However, even though Mike's employees work their very best to sell and profit the clothing that they make, there was one who has been working her absolute hardest since the day she was hired by Mr. Smith himself. She's a ruby red-haired fair skinned female worker who has always dreamt of working in the clothing business, her name is Zoey Roth. Over the years, Zoey has done her very best to help the company and to everyone around her, she is an amazing asset to the company but is also a very caring person to have as a friend.

"You know, ever since I began working here over 5 years ago, I have done my absolute best to help this company be as successful as it is today. Zoey soon began to ponder about what her boss told her and the other employees 6 months ago, "Mr. Smith did say that he was looking to promote someone 6 months ago, I wonder how much longer he's going to make us wait…" As Zoey was still pondering, there was then a knock on her door. "Hmm? Coming." Zoey quickly stood herself up before opening the door, seeing her boss, Michael Smith, or towards a few people around him, Mike, standing right in front of her.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Roth. How's the sell been lately?" Mike said in a kind tone as Zoey responded back in a similar tone, 'OH, Mr. Smith! Hello there. They've been doing just fine, thank you for asking.' Zoey smiled a bit while her face slowly began to fluster after seeing her dark tan boss smiling at her wholesomely. Truth be told, for some time now, Zoey has been falling for her own boss, since he's been always so kind towards her a lot and he's always been there whenever she needed some help with something in the past. Mike smiled back before replying back, 'I'll call you into my office as soon as I'm done. Until then, you enjoy the rest of your day." Zoey nodded as Mike soon left her work office and resumed checking up on the other employees while she then sat down on her chair and sighed calmly, "I hope things goes smoothly with him, I just don't want to sound too cocky and greedy about this…" Zoey then got back to work as she began answering calls from different customers. About an hour soon passed by, Zoey was speaking with another customer on the phone until she got a knock from one of her co-workers, named Matt. 'Hey Zoey, Mr. Smith wants to see you. He told me that you wanted to speak with him about something.'

"Oh! Okay then. Thanks for the heads up, Matt." Zoey said cheerfully before finishing her call with the customer as she then exited out her office and began heading to Mike's. Zoey took a deep breath in before sighing slowly, "Okay, this is it. You got this, Zoey." Zoey continued to calm herself down towards her boss's office before she soon made it and slowly opened the door, seeing Mike sitting on his chair, checking on a few files about the company. "Um… Mr. Smith?" Zoey calmly called out to her boss before he soon looked up from his laptop, seeing Zoey standing in front of him. 'Ah, Ms. Roth! Please come in, have a seat.' Mike said as Zoey then entered his office and sat down in front of his desk. "Thank you again for meeting with me, sir. I hope it's not a bother though." Zoey politely said before Mike replied back, "Of course not, Ms. Roth. I always have time to speak with one of my employees, especially one of my best. Though I'm not trying to sound like I'm playing favorites, I'm just being honest hehe.' Mike chuckled a bit while his face began to blush. "Hehe, well again thanks." Zoey said while blushing a bit herself before she soon relaxed herself and began speaking to her boss. "Now then… Mr. Smith. You know I've been a loyal and hard-working employee for your company since the day you hired me, right?" Mike nodded before replying back, 'Of course, Ms. Roth. Over the years, I've seen a fire in you that hasn't burn out since then. You're passionate about your work and you always treat everyone around you like a good person. Honestly, this company wouldn't be here without workers like you!'

Mike smiled again at the red haired employee as she blushed once again but still did her best to remain professional around her boss. "Hehehe, thank you very much, Mr. Smith." Once Mike overheard what Zoey said, he looked surprised by it before she continued on with her claim. "Look, I'm not trying to say I'm better than anyone nor am I trying to sound greedy or cocky at all. I just believe that a promotion would help the company since I want to try to make things even better than ever!" Zoey was then finished with her claim as Mike still looked at her with a surprised look before regaining his train of thoughts as he soon said, 'Well… Ms. Roth, I do believe that you absolutely deserve the promotion. You truly have been working harder than anyone I've ever seen in the past five years; you are an amazing employee to have in this company.' Zoey felt her heart skip a beat with every single word of encouragement and appreciation she heard… before Mike sighed and said, 'But… I'm very sorry to say this. But I have to decline your request for a promotion.'

With that single sentence, Zoey widened her eyes in complete shock, feeling as if a boulder just crashed her entire world in an instant. While Mike looked a bit concern before she soon stood up and said while looking extremely annoyed. "What!? Mr. Smith, you just said that I am an amazing employee and that I've been working harder than anyone. I don't understand, why say all of those wonderful things and just refuse my request for a promotion?" Mike could see the annoyance, frustration, and disappointment in Zoey's eyes as he soon got up from his chair, looked at the site of the city before finally giving Zoey a respond. 'There are people on the board that believe that women shouldn't be promoted higher, but I also didn't want to play favorites, like Vince McMahon or Dave Harken from Horrible Bosses for example.' Once Mike was finished, Zoey yet again looked completely shocked and annoyed about what Mike just said before responding back, "Seriously!?" Mike nodded and said, 'Yes. I know it sounds completely ridiculous but that's the honesty truth, Ms. Roth. If it were up to me, I would have given you a promotion sooner than before. But still… I don't want anyone to think I'm playing favorites with you.'

Truth be told once more; Mike has been falling for the red haired employee for sometime now. She has been nothing but amazing to the company, but she also has been quite a good friend him whenever they chat towards each other.
