I should be teaching my classroom but instead I'm writing this. This idea came to me during my planning period at school, so I hope you guys can stick with the chaos because this is about to be CHAOTIC. So any time I think of a new ending, I'll post it here. Now this isn't to manifest the ending of the show, because I want it to be anything but over.

Now, stick with me through the chaos that will ensue.

I don't own the characters, but I do own the plot line ;)

The flashes of what could have been and what could be and what has been go through Elliot's mind as Ayanna drives them towards the 16th precinct. Just last night, he and Olivia had taken a new step in their friends, for now phase. They had crossed the line and sealed it with a promising kiss, something that hit Elliot deep in his heart as he recalled it.

"Tomorrow night," he'd said to her. "Tomorrow night, we're going out. Officially. You're dressing up, I'm picking you up, and we're gonna go on a date. Benson and Stabler."

His eyes tear up. And he angrily wipes them away as the bustling streets of New York seem to be busier.

"Get out of the damn way!" He screams at everything and nothing because no one can hear except Ayanna, who is trying to keep a very worried and angry Elliot Stabler at bay. Not that she isn't worried because she is, but it hits Elliot harder. He's back in his seat, seemingly lost in thought. And she's right. Elliot's mind flashes back to the previous night again.

"I'm gonna hold you to it, Detective." Her voice echoes through his mind as the replay begins again. She leaned forward and pecked his lips. She smiled as stepped back, satisfied that she'd stumped him.

"Oh no you don't, Captain," he said as he put his hand on the back of her head and pulled her in for more. Instead of a lighthearted peck, it was deeper. More meaningful. Before he could get carried away, he pulled back and placed his forehead against hers.

"Tomorrow night," he whispered as his lips ghosted her forehead with a soft kiss.

"Tomorrow night," she parroted back.

He'd left her apartment grinning from ear to ear because he was finally taking Olivia Benson out. Out on a date. A real date that just included the two of them, no work. No stakeout. No undercover rouse to catch a killer or rapist or both. No threats hanging over their heads. Just them. Benson and Stabler. Olivia and Elliot.

And he's back to present day just as quickly because he feels the hot tears welling in his eyes. He can't cry. Not now, not when she needs him. When he needs her. The scanner quells the silence in the car and silences the noise inside of Elliot's head.

We're on scene now. It looks bad. We can't get in. We got the detectives out. The Sarge and Captain are still in. We're trying to establish communication but nothing yet.

His heart hammers in his chest. They can't get a hold of Fin or Olivia. But the scanner doesn't stop there. He wishes it would and wouldn't at the same time because he needs to get there. He needs to be there for her. For Fin.

We've got some with minor injuries. A couple of uniforms have serious injuries. Two casualties so far. SVU detectives have minor to moderate injuries. Captain Benson and Sergeant Tutuola are still in there. A couple of shots have been fired.

He feels sick to his stomach. Oh, God. His PTSD knocks on his memory. Of losing Kathy. But he's not going to lose Olivia. Not like this. They've only just begun their lives together. There's no way that the good Lord above would allow them one night together before the other's demise. So, Elliot prays for her. Prays for Fin. And for everyone else affected by the tragedy. He ends his prayer and crosses his chest before leaning back in his seat. Another call comes over the scanner and they are only three blocks away.

We've got Sergeant Odafin Tutuola out. Bullet wound to the leg and another to the stomach. He's in and out. Captain Benson is still inside. Sarge says she's okay, but he's holding her hostage. Doesn't plan on releasing her.

Elliot is relieved and sick at the same time. Relieved that his friend is out. Alive. But doesn't know if he'll make it, and Ayanna is only a block away now, and they can see the scene. He sees Detective Velasco and the red headed detective that left a while back. She's holding onto him and crying, and the arm that isn't getting bandaged is wrapped around her, tears flooding his eyes as well. He sees Churlish and Bruno and they're fine. He looks around for anyone else, spots a few body bags and praying that one isn't Fin in the span that it's taken to get there.

Ayanna pulls the car to the side, and he's faster than her at stumbling out of it. He flashes his badge and pushes officers out of the way.

"Detective Stabler, I'm close with the Sergeant and the Cap." He's not sure that they'll let him through, but he prays that they will. One of the paramedics calls for him, and when he turns his head, he spots Fin, propped up on the gurney, tired eyes looking at him. He rushes over to the wounded detective.

"Fin, are you-"

"Imma be fine, Stabler," he whispers to Elliot hoarsely, the pain evident in his voice. Elliot's exasperation is one of the many emotions that Fin can read. So he keeps talking. "She was getting ready to leave for your date. Proud of y'all man. Finally doin' it."

And he sees the smile on his friend's face before he's pushed into the ambulance. Elliot gives a small wave, and he sees the paramedics working on Fin to stop the bleeding as the ambulance pulls away from the scene and is en route to the nearest hospital. He turns from it, searching for someone, anyone, who can tell him what is going on and where they are with the situation and Olivia. He's starting to panic again, knowing she was leaving for him, for their date, and getting caught in whatever hell this was. Was she the target and everyone else collateral damage?

