Chapter 5
The Moonstone (Part 2)
There was a place underneath the underground train station between the West City and Gingertown that humans were completely unaware of. It was a concealed business city inhabited by the creatures of darkness and supernatural origins. The buildings were mystical, stood close to each other, and looked different from what was in the more highly advanced city of humans above them. It was lit by post lamps which gave an orange tint around.
Vegeta and Tarble walked around the city they referred to as 'Cyudad Illyalim', roughly translated from the Saiyajin language as the 'Underground City'. Vegeta wore a black cloak with his hood over his head while Tarble donned a red one as they strolled the streets filled with different supernatural creatures of the night. It was bustling in the main area, but their destination was one hidden in the most obscured part of this city.
Entering a narrowed and dim alleyway, they tredged their way across it until they reached the end and stopped by a huge door made of rusted metal under a neon blue signage that read, "Cui's Mystic Hub" in some alien writing system and knocked on the door. Nobody answered for quite some time and Tarble assumed that the Nemajin was probably already asleep.
Vegeta scowled, growing even more impatient as he raised his right fist, ready to punch the door down in case no one still responded, "I know you're in there, Cui! If you don't get in here, I am going to destroy this ugly door of yours this instant!" he shouted furiously.
The door quickly cracked open and a huge eye peeked from the opening. "What the hell do you want now, stupid Saiyajin?! Can't you see that the shop's closed?! Just go back later! It's still early in the morning!" a croaking male voice responded with an annoyed hiss.
Vegeta raised his hand to stop the door from shutting at their faces as he glared at the catfish-faced humanoid creature with blue, spotty skin.
"It's already past 23," Vegeta told him gruffly. It was considered too late for the creatures of the night such as them to still be asleep at this hour.
"So what?! I don't want to see your ugly face, Vegeta," Cui snapped at him.
Vegeta snorted back, "So am I. And you don't even look remotely close to anything good."
"Then what the hell are you even doing here?! Don't you remember you said that you will never come again at my place? Now go away and leave me alone!" Cui yelled.
Cui tried slamming the door shut once again but Vegeta caught it once more and pushed it off, causing Cui to stumble backwards before falling on his butt on the floor. Vegeta glanced at his brother and told him silently to follow him inside.
Tarble smiled sheepishly at Cui and meekly apologized for the sudden interruption before stepping in to follow his older brother.
Vegeta snorted haughtily as he looked around, "This filthy place still hasn't changed a bit since I last came here. Still garbage, only a proper abode to Nemajin bastards such as you."
"Hey! How dare you come inside my home without being invited?!" Cui yelled. But he immediately calmed his nerves down when he found Tarble. He snorted, cleared his throat, and picked himself up from the ground, grinning at Vegeta and Tarble in a sarcastic way. The older Saiyajin glared at him.
"What a rare sight to have two Saiyajin princes visiting me during the night of a full moon," Cui snickered. "Has the arrogant crown prince finally lost his pride and decided to lower himself to visit this garbage place and see someone like me?"
While Vegeta wouldn't normally take such an insult, he went straight to his business. "I've lost the moonstone. I want it back," he admitted.
There were a few moments of silence from Cui as he stared at Vegeta in shock. People used to believe that a Saiyajin's moonstone carried their immortality and all their ki, but not many know that its true purpose is balance. Without it, there is a possibility that Vegeta will lose his control over his beast side.
And this could become an ominous event for this world considering that Vegeta was said to hold enough power to destroy the entire Earth!
That knowledge brought fear upon Cui, but he had to remain calm and composed. He had to keep this fact a secret to Vegeta, of all people, thinking that if he learns about this, then he could use this as a chance to go beast mode, not knowing about Vegeta's dislike of losing control over his powers.
He turned his head over his shoulder and grinned disparagingly at the Saiyajin Prince.
