Chapter 1
In the Isle
Mal is standing in her bedroom looking at the purple dragon that was spray painted on her wall, with its wings spread open and the stunningly blue flames surrounding it. She smiled at what she had done and decided to start on her next wall when a knock on the door stopped her in her tracks. A sigh was let out before she swifty opened the door to see a beautiful woman with long purple hair that reached her back with two large slightly curved black horns on her head. Her large green eyes stared into my own as she flawlessly entered my room and sat on my bed.
"Good morning mother," Mal said to her as she sat down in a chair facing her.
"Mal you are finally 15 years old which means it is time for you to enroll into Auradon Academy," she said to me as she magically produced a booklet into her grasp and handed it to me.
"Mother, I wanted to attend the Demigod Institute," she said while flipping through the book quickly and showed my disinterest and unhappiness with my mothers choice by tossing it into my trash can.
"Auradon Academy is the best school, they will teach you about your fairy magic," she sighed out as she magically summoned the book out of the trash and placed it next to her daughter.
"No mother, I have been learning fairy magic from you since my powers showed itself when I was five. I want to learn more about my Greek side and the power I should be able to use," Mal huffed at her.
"Your father taught you what he could, but he agrees with you attending Auradon Academy."
"I have already told Percy and Annabeth that I would be attending their school," she told her.
"That is not happening, your father and I have already signed you up and they accepted your application."
"I don't understand, you both were okay with me attending the school of my choice. What Changed!?" Mal let her frustration show by raising her voice slightly.
"Mal, you have to understand that this is what's best for you," Maleficent said as she stood up and walked over to hug her daughter.
"I know there is another reason behind this, so what is it?" Mal questioned her mom.
"We'll talk more when your father comes today from the underworld for your coming of age ceremony," Maleficent told her daughter as she left her daughter to her thoughts.
Mal sat there contemplating what went wrong with her plans. She was half a fairy from her mother Maleficent and she was half God from her father hades. Mal always knew she was going to be more powerful than other magical kids, which is why she wanted to attend a school with students who would be able to match her abilities. Her friends Evie, Carlos and Jay knew this and even though they would be sad, they gave their support. Mal quickly picked up her cell phone to call Evie to vent her frustrations.
"Hello," an alluring tone of voice from her best girl pal Evie said through the phone.
"Evie, my parents won't let me attend the Demigod Institute and I have no idea why," Mal told her frustrated with the decision.
"I thought you said they were okay with you choosing your school?" Evie asked confusingly.
"I know, but they changed their minds and I have no idea why. I won't be able to find the reason why until the coming of age party."
"You know I talked to my mom and she said I was going to attend Auradon Academy as well. I mean that has always been the plan because all the princes and princesses attend there, but she said it in a demanding way."
"Really?"
"Yes, something big is supposed to happen tonight to all the kids attending," Evie told her curiously.
"You think it's the reason why my parents are so adamant about going to Auradon?"
"Only one way to be sure, let's do a four way call with the boys and see what they say," Evie said as she started adding Carlos and Jay to the call.
"Sup," Jay and Carlos said to the girls as soon as they were accepted into the group call.
"Hey guys how have your days been?" Evie asked them as we haven't seen each other since we finished Villain school 3 months ago.
"Polishing up my fighting and stealing skills," Jay told them flexing his muscles for them through the facetime group chat.
"Looking good Jay," Evie giggled to him while Mal rolled her eyes fondly and Carlos gave him thumbs up.
"I have been taking online classes on electronics so I can have a better understanding of my inventions," Carlos said next as he showed off a blueprint of what looked like a machine. Sadly only he knew and understood that.
"Anyways have your parents brought up or said anything about tonight or the schools you're attending?" Mal asked them.
"I wanted to attend a tech school but my mom refused that option and said I would be attending the school in Auradon and that I didn't have a choice," Carlos told them which brought a surprised gasp from Evie and Mal.
"What a coincidence, my dad said I needed to attend Auradon Academy as well, but when I asked why he said the question will be answered tonight," Jay told them and now all 4 look at each other in confusion.
"So all our parents want us to attend this school and we won't find out why until tonight?" Mal asked and everyone nodded.
"Speaking of which, I have all our outfits ready and best of all it has been approved by Cruella herself," Evie said excitedly and started rambling about the outfits she made for us for tonight.
"We are meeting up at Mal's right?" Jay asked just to confirm.
"Yes, i'll see you all in an hour," Mal spoke and waved goodbye before hanging up the phone.
Mal decided to kill time by playing, pulling out her sketchbook and opened it to a page where she last left off. On that page was a drawing of a landscape she keeps seeing in a dream. A round elegant gazebo with vines and flowers around it next to a lake with trees and grass everywhere. She would paint it when the sketch was complete but this scene was so beautiful and mesmerizing that she just had to draw it. She didn't understand why this one place appears but she always dreams about her and another blurred silhouette being there together.
In Auradon
The future King of Auradon Ben was getting last minute touches done on his blue suit that he would wear for the coming of age ceremony. His mother Queen Belle could tell he was excited about the ceremony since he experienced it himself a year ago. This ceremony was sacred and the proceedings were kept secret until this day came around. She looked at her son who kept staring at his wrist where a black tattoo was. It was a dragon with a crown on its head sleeping on a rose. It was quite beautiful to her and she knew it meant a lot to her son.