"Sir, Sir! You can't be here. This is a crime scene!" One officer shouts from behind him, and it takes Elliot a moment to register that the officer is shouting at him.

"I'm Detective Stabler OCCB! What's going on?" Elliot is quick to flash his badge and sees Ayanna talking to a few other officers. He sees the fear that crosses her face after hearing what the officer is saying, and he panics even more. His mind sees red, and he's on the verge of a PTSD attack.

"It's a hostage situation. Male. That's all we know. He's holding Captain Benson at gunpoint. He shot his way in, killed a few officers and civilians. Wounded others. It's like he went straight for her. Like he knew exactly where she'd be."

Elliot mulls over an endless list of perps they've put away, but she's put away far more. Who else would want her at gunpoint?

You have not asked me about anything that has happened to me in the last ten years.

Her words flood his mind. He Knows about Rob Miller and Sheila Porter. Miller is in maximum security, and as far as he knows, Sheila Porter isn't a male. Surely Liv hadn't left anything out?

"How do we not know who he is?" Elliot asks the officer. Elliot can feel his pulse reverberating through his system, can feel it pounding in his ears. He can almost ride the wave of anxiety flooding his stomach. He's going to be sick.

"Detective Stabler, he's masked. Nobody knows who he is. Maybe he has unmasked himself for Captain Benson. We aren't sure. We have no visuals."

Elliot scoffs. Apparently the guy never thought to check security cams in Liv's office.

"There are cameras all over her office and her squad room. How do we not have a visual?"

"He got into the security system and downed it. We're trying to get it back up, but it's blocked."

Fuck.

Wait.

"I got someone down at OCCB that may can get it unblocked. She's a computer genius. A freak of technology if you will. Mind if I give her a call?"

The officer looks at Elliot with a hint of annoyance, like he was absolutely sick of the shit coming out of his mouth, but the officer didn't know a damn thing about anything. That was Olivia in there with some perp that nobody knows. Or that they might know but can't figure out.

"Yeah give your person a call. See what they can find out. Our tech guys aren't getting a thing."

Elliot is quick to dial Jet's number, and once he's explained the situation, he can hear her fingers hard at work to do her best in gaining control of the security system.

"You want me to stay on?" Jet asks. She doesn't mind it, not really. She's been rooting for the Detective and Captain to finally drop their defenses and do the damn thing, but they're both chicken shits, afraid of what might be. She gets it, truly, but she doesn't understand why two of the strongest people in the world who are clearly in love with each other are afraid to just try.

"No! Nah I'll see what I can do from this end. Thanks Jet. Keep me posted." He hangs up with a sigh, looking around through squinted eyes. He sees the floor where Liv supposedly is, and his chest tightens with worry. There's only one thing on his mind: he has to get in there.

He had worked at that very precinct for years. There are many ways inside of it, but he's not sure what the perp knows, and he can't risk losing Olivia before he's ever truly had her. An officer walks over and taps him on the shoulder, pulling him from whatever his mind was trying to conjure up.

"Hostage negotiations is asking for you, Stabler."

He pushes past the officer and barrels into the truck. There, they press the button to hear it through the speakers.

"What've we got?" The negotiator closest to him turns to look him up and down.

"You're Stabler right?" When Elliot nods, the man continues. "He's had the phone on this whole time, and we've been listening. We heard your name and called you in. He's just asking about the Captain's relationships-"

"Did you ever tell him about William Lewis, Olivia? I'm sure you had. He would have killed him, but you already did that, didn't you? You couldn't stand the thought of someone else taking out the man that burned you with various objects, kidnapped you from your home, held you for days while assaulting other innocent people, and finally, assaulted you. You had to have your revenge, and beating the poor man to death wasn't enough to satisfy you. You had to watch the life slip from his eyes. What he did was horrible, but murder is just as bad, Captain. You and Elliot truly are one in the same. It's a shame that you'll never embark on that glorious journey."

Elliot is sick to his stomach from what he hears. Surely the man is lying. Olivia told him about her life, what he'd miss. Surely, she wouldn't have skipped over an assault like this, or omit a murder trial? But the man's voice is achingly familiar, like trying to remember a memory but it just won't come. He hears a groan, and it doesn't come from the man.

"Captain Olivia Benson, legend says you're fearless. Elliot thought the world of you years ago. How does he feel now? Is he still just as hot-headed? He was so ready to kill me for messing with his partner, but not you. No, we've only just met, but I'm sure your partner will stop at nothing to save you, just like he had his other partner."

Elliot is sick. Absolutely mortified and frozen in place. He feels the fear coursing through his body, but he knows he needs to move. He needs to get in there and save her because he cannot lose her. He and Ayanna have bonded over traumas, but losing a partner to death? That's one trauma he doesn't want to bond over.

He forces himself out of the van and rushes inside, ignoring any and all orders to stand down. That old bastard in Olivia's office has fucked with one too many people. Fuck the FBI and their protection. Elliot has a score to settle.

I am going to break this into two parts because it's already long enough, but I can't think of any better way to leave you in suspense. :)