"Ahh… So that explains the reason for your weak ki energy, huh?" Cui mocked before he laughed out loud. "Hahahahaha! The arrogant prick finally got what he deserves the most! You have prided yourself too much for your power, Vegeta. Now look what that pride and recklessness of yours brought you into. And you have the nerve to come in here acting like your usual annoying and haughty self? Ha!"
Cui's laughter was put into a breathless halt when Vegeta hurled a dagger towards him. The dagger hit the wall behind him, which was almost an inch away from his ear.
"Enough with the insults if you value your pathetic life, Cui. Know that even if I lost the moonstone, I am still strong enough to destroy you. Now, tell me how to get it back," Vegeta snarled venomously at the Nemajin.
Tarble smiled sheepishly as he whispered to his brother, "Niisan, I think threatening him won't be a great idea. Calm yourself, okay?"
"Ye-yes, your little brother is right. You are in no place to be threatening me right now," Cui told him nervously. "Why the hell are you asking me that?! I know you know the solution to your problem very well."
"I cannot do that. My powers won't work against her for some reason," Vegeta admitted.
Cui cackled before mocking him, causing Vegeta to scowl deeply, "Oooh, did I hear that right? The most powerful Saiyajin's power doesn't work on a human? Are you even sure she's human at all?"
Vegeta growled through his gritted teeth, his patience running thin, "How should I know? This is the first time I have met someone like her."
"Did you try calling the moonstone out of her?"
Vegeta's eyes narrowed, "It won't come out."
Cui shook his head, clicking his tongue several times before he finally said, "Then If you truly wish to get your moonstone back, you have to find a way to take it back from her within 100 days."
"100 days?! What will happen to me if I don't get it back within 100 days?!" Vegeta demanded.
Cui hesitated to answer at first. He knew how bad the situation would be for everyone if Vegeta had indeed lost his moonstone. Should he tell him the truth?
"Your moonstone is a part of your soul. It holds your life and your power. If you lose it, then you will surely die, of course," Cui answered. "The moonstone is the Saiyajin's source of immortality. As the days pass by, you will grow weaker and weaker until you just disappear from existence like soap bubbles."
Vegeta's eyes widened in disbelief before he angrily denied, "That's unacceptable!"
Cui grinned, "I know, right?"
"Hey, you do know what I should do, right?"
"How should I know?! Find it out yourself!" Cui snapped. "And even if I do know the truth, do you think I would tell you? I honestly prefer it if you stay this way. This will put you in your proper place, you haughty bastard."
"You are already treading on thin ice, Cui," Vegeta warned with a growl.
Cui rolled his eyes at him before he raised his chin and huffed in the air.
"So what is it going to be, Prince Vegeta? Are you going to kill her or are you going to die?" Cui smiled at him, his tone disparaging. "It's just one way or another. If you decide to kill the woman, then it wouldn't be that easy for you. If you rip her apart, she will die instantly, the moonstone will be gone with her, and so will your own existence."
This mockery caused Vegeta's ire to boil. Thinking that something bad is going to happen soon, Tarble walked up between the pair and he lowered his head, "Please Cui. Can't you find a way to help my big brother? I don't want him to die."
Cui turned to the younger half-Saiyajin, and sighed. He stabbed a finger at Vegeta.
"Give me ten million zennie," Cui demanded, opening his palm.
"What?!" Vegeta protested in disbelief.
"What? You want to live?" Cui asked with an impish grin and a mocking gaze.
This insult made Vegeta's ire to boil, and he felt his body began to tighten, shaking in an effort to control himself from lashing out at this darn bastard. He knew that if he dared to raise a hand and attack Cui, it would only push the fool into not giving him what he wanted to know. This scheming bastard truly loved getting into his nerves.
"You scamming bastard!" the Saiyajin Prince growled back furiously through gritted teeth and pointy fangs. His fists were trembling on his sides as he fought to control himself.
Cui's grin seemed to stretch wider as he gleefully chuckled. Oh, no words could describe how much he loved that look on this stupid monkey's face. Chuckling to himself, Cui shouted while stabbing a finger in the direction of the exit door. "If you don't want to pay me for the information then get out, Vegeta!"
