Chapter 3
"Jay Jaado," Maleficent called out and Jay walked up confidently to the book and placed his hands on it.
His friends and his father watched anxiously as the book opened and a bright light came out with a symbol of a knight's helmet with 2 swords behind it. Everyone looked shocked because the son of Jafar was given a hero role. But before more was said, Jay gritted his teeth slightly as he felt a burn on his right wrist. When the book closed the light show ended and he was moved to the side by his friend's mom.
"Jay has been assigned the role of hero," Maleficent shouted and it threw some people into a fit.
"Impossible, never before has a child of a villain been assigned a hero role. Their kids attend a school to teach them about evil, how is this possible," An old woman who slightly resembled Audrey and was also dressed in pink stated in anger.
"The book takes into account a person's character and personality and makes its decision. If you doubt the book then you doubt the role you were assigned," King adam which made her silent and she sat back down,
"Carlos DeVil," Fairy Godmother called out and he walked up next but with anxious steps.
Carlos shakily put his hand on the book and the same thing with Jay repeated, The book opened and a bright light came from the book. The same symbol as his friend Jay appeared and a searing pain on his wrist was felt. Maleficent pulled him to the side and led him down the stage next to his Friend.
"Carlos has been assigned a hero role," Fairy Godmother stated and more whispers were heard.
"Evie Queen."
"Coming," Evie said as she walked up to the stage and made many of the guys appreciate her looks.
She placed her hand on the book and once again the book opened but this time the symbol was a bit different. An elegantly thin sword with vines and flowers as a handle and wrapped around the blade itself with two angel like wings attached to it appeared. Evie looked at the beauty of it before her wrist started hurting and she made a whimper that made most boys try rushing to her. Carlos beat them to it and led her to where Jay and he were.
"Evie Queen has been assigned a hero role," Maleficent said and looked at her daughter next.
"Mallory Faye," her own mother called on her and she slowly approached the stand.
Mal would never admit it but she was scared about what role she would be assigned. She faked her confidence and answer to her friends, but she now didn't want to be the only one in the group that wasn't assigned a hero role. They would be in the same school but in different classes, as she hesitated putting her hand on the book, she looked around and was met with blue eyes staring right back at her. Prince Ben gave her an encouraging smile and for some reason made her feel at ease.
Mal watched anxiously as the book opened and the pretty floral sword with wings appeared and she let out a relieved sigh. She was so relieved she would be in the same role as her friends that she forgot about the soul mark and she put her hand over her wrist to hopefully dull the heat. She didn't notice she got the same reaction from the boys like Evie so she was shocked to see many try rushing to her. She even saw Ben coming forward, but Harry beat all of them and led her to her friends where he stood close by with Uma and their crew.
" Mallory Faye has been assigned the hero role," her mother said proudly.
Mal thanked him and he gave her a smirk that made her blush a bit. She looked at her cousin Uma, Gil, Harry, CJ, Freddie and mostly everyone she went to villain school with that were assigned the villain role. She didn't understand why her and her friends weren't assigned as villains, but she would have to wait for the ceremony to end.
Everyone looked at Princess Audrey who walked up to the book and gave a flirty smile and wave to the prince who ignored her. She put her hand on the book but instead of the hero symbol, an eyeball appeared in the center of the pentagram with bat wings on the side of it. No one was more shocked than her grandmother Lady Leah who dramatically fainted after seeing the symbol.
"Princess Audrey has been assigned the role of a villain," Fairy godmother stated for everyone to here.
"No that is impossible, I am a princess, a hero, the future queen," Audrey shrieked loudly and tried to rip the book away from the pensive.
Before any adult could help and warn her, a shield appeared around the book and managed to push Audrey away hard enough that she landed on her back off the stage. Her mother and father rushed to her to see if she was alright, but her face was red in anger when she managed to get up.
"THIS IS WRONG, I DEMAND A REDO!" she shouted and started throwing a tantrum. It got to the point where her dad King Philip picked her up and took her outside to calm her down.
The whole incident left everyone speechless after witnessing Audrey's reaction to her role. It didn't last long before everyone started talking about the incident and harsh things were said about the princess. It took time before Maleficent and Fairy Godmother calmed everyone down so they can continue with the ceremony. The rest of the ceremony went smoothly and finally Dizzy Tremaine the daughter of Drizella was the last one to get her role.
Her symbol for the book was of two hands that were holding up a crystalized heart. This let everyone know she was the last one to be sorted into her role and she was assigned a support role. Mal and her friends clapped for her, especially Evie since we go to her for our hair.
"Now that everyone has been assigned a role and their soulmate mark was given, please enjoy the rest of the night with drinks, food, family, and friends," the King said before walking down the stage with his family to mingle with the crowd.
"Can you believe that we were assigned hero roles," Jay said to us, still shocked about what happened.
"I know, I can't believe it," Carlos said as he started looking at his mark.
"Do you think since we were assigned hero roles in our future stories, our soulmates are fellow heroes as well?" Evie asked questionally as she stared at her soul mark.
"We can ask our parents and see if they will know," Mal offered a solution to them and they all walked away to find their parents.
The kids walked back to the table where they left their family and quickly went to their parents. Mal's mother was the last to arrive and sat down next to her husband and brought Mal in for a hug. The adults were shocked but they were proud that their kids got to be heroes unlike them.
"What does this mean? Why were we the only villain kids that weren't assigned to be villains?" Mal asked her parents who smiled knowingly.
"The book looks into your heart and soul to assign you your role. Your character and personality plays a huge part in that decision, but most of all your soulmate will majority of the time be assigned into the same role as you," Hades answered his daughter's questions.
"So that means our soulmates are also heroes?" Evie asked to better understand the situation.
"Not necessarily dear," the Evil queen said to her daughter.
"95% of the time that is the case, but the other 5% is that a hero may have a soulmate who was given the role of support," her mother finished saying.
"Heroes and Villains are able to be paired with people in the support role but they can never be paired with each other," Cruella said to them.
"So now what?" Mal asked.
