"On second thought, why don't we catch up, hmm?" Sofya asked as she began walking towards the restaurant. Eve stood still for a second, baffled at Sofya's actions before she quickly ran and caught up with her.

"I don't dink dat's such a good idea." Eve growled as she stood in front of Sofya, blocking her path. "Listen, Caroline isn't-"

"Do you think I'm stupid? I know she's not." Sofya rolled her eyes. "But she doesn't know about you?" Sofya asked, slightly confused. "How can you go about making friends without them being one of us?" Sofya asked, genuinely curious, but Eve didn't have time for curiosity when it came from Sofya. Eve had a bad feeling in her stomach that said Sofya knew him. Sofya knew where he was. So, the less Sofya knew about Eve's life and friendships, the better.

"We can catch up tomorrow, yeah?" Eve asked. "Without havin' ta tip-toe around de fact dat I'm far older dan 22." Eve shrugged. Sofya stared at her for a second before shaking her head.

"Yeah, no, I think right now is a good time." Sofya said, sidestepping Eve and walking around her. "That, or I could tell him where you are and that you have a new friend." Sofya shrugged as Eve felt the color drain from her face. "Come on, now, Eibhlín." Sofya said, nonchalantly as she threw back a smirk. Eve couldn't help but bite the inside of her cheek as she followed. There was no way Eve was going to risk Caroline's safety because she didn't believe a threat.

As Sofya and Eve walked into the restaurant, a man with slicked back black hair and a suit on, stood at a podium. Acappella was a fancier place than she remembered. The man, presumably a host, was staring at a paper, most likely something that told him where everyone was seated. Sofya let out an annoyed huff of air, making the host's head snap up.

"Oh, I am terribly sorry! We are booked at the mome-"

"We're with a blonde haired girl. She came in a little before us." Sofya interrupted. The host blinked and nodded, looking back down at his sheet.

"Oh, my apologizes. But it seems that there was only a reservation for a Miss Forbes and Miss Nicatore." The host apologized glancing between the two. "Unless you were referring to-"

"Make room for one more." Sofya growled lowly, walking up close to the podium and compelling the host. The host's previous apologetic expression vanished as simply nodded. Eve couldn't help but roll her eyes and scowl at Sofya as the host turned the nearest corner and called for someone to show the two to their seats. "What's the point of living without getting what you want, Eibhlín?" Once more, Sofya said her name...a name she hadn't used in decades. The 1940's was when she began going by 'Eve' instead of 'Eibhlín'. And that was because of Seamus' son, Liam. He thought 'Eve' was a more 'age appropriate name' at the time, and it stuck. Sure, Damon called her Eibhlín sometimes, but how Sofya said it was different. Sofya's sounded like a threat. A threat that screamed 'try me' if Eve said anything about it.

Eve was brought back from her head by a waiter, who had come and stood patiently waiting for the two two follow. Sofya smiled at the waiter and nodded for him to start walking, which he did. Eve followed behind. Eve hadn't know Sofya for long, but it seemed like she hadn't changed. When she smiled at people, there was no emotion in her eyes. Sofya wanted things from people, and once she got what she wanted, she would dispose of them. Being a mercenary, it must have been easy, being a vampire probably only made it easier. But Eve couldn't imagine just using humans and getting rid of them. Sure, they were used for blood, but people shouldn't suffer unless they truly deserved it. Sofya thought everyone deserved it.

"Eve, oh my God!" Caroline smiled up before her smile instantly fell, seeing Sofya. "Hi." Caroline said flatly, looking back at Eve with confusion in her eyes. Eve couldn't even look at Caroline as she moved her chair to sit beside Caroline at the small table. Sofya stood impatiently waiting for the waiter to bring over an extra chair to the table as Eve handed Caroline her small purse. Caroline took the small purse and shoved it into her large bag turning Sofya's attention back to the two.

"Our meeting just then, it wasn't very formal of me, and I apologize about that.." Sofya smiled back at Caroline. "Formally, my name is Sofya." Sofya said, reaching her hand over the table to try and shake Caroline's hand. Caroline raised an eyebrow at it before glancing over at Eve.