Vegeta snarled at him as he allowed himself to transform, letting out his primal side and hissing threateningly back at Cui. His fangs bared and his eyes burned a crimson fire. This sudden and scary change made Cui step back in terror at first before he shook his head, swallowing a lump of fear forming in his throat, and stood his ground. Vegeta blinked at him in his bafflement. He never knew that this cowardly fool had some sort of courage in him.
Trying his best not to give in, Cui stated, "This is business, Vegeta. If you don't want to pay me then go somewhere else. I'm not giving information for free."
"This is why I do not trust you," Vegeta grumbled.
"Pay me or get out. What's it gonna be?"
Vegeta glared at Cui intimidatingly before he let out an exasperated sigh, letting go of his primal transformation and returning to his more human-like state. The moment he took his wallet from his pocket, Cui chuckled mischievously. He took out his credit card but hesitated to surrender it to Cui at first.
Cui snatched the card off Vegeta's fingers, "Hmm… A black card, huh? Are you sure you want to use this to pay me? I bet your daddy would be greatly displeased to find his beloved first-born son spending ten million zennie in one go."
"Fine, go ahead and take your ten million zennie. Just fucking tell me what I want to know."
After Cui collected his money, he returned the black card to Vegeta before answering, "The only thing you could do for now is to keep the human girl as close to you as possible. You may share the ki energies the moonstone would collect from her mortal body. At least, during the midnight of a full moon, try to make a connection with the moonstone within her to replenish your own energy with hers. Aside from that, since she has your moonstone, it would be wise if you keep an eye on her. The Saiyajin, especially you, have a lot of enemies lurking in the shadows, waiting for the right time to strike. If they learn that you now have a weakness and they get their hands on her and your moonstone, you are certainly going to die with her."
"You are going to keep this between the three of us, Cui. Once I wind up that you ran that mouth of yours telling this to anyone, I swear I will cut that stupid tongue of yours. Perhaps, my ten million zennie would be worth it."
"Let's go, Tarble," Vegeta told his brother.
The Saiyajin brothers left after that.
While walking around Ciudad Illyalim, Tarble asked his scowling brother in their tribe's native language, "Are you alright, Vegeta-niisan?"
Vegeta turned his irate glare to his brother, "Do I look alright to you?" he snapped at him.
They found a bench in a park empty of any other presence aside from theirs and sat down in there.
"I've never heard of a person's soul falling out," Tarble said. "I guess you have no other choice but to be as close to Miss Bulma as possible. Just try to swallow your pride for 100 days, explain to her what happened, then find a way to get your moonstone back."
Vegeta scowled even more, leaning his back on the backrest and crossed his arms over his chest. "Something's not right, Tarble. Cui was lying to us," he revealed.
"Huh?" Tarble blinked.
"I can tell, you know, that bastard lied to us earlier, or at least, part of what he said was true but most of it was a lie."
"Which part is the truth and which part is the lie?"
"How should I know? But he's clearly hiding something. That, I'm sure."
Tarble let out another sigh. "He must have lied because he was pissed with how you treated him in there. You were being rude to him when you were the one who badly needed his help."
"Well, what can I do? I never liked the guy."
"And neither does he. Niisan, if you want to live, you have no other choice but to swallow your pride and plead him for information–"
"–Hell, like I'm going to do that, Tarble! Not in a million years! I'd rather disappear and die than lower myself pleading that useless, scamming bastard for anything!"
Tarble suddenly stood up, his countenance now similar to his older brother. Annoyed and impatient. Vegeta blinked back. Wow, his brother does look like him when he does that.
"That's it! I'm going back in there and ask him myself!" Tarble impatiently declared. "Stay here, Niisan. Please wait for me in here. I will come back to you later."
"What? You can't! I won't let you get back in there without me!" Vegeta protested.
