Hello everyone to the next chapter of Lustful Colosseum!
I hope everyone enjoyed the first chapter of this little story. I know this kind of writing is a little bit out of my comfort zone still.
But I must learn through experience!
Also I'd like to thank a reviewer in the comments for pointing out that duplication.
Sometimes I miss that when I'm searching through in my editing and they slip through the cracks. I mostly blame the Fanfiction App that I do my typing on, its always being a little shit.
Bum ass broken app...
Insults aside, I sincerely thank those people that point that out in my story, for some reason those duplicates delete the sentences that I had previously. So its definitely a pain in the ass to redo that stuff.
Regardless, let us continue the sinful pleasure that this fic will thread together.
I don't own RWBY... Huh... I don't know who owns it now. Lol...
Chapter 2: A Paladin Knight's Journey
Rookshire Castle, one of the prestigious locations for the Knights of Ozmis stood proudly in the afternoon sunlight. While the symbol of their flag, a sort of spiked cog wheel that was copper and gold with blue coloring the background waving in the slight breeze up above the structure.
The famous stronghold was a testament to dark monsters and evil alike as it has stood the test of time for years. Fending off invasions and attacks, while still holding up. Round towers that were still quite large and looking sturdy.
The good condition of those towers showed every knight here that this building was as strong as they come. That the knights of old and new took care of the structure as best as they could.
But as the old structure made of worn cobblestone was moving on in the years, so where the newer generations of Ozmis knights. As their influence spread and as their protection was needed, new castle across the land sprouted up, causing potential new recruits and other veterans to abandon this old relic, and move towards more promising garrisons and castles near cities and towns.
However in Jaune Arc's opinion this castle suited all of his needs when he joined up with the noble cause. It was everything he ever wanted when he signed up to become a knight.
Well... not everything, these last three months have definitely been a whirlwind of events when he made it here to Castle Rookshire.
Fresh off of being a recruit knight for the order and then jumping up to second in command was no small feat for the blond. His time here felt like a quick lighting bolt shot from a gods hand. It felt bizarre to the lad as now he wasn't the recruit anymore, and he was the one watching and teaching the basics.
He could remember like it was yesterday...
(Three Months Ago...)
His humble beginnings here began with reporting into the captain for the castle, Knight Captain Lucas of the 5th Platoon. In the blonde's eyes he couldn't help but be awestruck when he first met the man, his shiny silver armor and accents on the grieves and boots made him look grand for the rank of Captain.
Jaune couldn't wait to become knighted! He knew that under this guy, he would become a knight spoken in legend.
Unfortunately... that was definitely not the case for his first week.
Since he was lowest man on the totem pole here and the fresh meat, he was stuck to doing boring chores for most of the other knights here at Rookshire. Stuff that was relegated to basic chore boys of the order. Armor polishing, cooking the for the whole barracks, weapon maintenance and restocking, whatever the knights and other soldiers needed he had to do it as he was the basic recruit.
"And here I thought I was already a knight..." Boy was he wrong by a longshot, the man was only a bottom of the barrel soldier for the order of Oz.
From what he was told from the others in order to become a knight, you needed to show your prowess in combat. Preferably during the spars.
Then when you finally proved yourself, the order had you go on quests to help the civilian populace by clearing out areas that could be considered 'evil' by the order.
With that revelation given to him by the others at Rookshire, it only motivated the young man to try and make it to knight as quick as he could. Showing that he can learn and become a powerful warrior and a knight to make everyone around him respect him.
Besides, he noticed a ton of knights here at the castle. With how plentiful they are here, the path to becoming a knight shouldn't be too hard could it?
Right away he was proven wrong with that question.
It was as hard as morning wood...
Training to become a soldier was its own hardship because of how difficult the training can be.
The other knights there told him that to become knighted, the captain required every knight to be at least adept at least two weapons. But there were exceptions to the rule if you had magical abilities, then you'd have a special classification of Paladin, one of a rank in the knight order.
However they were a rare class that were rare and difficult to come by, plus the training for them were definitely straining. Training to become a knight was hard compared to a regular solider, but training to become a Paladin was one of the most difficult tasks in the order he heard.
Besides... there was no way he'd actually become attune to magic at the drop hat anyways. He had enough trouble with regular training in the order.
Sparring, physical workouts, and other drills would break his body down and to the brink of unconsciousness as he was drilled to fight and survive this hellish training of being part of the order.
Every morning was a living nightmare for Jaune, his body feeling aches and pains every morning and night after the day was done. His muscles screaming at him from the strain and his body feeling the fatigue.
That rang especially when the captain got involved in their sparring sessions. Jaune was very familiar with someone screaming in his ears thanks to being a lazy farm boy prior to coming here.
Captain Lucas was no different, he was always yelling his lungs out and disciplining the others around the training grounds for their mistakes and capitalized on the screw ups.
Sparring practice is where he was always the most critical, striking down the other knights and newer soldiers with a wooden sword during their practices.
Apparently the newer the recruit, the harsher the captain treated them during trainings.
Which definitely had Jaune rubbing at welts and other spots after the thrashing he got those days since he was the newbie. They were irritating whenever he went to sleep somedays, and definitely painful reminders to be better.
But the silver lining of that definitely was that out of all of the other recruits during their time here, the blond was able to give the CO the most trouble by getting a couple of licks in against him during sparring practice. Which definitely got a chuckle out of the other knights and soldiers, but it came at the price of everyone running around the castle for 'endurance training'.
But Jaune knew the true reason, the captain was definitely embarrassed by getting hit by a newbie.
As he continued to stay at Rookshire he started to notice Captain Lucas had a bit of a chip on his shoulder as the men under his command didn't really respect his authority because of his shitty attitude, usually having a haughty attitude and bragging out to the whole castle that, "If the kingdom of Atlas would come and recruit his skill, he would leave the order in a heartbeat."
The grandstanding usually had everyone roll their eyes at the man, he was so full of hogshit that everyone thought they saw his eyes turn brown.
Though Jaune didn't care about that drama. His resolve still stood firm of his dream of becoming a knight, the ideal still in his mind. If he had to work hard to become one then so be it. He would train harder than anyone there if he had to.
The first month had passed during that promise, and in that time Jaune had scratched and clawed his way to the top spot of the regular new recruits during his stay. His Sword and Shield skills has been improving by leaps and bounds.
The long sparring days and extra training nights that he had spent while others snoozed or decided to get lazy during patrol shifts. Jaune couldn't help the pride filling his body as he continued to improve.
But he had felt somewhat stagnant when all of the order was just training all this time. He needed to be out in the field to prove to the order that he was ready, that he wanted to protect those that needed it from the forces of evil.
Luckily he would get his chance for plenty of action during this next month as their was a slew of trouble brewing in the Northern part of the continent. It seems that their had been attacks happening against villages that the Wizards of the North couldn't handle. Though what do you expect from the brittle bookworms of the Solitas Magic Academy when all they send are rocky creations like Gargoyles and Golems.
But apparently the situation was worse than Jaune thought when they got to one of the villages that were still safe from attack.
From what his platoon heard, the Orcs and Ogres population were leading other nasty races with them to help them. The doggish hyena Gnolls that were vicious pillagers were the vanguard of the attacks, along with Goblins that were on top of wolves for more speed, pillaging and destroying the places for their own gain. While the emerald colored Orcs were archers and axe throwers, killing stragglers and fighters that try to fight back. The Ogres hadn't needed to get involved as they thought their underlings could handle a couple of militiamen and the weak soldiers here in these villages. But they were definitely the largest threats as they had nasty magic that could make the other troops go berserk, increasing their bloodlust and battle prowess.
The pillaging got so bad the northern villages decided to hire the help of the knights, hoping the organization of the Oz would not only protect the villages, but also to find the origin of these assaults and put an end to the carnage.
The order quickly mobilized, as they started protecting the remaining villages by setting up heavy roadblocks and making temporary garrison with heavy crossbow turrets and cannons to take down heavy hitters.
