Chapter 4: An Unexpected Spar
Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackon or Heroes of Olympus nor any of the characters in this story. Also, there will be a bit more time between Percy's arrival and the quest.
Percy's POV
Once Percy got to the mess hall with Reyna she motioned for him to stand up there with her but about to the side he obliged quietly. As everyone filed into the mess hall he was stunned at how many demigods there were and a bit fearful at how many weapons there were that could be attacking him in an instant.
Once everyone was there Reyna announced, Romans welcome our newest recruit Perseus Jackson Son of Neptune. Juno herself arrived to introduce him. Reyna looked at Octavian and asked "Is he favorable" to this Octavian responded saying "Yes he is welcome here."
With that, Reyna asked, "will anyone here stand for him?" Gwen from the fifth cohort immediately stood for him saying "he saved two of my legionaries i will take him." And so Percy joined the fifth.
Reyna's POV
I was in the Principia waiting for Nico to arrive for our meeting, Aurum and Argumentem were on either side of me which relaxed me.
I was signing some paper when I heard the door open and saw the ambassador of Pluto in front of me. He was sweating profusely obviously nervous.
I gestured to the chair in front of me and he sat. I looked at him for a minute and he stared right back not giving away anything. I finally broke the silence and asked "What caused you to react so much when you saw Percy? Nico sighed and responded "I guess it's no use lying so, I know Percy. He is one of my best friends practically my brother, but he shouldn't be here."
I looked at him questionably after a minute he continued "Percy is a demigod just not … from this pantheon necessarily, Percy is a Greek son of Poseidon, and the reason I was so surprised when I saw him was because he should be at their camp training with them. Obviously there has been a switcheroo between Jason and Percy probably by Juno"
My mind was officially blown at this point and after digesting all this information my head snapped up and I asked "You said you knew Percy are you a Greek demigod?" He nodded in confirmation.
I sighed and said "Okay you can go I don't think I can handle more of this right now, but don't tell anyone about this. "Okay," he said before leaving.
Once the son of… I guess Hades left I decided I needed to do something active and start thinking straight so I gathered my gear and made my way to the arena to train.
Time skip after dinner
Percy's POV
After dinner, as we were walking back to the barracks I learned that it was free time and asked Frank where I could go and train. Frank directed me to the training arena, I thanked him and went that way.
Once I got there to my surprise and joy no one else was there. I found a dummy and took out my pen and uncapped it and immediately a bronze sword appeared in my hand.
Soon I went to town on the dummy practicing all my moves and just letting muscle memory take over for this session. After about an hour I was drenched in sweat and needed some water.
I found a cooler and got some water out of it, drinking some and pouring the rest on my head immediately feeling more energetic and ready to go again. Just as I was about to start again I heard my name called behind me by a familiar voice. I turned to see Reyna there. I lowered my sword as I saw her and took in her beauty once more it never got old seeing her. I said "Hey" and asked, "I'm not in trouble, right?"
Reyna just laughed and said, "No I came here to train as well want to spar some?" I happily obliged, wanting to get some more practice in.
Reyna went over to the shed that had some spare weapons and took out a gladius. I looked at her confused and asked "You don't have one of your own?" She responded, "No, I used a spear and a dagger." She took them both out and showed them to him. I nodded in understanding she wanted some sword practice which I understood.
Nobody's POV
They both took out their weapons and circled each other both formulating plans on how to attack Percy struck first which Reyna parried and went for a counterattack which Percy blocked.
They went on and on parrying strikes looking for a weakness in the other when Percy feinted with his sword and Reyna fell for the trick. Percy had riptide right by her neck when all of a sudden she kicked his feet out from beneath him and put her sword to his neck and a knee on his chest so that he could not move.
Percy laughed at his defeat which confused Reyna as he said "I yield". Then for some unknown reason to Reyna, she bent down and kissed Percy on the lips, but after a second of surprise, Percy kissed back.
When they finally broke apart both of their eyes were wide and they were blushing profusely. After a second Reyna got off Percy in silence, both of them confused about what had just happened. Percy was surprised this had happened. He didn't dislike it; he was just surprised after a second Percy broke the silence, being careful with his words, saying "Not that I disliked that but why did we just kiss?" Reyna answered saying "Honestly I don't know but I did like it." She said as she walked away to her praetor house and Percy, still confused, walked back to the fifths barracks. Both with huge smiles on their faces.