"You already know my name." Caroline said flatly, leaning back into her chair with her arms folded. Eve bit the inside of her lip to keep herself from laughing at the slow transition of a fake, happy smile, to a very annoyed look from Sofya.

"Well, Caroline, I'm going to join you. You're going to be okay with that." Sofya said lowly as she compelled Caroline. Caroline raised an eyebrow back at Sofya and looked over at Eve.

"I mean, personally, I'm not cool with this, but it's whatever." Caroline snarked back. Once again, Eve would have laughed at Sofya's offended reaction if Sofya wasn't an actual threat. Sofya looked back at Eve and glared as Eve shrugged gently. The waiter placed the chair down beside Sofya and turned to walk away. Sofya grabbed onto his arm quickly.

"What happened to chivalry? Help me into the chair." Sofya compelled the man as he did as he was told. Caroline's eyebrows furrowed together as she watched. Eve tensed as Caroline looked back over to Eve. "Now, tell me about your wine." Sofya said as she now sat in her chair.

"Oh, I'm not your waiter, ma'am. I have other tables to get to." The waiter smiled awkwardly. "I'll go find Tara though! She'll be your waitre-" The waiter tried to turned and walk away, but once again, Sofya grabbed his arm.

"I don't care who this tables server is, I asked you to tell me about your wine." Sofya growled lowly as the waiter's face slightly scrunched up from how strong her grasp was.

"Dat's enough." Eve snapped, turning Sofya's attention back to Eve. "It's fine, just go get Tara, alright?" Eve asked gently towards the waiter who looked slightly mortified, but he simply nodded and walked away quickly. "Sofya-"

"That was rude. He didn't even tell me what kind of wine there is." Sofya said with a slight pout. "What do you think, wasn't that rude?" Sofya asked towards Caroline who was scowling back at her.

"If we're being honest-"

"Caroline." Eve warned, cutting her off.

"No, no, what is it that you were going to say?" Sofya asked with a smile. Her eyes glanced over to Eve's before returning to Caroline's. Caroline shook her head.

"It's nothing." Caroline sighed, shining a smile back towards Sofya. "Boy this food sure looks good!" Caroline said aloud, as she looked down at her opened menu. Eve looked over at Sofya who was staring at Caroline. Sofya's eyes caught Eve's.

"So, Eibhlín, how have you been?" Sofya turned her attention back to Eve.

"Good...fine." Eve said as she practically stuck her head into the menu.

"Still on with that Damon fellow?" Sofya asked. Eve could practically feel Caroline's ears perk up.

"On?" Caroline asked suddenly. Eve glared over at Caroline who gave a small shrug.

"Oh, yeah. When we first met, we had to come to New York for her brother. On the way, all she really talked about was Damon." Sofya smiled as she glanced over at Eve. "Surprised he isn't here with you. Or was he the reason that you're here now?" Sofya asked.

"It's really none of yer bus-"

"Hello! Sorry about your wait, my name is Tara and I will be your server tonight." A young woman with dark skin and long black curly hair smiled, as she interrupted Eve. "What could I get you all to drink, if you're ready." She smiled, ignoring the obvious tension that was surrounding the table.

"Finally, someone to tell me about the wine." Sofya groaned.

"Are you more a white or red wine kind of lady?" Tara asked with a smile.

"Oh, I'm more of a red liquid anything kind of gal, myself." Sofya smiled back at her. Eve couldn't help but cringe.

"Ooh, red wine, alright, there's the 'Yalumba Red' from 2004 and this one is-"

"Actually, what's the most expensive wine you have?" Sofya cut the waitress off as she began to talk about the wine. Tara blinked before shaking off the interruption and smiling.

"The most expensive wine we have in house is the 2005 'Bodegas Roda Cirsion' from Rioja, Spain." Tara smiled. "Per glass, it's-"

"I want the whole bottle." Sofya said quickly, once more making Tara falter from her usually rehearsed lines.

"The whole bottle is 250 dollars." Tara said. "Are you sure-"

"Yes, get the whole bottle." Sofya snapped suddenly, becoming annoyed by how long the whole process was taking. Tara nodded and wrote it down on her small notepad.

"And for you two?" Tara asked, her smile a little less bright.