It was said the 7th Platoon of Knightgale was sent here to quell the madness along with the help of a couple mages of the Solitas Academy. But it seems that the Crown of Ozmis did not think that the 7th could take on these forces alone.
The good news was that Rookshire and Knightgale castles were the closest forces near the conflicts. So the 5th and 7th Platoon were to join forces to stop these bands of monsters from attacking and destroy them once and for all.
This was it! With Captain Lucas leading his group into the fray, this would be his first taste of combat.
Their first assignment was to protect the village of Black Hollow, the town famous for their surprising dark wooded homes because of the color of trees they cut down were a firm dark brown or black. His squad of soldiers was being led by a knight named Jeffery, one of the more experienced knights of Rookshire Castle.
The older knight had the marksmen position themselves on the rooftops and wooden spiked barricades to stop the advancements in each road, making it harder for bigger monsters like Orcs and Ogres to come into the town and roadblock for the goblins on those wolves.
When the time came to defend, Jaune felt his heart pound in anxiety. His form was slightly shaking as his nervousness and fright mixed together.
What if he didn't make it out of this battle in one piece? What about his family, and how would they know if he perished? Was he strong enough to fight back and survive against these monsters assault?
He shook his head to and psyched himself out, looking towards his sword and shield and felt his heart swell with a different emotion.
His couldn't just run away with his tail between his legs. All of the training, the practice, sweat, blood, and tears led to this moment. Jaune wanted to become a knight, he knew that he would get into situations like this, becoming the shield for those that needed it. Becoming the sword to cut down the darkness that plagued this land.
It didn't matter what happened, he knew that this life was the one of risks and chances. In order to become a true hero, one had to be willing to sacrifice themselves and strive to protect the weak from death and defeat the strong to survive.
And that's what Jaune Miles Arc was going to do damnit, the brother gods be damned!
"WE HAVE GNOLLS INCOMING FROM THE NORTH WOODS!" Yelled one of the scouts from the rooftops. The knights and soldiers readied themselves as they heard the sounds of howling and the roars of the beasts. The clouds started to darken into a grey hue, the air around them turning warm and cool at once.
Jaune readied himself, his battle brothers of soldiers and knights with him on the front lines as they started to see movement from the brush. Numerous amount of the beast like Gnolls came from the woods, their growls sounding out their battle cries as they went to destroy the town of Black Hollow. From behind them more and more howls of wolves sounded out along with grunts and snarls of little green men with long black hair and little daggers and short swords in their hands as they quickly caught up to the front and center monsters.
"WOLF RIDERS ARE ON THE WAY!" The marksmen scout said out as they got into position to fire.
"Alright! 5th Platoon! Ready your weapons!" Jeffery yelled out. "We will hold this line from these creatures no matter what! These bastards have raised their last village!" raising his sword as well
A cry of battle came out of everyone, as Jaune and others yelled out in conviction.
"Let the archers do their work first! Then when those raging beasts get here, we will cut them down with our tempered steel and drive them away from these townspeople!" Jeffery cried out.
"Remember our oath to the order gentlemen!"
"Though it is darkness that walks into our path, let us shine our light throughout this bloodbath!" Every man reciting the short oath from memory. "The road maybe long and may give us pause, but our holy strength is given by the savior Lord Oz!"
"Light and dark intertwine, but through hardship do our souls become divine. We swear our loyalty to the order and give the enemy no quarter!" With the final part of the oath said, the cries of all the soldiers and knights intensified as they prepared for the battle. Jaune forgot all of the tension as he felt invigorated, his body brimming with energy for the battle.
As the monsters got close, the sudden appearance of water droplets fell from the sky as rain started to come down to make the land soggy with water, with the footsteps of the Gnoll and the Wolf Riders closing in fast thanks to the puddles of water now showing up from the pouring rain.
"Archers! Take aim!" The lead Marksmen shouted as they all readied their crossbows and knocked their bows to fire the arrows. "FIRE!" With the command heard, a cloud of arrows rained down on the leading Gnoll force. Hitting some of them and piercing their bodies to stop them. The marksmen definitely hit their targets as bodies littered the ground from the rain of death.
"Again!" The lead said as they saw more goblin wolf riders coming into the view from the back. "Aim at the back, our ground forces will take care of the rest!" As the archers continued their duty and docked more arrows in their bows to continue the supporting fire.
"This is it men, here they come!" As a wave of Gnolls came towards the town, the knights and soldiers met them head on before they were able to attack the houses of Dark Hollow.
The resulting clash was definitely a life changing moment for Jaune as he was swallowed up in the heat of battle. Every warrior was in combat in the makeshift battlefield of the town.
Suddenly a individual Gnoll took up his vision, the beast was wearing some weathered leather armor with a shoulder armor piece. The monster snarled and struck with a side swing with what appeared to be a sharp dagger.
But Jaune was ready to defend as he quickly parried the attack with his shield, leaving the savage beast wide open and off balanced. With his chance to take him down Jaune quickly sliced at the exposed rib area, slashing deep with his sharp sword.
The beast howled from the pain and tried to move, but the blonde was ready for the kill as his sword went across the neck of his opponent, ending the creatures life in that instant. With splatter of dark red blood matting his blade, the blond kicked still standing body to the ground.
With his foe dead, he looked around to see who in his platoon he could assist. Noticing the cries of agony from some of their soldiers as he saw some of his platoon taken down after being swarmed by a group of Gnolls and some Wolf Riders. Anger swelled up in him to see his fellow comrades that he had trained with all this time perish thanks to these beasts.
But that thought was quickly put on the backburner as those same attackers went to surround Jaune in a semi circle. Licking their chops as some held daggers, while others whipped their flails to ready an attack.
The blond solider got into a defensive position as the four monsters rushed him all at once. His blue eyes were on fire as he remembered his comrades that were attacked, he remembered their pained screams as they perished from these dirty dogs.
The blond used that anger to fuel his sword strikes. His blade met furred flesh as his powerful striking hand was fierce, quickly stabbing one of the dirty Gnolls in its wicked heart.
Another came to strike after Jaune took down their comrade, but the blond was quick to block the powerful blow, the metal spiked balls of a flail bashing into his shield thanks to his training.
He felt the power from that swing as his arm buckled. However Jaune's resolve kept his shield arm up as he was now being attacked by two others, his defense still holding from the assault of daggers, the blades only bouncing off of the strong steel of Jaune's shield.
Now that these foolish hyenas attacked without thinking or protecting themselves, leaving openings for the young man to counterattack as they cackled and thought he was easy prey.
That was where they went wrong.
Jaune showed these animals no mercy. From all the innocent people they have slaughtered from those other villages and the death of some of his comrades...
These mongrels don't deserve any mercy, only divine punishment.
With a battle cry his horizontal swings cut down both of the attacking Gnoll that attacked him. The final one of the group stepped up and swung its flail to the side, hoping to get past his defenses
However thanks to his training kicking in, with a practiced motion the man knocked the weapon out of the way with his shield. With his foe wide open he easily stabbed forward to pierce the monsters midsection, gutting the beast with his sword.
Jaune quickly kicked the corpse off of his sword with his boot, dark red blood coating his sword as the man focused back on the battlefield.
The blond noticed his comrades were starting to fight back harder. The Gnolls and pesky Wolf Riders were being slayed left and right as he kept watching his knight brothers starting to push back against these monsters. Individual arrows that were shot from rooftop snipers were taking down those green tiny terror's atop their feral furred steads, once the rabid dogs were without their riders they went to attack anything, thus being picked off by the stray arrows from the marksmen or on the end of a steel blade.
Groups of the monsters were fried or burnt to a crisp as the magi from the academy did their jobs either throwing out offensive spells or summoning their creations of stone gargoyles or golems, which either tore the beasts apart or crushed them into a dark red pulp.
After a couple of minutes the defensive held and started to make the monsters flee Dark Hollow as Jaune and the rest of the order were pushing the creatures back into the forest, with the archers and mages staying back to make sure they were protected.
"Don't let up men! This battle is not over." Captain Lucas shouted out.
