The Gladius

Also in this story instead of flying to Alaska, they chose to go by boat and Tyson has already picked up Ella from the Zhang mansion.

Percy POV

I was sitting in the boat with Hazel and Frank they were only an hour from Alaska the home of Alcyoneus. I was looking at the sword I had received yesterday from my father, it was beautiful a celestial bronze gladius named Aestus Latin for tide. It seemed like only yesterday my father Neptune had visited me in my dream.

Flashback

Frank and Hazel had just woken up as Juno and Neptune had departed from the boat. Once they woke up Frank looked at me in awe saying "Wow Percy you look different almost more Roman" I looked down at myself and noticed my muscles were more defined and as I stood up I realized I was taller like 6'0. After I finished looking at the changes that occurred Hazel said "Why don't you sleep for a bit we will keep watch" Percy nodded and lay down in the back of the boat.

Dream sequence

That's when he entered his dream. He looked around and noticed he was in a room with walls made of coral and pearl it was beautiful with tapestries on the walls depicting the god's battle against the Titans and the giants as he was taking all of this in he heard "Perseus welcome to Atlantis" he turned to see his father Neptune he immediately bowed to his father who just chuckled and said "rise my son you do not need to bow to me". Percy stood and realized he was in the water. I looked at my father and asked "Not to be rude but why am I here?" "Ah yes my father said I have a gift for you." I was surprised by this, seeing as just a bit ago he had blessed me by making me a Roman. Seeing my confusion he started smiling before he continued saying yes a gift and some knowledge about your powers, but first your gift" he reached out his hand and said may "I see Riptide" I obliged and drew my pen out of my pocket and placed it in his hand. Once he held it he took the cap off and it transformed into a beautiful sword. He looked at it for a minute before saying "I know this sword is important to you, you have been on many journeys with it defeated many monsters even if you do not remember them yet. It also has some of your friend Zoe Nightshade's essence in it." As he said Zoe's name all my memories of her came back to me I remember her telling me about the sword. After I had digested all that I remembered Neptune continued saying " I know you would not cast away this sword nor would I ask you to. So I will change its form into a more Roman weapon as well as its name. "Henceforth it shall be known as Aestus", as he said this my mind instantly translated it to mean Tide. Aestus glowed for a moment and once the glow faded in my father's hands was a beautiful Gladius. He handed Tide back to me. "Now that we are through with your gift I must talk to you about your powers," He said. As a Son of Posidean, you had much more power over the sea then you did your other elements such as your earthshaker abilities and storms. Now as my son your control and strength of control over the sae will not decrease actually you can still make them stronger, but your earthshaker abilities will come more naturally to you and be easier to use. You have also been known to make a small hurricane around you in fights you will be able to do this now and it will drain much less energy and be a much stronger and larger storm. I smiled at all these new things I was learning. "I must leave you now but one word of advice make sure you practice all these new powers and swordfighting you have been resting for a while you may be a bit rusty and you have a new weapon. Continue to make me proud Perseus." He stood up and hugged me and then my dream faded to black.

End of Dream Sequence, Still a flashback

Once I woke up I told Frank and Hazel all that had happened to me in the past few hours and they seemed surprised but when I brought out Tide they seemed in awe of it, and that's when I noticed a line on it, it was water and I tested something and water shot out of the end of Tide. I smiled and wondered what I could do with this in battle.

End of Flashback

Once I finished my flashback I looked and saw land in front of us and knew that was where we needed to go I willed the boat to go faster I looked back to see Hazel throw up over the side I grimaced feeling bad for her, but knew it would be better for her the sooner we got to land.

Once we got to land Hazel took the lead and gave us a tour of the town she had once lived in and took us to a place we could stay. Once there we booked a hotel room with some money we found in the bottom of the boat (thanks Dad) and got settled. As we were sitting on our beds (the couch for me) I broke the silence by saying "Okay we have one day to get to Hubbard Glacier and free Death. We know Alcyoneus will be there and he will try to stop us from freeing Thanatos, so once there we need to figure out what is trapping him there and free him, and we need to kill the bane of Pluto.