Tarble rolled his eyes.
Without saying a word back, Tarble marched back to Cui's hub.
"Oi! Tarble! Get back here! That's a direct order! Hey! Are you listening to me?!"
Vegeta fazed in front of his little brother and grabbed his arm. Tarble glared up at him. For some reason, Vegeta could see his own face in his brother's unusual and unexpected determined eyes.
"Please allow me to go back there, Niisan! If Cui can't tell you the truth because you both have a bitter personal history of disliking each other, perhaps, I can convince him to tell me the truth! I want to know how you can live. I don't want to lose you in 100 days!"
Vegeta's eyes widened when he found his brother's eyes being filled with tears. His grip loosened and he stepped away.
"Tarble…"
"You're being selfish, Niisan! How could you think that?! Did you ever consider how mama and I would feel if we lose you?! How about papa?! I know that despite his absence, you and only you will always be his favorite son! And I don't want to see him hurt too! There are people who love you, who will grieve for you, who will be saddened if you disappeared–!"
"–Okay! Okay! That's enough! Just shut up and quit being such a dramatic brat! Stop exaggerating!" Vegeta yelled. Tarble shrieked at his big brother's imperious command, and stayed quiet after that. He simply stared at his older brother with puppy eyes, still with his unshed tears.
Vegeta breathed in sharply before letting it out with a long exhale in an effort to calm himself down. Then he placed his hand upon his little brother's shoulders and said in a calmer tone this time, "I'm sorry, Tarble. I didn't think about that." Then he pulled his brother in an embrace. Tarble sniffed in his tears. Vegeta felt his tears dampen his shirt and he rubbed his back. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I'm not going to disappear or die or anything, I promise," he whispered.
"You better," Tarble snorted. "I'll go ahead now, Niisan. Please wait for me here."
"Tell Cui that if he does anything to you or if you aren't back here in fifteen human minutes, I swear I am going to get back there and destroy him."
Tarble rolled his eyes and simply nodded back.
As soon as he was by the front of Cui's Mystic Hub, Tarble knocked on the rusted door.
"Excuse me, Cui. This is Vegeta Yonsei's little brother, Tarble. My apologies for the interruption but I returned here to talk to you about something."
The door opened and Cui easily welcomed him back to his abode.
"Why are you back here, kid? Did your Vegeta-niisan send you back to talk to me about something."
"No, I actually sent myself here."
"Oh? I'm surprised he allowed you to roam here alone by yourself."
"He's guarding nearby. He told me to tell you that if you do anything to harm me, he would not hesitate to get back at you and destroy you."
Cui cackled.
"I'm sorry about my brother's rudeness to you earlier. He's just probably being stressed out by what happened to him today."
Cui chuckled. "Ya know… Sometimes, I can't believe you're Vegeta's little brother and that you two are even close with each other. You're entirely different from him, you see."
"I agree."
Cui smirked. "I like you, even if you are just a mere half-breed of the two races that disgusts me the most. At least, you're polite and are aware when to show his superiors or elders the respect they deserve."
Tarble smiled.
"But you don't need to apologize for his nasty behavior, or for anyone else's. It is none of your concern to put yourself in between other people's business, family or not. If anyone should be saying sorry, it should be Vegeta, not you."
"Well, you know him. My brother's pride is as high as the heavens."
"And that's why he deserved his downfall now. Seriously, kid. I can't tell you how glad I am to see him panicking and stressing over his stupidity."
"Vegeta-niisan said that you were lying to us earlier. Is that true?"
Cui's eyes widened, snapping his head in his direction. "No! Of course not!" he denied, quickly turning away.
"You know, Vegeta-niisan's sense of intuition is unparalleled. He can definitely smell a lie from a mile away. So I trusted him when he said that you were lying to us earlier. He paid you ten million zennie, but you told him a lie. Isn't that scamming people? You're ruining your own reputation by acting this petty just because you don't like him, you know."