How right he was, as suddenly an axe struck one of the knights mid movement. Jaune's eyes widened as he saw the man in armor crumple onto the ground, dead from the deadly throw.
"Head's up! We have Orcs and Ogre's incoming!" The loud roars of the monsters rang out as Jaune saw the ugly bastards all of their glory.
The green pig looking men with axes were the orcs, they were a nasty bunch with a ravenous appetite and a brutal throwing arm. They squealed out and snorted out, communicating to the remnants of their battered cannon fodder. They were taller than any normal human, but not too huge.
The Ogre's were a different story. They towered over everyone, their massive dark green bodies and giant wooden clubs screamed their savage lifestyle, as they also had bone necklaces of the many trophies they had as kills.
The leader of this band looked more intelligent looking as it had some armor with a skull belt on its waist, Its club having a horned skull on it making look like a magic staff.
But what caught Jaune's attention, and what definitely stood out was the object that was around the leader's neck. It appeared to be a shiny white gemstone that shined like the brightest diamond, giving off a slight glow even in this rainstorm in the forest.
"Humans!" The leader ogre roared out, pointing its sharp claw toward the group of knights. "Kill them!" Giving off the command as the leader raises his skull staff to the sky, the eyes of the skull glowing a blood colored red and letting out this strange energy around the battlefield.
"Steel yourself men." Lucas called out. "What we face now is something that will make or break us." With their captain saying that, many of the knights and soldiers saw the change in the air.
All of the monsters were effected by the magical miasma, their eyes changed to become a crimson red. The somewhat somber demeanor was now full of bloodlust and anger, as the former defeated group of Gnolls and Wolf Riders were more pissed off now than anything.
With the order sent out the Goblins and Gnolls went for another attack, this time out from a desperate anger state. Their bloodlust oozing out of every pour as they went blindingly to attack their armored foes.
Thus the battle continued as the knights fought back against the battle hungry enemy, swords, flails, and spears crashed against each other. While axes went flying into Jaune's comrades, the new roaring sound of the tall green giants warning the more experienced knights to dodge the powerful swings of the ogres. But some of the platoons soldiers and knights weren't so lucky as they were sent flying from the impact.
While the ogre's were only few in number, their strength as monsters showed as the giant club did some noticeable damage to everyone around them, powerful attacks that put a few good men down in their graves as the force of the assault put down the soldiers and even a knight or two from attack.
Luckily that included their Gnoll and Goblin Rider allies being apart of that display of carnage, the blood lusting animals were mowed down by their own giant green comrades as their screams and yells of pain mixed in with Jaune's platoon. These giant green monsters not caring if they killed their allies, only wanting to snuff out the lives of the order, no matter how many of their troops have to die.
Jaune was so thrown off by the display of the savagery it distracted him enough for him to be attacked!
A Black Wolf Goblin Rider went to lunge at the young man, the jaws of death nearly at his neck. The rabid beast tried its best to snuff him out, but he was able to defend himself with his shield at the last second before he was almost killed.
While he was able to escape death, the wolf charged into him, knocking him down on his back from the force of the tackle. In the fray, Jaune lost his grip on his sword, but was able to keep his shield in front of him before the wolf had a chance to claw and chew his face off, its claws scraping at his armored boots as it continued to try and bite at his face.
Thank the gods he was wearing plated armor, otherwise he would have been this wolf's dinner.
But this beast was the least of his worries right now. The blond warrior heard the insane growling of the goblin rider. The little green gremlin tried slashing away at him, roaring out in rage as it was slashing at his face. One nick hit him on the cheek, causing him to bleed and wince in pain from the bite of the falchion sword.
He needed to get out of this situation and fast, so with that said he quickly used his shield to bash the wolf away. The strike stunning the rabid wolf, but the goblin tried to jump and plunge its blade into head, Jaune saw the little goblin and quickly rolled away from the stab. In the ensuing dodge, he found the familiar shape of his sword from the ground.
He was able to return to his feet, shield in hand and sword in the other. Just in time for another lunge from the wolf, luckily he was ready this time and stepped towards the lunging wolf, his sword went through the wolf's gut as he finished it off with a brutal stab, the beast letting out a yelp before becoming limp on the weapon. However before he could relax he heard the sound of the goblin, the snarling green shrimp was running towards the blond with its weapon in hand. The blond soldier quickly shoved the wolf off of his blade, and with practiced movement quickly lunged and preformed a clean horizontal slash.
The attack finished off the emerald toad as Jaune's blade ate clean through the goblin's neck, decapitating the monster with dark red blood spurting from the headless body. With his opponent finally finished he noticed that his allies were still gaining the upper hand, defeating and vanquishing mostly all of the canon fodder and moving on to the Orc axe throwers.
Thought the battle was far from done for the future blond knight as two more wolf rider goblins showed up to attack him at once. While Jaune thought he was decent in combat, he didn't think he could take four threats on at once.
"I... I have to do something!" The two riders were closing in fast, about to assault the blond soldier.
However, before the first goblin rider could get to Jaune, a grey blur quickly took the enemy out of the equation. Jaune saw what saved him: A stone gargoyle
The miracle of magic and stone quickly snuffed out the rider by clawing the duo to death, the now bloodied creature letting out a battle cry.
The remaining Wolf Rider was going to attack the blond as well, but the quaking footsteps of a stone golem stopped the rider in its tracks completely. The last sounds the pair made was a terrified yelp they disappeared under the shadow. Jaune saw the aftermath as the pair were nothing but a crimson puddle of blood and guts. The blond winced a bit from that bloody carnage.
Gruesome deaths aside, it seems that their order was getting some reinforcements, as the blond noticed more flying stone gargoyles, swooping down to strike the cannon fodder and take some of the pressure off of the Captain and the other knights.
Thought while they were helping them clear the villages of these monsters, Jaune had to admit these magical creatures were a little... freaky.
They were creations of arcane magic and sorcery gave these creatures a disturbing human like face, their bodies have a humanoid shape but the characteristics of a harpy or griffin. They were definitely fearsome having their claws cut through flesh like a slick knife through melted butter.
The order solider then heard the thundering footsteps that shook the ground, he looked to his left side to see a couple of more Stone Golems speed walking into battle. The large creatures made of stone charged towards the bigger enemies such as the Orc axe throwers and their Ogre superiors.
They were truly a wonder from the Atlas Academy of the Magic Arts, powerful beings that protected the inner sanctums of the academy.
All of the knights of the Order of Ozmis saw the tide shifting in their favor, now that those mages decided to assist them it was time to finish things off. "Knights! Concentrate all of your focus on the Ogres and Orcs. They are the last part of this resistance, we take them down and then we celebrate victory!" Getting all of the platoon excited in a shout of motivation, thrusting his great sword in the air to show himself as a beacon of hope.
With their faith in the order and with their still numerous numbers, the knights were ready to finish off the remaining troops.
While the green axe throwers known as the orcs were tough fighters and even deadlier archers with their expert axe throwing. They were no match for this legion of metal wearing warriors, knowing the shift in this battle they promptly ran off into the deeper part of the forest, their squeals of panic filling the woods. Compared to the brainless Goblins and savage Gnolls, the pig man knew when they were beaten and when to fold. Their loyalties were never promised, only the promises of meat and gold were their prize if they succeeded.
But now all they saw in their future were an early grave.
"COWARDS! YOU STINKING SWINE WILL ROAST IN THE PIT!" The Ogre Magi shouted at the cowards that fled. The green giant saw all of his battle brothers being overwhelmed, multiple knights striking them down as they were promptly outnumbered. The leader gritted his yellow teeth, his rage taking over his senses as he ran towards the hopeless battle, hoping to kill these dirty humans for striking down his brethren.
Raising the battle staff and using the last of its rage magic on himself, he couldn't help but see red, roaring out a challenge as he now used his staff as a club. His massive strength, piled on with his anger made the ogre leader deadly, smashing through and muscling his way through towards his target.
The filth that lead these weaklings...