"I'm fine with water." Caroline said, shining her own smile back at Tara. Eve couldn't help but smile herself, as she saw Tara's eyes slightly light up again.

"Same fer me, danks." Eve smiled back. Tara nodded as she turned on her feet and walked away from the table.

"I'm bored." Sofya muttered as she started looking over the menu. "So, Eibhlín-"

"Why do you keep saying her name like that?" Caroline asked suddenly, turning Sofya's attention towards Caroline. "It's 'Evelyn', not 'Ebalin'." Caroline muttered. Sofya let out a loud laugh turning the surrounding tables attention to Sofya. Eve could almost hear Caroline's teeth clenching together.

"There was a time you would have hated to hear that pronunciation, but I suppose that was many, many years ago." Sofya smiled back at Eve. Caroline looked over at Eve who was staring back at Sofya. "Oh, I'm sorry, am I upsetting you? I know it's been decades since we last talked, but I would have expected a nicer reunion." Sofya began to pout. Caroline let out an annoyed scoff.

"You aren't being a basket of roses either." Caroline hissed, folding her arms and glaring over at Sofya.

"Your little human has quite the tongue on her," Sofya chuckled out. "I do wonder if she would feel the same without a tongue at all." Sofya said with a smile but the threat was clearly in her voice. Caroline's stared at Sofya, a range of emotions passed over her face from confused to disgusted to annoyed within a second before she let out a huff. Before anything else could be said, the waitress, Tara, came back with two glasses of water and a bottle of wine with a wine glass on a trey.

"Alright, now I've got two waters here and Bodegas." Tara said with a smile, once more ignoring the tension from the table. "Would you like me to pour the wine for you, or-"

"Yes." Sofya said with a smile. Tara complied as she dug in her apron and pulled out a corkscrew. "Why don't you give me a little of your blood, while you're at it." Sofya said with a smile making Eve's heart nearly stop. Tara raised an eyebrow at her as Sofya stood up suddenly. Without hesitation, Eve flittered over to Sofya and grabbed her arm and threw them to Sofya's side.

"Dat is enough." Eve bit her tongue to keep her from screaming at Sofya. "Leave now. Put de wine on me card. Forget what was said." Eve compelled Tara as she stood herself between her and Sofya. "Caroline, we're leavin'. Now." Eve snapped as she walked around Sofya to Caroline. Caroline raised an eyebrow as Eve grabbed onto Caroline's arm and started pulling her to leave the restaurant.

"Come now, Eibhlín, why not have a little flashback?" Sofya said with a chuckle in her voice. "This is no pub, but there are few people. Would be a shame if something were to happen." Sofya said playfully making Eve freeze.

"What the hell is your problem?" Caroline suddenly snapped, whipping around from Eve's grasp and stamping up to Sofya, somehow managing to push her purse into Eve's arms. "I have no idea what happened between the two of you, and I don't really care to know. What I do care about is how psychotic you sound in a restaurant full of people. Making threats about cutting out my tongue and asking a waitress for blood? What the hell is your deal?" Caroline hissed as she stood in front of Sofya. The two were practically the same height, but with Caroline's heeled boots and Sofya's combat boots, Caroline stood a little taller.

"You think you're intimidating. It's quite funny." Sofya couldn't help but laugh. The laugh was suddenly subsided by the sound of a slap. Eve was by Caroline's side instantly, pulling the blonde away from Sofya as a small group of restaurant staff came between the three women. A few waiters, a man wearing a white jacket with some sort of food stain on the sleeves, and a man in a nice suit began moving the the three away from each other.

"Time ta go, it seems." Eve muttered to Caroline and began leading Caroline out the front door again. A small commotion was heard behind them as they left the restaurant's dining room. "Dat's one way ta make an exit." Eve snickered lightly as the two walked out of the restaurant.

"What the fuck was her problem?" Caroline snapped. If Caroline was a cartoon character, Eve was sure that steam would be coming out of her ears. The idea almost had Eve laugh if it weren't for the murderous look on Caroline's face. "Why in the world were you friends with her in the first place?" Caroline snapped. "Like, I thought Damon was a shit head, but Jesus, I was wrong." Caroline continued as Eve slightly pulled her away from the restaurant.

