Hedge's alarm goes off, which wakes everyone up. They all get out of their beds and head off to shower and get ready for the mission. They all walk out onto the courtyard of Beacon to their airship.
Hedge shows his scroll with the mission details to the pilot of the ship. "Northeast just outside the kingdom, huh?" The pilot reviews the list of missions active today and confirms Team HAZL. "Everything checks out here. Get in, should be just a few minutes to drop you off." They all get on the ship and fly off to the location set for the mission.
They arrive shortly after to an abandoned city. They jump out of the ship, Hedge slowing his descent with his hover shoes, Anne landing with the head of Piko and cartwheeling forward to land, Zion lands by shooting a shot from Shadow to slow his descent, and Leonidas glides down with his wings. There are lots of destroyed buildings and nothing being heard at all once the airship flies away.
"Well, we're here." Zion states and looks around, loading a gravity bullet to replace the one he used to land with. "Now what?"
"We should probably find a place to bunker down in, but should also be on the lookout for Grimm." Anne grasps onto Piko tighter as they walk further towards the destroyed buildings.
A few hours go by. They clear out some of the surrounding buildings of small Grimm.
Grimm Howls in the distance.
Hedge: "Beowolves. Sounds like a pack nearby." Sure enough a few of that pack came around the corner of a building in front of Team HAZL. Anne, Leonidas, and Zion got into fighting stance, but Hedge sticks his hand out in front of them. "Let's not be too hasty. Let them make the first move." The others still stay in their fighting stance but they wait for the Grimm to make their move. The leader of the pack looks up from the ground and spots them, growling at first then howling loudly to announce the attack, which also attracts other nearby Grimm to join them. Ursas, King Ursas, Alpha Beowolves, Boarbatusks, and Griffons surround the team.
Zion: "Well, this just got interesting. What's the plan, boss?" Hedge takes Chaos and Destruction out of their sheaths and starts to electrify them.
Hedge: "Remember your training, and call on for help if things get rough." Zion looks at Anne and Leonidas, who also look back at him, knowing that the true test of this mission is to use teamwork, but instead they look back at the Grimm around them. They reply, "Got it." They each jump to a group of Grimm, while Anne fires off a rocket from Piko's launcher form to a group of Boarbatusks, before jumping in with Piko in its hammer form.
Hedge blocks some strikes from some Beowolves with Chaos and Destruction, which electrifies the Grimm due to his semblance. While those Grimm are hindered by the status effect of the lightning, he cuts them down with his swords. He also activates lightning spears around him and above him to protect from all around. He points Destruction at one of the Alphas, and has Chaos in a ready-to-strike stance over his shoulder, moving Destruction in a beckoning position to the Alpha. The Alpha sees this, howls loudly, and jumps at Hedge. He sends off a few of the lightning spears around him to the Alpha, which is blocked by its massive arms, but Hedge activates his shoes to jump high at the Alpha to strike it down with a piercing strike from Chaos.
Hedge: "Too easy."
Leonidas fights against the Griffons, having a dogfight with them in the air. While in flight, he strikes down some of them, while also weaving around direct strikes. He activates his semblance to gain the extra range slashes with Omega, dispatching some of them out of the air from afar. When some of them get too close, he uses his wings to blast them down to the ground.
Leonidas: "Zion! Above!" Zion hears his teammate and sees some Griffons being launched down to him, he aims with Light and Shadow and shoots them all down.
Zion: "Just like skeet-shooting." He then turns his attention to the Ursas and King Ursas around him, morphing Light and Shadow to their sword forms. He dashes around them slicing them and morphing them back and forth to land pod shots on them. Leonidas lands next to him.
Leonidas: "Better start working on team attacks now." Zion looks around at the remaining Ursa around them.
Zion: "Pick me up and fly above them. I got an idea." Leonidas looks at Zion for a second, then realizes what he is planning. He grabs a hold of Zion and they fly up high. Zion morphs Light and Shadow back to pistol form. "Time to break this out." He combines his pistols together into a sniper mode, Light taking the front half. While Leonidas flies around, Zion looks down the iron sight and shoots the high caliber ice shots at the Ursa, which pierces through the Ursa's tough skin and freezes them from the inside. He yells out to Anne. "Anne! Break them down!" Anne runs over to where the frozen Ursas are and jumps high to slam down Piko in between the group, shattering them.
Leonidas and Zion land back down next to Anne.
Zion: "Aerial Superiority?" Anne and Leonidas look at each other, and then shrug, indicating that it's a suitable team attack name for Leonidas and Zion. They look over to Hedge, who is still fighting against the Beowolves. Hedge slashes at a Beowolf, killing it, while the last Alpha is about to strike at him. Before it can, it gets frozen in front of him, having been shot from Zion's sniper form. Hedge cuts the head off of it, causing it to disperse in black smoke. He deactivates his semblance and sheathes Chaos and Destruction, nodding at Zion as a form of thanks for the save. Zion nods back and detaches Shadow from Light. They walk up to Hedge. "Don't have all the fun without us, Hedge. We're a team, and the main goal of this mission is to work as one." He places his hand on Hedge's shoulder.
Hedge sighs, "Let's set up camp. We might be dealing with lots of those the whole time of the mission." Hours pass by, with them clearing out all of the nearby Grimm, well aware it won't stay like that. They find a building nearby with good lookout points to cover all around them, and they grab some wood for a fire. "Who wants to take first lookout?" Zion raises his hand to do so. "Good. Everyone else, eat your dinner, get some rest. We'll need to stay energized if we'll be dealing with hordes that large again." They all stay quiet, but they all get to work on making the fire. The night continues, Zion taking first watch, then Anne, then Leonidas, then Hedge. When Anne is on watch, she looks over to Hedge sleeping.
Anne: "Something's not right with him." She shrugs it off for now and continues her watch. "Hopefully it's not too drastic."