Jaune noticed the giant bashed his way towards his captain, his concern was growing as he noticed that Captain Lucas was focused on one of the last remaining ogres on the battlefield. Not seeing the raging monster coming from his blindside.
"CAPTAIN WATCH OUT!" The blond yelled out, getting the man's attention just in time for him to raise his great sword, blocking the powerful swing with all of his might. The Ogre's yellow eyes changed because of his Bloodlust Spell, making the leader a savage beast with orange eyes and only wanting one thing.
To kill anything in his path.
"Captain Lucas!" Some of the knights went to help the man, but the leader of the 5th Platoon growled out.
"Stay back men! I'll finish this beast off!" He announced, most of the monsters had finally been taken care of, leaving the leader the only one standing.
The power struggle ended quickly, as the experienced knight jumped back. Leaving the Ogre off balance from the move and leaning forward.
Lucas took advantage of his mistake, swinging his magnificent blade to finish this battle once and for all. The strike made its mark as the diagonal slash attack sliced through the green monsters skin. The crimson blood spilled out of the wound of the Ogre leader, letting off a howl of pain before hitting the ground with a thud.
Silence ran through the forest around them as some of the knights were searching for more monsters around to find out that there were no more to fight.
It was over, the monsters were defeated and the remaining creatures were being hunted down as they speak.
Dark Hollow was defended and the Order had won.
Cheers rang out from the knights, they had proven the order was strong today, that they were a force to be reckoned with and showed it in the heat of battle.
Jaune let out a hefty sigh and smiled. He walked towards the main group of knights and where his superior stood to celebrate.
Only to stop after he saw movement on the ground, his cerulean eyes widened as he noticed that while the others were celebrating and the captain was giving orders.
The leader of band of monsters was still alive! He was growling through a mouth full of blood, but still kicking as he slowly started to get up. With his war staff nearby and with the strength it had left, he was going to try and attack the captain in a desperation move.
Jeffrey saw the looming shadow above their officer and looked to see the ogre himself. "Captain!" He called out, Lucas turning around to see the monster about to strike.
"This... is where you die human!" His staff above his head to crush the captain's head.
However the before the staff crushed the leader of Rookshire's skull, the tall monster stopped immediately because of the most painful feeling in his chest, his body couldn't move because of it.
The monster looked down to see a sword had been run through chest, the tip of the blade visible with dark red blood adorning it. The ogre could only gargle and choke on his own blood, feeling the hands of death finally come and claim him.
He looked back one last time to see a tall young human man, his sword lodged through his upper back. The leader could only stare at the blond knight that was Jaune Arc in hatred. His eyes wanting to burn the filthy human into cinders.
Jaune saw the giant monster move its mouth. Trying to say some words, but all that was coming out were death rattles from the ogre magi, his eyes once full of fury and hatred started to dim once the blond saw his eyes.
The Arc removed the sword from his body, the ogre finally falling forward, dead as it started oozing blood on the ground.
All of the remaining 5th Platoon stared at the teen, causing him to freeze a bit from the attention. However that soon changed to cheering as they were impressed with the blond haired newbie.
"Glory to the new blood!"
"That's the way to stick it to the ugly troll Arc!"
"Rotten bastard got the ole sword in the back, way to go kid."
The knights and soldiers praising him, which made him a little bashful about the whole deal. He was just trying to do his job, the captain's life was in danger and he managed to step in when needed, no big deal.
"Arc." Jaune heard the gravely voice of his Platoon leader. As soon as he saw the man look in his direction his posture was a bit more straight.
"Captain Lucas, sir." Jaune still noticed a little scowl on his face, showing his embarrassment.
"I must thank you young man. While I could of taken the beast in combat, you were there to save me from any early grave from that sneak attack. For that I must thank you." Lucas explained.
"Just doing my duty captain." Jaune said with respect and poise. Looking like a true knight of the order already.
Though to be fair most of the fights Jaune was in his heart was in his throat, especially when those wolf riders started attacking and knocked him down. But he powered through, steeled himself to help the people of this town.
Lucas only nodded as he walked away. "Alright troops! Let's clear the bodies in the city and move on to the next town. They are going to need some help as well!" Lucas announced. "Carry the wounded and the dead back to the town, and we'll pack up in the morning." Jaune looked around the battlefield to see all of the aftermath.
Both sides were definitely put through hell, multiple soldiers and knights fallen to the sharp weapons of the enemy. Axes cut through some of the less armored soldiers, while knights in armors were either slumped on the ground or able to make it to the trees and bleed out.
"So many losses..." Jaune thought. He wondered how many of the soldiers that he trained with at Brookshire survived. Sure they weren't the best of friends, but they still went through the hellish training together. Camaraderie was starting to form between them.
But now... it could be way different.
"This battle was good one young lad. I saw you fought with honor and bravery despite it being your first time." Jeffery said proudly to the depressed looking blond, as he clapped his shoulder. "What's wrong lad?" The older knight asked.
"I... I feel like I could have done more to help out." Jaune pointed out, which got the brown haired man to shake his head at the young Arc.
"You can't go blaming yourself Jaune. This was your first battle, against these monsters no less!" Jeffery pointed to the corpse of the Ogre Magi leader near them. "Normal knights usually fight against bloaks like those Gnolls and Goblins for years. Usually you don't see Orcs or Ogres until you go later on in your career in the order, they are stronger monsters that give normal knights like us trouble." Jeffery explained.
"What are you getting at Jeffery?" The blond questioned.
"Lad... I'm trying to say you are definitely going to be knight material. "Jaune stared at the experienced knight with a gob smacked look on his face.
"Really?" Jaune questioned.
"On the Goddess Dragon's honor Jaune. Don't think I wasn't watching you fight." Jeffery explained. "I saw you topple those Gnolls and Wolf Riders with your skill, and they stood no chance against you. Keep that up kid and you'll obtain the rank you want in no time." Jeffery said.
"But they were just little lackies? What makes you think that would help my cause."
The brown haired knight just smiled softly, "It doesn't matter, you still showed the order your resolve. Your dedication to your training with the 5th platoon and with how you put extra training hours to improve yourself to rise above... Well it not only makes you stand out, but it motivates the other newbies to strive to become better fighters. That will definitely make you stand out to the captain."
"Plus, since you saved the Captains life today and took down this ugly bastard for good. That will put you in the good graces of our leaders." The experienced knight pointed out. "Now then, enough of this pity party Arc! Let's clean up the town a bit, gather some of the lads and get some drinks in us at the local tavern eh bud?" The experienced knight's attitude turning Jaune's spoiled emotions around, having the blond smile a bit.
"Yeah... yeah that sounds pretty good right now." Jeffery went first toward the town, but before Jaune took another step forward he felt some kind of... energy.
He looked back towards he felt the source, apparently the ogre leaders dead corpse was where he this strange feeling was coming from.
A strange golden white light, one that drew the blond man in. Jaune walked back to the body of the ogre, the closer he got the brighter the light was.
In fact its almost like he could feel the light, this feeling having a warm presence like a wool blanket. The blond noticed that the source of that bright light was on the ground.
It was that same crystal strung up on the leader's neck. Curiosity lead Jaune back to this little gem, his hand a little hesitant to grab the stone at first.
"What if its dangerous?" He thought, it could be a trap that the leader set up for any grave robber or thief, or perhaps it could have been a trophy from some collector or human researchers.
"Oh... I'd better take it to the captain if that's the case." Steeling himself, he touched the gem. The contact with the stone reacted accordingly, the light shining brighter to Jaune as he was enveloped by this strange energy.
"What in the dragon's name?" The energy in question wrapped around the Arc's body. The solider let out a gasp from this new sensation.
It felt... warm, like his whole body was enveloped by the ray of the sun. Like a cleansing light was taking any kind of darkness that was in his form, filling him with the radiant light the gemstone gave off.
This transfer of energy only happened in a few seconds, but to Jaune it felt like hours went by.
His body adjusting to the sudden absorption of the light. It didn't feel dangerous to him, but the tingling sensation definitely threw him off.
