can't do," Ash replied, raising his Keyblade. Korra gave him a confused look.

"Cura?"

"It's a healing spell," Ash explained with a small smile. "Just watch."

Ash closed his eyes, focusing his energy, and pointed his Keyblade towards Mako and Bolin. A soft green light enveloped them as he cast Cura, the spell working its magic to heal their injuries and restore their strength. Mako and Bolin's eyes widened in surprise as they felt their pain diminish and their energy return.

"Whoa, what was that?" Bolin asked, sitting up and flexing his newly healed muscles.

"That felt amazing," Mako added, standing up and looking at Ash with newfound respect. "Thank you."

Ash nodded, slightly winded from the effort but satisfied. "Just a little magic. We need to be at our best if we're going to take on Amon again."

"Ugh, don't remind us about that," Bolin said with a groan.

"We need to come up with a plan. Amon is more dangerous than we thought, and now he has these Heartless creatures on his side," Korra said with a frown, crossing her arms.

"Perhaps, but he's not unbeatable," Ash said, drawing all eyes on him.

"What do you mean?" Mako demanded with a frown. "I'm sure he is unbeatable when he beat us without breaking a sweat."

"The thing is, he has limitations and we can work around them," Ash explained.

"Easier said than done, but he's still unbeatable," Mako retorted.

"Not quite," Ash insisted.

"Who are you trying to fool?" Mako growled, his patience growing thin.

Ash simply shrugged. "I'm just saying he has many flaws, and they can be exposed."

"In any case, just talking about it won't help us if we don't come up with a plan," Korra interjected.

"And besides, getting beat up by an evil Equalist did work up an appetite," Bolin said, earning a groan from his brother.

"Bolin..."

"What? I'm a growing boy, Mako!" Bolin pouted.

"Your brother has a point. I'm getting hungry, too," Ash admitted sheepishly.

"See! He agrees with me, Mako! Great minds think alike. I think this is going to be a beautiful friendship," Bolin said with a grin.

Mako facepalmed and shook his head. "Or a nightmare."

Korra chuckled slightly. "Alright, let's go look for something to eat then we will plan out our next move."

Meanwhile, up in the stands, a figure cloaked in darkness watched the scene unfold with an intense, piercing gaze. The red eyes beneath the black hood glowed with frustration and disappointment. This was Xhäs, Ash's Nobody, who had been observing the events from the shadows.

"How did you lose against a weakling like him, Ash?" Xhäs muttered under his breath, his scowl deepening. "At this rate, you will never be completed with this kind of showing. Stop butting into other people's business."

His voice, filled with disdain, echoed in his own mind as he continued to watch Ash and the group. Xhäs's presence went unnoticed amidst the chaos and conversations below, allowing him to scrutinize every move and word exchanged. He was acutely aware of the stakes involved and the intricate balance between light and darkness that was constantly shifting.

As he observed Ash's interactions with Korra, Mako, and Bolin, Xhäs couldn't help but feel a pang of resentment. He had always believed that Ash's involvement in these conflicts was a distraction from their true purpose. To him, the friendships and alliances Ash was forming were unnecessary complications in their quest for completion.

"They don't understand," Xhäs continued to murmur, his eyes narrowing. "They can't see the bigger picture. This world and its troubles are insignificant compared to our goal."

Despite his harsh words, a part of Xhäs couldn't completely dismiss the strength that Ash drew from his connections with others. It was a power that Xhäs, in his solitary existence, could never fully comprehend or harness. And yet, it was this very strength that posed the greatest threat to his own existence.

With a final glance at the group below, Xhäs turned away, melting into the shadows of the arena.

Most of you were bummed Ash lost to Heartless Amon in the 1st fight, but it was expected since he has some broken skills after all. Don't worry, Ash will get his win back and learn his final elemental skill in the final part of the visit. Also, I hope you guys enjoy the characters' interactions with each other, especially with Bolin. The dude is too funny. And the last thing, Xhäs will play a factor in the outcome of the second Amon's battle. What could it be? You will have to find out.

Extra scene: Seaweed noodles

Ash, Korra, Mako, and Bolin strolled through the bustling streets of Republic City. The intense encounter with Heartless Amon had left them weary, but Bolin's enthusiasm was infectious.

"I can't believe you never told me about this place!" Mako exclaimed as they approached a cozy shop with a cheerful sign reading "Narook's Seaweed Noodlery."

Bolin grinned sheepishly. "I needed a favorite spot to hang out. Plus, I needed a break from your constant nagging, Mako."

Mako frowned but didn't argue. Instead, he opened the door and motioned for the group to enter. Inside, the restaurant was warm and inviting, the air rich with the savory aroma of cooking broth and seaweed. They found a table near the back and settled in.

Bolin eagerly waved down a server. "Four bowls of the famous seaweed noodles, please!"

Korra chuckled, nudging Ash with her elbow. "You're in for a treat, Ash. This is authentic Water Tribe food."

Ash nodded, though his enthusiasm was tinged with hesitation. He exchanged a glance with Mako who was equally unsure.

When the steaming bowls arrived, Bolin and Korra dove in, slurping the noodles with gusto. Mako and Ash, on the other hand, hesitated, eyeing their bowls uncertainly.

"Mmm, this is amazing!" Korra exclaimed, grinning as she devoured another mouthful.

Bolin nodded vigorously in agreement. "Come on, you guys, dig in!"

Korra smirked at Ash. "If you don't eat yours, I might just take it."

Ash took a deep breath, steeled his nerves, and lifted the bowl. He tentatively sipped the broth, then took a bite of the noodles. His eyes widened in surprise. "Hey, this isn't too bad!"

Mako, still skeptical, picked up his chopsticks and sampled the noodles. He shrugged. "Not bad, I guess."

Bolin's eyes gleamed with mischief as he eyed Mako's bowl. "If you're not going to eat it, Mako, I'd be happy to take it off your hands."

Mako smirked with a devilish idea forming. "Sure, Bolin, you can have it. But let me heat it up for you first."

Bolin's eyes lit up. "Thanks, Mako! You're the best."

Mako subtly moved his hand over the bowl, using his firebending to heat the noodles until they were nearly boiling. He handed the bowl to Bolin, who eagerly took a big bite, only to yelp in pain as the scorching noodles burned his tongue.

"Ow! Hot! Hot!" Bolin fanned his mouth, gulping down water to cool the burn.

Korra and Ash burst into laughter.

"That's what you get for keeping secrets," Mako said, chuckling as Bolin glared at him.

As they finished their meal, Ash leaned back in his chair, feeling content. "I've got to hand it to you, Bolin. This place is pretty awesome."

Bolin beamed, his earlier discomfort forgotten. "Told you! Narook's is the best."

Korra wiped her mouth with a napkin, nodding in agreement. "We should make this a regular spot. It's a great place to unwind after a crazy day."

Mako finally smiled. "Yeah, I guess it is. Just don't keep any more secrets from me, Bolin."

Bolin raised his hands in mock surrender. "No more secrets, I promise."