Cui rolled his eyes.
"If you don't want to tell him, you can tell me then. At least, let the payment be worth it. Please, Cui, I beg of you. Vegeta may be haughty and proud, annoying and rude to some. He can be a cold and ruthless monster to his enemies and his targets, too. But… he is still my brother, and I love him. I don't want him to die. And I'm sure that papa and mama won't want that either. If anything happens to my brother and my father learns that your lie was the reason for it, do you think he will ever forgive you? You could have destroyed your reputation well and completely if that happens. Plus, the entire Saiyajin tribe will definitely hunt you down and I'm sure you know what may happen to you if you incurred the wrath of the warriors of the moon. So please, Cui…"
Cui sighed and he looked up into the ceiling.
"Well… I don't know about that. I wonder if telling you the truth is the right thing to do. I'm weighing my choices here, Prince Tarble. You see, I believe that if only Vegeta dies and disappears, then that would be the better outcome for us all."
"What? Why would you think that?" Tarble asked, confused.
Cui finally turned to him, planting his fists over his hips, still contemplating whether he should tell this boy the truth or not. Tarble was probably the only person in the entire cosmos Vegeta truly cared about and he could be the key to the ruthless monster's hardened heart.
"Fine," Cui finally relented. "Listen to me and listen well, kid. Yes, I lied to you earlier. But lying to Vegeta is something that needs to be done in this situation. Since you wish to know the truth and Vegeta's not around here listening to this conversation, I will tell you what you want to know in the condition that you must keep this as a secret between us under any circumstances. Do not ever tell anyone, especially your brother, what I'm going to tell you no matter what. Is that a deal between us?"
"Why do I have to do that?" Tarble asked.
"You will know once you agree with the deal. If you can't promise me that, then I won't tell you anything."
"Okay. Okay. I promise I won't tell anyone, especially Vegeta-niisan," Tarble agreed, raising his right hand.
"Good," Cui grinned, pulled away from the frightened child. He made a hand sign, which instantly created a barrier around them. It looked like a yellow sphere of light, almost identical to a giant bubble. This caused Tarble to step back anxiously and look around him, not knowing what Cui just did or was planning on doing to him. Vegeta was probably right to never trust this guy after all.
Cui chuckled, "Worry not, kid. This is nothing but a mere precaution, necessary to prevent outsiders, even Vegeta, from hearing what I'm about to tell you. He can still sense our presence so he wouldn't be barging in anytime soon," he assured him.
"Uhm… Okay?" Tarble nervously agreed, and tried to relax now.
With that, Cui began to explain, "Vegeta losing his moonstone means something ominous is going to happen within 100 days if he doesn't get it back as soon as possible."
"Something ominous? What do you mean by that?" Tarble asked. "What's going to happen?"
"When I told him that he's going to die, I didn't mean that he is going to die like mortals do. He's not going to cease to exist, disappear, or turn into soap bubbles. Vegeta is an immortal being and is the most powerful among the Saiyajin tribe. According to legend, the most powerful Saiyajin has eaten thousands of humans in his lifetime and theoretically holds enough power to destroy this entire world. I'm sure that you are aware of that, right?"
Tarble nodded. "Yeah, but I have no idea if it was true or not. Vegeta-niisan has only lived for 73 years so it's impossible for him to eat that much humans in such a short amount of time."
"Yes, but I'll get to that later. Now, not many know of this other fact. I'm sure Vegeta told you that our dislike of each other started when he first came here as a child with your father and his mother asking me to help him awaken his latent powers at such a young age."
"Yes."
"You see, a full-blooded Saiyajin normally awakens their true power at the age of thirteen under the light of the full moon, but Vegeta was only five years old back then. In order to do so, I did an awakening ritual on him. During the said ritual, I sensed this incredibly ominous power sleeping within him. It was so dangerous it frightened me to sense it coming from just a mere child. So instead of waking his innate powers, what I did was place a seal to conceal it further, fearing that if it were to fully awakened, this child would bring the end of us all.