While the transfer of this power was only a couple of minutes, to Jaune it felt like he was in that light for hours. Feeling changes to his body, a certain strength that was not their previously.
For some reason he felt... invigorated! Like he was on some kind potion that helps with recovery and then pushed his strength to the pinnacle.
When the lightshow came to an end, Jaune felt his back against the ground, his eyes adjusted to see the trees covering the sky. It looked like the bad rainstorm cleared out of the area as the greyish clouds departed.
"What... was that?" Jaune thought, the blond was slow to get up, but when he did he quickly looked to his hands to feel that same warmth from before. "Whoa... what is this?"
His armored pauldrons held a glowing light to them, the same light that came from the stone. Jaune held the light energy in his hands, raising up his hands trying to control the unstable looking light.
The energy felt heavy in his hands, like a block of lead was in them. The blond put his all into raising this golden light in his hands as high as he could.
"Help them." Jaune jumped from hearing the soft whisper of what appeared to be an ethereal voice.
"Who's there?" Jaune whispered out, waiting for a response but got none in return for the moment.
He couldn't help but feel soothed by the tender voice, it was like the Goddess Dragon of Light, Niro, was speaking to him. He had heard that the order followed her as a deity and a guiding beacon against her dark brother. The light of human kind and other beings that followed have always battled against the being of darkness and its followers such as the necromancers and their armies of the undead.
"Bless my followers a second chance at life young Arc. With just a touch of my magical aura from the gemstone, you have the power of purity and light within you young follower. Please use these gifts well Jaune Arc." The voice finally ceased, leaving the blond in his thoughts.
Jaune said he wanted to do more, and if there was a chance that he could somehow help these fallen knights get their life back with this gift of new power? Then damnit he was gonna do it!
With a cry of effort, the energy shot everywhere like a fountain around the forest. Bursts of energy flew towards the fallen knights that were on the floor. The golden light bathing the corpses, entering their bodies and making them glow from the sudden magical power that Jaune had gained.
Glowing lights came from the sky to illuminate the ground, in a light show around the forest. The knights that had walked back to the town noticed this. Captain Lucas among them seeing the strange light show, curiosity filled him and his men as they quickly went back to the forest once more to see the commotion.
Lucas and the knights of the order couldn't believe what they were seeing right now.
Some of the former knight corpses and fallen soldiers were starting to rise, but not as the undead thralls of zombies or skeletons. The numerous resurrected men looked shocked from the experience of being brought back from the dead. Some were crying tears of joy from being given a second chance, others prayed to the goddess dragon for the blessing and others were still trying to comprehend the whole situation.
"Jeffery!" Lucas called over the knight, the man quickly went towards his leader to see what he wanted to say. "Did you see any of those bookworms follow us to cause this?" Referring to the mages that were assisting them in battle.
"No sir, not that I recalled, they were suppose to stay in the town with our range support." Which definitely caught the captain off guard from that little report.
Lucas knew that usual magic wielders like those mages could cast Resurrection, but he didn't think any of the ones that came to help defend the town were experienced enough to cast the spell. The years it usually takes to master this particular spell is quite numerous as the spell is one of light and not of the elemental kind. Usually the only kinds of people that could learn this were the Mages of the Solitas Academy, The Elven Druids of Saunus, and the rare Paladins of the Order of Ozmis.
So the question was... who was capable of doing this?
"Sir!" One of his knights shouted. "Its Arc! He has this... light coming from his body." Lucas looked towards the blond boy, his hands glowing in a glorious golden light. That definitely caught the older man off guard.
"Jaune? No way..." Jeffery whispered out. "When did he get this wonderful blessing?" The chattered continued on with the knights as they saw the boy's form start going back to normal, the glow dissipating and the blond soldier panting in effort from using such an advanced spell.
Jaune felt exhausted, like his energy felt drained out of his body. However the turn out from that big drain was definitely worth the exhaustion in his eyes, most of the bodies on the floor got back up from his light magic spell. When he executed Resurrection, he could feel a sort of strange light source coming from some of them. It was faint, but the spell was able to locate that light coming from their bodies and rejuvenate them, adding a sort of healing property to them so those souls of light could come back in full force, thus bringing those individuals back from death's embrace.
However, he did notice that certain bodies didn't have that light in them at all, which meant their souls and light were gone for good. Forever lost to the spells resurrection power.
While the blond was bummed he couldn't do more to save everyone, the miracle he preformed in front of the order showed that he was something special. As the blond could still feel the warmth of that light magic seep through his body like water, like a protective barrier was around him. He finally noticed all the other knights and captain returned to see this display.
But they were too stunned by his new powers to even make any comments.
Finally after awhile, all the other knights crowded Jaune. Wanting to cheer his name as he was named savior to most that were brought back to life. Others saw him as a future disciple of Ozmis himself, praising him as a Deacon or holy priest that talked to the gods and deities above.
But out of most of their lips, the word Arc, Paladin Of the Light Dragon was shouted out to the sky that day, showing to Jaune that his new stature was something of legend.
However... The trials ahead of the young man were far from finished, his platoon had a battle to finish.
And his fate in the Order of Ozmis just got a whole lot more complicated.
(End Flashback)
Jaune for some reason felt nostalgic from all of that, even if it did happen three months ago...
The conflict between the Ogres and Orcs, while short for conflict standards definitely felt too long in his standards.
However, thanks to his new affinity to light magic spells. New abilities were granted to him all thanks to that light gemstone.
Light Beams, Healing Light, and Celestial Armor were only the tip of the iceberg when it came to spells. Hell he even had a spell that could boost the fighting spirits and offensive powers of all of his platoon at his fingertips, but that wasn't the end of his magic learning.
The mages of the guild saw his potential, and along the way decided to teach him some very useful skills in the arcane arts that some of them could or couldn't use thanks to their lack of light magic affinity. Transportation portals was one of those skill.
In which sped up the defenses of each town against the monster that tried to raid them. Each time the 5th and 7th platoon needed to move, Jaune used his newly dubbed magic to assist the Order of Ozmis. Which left him with praise all around from the other knights of Rookshire and Knightgale.
At the end of the conflict, the campaign only took a months time to finally stop these attack from their happening fully. As the Order of Ozmis were setting up temporary garrisons to repel any kind of monster forces that would dare attack the defenseless towns.
Once the order put that in motion, it was time to finally put in end to these monster by stabbing at the blackened heart of their leadership. Apparently it was horrifying monster leading these attacks on these townspeople.
A Cyclops named Talamar the Red Eye. He had been missing ever since his disgraceful defeat against the order years ago, the one eyed monster decided to go into hiding, raising an army of weak Goblins and Gnolls at first, but ever so slightly had begun to recruit Wolf Riders, Orcs, and Ogres to his cause, emboldening himself as he decided to decimate the Northern towns of the Saunus Continent.
Thus mission after mission Jaune's Platoon and the 7th Platoon of Knightgale defended the towns from the evil creatures, slaughtering all who tried to destroy the towns. At the end of it all, the two platoons were able to find Talamar's secret Stronghold Castle, and bring him down once and for all.
The Knightgale Commander, General Peter Otto Port was able to defeat the Cyclops, beheading the vile monster and taking down the chain of the command, thus causing the remaining grunts to flee now that their leadership was no more.
Victory was sweet for the Order, as the villages and towns will no longer have to live in fear from these organized monsters. The townspeople were definitely thankful to the Order as they had now allowed churches and outposts to be built in those towns for the order to stay in.
It was partly because of the protection in case of another attack for those townspeople. But others wanted to give their thanks to the gods and goddesses that the order followed.
The blond thought everything was definitely looking up when they had victory...
However... that didn't mean there wasn't loss in the confrontations. Despite Jaune's new magic, he couldn't save everyone in his platoon. Sometimes he didn't have enough power to bring back fallen knights, and other times he had exhausted himself to the point of death by using his magic too much leaving him vulnerable for attack.
The losses weighted heavy on Jaune. Especially since one of the casualties was the great Captain Lucas.
The proud knight met his end thanks to one of the Cyclops leaders final reveals, unleashing what he remembered seeing in his home town called a "Stone Toad".