"I was young and stupid." Eve shrugged as she pulled her phone out of her purse from within Caroline's purse. Eve let out a sigh as she went into her contacts. Eve handed Caroline have her purse back, Eve's purse still inside as she focused on her phone. "Listen, Caroline, I'm sorry about what all just happened." Eve muttered. "I...I dought she was just goin' ta say 'hi' on de street and leave it at dat." Eve said as she turned her attention to her contacts. Shit. She hadn't put Driver's number into her own phone.

"I thought so too with how bitchy she was acting on the street, let alone in the actual restaurant." Caroline muttered, folding her arms and shivering. "Are you calling the hot chauffeur?" Caroline asked as she looked over Eve's shoulder at Eve's phone.

"Once I find it." Eve sassed back. Caroline raised an eyebrow. "I didn't put his number in me phone." Eve said as she called the hotel. Caroline let out a puff of a laugh making Eve roll her eyes and swat a hand at her as she waited for someone to pick up.

"Four Seasons Hotel, this is Cathy, how may I help you?"

"Yes! Hello! It's Mira Nicatore. I didn't get de driver's number. De one dat drives de Rolls Royce." Eve said quickly, once more hearing Caroline muffle a laugh.

"Alright, from what it looks like, Ethan is your driver, correct?" The lady over the phone asked.

"Ethan, ya say? He didn't introduce himself." Eve said, glancing back at Caroline who's eyebrows raised with a little smile. "Aye, I suppose dat's him." Eve said as the lady recited his number back to her. "Alright, dat is all I needed, dank ya!" Eve smiled as she hung up and quickly entered the phone number into her phone.

"You know, I'm still hungry." Caroline muttered as Eve waited for Ethan to pick up. "Probably not a restaurant now. I don't want to run into any more of your-" Eve began to swat the air once more at Caroline to make her quiet as Ethan picked up.

"It hasn't been an hour yet." Eve heard over the line making her roll her eyes.

"Do ya have somethin' better ta do now, Ethan ?" Eve asked, not being able to help the smirk that slipped onto her own lips as she said his real name. "Do dey pay ya by de hour or-"

"How do you know my name?" Ethan asked, sounding slightly annoyed.

"It's a mystery. Listen, I didn't just call ta chat ya up dough, so will ya do me a favor and come pick us up?" Eve asked as Caroline slightly nudged her. "We're pretty close ta-

"I can be there in...15 minutes." Ethan muttered as he cut her off. "Same place I dropped you off." Ethan muttered as he quickly hung up the phone. Eve let out a scoff as she looked at her phone to see that he really did just hang up on her.

"He makes it seem like I'm askin' de world of him." Eve sassed. Caroline had been surprisingly quiet through the whole thing. Eve couldn't help the gasp that left her throat as she saw Caroline storming back towards the restaurant. "Caroline!" Eve snapped as she ran to catch up with the suddenly angry blonde. "Caroline, de fock are ya doin'?" Eve asked as she quickly caught up and stood in front of Caroline.

"My necklace." Caroline snapped, as she tried to pass Eve, but Eve blocked her, making Caroline let out an annoyed sigh. "My necklace, Eve! I don't have it on. It must have fallen off in the restaurant." Caroline hissed as she absentmindedly touched her neck. "Elena gave it to me." Eve felt her heart jump up to her throat and drop to her stomach.

"Okay, but let me go get it. If Sofya's still in dere, she's goin' ta be pissed." Eve bargained. Eve hadn't seen Sofya leave the restaurant and Eve and Caroline had only walked one block. "Just, stay here, will ya?" Eve asked gently. Caroline stared for a second before letting out a sigh.

"Alright, fine. I'll stay right here." Caroline muttered, folding her arms and slightly shivering. Eve smiled before turning around and quickly making her way back to the restaurant. Once she walked in, she let out a sigh of relief she hadn't known she had been holding in. People were still alive.

"Excuse me miss, but you aren't allowed in here." The same man that had welcomed Eve and Sofya not too long ago muttered.