"I was told that the Saiyajin tribe was about to be attacked by the Arcosian tribe and they needed Vegeta's powers to be unleashed so he could defend himself during the tribal war. The Saiyajin knew that Vegeta's latent power was too strong for his age, even believing and expecting him to become the Legendary Super Saiyajin, the most powerful and most bloodthirsty among all, a being who only appears every three thousand years. That's why they probably thought it would be useful for them at the time against the Arcosians. It could also be the reason why the King wanted to forcefully awaken it.
"But of course, because of the seal I conveniently placed on his moonstone, Vegeta didn't get his powers the moment the ritual ended. We argued, we fought, he insulted me lots of times, I told them to get out and Vegeta said that he will never come back again, calling me all sorts of things that destroyed my reputation and hurt my pride… but I thought that I did a good deed by concealing that boy's powers, however, I made a mistake that day. I know I was too weak to conceal his powers completely so I went and reported to the four great kings of the corners of the Earth, the Shintennou.
"That night, the attack on the Saiyajin tribe by the Arcosians commenced. During the fray, Vegeta's mother was killed right before his eyes and the rage and grief which consumed him at that moment allowed for the seal I placed on him to be broken. And while it was a new moon that night, supposedly the weakest time for a Saiyajin, for some reason, a full moon appeared before him. I don't know if he was able to conveniently move the moon by his will or simply magically made it a full moon or something, but it was suddenly a full moon night. It was then that a beast capable of destroying everything was unleashed into this world.
"The reason why he's so powerful now isn't because he has eaten thousands of humans in his lifetime. Vegeta devoured immortals themselves, and aside from that, absorbed the life force of not just everyone he encountered that fateful night, but also the natural energies of the sun, moon, stars, the heavens and the earth itself. It was a frightening sight to behold and one would think that it could be the end of the world that night.
"Vegeta didn't just become the Legendary Super Saiyajin that night. Everybody thought that he was no ordinary ape monster or monkey demon, that he had reached a level of gods or probably even beyond that. Some called him a God of Destruction too. But whatever ability he awakened that night, it gave him a bottomless well of ki energy. It was a battle that placed the fate of the world, but thanks to everyone's combined efforts, the destruction of the world was prevented and Vegeta was stopped.
"Now, Vegeta doesn't remember much about this event and is completely unaware of this power all thanks to a much more powerful seal the Shintennou placed on his moonstone in order to conceal it that night. Since the moonstone allows a full-blooded Saiyajin to control his power, they placed the said seal on his moonstone like I did. Because of his complete obliviousness to this fact, he collected human energy into himself the way a normal Saiyajin traditionally does. And now, considering the amount of humans he has devoured all throughout the years, it only added to this bottomless well of power in him. Do you understand where I'm going?"
"You mean if he doesn't get the moonstone back, Vegeta-niisan may awaken that bottomless amount of destructive power?"
"Exactly! You're a smart lad!" Cui clapped his hands together. "And without his moonstone within him, he won't be able to control such power! He will definitely lose control of himself, and once that happens, he might explode into his true beast form and blow us all up to oblivion!"
Tarble gasped in terror, feeling a chill run up his spine as an image of a rampaging Oozaru burning down the entire world came into his mind. He heard of the horrifying stories about the monsters his full-blooded kind transformed into, saw what it looked like through one of his brother's ghastly paintings displayed on the walls of his apartment unit as he spoke about their legend and their carnage. That painting was probably one of Vegeta's haunting memories of that event Cui told him about him almost destroying the world that fearsome night. Vegeta said that the image was a recurring nightmare he dreamt about whenever he tried to fall asleep. Tarble never thought of himself being capable of becoming such a frightening beast and was thankful that his human blood was the dominant one than his Saiyajin blood. He always wondered why Vegeta seemed to be so fascinated about that beastly transformation and the primal power it brought him. It was really something he couldn't understand about his brother at all and always thought that perhaps, it was only a pure Saiyajin thing. He even dared to think that his brother was truly as weird and crazy as their schoolmates think of him to be.