Large as a full grown drake and the form of a slimy toad. Jaune knew these beasts were trouble near his hometown as they sometimes attack when they were provoked or when someone gets too near their territory.
The platoon had to fight the mean bastard, The late captain led the charge against the monster. Jaune tried to warn the headstrong man about these horrifying creatures about what they could do, but his pride and arrogance had him ignore the newly dubbed Paladin.
If he did listen to the blond, the captain would have avoided the toad's tongue. As soon it captured him... it quickly swallowed Captain Lucas whole.
The Stone Toad didn't even chew on him, just ate him armor and all. The entire Platoon was horrified as the big monster quickly digested the man, the monster spiting out the remains of their leaders. Only his armored chest piece and a gauntlet was left from the attack.
While grief was felt among the platoon, they quickly shook off the shock and went on a blinding rage to kill the Stone Toad. Arrows and javelins were sticking out of the monstrosity, bloody slashes and flesh were ripped out thanks to the knights swords and maces to leave bloody gashes.
Though the creature was still alive, it refused to die from all of the damage it took. Luckily, Jaune fixed that with using one of his new magical techniques: A giant sunbeam attack.
The magical strike came down, like a divine punishment and roasted the monster to a crisp. After Jaune was finished, the only thing left of that thing was a burning corpse.
At least Jaune was able to avenge the man, but the damage was already done and Jaune wasn't able to resurrect him, much to the disappointment and grief of their platoon.
The final battle was definitely bittersweet for Jaune. While the leader of Rookshire was gone, the Order of Ozmis saw his achievements and contributions to the conflict during this ordeal, along with his newly found magical power that made protecting the towns and villages much easier.
The order decided to bring the young man into the ranks of knighthood and turn him into a Paladin Officer. A knight truly of high ranking status among the order.
To say the blond was surprised was an understatement, and at first he wanted to deny such a high ranking position as he didn't feel like he deserved to have it.
However it was Jeffery that convinced him to take the title. Explaining to him that this was definitely a once in a life time opportunity to become something amazing.
So with that said, Jaune took the title of Paladin Knight of Rookshire. Furthering his family name into the history books of the order. With his new ranking and title, the young man now had more options to him available as he could leave to other castles to stay and live in. If he chose to, he could be celebrated as a hero to some of the larger known cities by his deeds there, attracting attention and gaining favor to everyone around him as a symbol of light.
But the lad said he wanted to stay in Rookshire, explaining that he still had lots of training to do before moving on, and with his new title as Paladin Knight he would be a high enough rank to now lead everyone in the platoon. Plus this place was like a home to him, he wasn't going to run out on his brothers like that.
Though now as the highest rank there, Jaune definitely had some big boots to fill after the loss of Captain Lucas. Leading the entirety of Rookshire was definitely a scary task at first, but luckily help was on the way for Jaune.
When the order heard that the blond was staying to lead, the organization decided to send General Port from the 7th division of Knightgale to assist the Arc paladin in keeping the troops in line. The older man was definitely a breath of fresh air compared to Lucas, as Port always seemed to be in high spirits.
That said, the mustachioed man explained to the young man that until he deemed him ready to lead Rookshire, the paladin would be learning from him as 2nd in command. While Jaune was slightly bummed of this revelation, he let out a sigh of relief.
Moving up this fast in the order was a little nerve wracking, he was honestly glad the older man was acting commander for now.
But while that was all well and good for Rookshire and Jaune's sanity, the blond was now introduced into training of the likes that made his regular soldier routine look like child's play.
Double the sparring, double the strength training, harder weapons training, and not to mention his light magic practice and leadership learning on top of it all. Jaune was definitely feeling the pressure during these recent months, his body feeling like a wet noodle everyday, and all he felt like doing was going to sleep.
Nothing but his sheer willpower and perseverance pulled him through all of his trials. But after the hellish month of training, fighting for his life against the forces of evil, and learning the powers of light. Jaune realized that those three months really made a difference compared to him starting at Rookshire.
His trip down memory lane came to an end as the sound of wood striking wood was in the air. Two combatants fought in front of the armored wearing blond, testing their swordsmanship.
On the right was a new recruit that had signed up recently with Rookshire. He was a bit of a novice when it came to swordplay as he struggled to sword parry and fight back against his much more experienced opponent. That would definitely change once General Port and Jaune get done with his training with the rest of the newbies.
The other combatant however was a different prospect entirely. The young man was a squire in training, tanned face with freckles. Olive colored eyes with a tinge of orange to them and dark brown hair. The lad wore a white tunic with brown pants and boots to top it off.
Oscar Pine was his name. The teen was definitely advanced when it came to swordplay, because soon as they were in that sword lock. The squire quickly disarmed his opponent, knocking the training sword down, and pointing the tip at his sparring partner.
"That's the round!" Jaune said out, raising his arm to signal the end of the spar. "Gregory." Jaune said to the new recruit.
"Yes sire." The new blood stood at attention. Jaune sighed at the boy's enthusiasm.
He doesn't want to do this, but its for his own good.
"Your form was getting sloppy. You could have matched Oscar blow for blow in that last exchange if you didn't lose focus and loosen your grip on your weapon." Jaune lectured. This is just something he has got to get use to when being a new leader, especially if he was going to lead Rookshire and keep his fellow man alive. "You never loosen your grip of your weapon. If that would of happened on the battlefield solider, you'd be fresh worm food!" Making the young man flinch from the shout.
"My apologies Paladin Knight Jaune Arc, it will never happen again!" Gregory quickly said with a bow toward the blond. If the scolding didn't make him feel bad, then having the new recruits suck up to him and forcibly respect his title definitely feel worse.
Jaune didn't really care for the personal brown nosing from some of these upper crust newbies, he found the more hard working trainees just happen to listen better to advice compared to others, luckily Gregory didn't seem the sort and from his background that he told Jaune, he seemed like a good kid.
"You always remember that your weapon is your life soldier." Jaune explained. " The minute you lose that... your life is forfeit to whatever is in front of you." Jaune definitely felt somber as he looked up at the sky, it was something Jeffery taught to him the first day that he trained as a soldier.
He wished that his friend was still around, those damn necromancer... if only he was faster...
But Jaune shook off that memory, it wasn't proper to break down like that. Especially since he needed to continue his advice.
"Please to take this to heart Gregory. It can save your life when you are in the heat of conflict." The young lad nodded in confirmation. "Good." Now Jaune turned his attention to the winner of the spar and smiled towards the experienced Oscar. "That was an excellent spar from you squire, your form has definitely improved from the last couple of spars you have been in." Jaune praised, which definitely had the former farm boy blushing from praise.
"It was nothing sire... just trying to improve for the good of the order." Oscar bowed respectively towards the armored blond, and then turned to his opponent with his hand out. "Thank you for the spar Gregory, it was very enlightening." The tanned teen said politely. The other teen shook his hand and calmly went on his way.
"Nonsense Oscar, you got to give yourself some credit here, your swordsmanship is some of the best that I've seen from the new recruits." Jaune patting the young lad's shoulder and chuckling. "Shoot, you are definitely better than my sorry butt when trained under the late Captain Lucas." Jaune said.
The revelation caused the lad to look at the blond with a shocked look. "Really Jaune?" The boy asked.
"Oh yeah! In the beginning of my training as a solider, I got my ass handed to me constantly during spars." Jaune explained. "Couldn't wield a sword to save my life. But after I put myself through the hell that was my training, I was swinging with the best with them." Swinging an invisible sword to, going into his fighting form.
"But you Oscar and your sword skills?" The blond gestured. "I wouldn't be surprised if you become Knight Commander in no time. I mean Oum, I was lucky to be given the Paladin rank thanks to that gift from Niro. It would probably take me years to get to an officer position otherwise." Jaune explained, he still knew he wasn't the best fighter here.
He was no pushover though that's for sure. Especially being under the command of two great leaders in Lucas and Port.
