Kagome rubbed her hands together as she stares at herself in the mirror wearing a white nurse's uniform. She was now Army nurse, working with Abraham Erskine to bring in new recruits. She didn't care for Colonel Phillips, but she thought Peggy Carter was a lot nicer.

Finishing putting her hair into a messy bun, Kagome moves away from the mirror to walk up to the papers stacked up on a table. Picking up the papers, she moves out of the office to quickly head down the hallway and of course avoiding all the wannabe soldiers who were stript down to their underwear as they wanted to flirt with her.

Kagome moves to an open flap, where a doctor stood at a table. "Here's the folder you requested." She told him. He nodded as he accepted some of the papers.

If she had to do this, instead of being in the field and fighting, then she was not going to complain. It just brought up too many memories and she wanted to escape that life, so that meant no using her priestess powers. But the Sacred Jewel still hung around her neck and under her shirt. She didn't know why, or it was probably because she didn't want the jewel to fall in the wrong hands.

Kagome continued to do this until the papers in her arms were gone. Once she had completed that she moves on till the end of the work day.

Steve sat on the catwalk of his apartment, he was not ready to go inside and see the look his mother always gave him when he'd come home from a fight.

Hearing footsteps on the catwalk, he turns to see a familiar woman coming up the stairs, she pauses when she spots him.

"Well, if it isn't my rescuer." Kagome smiled a little, but her smile disappears when she got closer and saw his face. "Are you alright?"

Steve blinks, he couldn't help it. No girl ever talks to him - besides his mother of course. "Uh, this?" He points at his face. "It's nothing, just some bruising is all."

She gives him an unbelievable look. "Right." She then frowns. "Are you locked out of your apartment?"

"Oh uh, no." Steve said nervously. "Just a, just waiting till I think it's safe to enter. My mom doesn't like it when I come home looking like a guy's punching bag." He clears his throat. "I better go in now. Nice to see you again." He turns towards his apartment door.

"Wait." Kagome had him freezing and slowly turns to face her. "I meant what I said last week about thanking you about that thug."

Steve rubbed the back of his head. "Oh. You're welcome." He opens the door. "Goodnight ma'am."

She nods. "Goodnight." Deciding to worry about his nerves had to be put on the back burner. She continues on towards her apartment, but quickly pauses when she hears glass breaking.

"Steven Grant, not again!" A woman's voice of surprise is heard from the open window of Steve's apartment.

"I'm sorry mom." Came the nerves response.

Not wanting to interfere with that, Kagome moves onwards to her apartment, finally reaching her front door she slides her key into the lock, pushes the door open and walks into her apartment, closing the door behind her.

An hour later, Kagome laid relaxed on her couch, staring at the Sacred Jewel as she gently moved it around her fingers as she stares at it.

"You are a hard one to find." A cold and calm voice spoke, making Kagome jump with a scream, the jewel falling from her hand and disappearing through the cushions of the couch.

"Sesshomaru?" She looks around before spotting him at the small table.

"Running away from your troubles is not the answer." The demon told her.

"Naraku is dead, been dead for the past decade now."

"I don't need you to remind me." Sesshomaru said as he stood up from the table and walked over to her. "I just thought you'd like to be warned."

She frowns. "Warned? About what?"

"There's a new threat coming." He lifts her bow. "I suggest you keep this with you."

Kagome's eyes stare at her bow. "I don't want it." Her voice shook. "That's why I left it behind."

There was suddenly a knock on her front door, gaining her and Sesshomaru's attention. The demon turned to shimmer away, and Kagome sighs heavily.

Pushing herself off the couch, she moves to her front door. "Who is it?" She calls.

"Steve Rogers and Bucky Barns ma'am." Steve's voice came through the closed door, Kagome opens her door as far as the chain would let. Standing outside is Steve and Bucky.

"Just a sec." She closes the door to unlatch the chain and opens the door. "Come in." She offers, stepping sideways to let them inside. "How can I help you two?"

"I'm taking Stevie to the bar." Bucky answered easily. "He wanted to know if you wanted to come with us."

She smiled a little. "Well, thanks for thinking of me."

"That a yes?" Bucky asks, then offers. "It's my treat."

"Me and bars don't mix. I'm afraid I have to decline. Being groped and hit on has me never wanting to go into a bar ever again."

"You'll be safe with us." Bucky said gently. "You'll be safe with us."

"Mostly him." Steve points at Bucky. "He's stronger. And taller."

Kagome chews on her lower lip. "Ok." She caves. "Just let me grab a jacket." She walks over to a chair, as she does Bucky sees her bow and walks over to it.

"Pretty neat weapon you have." He comments as he lifts it up to look at it closely, she turns as she shrugs on her light blue jacket and grabs her purse.

"Thanks."

"You must be pretty good with that thing." Steve said as he also admires it as he comes up beside his best friend.

Kagome lets a small smile form on her face. "I'm an ace actually."

Bucky sets the bow back down. "Anybody give you a hard time when they see it?" He asks as he gestures to the door and they leave, with her locking her front door.

"Sometimes." She admits, and it was true as she quickly found out that women are suppose to have one job during these years.

"Give me names and I'll let them have it, Sargent James Barns style."

"I can handle myself." Kagome looked up at Bucky. "But thank you."

Kagome felt uneasy at the bar, looking around at everyone. She made sure to stay close and in between Bucky and Steve. Noticing some eyes on her, Kagome slid her right arm through Bucky's left arm hugging it as the trio approached a table.

"Don't worry sweetheart." Bucky told her gently, pulling out a chair for her when she slid into it he gently pushes the chair to the table and he sat down next to her, sliding his arm on the back of her chair as Steve sat on the other side of her. "Assuming Stevie doesn't start a bar brawl."

"Hey!"

Kagome looks at Steve in shock. "You started a bar brawl?"

Steve held a finger. "Start? No … I." He watched as Bucky raised an eyebrow at him. "Maybe I did. Once."

"Once?" Bucky continued to look at the blonde.

"Ok, three times." Steve caved with his shoulders slacking.

Kagome giggled, shaking her head.

"Now, since it's not so crowded in here, let's order some grub." Bucky said. "I'm starving."

"That sounds good." Kagome smiled.