Still, the fact that Vegeta could possibly end everything and repeat that horrifying event within 100 days was crazier. He was aware that Vegeta was greatly feared by many due to his sheer ruthlessness but Tarble can't really imagine his beloved older brother, even in his scary and mighty Oozaru form, going berserk and setting this world on fire, killing everyone and destroying everything.
He knew that Vegeta absolutely hated losing control of himself, now, Tarble probably understood why.
"What's the matter? Did it scare you?" Cui asked him. Tarble looked up to him and nodded. Cui's lip twitched. "You see, this is why I didn't want to tell you this," he grumbled angrily. "Fix yourself, kid. Don't get out of here with that pale face of yours. Vegeta would kill me if he saw that terrified look on you."
Tarble tried to swallow the lump forming in his throat, "Yeah…" he agreed. "But aside from keeping this a secret to him. What can we do? Is there any way for us to prevent this from happening?"
"I don't know, that's why I suggested that he must keep the human girl as close to him as possible during those 100 days while we try to figure out how to take the moonstone back. Aside from you, she could possibly be the only person who could appease his wrath and control him due to his moonstone being inside her. Vegeta values his immortal life and power above anything else, so telling him that he would grow weak and may cease to exist would force him to throw away his stupid pride and give us some time. For now, I will go to Master Zuno to ask for any information. He probably knows something."
"Master Zuno?"
"Yes, Zuno The Omniscient, the one who virtually knows everything in heaven and Earth. Once I got Intel, I will send you a message, hopefully without your brother noticing. Wait for that."
"Alright. Thank you, Cui."
"Yeah, take care of yourself, kid."
Tarble came out of Cui's hub and found Vegeta standing impatiently several feet away from the door. Vegeta's stern demeanor relaxed with relief as soon as he found his little brother out of that stupid hellhole. He got worried when he started to not hear things from inside that place so he quickly grabbed his little brother and embraced him protectively. Tarble returned the hug with a forced smile. Vegeta won't say anything but he was glad that Tarble got out of there completely safe.
Vegeta pulled away and stooped down, grabbing Tarble's shoulders, "So, what did the foolish bastard tell you? Did he tell you the truth?"
Tarble nodded slowly, "Yes, he admitted lying to us earlier but he said that it's best that we are kept in the dark for now because he wasn't sure about his own words. It's true that he knows nothing about how you should get your moonstone back and he only theorized that you should keep Miss Bulma as close to you as possible for 100 days while we find a solution. He offered to seek some answers by asking a friend of his."
"Now that's an even greater lie. Cui doesn't have any friends," Vegeta bitterly grumbled. "I do not trust him nor this friend of his at all."
"You don't have to, but we can give him the benefit of the doubt. It's probably better than having no leads at all," Tarble said. In his mind, he knew he could trust Cui on that. Cui may not care about anything related to Vegeta, but he certainly cares about his own life and that's enough for him to do something to help them from preventing the world from being destroyed.
Vegeta lowered his eyes and mumbled, "Tch! I guess that I really have no other choice. All I need is to keep the woman as close to me as possible, right?"
"Yes."
Vegeta gritted his teeth together, "Fine, I will try that. 100 days. Just some 100 days. If Cui doesn't find or do anything to fix this, I am going to make him pay for this dearly," he swore.
Tarble knew that Vegeta was forcing himself to endure this. While 100 days may normally seem too short of a time for an immortal like Vegeta, this upcoming 100 days would probably feel like the longest for him. And during those 100 days, if he didn't get his moonstone back as soon as possible, Vegeta's control of himself will slowly diminish over time and his fearsome destructive power capable of destroying the world will awaken. If that happens, everything will end.
Tarble could only hope that they find a way to prevent that from happening as soon as possible.