"Sire! Its an emergency!" Their conversation was broken from a knight coming towards the duo
Jaune and Oscar turned to see one of the knights named Edwin on patrol duty. The guy was decent in sparring, but he usually took up archery because he was definitely more proficient with bow than with a blade. Both of them noticed the concerned look on his face.
"What's wrong Edwin?" Jaune asked.
"There's a lady of the church here from the town of Doremy...she didn't say anything, but she gave me a note saying that she needs an escort back to the town." The man explained. Which was definitely odd. She didn't think muted woman were allowed to become the voice of the gods because they couldn't speak the words of gospel.
It was definitely an unfair prejudice towards those that have certain issues like that, and it surely rubbed the blond paladin the wrong way. One of his sisters had trouble speaking because of a birth defect, but everyone still treated her like normal in his home town of Ansel when she wanted to be the voice of the gods. So why was it any different anywhere else around the nation?
Anyone should have the chance to do what they want, no matter the circumstances. So it was good to see that this particular place of worship wasn't pushing away people with that kind of condition.
"Alright, then lets find her a good escort. Wild Dire wolves are out here in the woods and I would hate for her to be attacked." Jaune ordered.
"Actually sire..." Edwin was a little sheepish for saying this. "She requested for someone of... your 'expertise'." Jaune raised a brow at that comment.
This was a strange request, why would lady want him in particular? Unless she was in need with dealing with any demons or the undead, a normal knight would suffice.
Something was wrong here, and Jaune would be damned if he accidentally sent one of his men to his death without context of the situation.
He let out a sigh, his breath being seen because of the chilly air now starting to come through, as the sun was close to setting soon. "Alright Edwin, I will see to it that she is escorted." Jaune said as he walked towards the front of the castle. "Oscar, since General Port isn't here right now. I will leave you to tell him of my absence when he comes back, tell the other knights that I will return soon." Doremy wasn't too far from Rookshire, so the trip won't take too long, bit it was going to be dark soon and he doesn't want to worry the others.
"Are you sure about this Jaune?"
"Positive Oscar, I'll probably be back by tomorrow and stay in town after I'm done." Jaune said, turning around and heading to the front. "Tell the others to be on watch, never know if the general will come back tonight or not!" He yelled out.
The gate entrance opened up for the blond to see the sister of the church. She was a short one with brown eyes and silky looking brown hair, with a radiant smile on her face. The lady waved her greeting and bowed her politeness.
"Greetings sister, I will be escorting tonight if that is your request." The woman in question nodded in enthusiasm, happy about the choice in her guard. "Alright then... let us make haste sister. Don't want to run into anything nasty in these woods here." Jaune pointed towards the path. Luckily he knew the path towards Doremy, so a map was not needed for the duo.
With that said the short nun put her hands together in a prayer towards the paladin. Going ahead of her escort, she had a spring to her step as she went down the gravely path, Jaune quickly following along as the duo made their way towards the town.
(Hours Later...)
The moon's pale face showed itself, as night was upon the Forest of Dire Wolves. The dangers of being in this forest was definitely the strong wolves that are created in this habitat. They are much larger than your average grey wolf and definitely more aggressive from what Jaune heard.
In fact... the blonde was actually surprised right now as he and the sister continued to transverse the forest with no trouble during their usual hunting times.
Light illuminated their way thanks to his affinity for it, thus all he had to do was raise his arm in the air and create a little light spirit to have some kind of light on them in the darkness. The sister continued to lead the way, despite Jaune's insistence and protests to stay behind him in case any wolves came to attack them.
Though with the pace that both him and the sister were going at, they weren't going to run into any Dire Wolves and make it cleanly into town in an hour or two more of traveling.
Which was definitely surprising to the young man, how could this young sister of the church keep ahead him and still have energy to go on?
He knew female warriors that would be too tired after a physical hell that was training their bodies. Yet here this lady of the church is able to keep up with an experienced knight and not have the slightest care of aggressive wild wolves that could feast on her in a second.
That... definitely set something off in his head. Usually sister's of the church don't really have anything to protect themselves with, not unless they practiced Light Magic. But from what he's gathered from some of the order members and some the abbots that he had talked to in town thanks to his magic training. Is that nuns can never wield light magic to harm others, they only use barriers or any kind of defense magic spells to protect and heal others.
However, Jaune tried to feel the energy of magic from the short brown haired nun earlier, but there was no warmth of light magic coming from her body. In fact... he felt a chill creep up his spine as he felt the total opposite of warmth of light.
It was cold... wicked...and it was sinister, like he was in the coldest mountains of Northern Solitas. Like he was reading the feelings of a demon or lich that was staring him down.
That was definitely one red flag he noticed. The other was definitely creeping him out as well.
The fact of the matter is that Dire Wolves should of attacked them by now, the sister and himself had just walked into the heart of their territory a couple of minutes ago, unless the furry creatures were killed, which they weren't as he could hear howling from a distance. Jaune would have to protect the short nun from at least three dozen of the wolves that have marked the area their territory.
There must of been a reason they hadn't attacked them, sure Jaune was strong with his light magic, but he was no Seraph warrior that could make miracles. No he was just a normal man with magic.
So if it wasn't for him... it meant that the wolves were scared of something else, and the only other thing that was in this forest...
The thought made him stop in his tracks, getting the small nun's attention as she noticed that her light source wasn't moving forward.
"I just have to ask a question sister." Jaune breaking the silence of their trekking as they stopped in the middle of the woods. The woman looked towards the man and nodded her head.
"Now I might still be a novice in feeling light magic around me, but I can still feel it around my whole body and the surrounding area that we are in." Jaune explained, "I was told that usually sister's of the church use the same magic I do. But I don't feel that any kind of warmth that light magic has on you." The brown haired sister just looked at him funny.
"In fact... I feel an evil energy from you." Which got the nun to widen her eyes in surprise. "Comparable to a demon or an archdevil, that kind of malice. Which should not be possible if you were really were a real nun." Jaune pointed out, the young man quickly unsheathed his sword, with his kite shield on his other arm in a defensive position. "Plus, we haven't been attacked once since we got here which is definitely not normal." He finished
"So that being said... Who or what are you really?" The blond demanded, not messing around. "Because from what I have been feeling right now, you are no nun and you are definitely not human from what I've been sensing. So spill."
The brown haired 'nun' crossed her and let a little smirk, raising her eye in intrigue.
"Guess I have to give Cinder credit, she was right about you being better blondie~" A sensual sound voice was in his head, certainly freaking out the paladin from the sudden intrusion into his headspace.
Was she brainwashing him? Hypnotizing him? If she was, he needed to stop her.
"Oh relax white knight. I didn't lead you here to take you over." The sweet voice said, his blue eyes staring right into the brown eyes of the nun. "That's it handsome, its been little old me whispering sweet nothings in your head~" The nun's form twirled as crimson energy enveloped her form.
After a couple of seconds, the form of a short woman with black wings, curved black horns, and a spaded black tail came out as Jaune observed. Her brown hair turned half pink, her eyes split from both being cocoa brown to one being a light pink, with the white of her eyes turning from white to black sclera.
His cheeks also found red a wonderful color as he also noticed that the woman was barely wearing any clothes, having a sort of pink, white, and brown battle bikini that barely held her massive breasts and some fishnet stockings that showed plenty of skin.
This lady... no this demon was one he read in the books of knowledge when he was training to become a leader.
She was a Succubus, stealer of life energy from the engagements of sex. They were tricky demons that many men, including knights, fall for. Unfortunately that was the end of most when they used their dark magic to control, hypnotize, and drain their life from the tingling pleasures of sex. However, you could fight them off with Mana Charms of Light to counteract their dark magic or have the upper hand if you're a adept light magic user to block out their alluring energy of control.
Jaune was fully prepared as he whispered a chant, his form feeling the warmth of the goddess fall upon his form. He casted a spell called Celestial Armor, which was able to resist dark magic for awhile, definitely enough time to slay this bewitching demon.
"Why are you following me? To kill me?" His tone having an edge to it, questioning with his sword in front of him ready to fight her off.
