I sincerely appreciate the reviews you guys left. And because I was requested this will officially be a fanfic. I don't promise long chapters. It won't even be more than 8, but at least I'll give it a try to do something with this book that I had fun creating.
Any doubt don't hesitate to leave it in the reviews. Criticism on the translation is well received.
Mackenzie was lying on his bed, staring at a photo he held in his hands. In the picture, he was smiling with his two best friends, Bluey and Bingo. The photo, taken on a happy, carefree day, now brought him a flood of conflicting thoughts and emotions.
"And next year all three of us will be in high school. I'm going to have to see them both every day," he muttered to himself, letting out a sigh.
The memory of what happened at the Heelers' house a few days ago was still fresh in his mind. Kisses. Kisses. Kisses. It was all he could think about at that moment. Mackenzie felt trapped in an emotional maze, unable to find a clear way out.
"Couldn't someone have told me how to kiss a girl before I did it?" He thought aloud, frustrated. "Even worse, how do you get a kiss from a girl you're not supposed to love? And what do you do when the kiss you got from the girl you don't love you liked?"
Mackenzie tossed and turned in his bed, unable to find a comfortable position. The unanswered questions plagued him, making him feel even more confused. "It's so confusing to me... But why could it be that Bingo gave me the kiss? Does she like me or did she just want to make Bluey jealous?" he thought as he walked around his room.
He got out of bed and started pacing back and forth, trying to sort out his thoughts. "But I don't like Bingo that way, and I don't want to hurt her. Agh, what can I do so I can still be friends with both of them without having this guilt?" he wondered, feeling a cringe in his stomach.
Suddenly, he remembered his father's words about being honest and respectful. He decided that the best way to deal with this situation was to talk to both of them, clarify his feelings and listen to theirs. Only then could they remain friends without kissing coming between them. "It sounds very easy in theory. Now we'll see how it comes out in practice."
Mackenzie sat on his bed, determined to plan what he would say to Bluey and Bingo. He wanted to be honest and respectful, but he also wanted to make sure he didn't hurt either of them.
"Okay, okay, okay," he said to himself, trying to gather his thoughts. "First, I must admit that I kissed Bingo. And then, I must explain to her that it wasn't because I loved her that way, but because...because...I don't know, because it was a moment of craziness, I guess."
He paused for a moment, thinking how to continue. "Then, I must talk to Bluey. I must tell her that I value our friendship and that I don't want anything to come between us. And I must also ask her if she has feelings for me, so we can clear things up."
Mackenzie got out of bed and began pacing back and forth, rehearsing her speech. "And then, I must talk to Bingo again. I must tell her that I value her as a friend and that I don't want her to feel uncomfortable around me. And I must also ask her why she gave me the kiss, so we can better understand what happened."
She paused for a moment, feeling a pit in her stomach. "I hope this goes well," he said to himself. "I hope we can still be friends without kissing coming between us."
Finally, Mackenzie sat down on his bed, determined to talk to Bluey and Bingo as soon as possible.
The next day, in the park, Mackenzie was nervous as he waited for Bluey and Bingo. He had chosen a quiet spot under a large tree, hoping the relaxed atmosphere would help smooth out the conversation.
Bluey and Bingo arrived together, laughing and joking as usual. Seeing Mackenzie's serious expression, their smiles faded a bit.
"What's the matter, Mackenzie?" asked Bluey, frowning.
Mackenzie took a deep breath. "I need to talk to you about something that's been on my mind."
Bingo, always the blunt one, folded her arms. "Is it about the kiss?"
"Yes," Mackenzie admitted, feeling her cheeks heat up. "It's about the kiss."
Bluey and Bingo looked at each other and then at Mackenzie, waiting for her to continue.
"First, I want to say I'm sorry if things got awkward," Mackenzie began, speaking quickly. "Bingo, you're a great friend, but I don't know if you like me that way. And Bluey, you're an amazing friend too and I don't want this to ruin our friendship."
There was a moment of silence before Bingo started laughing out loud. Mackenzie looked at her, surprised. "What's so funny?"
"The kiss was just to make Bluey jealous." Bingo said as Bluey quickly covered his mouth.