"I'm just lookin' fer a necklace me friend lost." Eve muttered, putting up her hands in defense. The man nodded as Eve began walking towards the dining area. The man quickly stopped her. "That was not a nod of approval. That other woman has it. She thought you might be back so she told whoever was up here to tell you that she had it." The man said as he gently began nudging Eve back.

"Wait. She has it?" Eve asked, staring at the man, who once again, nodded. "Why would ya let her have it if ya just saw what happened?" Eve snapped. The man simply blinked back. Eve let out a sigh. Compulsion. "Is she still here?" Eve asked quickly and received a shaking of the man's head.

"She left not long after you and that blonde left." Eve only faltered for a second before turning around to leave the restaurant. "She said she would give it back in person, if that means anything." The man muttered as Eve felt herself move a lot more quickly than she should have in public.

"Caroline!" Eve suddenly yelled as she made her way around a group of people who were walking into the restaurant. Eve maneuvered around the people with ease as she quickly ran onto the sidewalk. "Son of a bitch." Eve snapped as she ran towards where Caroline was supposed to be. "Caroline!" Eve yelled once more as she turned and looked to see where Sofya could have taken her. Of course there was an alleyway not too far from where Caroline had been standing. Eve forced herself not to flitter to the entrance. It had to be the dingiest alleyway with as little light as well. Sofya seemed to like dramatics. Eve let out an annoyed sigh as she walked into the dark. "Sofya, come on." Eve said aloud as her voice echoed off the walls.

"Is this not fun then, Eibhlín?" Sofya's voice echoed off the walls. "Probably not as fun as the killing of innocent people back in the 1900's." Sofya muttered as she walked out from behind a dumpster with Caroline looking around in complete fear.

"Let her go." Eve muttered lowly. Sofya simply laughed.

"I'm not even holding her." Sofya said as she put her hands out in front of her. Caroline stood where she was. "Now, come on Eibhlín. You have always defended yourself when accused of the mass murders you committed in 1914. After all these years, have you finally realized that it was your fault?" Sofya asked.

"I never claimed it wasn't me fault." Eve hissed. "I claimed dat ya could have helped prevent it."

New York City; 1914

"Are you truly still shocked that your brother would have children?" Sofya asked as she took another drink from her glass.

"I am truly shocked dat ya keep bringin' it up." Eibhlín snapped as she took a long drink from a bottle of what she knew to be called 'New England Gin'. Sofya let out a laugh.

"You seem to be taking after your father quite nicely then. From what your hysterical mother said, he was a very angry drunk." Sofya muttered into her glass making Eibhlín glare back at her. "Even better to see that even with being a vampire that you still have trouble holding liquor." Sofya continued to snicker.

"I was not much fer de drink." Eibhlín muttered. "I did not like de way it made me feel." Eibhlín continued as she took another long drink from the bottle.

"You say that while we are in a pub, drinking." Sofya said making Eibhlín roll her eyes.

"Ya brought me here." Eibhlín muttered.

"You wanted to come here." Sofya sassed back. "And I thought a smaller place would be better seeing that it is barely noon and two women are out drinking." Sofya shrugged. Sofya was right. The pub was small. She had never been out drinking before. And the places she had been was because of her father, Damon and Irene, and the bar in Mystic Falls was only a little smaller than this pub.

It was an 'L' shaped room with what looked like two small backrooms. One must have been where more alcohol was kept, while the other looked to be a toilet. It was also quite dark. There were no windows and the floor and wall were a dark wood. The only light there was was from the few that were on the ceiling and dimmer ones on the wall. So even though it was barely noon, the pub made it feel like it was night.

The two were in a the corner, away from what little people were actually in the bar. Sofya said it would be easier if they stayed out of the way of people. Eibhlín missed Damon being around. He made an effort to keep their presence quiet. Sofya made an effort, but it wasn't much of an effort.

"Men are dumb." Eibhlín muttered as she took a drink from her bottle once more.

"Aw, wouldja lowk at tha'." Eibhlín's attention turned towards the Scottish accent to two men, both with light red hair. The one who was talking sat next to her. Sober Eibhlín would have smiled politely, but drunk Eibhlín scowled at him. "Wha' are two lasses like yourself doing here?"