"Calm yourself prince charming." The succubus named Neo raised her hand to placate him. "As much as I want to...extract that delicious smelling virgin energy from you~" She said in his head with a burning, lusty tone as both her eyes glowed in hunger. "That's not why I am here right now."
"Then why are you here?" The blond questioned, avoiding the embarrassment of just being called out.
"Well since I have a big sister that won't shut up about you. Their is actually a catch as to why I am here." Neo explained. "Do you recall that chronic ass kicking that you received from that cat girl months back in my mother's colosseum?" The succubus brought up.
How could he forget? Jaune didn't even stand a ghost of a chance against that beautiful Gato warrior. Her movements were quick, agile, and precise. He was just greenhorn at the time, with no types of training at all. Just had a sword and shield with some hand me down armor, and a dream to gain some fame.
Well he got that fame... for being absolutely pathetic in the ring. She beat him good, and she treated him like a joke. Thank the dragon goddess he got some training, otherwise he probably would have stayed a failure for most of his life.
"Yes... I seemed to remember." Jaune gritted out, not liking that particular subject brought up.
"Well... it seems that kitty wants another fight from you in the ring." That definitely got his attention. "Seems she wants a challenge from now illustrious Paladin of Rookshire." Which definitely made him nervous, how would she know that?
"Word travels fast white knight." She mentally said to him, reading his thoughts. There was no way she would know, unless...
"Stop reading my mind." Jaune narrowing his eyes at the demon woman, which only got a giggle out of the Succubus.
"Why should I? Your head is a open book that is worth reading." Neo said, her saucy smirk giving Jaune some flush cheeks as to what sort of... naughty thoughts were given. "But despite fun little thought. I was here to give you that invitation back to the Lustful Colosseum and to await your answer if you were to return to our lovely arena. So... what will it be Paladin?"
A few seconds of silence filled the air, the only sound of noise was Jaune putting away his weapons and the breeze through the forest.
"No thanks."
"Well good... wait... what?" That was an unexpected answer.
"I said no." Jaune repeated. "Honestly there is no point in trying to fight to regain my fallen pride. I don't need a revenge match to prove that I am stronger fighter." Jaune replied.
Well... this wasn't the answer that Neo wanted. She needed to find a way to convince him, the last thing she wanted was her sisters bickering as to why this dope didn't show up.
"Hmph... guess the great Paladin of Rookshire is nothing but pathetic coward afraid of being embarrassed once again. What would your knights say about you backing down from a challenge?" The brown and pink haired demon taunted.
"I know what your trying to do demon, and its not going to work." Jaune retorted, familiar with type of goading. "You can talk about my pride all you like, but I know what I am to my troops. A growing leader that they need, so you can keep me out of that tournament if that's all you have for me. Their word of mouth mean more compared to your lying tongue." He finished as Jaune began to turn around to leave Neo, trekking back to castle Rookshire.
However it seemed that the multicolored Succubus wasn't done talking.
"Ha. Such a shame, and here I thought you'd be interested in the reward once you won." Neo let out with a shrug of her shoulders.
Which caused Jaune to blush in embarrassment. "I will never do something so disgusting like that to living being, especially to a respectful warrior like her!" He was slightly frazzled from Neo when she said that comment.
"Oh? So you're not interested in 'THAT' kind of reward?" She giggled out as Jaune was turning to leave again to get away from this teasing wench. "Well if you aren't looking to lose that virginity and make your future progeny, then my mother has a special prize for you."
"Not int-"
"What if I told you we have a map of artifacts. Arcane magical treasures that could improve your light magic so much that even gods would tremble."
That comment stopped Jaune right in his tracks.
That... definitely was a tempting offer. He was always looking to improve himself even more with his light magic. Of course he would never try and insult the gods by becoming one himself.
He wanted to become a powerful warrior to make his family and troops, a proud and noble one, and if he could use those artifacts to keep evil from spreading across the land.
But... he wasn't fully convinced here. "How do I know you not just lying to me?" Jaune narrowing his eyes at Neo. "Why wouldn't you just take these thing yourselves if you already know their locations?"
"Well... thing is you don't know." The succubus said. "But, mother is always keen on keeping her promises." Neo then shivered as she felt a little cold. "Plus we as followers of the dark magic can't touch those nasty light artifacts. Too much exposure will make us feel fuzzy and weak. So we don't want those nasty trinkets, but surely the noble Paladin such as yourself would want these wonderful prizes?" Neo said.
"And all you have to do sweet little knight~" Her voice being breathy, making his spine tingle. "Is defeat your former opponent, and all these magical trinkets are yours." Neo finished. Letting the explanation all hang out
"So noble Paladin, what do you say now. Will you accept the challenge or lose your nerve?" The saucy Succubus asked, the ball was now in his court.
This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity here! Just the thought of even one of these potential artifacts in his hands that could further help him along or maybe given him new techniques through obtaining these artifacts.
Jaune could only learn so much with the order, the knight needed to make strides on his own. Sure it was risky to trust this literal sex demon.
But sometimes you needed to take a leap of faith in order to find your way.
He sighed as he looked the sexy Neo in her heterochromia eyes. "Alright... I will accept the feline warriors challenge." Jaune finally answered.
Neo clapped her hands and gave off an eye closing smile. "Excellent!" The succubus cheered internally, she had him hooked now and its time to reel him in. "The Colosseum will be open in two weeks time, and you already know where mother's arena is located." Neo turned around, bringing a sway to her hips to give him a show as she walked away. "We expect to see you there when the time comes handsome." With her message now sent and her orders finally followed through, the shortstack Succubus disappeared into the brush, finally leaving the blond alone in his own thoughts.
Going to that colosseum was definitely going to bring back some bad memories. He wanted to move forward with his life, not get involved in deals with demons.
"Its just for the artifacts..." He told himself, after he was finished with that he was done with these horrible sex demons.
"Well... that was a wasted escort." Jaune sighed out looking at the moon. He started to walk north, taking his armored self out of the woods, and hopefully close to Doremy.
With that draining conversation, a nice warm bed at the an Inn in Doremy was just what the Paladin needed. "Might as well stay there for the night before coming back. Just hoping they have room for tonight." While that little meeting was over, he couldn't help but feel there was more to it than just the match.
Call him crazy... but this just felt like one big trap to him. Like this is some kind of set-up that was meant to lure him, Jaune should know better then to trust some random demon, especially a manipulative and crafty one like a Succubus.
But... he decided to deal with that when the time comes. The training he did along with practicing with the troops made him too tired to care right now.
All he wanted right now is to get some food in his belly like some soup or stew and then head straight to sleep, preferably on a nice comfy bed.
He just hoped he didn't have to fend for himself in the cold tonight.
And SCENE!
So this chapter was actually something I wanted put in. I know its not the smutty goodness that I promised from the previous chapter, but I wanted to give some kind of background chapter to Jaune to show his growth from his pitiful battle against Blake from their last encounter.
Plus...this story was going to be some plot here and there along with the smut. Its just how I roll when I make it.
So if you were hoping for just straight up sex... sorry I like putting some plot in between.
But don't worry your pretty little heads readers, next chapter we are definitely getting some smutty goodness.
So how did you like the chapter? Was it good? Was it bad?
I wanted to give Jaune some power and I thought him growing as a warrior for a knightly order was the way to go. Him being a Paladin with the ability to control Light Magic was just perfect for him.
By the way, if you want to know what kind of Fantasy World I am referencing. Most of the powers and references are from a PC game series called Heroes of Might and Magic.
Old series that I think is fantastic and I highly recommend playing.
Anyways that is it for this chapter! Next up its time for the rematch against the Gato Warrior and The Light Paladin in the Colosseum of Lust, who's gonna win?
Well you'll have to stick around and find out!
Like, comment, and review for more, and if you have any more questions, DM me and I will try to get back to you as soon as I am available.
Well with that I'm signing off, this is Irongiant9000 and I'm catch y'all in the next chapter!
Next Chapter...
Chapter 3: Knightshade Knockout