"Look at my boy, almost as good looking as me," King Adam his father said as he strolled into the dressing room where Lumiere was finished with his work on Ben.
"I'm already better looking than you dad," Ben told him as his dad laughed and patted him in the shoulder.
"Today is the day where you might find the one, are you excited?" his dad asked him.
"Yes, I hope this is the year where I can finally meet her," she said to them as he gently rubbed his tattoo.
"Well since you're ready, let's head to the limo and get to the Mystic Hall, a royal shall never be late," his father told him as he offered his arm to his wife who happily accepted it.
In the Isle
"You girls are almost done yet?" Carlos asked them through the bathroom door inside of Mal's room.
"Almost, give us 5 more minutes," Evie said back and Carlos turned around to see Jay checking himself out in the mirror.
Jay wore a simple burgundy suit with a gold collared shirt underneath the jacket. On the front pocket of the suit was a sewn golden cobra, representing who his dad was. Carlos looked at himself in the mirror and was wearing a white suit with a black collared shirt underneath the jacket. On his jacket pocket were 2 bones shaped in a cross. Since his hair was short and curly he straightened his hair so it fell around his face. Jay on the other hand had really long hair so he slicked it back into a neat, frizz free low ponytail.
Finally the girls excited the bathroom and left both their male friends stunned. Evie wore an elegant sparkly blue tulle beaded dress with shoulder straps. On the front part of her She wore red heels to match her red heart shaped necklace that had a gold crown on top of it. Her hair was half up and half down curled beautifully to perfection with a jeweled crown on her head.
Mal came out in a off the shoulder masquerade dark purple ball gown, with a lighter shade of purple flowers flowing from her chest to her bodice and all over the long sleeves of the dress. Behind her were 2 floor length veils connected to each shoulder of the dress to imitate a cape. She was stunningly beautiful as her waist length purple hair was let down but made wavy to give it volume. She also wore a jeweled crown on her head and a necklace that was shaped into a hart by 2 dragons.
"You girls look beautiful," Carlos said as he admired their outfits.
"We are so lucky you are our dates," Jay said which made both girls blush.
"Beautifully done Evie," Maleficent said as she entered with her husband at her side.
"You are beautiful my daughter and so are you Evie," Hades said as he was able to take time away from the underworld for this special occasion.
"Looking sharp boys, why you are almost as cool as me," Hades said to them as they both took turns giving the king of the underworld fist bumps.
"I'm still upset about being denied my school of choice, but I am willing to put it aside until this event is over," Mal told her parents as she stood next to her friends.
"I promise everything will be answered tonight, now let's go everyone is waiting inside the limo," Hades said as he walked over and gave his daughter a kiss on the top of her head.
As Mal and her friends entered the limo she could see Jafar, Cruella DeVil, and Evil Queen inside waiting for their children. Mal held small conversations with her friends while the adults were talking among themselves about which kids and their parents were going to be there. Mal was shocked out of her conversation when they started naming princes and princesses from Auradon.
"Did you just say Prince Ben as in King Adam and Queen Belle's son?" Mal asked, hoping she heard wrong.
"All the kids from villains and heroes who are 15 will be at this ceremony my dear," the Evil queen said sas she started fussing over her daughter's hair.
"I thought it was just the VK's and their families, not those goody goody kids as well," Jay stated in annoyance.
"There is a reason for that, and everyone has a part to play, everything will be understood tonight," Jafar told his son and we all got quiet.
Mystic Hall
Mystic Hall was so big it could fit about 500 guests and it was plated in gold. Gold was almost everywhere and it blended in nicely with the ivory walls and ceiling. The ceiling was decorated with stars and constellations drawings. Columns were on each side holding up balconies where people could escape the crowded room. At the far end of the hall was a stage and on that stage was a pensive stand with a silver looking liquid that was making small motions on its own. Round tables with rose bouquet centerpieces were set up for the guests.
Mal noticed all this when her family, friends and their families all entered the hall. A good amount of people were there as they were grouped up and either sitting on the tables or by the food snacking and drinking. Mal recognized Harry Hook, Uma, Gin, CJ, Freddie, Zevon, and a few others she knew going to school with. She didn't recognize the kids dressed in pastels and pinks, but figured they were kids from the isle.
"Come on children, let's take a seat. Diaval, can you please serve the kids food and refreshments before attending to us and yourself," Maleficent asked her raven who turned into a man in an all black suit.
"Of course my mistress," Diaval said as he went to do as she requested.
"He is so competent, can't I borrow him when I am in the underworld every now and then," Hades asked his wife who gave a playful, annoying look at him.
"Never, he is my best friend," she replied but gave him a peck on the cheek.
"I am confused, the Auradon kids are giving us scared and nervous looks but the adults don't seem to care or mind us," Carlos pointed out and Mal and the others started looking around.
"Your right, I mean our parents are the greatest villains and no adults seemed terrified," Mal wondered and looked to the adults for answers.
"It's about to start," Cruella said as Diaval brough the last plates for Hades and Himself.
"All stand for the King, Queen, and Prince of the United States of Auradon," Cogsworth, a chubby friend and servant of the royal family, said.