Bluey, cheeks flushed, looked at Mackenzie. "Yeah, well... Bingo thought that if I got jealous, maybe...maybe I'd also admit that I love you more than as a friend."
Mackenzie gaped, trying to take in what she was hearing. "Really, Bluey?"
Bluey nodded, biting her lip. "Yes, Mackenzie. I didn't want something as silly as a kiss to ruin our friendship, but I also didn't want to keep holding back how I feel."
Mackenzie was relieved and happy at the same time. "Bluey, I feel something special for you too. And Bingo, thank you for... well, for being so straightforward and helping us talk about this.
Bingo smiled, "You're welcome. Now that everything is clear, can we stay friends and leave the kissing to you two?"
"If you don't give it to me out of nowhere there won't be a problem." Replied Mackenzie pulling up into her embrace. And Bingo jumped in and hugged all three of them.
Even though Mackenzie and Bluey were officially now boyfriend and girlfriend, there was something not right in Mackenzie's mind. This was what he had wanted all his life. Yet for some reason he wasn't enjoying it. If it hadn't been for the three-way hug that declaration of love would have been empty.
The warmth and closeness of the hug of three relieved some of the tension, but Mackenzie couldn't quite shake the feeling that something didn't quite fit. "I have to go to class now. I'll leave you girls." Mackenzie said as he ran away from the girls.
Mackenzie ran towards the school, the wind ruffling his hair as his thoughts continued to swirl in his mind. He felt a mixture of relief and confusion that he couldn't quite comprehend. He had wanted to be with Bluey for so long, so why didn't he feel as content as he had hoped?
The classes passed in a blur. Mackenzie barely paid attention, her thoughts continually returning to Bingo's kiss and Bluey's confession. The final bell rang and, with no clear idea of what to do, Mackenzie decided to find someone to talk to.
He found his friend Jack in the schoolyard, playing ball with some classmates. Mackenzie approached and, after a couple of quick hellos, Jack noticed his friend's thoughtful expression.
"Hey, Mackenzie, what's the matter with you? You seem distracted," Jack commented as he stopped the ball with his foot.
Mackenzie sighed, dropping her backpack to the ground. "It's complicated, Jack. Bluey confessed to me that she likes me and now we're boyfriend and girlfriend, but... I don't know, something doesn't click for me."
Jack looked at him curiously. "What do you mean it doesn't click with you, isn't that what you wanted?"
"Yes, it was," Mackenzie replied, running a hand through her hair. "But something feels... weird. Like it's not enough."
Jack nodded, thoughtfully. "Maybe you need more time to get used to it. Love things can be different in practice than in theory. And experiencing your first kiss must have been a beautiful thing."
Mackenzie blushed at hearing that. While he knew it would be better not to say that his first kiss was Bingo's, it wasn't something he'd be embarrassed to say either.
"I just hope that I'm going to be a good boyfriend for Bluey."
When classes were over, Mackenzie headed to the park where he usually hung out with Bluey and Bingo. He found Bluey sitting in the same spot under the big tree, reading a book. He walked over and sat down next to her, feeling his heart pounding.
"Bluey, I need to talk to you," he said, trying to keep his voice steady.
Bluey closed her book and looked at him curiously. "Sure, Mackenzie, what's up?"
Mackenzie took a deep breath. "I know we've started dating and we both feel something special for each other, but..."
"Bluey, I brought you the ice cream you asked for!" Bingo shouted as she arrived and interrupted Mackenzie.
"Oh, thank you Bingo." Bluey thanked. "And what were you going to tell me Mack?" asked the blue pup.
" That. That. I haven't invited you anything since I've been your boyfriend." Mackenzie replied with a little sweat.
Bluey smiled at Mackenzie and then looked at the ice cream Bingo had brought her. "Don't worry about it, Mackenzie. We can go get ice cream together another day."
Mackenzie forced a smile and nodded, even though he knew he hadn't said everything he really wanted to say. However, he decided to save the subject for another day, when they wouldn't be interrupted. Rather, he wasn't uncomfortable with the presence of two beautiful girls.
What if the first kiss isn't the one of true love? What if it is. How do you tell the girl you supposedly love?