"What does it look like?" Sofya asked simply, making Eibhlín snicker. The man sitting by Eibhlín raised an eyebrow back at Sofya as the other leaned down with his hands on the back of Eibhlín's chair. The action had Eibhlín stop snickering. She didn't like this man being so close to her.

"Yah know tha' there's a partah happening noaw?" The man standing asked, grabbing and taking Eibhlín's bottle of gin from her grasp from above her head. "We all woul' appreciate if yah would leave."

"Oye, de fock are ya doin'?" Eibhlín snapped as she stood up, turning around to look at the man held the bottle over his head.

"Gin is fer a man, bewtiful." He smiled before he started drinking out of Eibhlín's bottle.

"Ya know, I do not appreciate havin' me drink stolen." Eibhlín snapped as she stood up on her chair, slightly wobbly from the sudden movement and dizzy spell. "I would like it back." Eibhlín hissed as she stood and grabbed the bottle back from him.

"Wehll, like I said, there's a partah happenin' and I would appreciate jyah and jyere prettah friend leave." He muttered as he tried to grab the bottle from Eibhlín's hands once more, but Eibhlín hopped down from the chair and sat back down.

"I dought ya said dis place would be acceptin' of women drinkin'." Eibhlín grumbled back to Sofya as she ignored the annoyed look from the Scottish man.

"Usually it is." Sofya said with a smile. "But like the men said, there's a party happening. There are other places we can go if you would like." Sofya shrugged as she stood up from the table.

"Anythin' ta get away from dese moronic men." Eibhlín hissed as she pulled herself up from her spot and placed her almost empty bottle onto the table.

"Mowronic men, ayh?" The Scottish man snapped, grabbing Eibhlín by the shoulder. Eibhlín lost her breath for a second as she remembered her father grabbing her by the shoulder. Before she could even think, Eibhlín grabbed onto the man's arm and threw him across the room over the bar. The man smashed into the bartender and fell against a shelf that broke against his weight, making multiple bottles fall and shatter to the floor. Sofya raised an eyebrow at the action as Eibhlín lightly stepped backwards.

"Are yah insan'?" The other man who had been sitting quickly stood up and snapped, glaring at Eibhlín. "There are humans in here." The man snapped.

"I-I did not mean-" Eibhlín sputtered out before the smell hit her. Blood.

"Listen, Alistair is nah a friendlah man. He is dowhn now, so jyah must leave." The man said in a hushed voice, nodding towards the door. "This is birthday partah for his friend and almost everyone in here is friends with Alistair." The man continued as he placed a hand on Sofya's back to try and push her towards the door.

"You are right to worry." Sofya chuckled out as she quickly snapped the man's neck. Eibhlín gasped as Sofya only circled her face with her finger. Eibhlín's hands quickly sprang up to her own face as she felt veins crawling below her eyes.

"Tha' bitch!" The Scottish man's accent suddenly snapped as he stood up behind the bar. Cuts from the glass bottles were all over his body with blood around his mouth.

"Bit early for a pub brawl, but if yah want!" Another man said cheerfully before standing up and grabbing onto the man sitting beside him and slamming him to the ground. This man, Alistair, quickly jumped over the bar and began stomping towards Sofya and Eibhlín. Eibhlín looked over at Sofya with a fearful look in her eyes. Sofya looked back at Eibhlín. There was no emotion as Sofya sat back down at the table.

"Sofya!" Eibhlín snapped, looking back at the woman as she simply sipped on the remainder of her drink. Eibhlín turned around, only to see a flash of the man. Eibhlín let out a scream as she felt her hair being pulled upwards. After a second, her feet left the ground and she was held up by her hair. Eibhlín quickly grabbed onto Alistair's arm and dug her nails into his arm to try and relieve some of the pressure from her head.

"Liasten here, yah stuewpid bitch, don'tcha ever touch me again!" Alistair snapped as he threw Eibhlín against the back wall. Eibhlín tried to dig her nails into his arm deeper, but nothing seemed to phase him.

"Get off of me!" Eibhlín screamed as she kicked him in the groin. Alistair let out a groan as he let go of her hair. Vampires felt pain, but maybe privates were more sensitive. Eibhlín kept that as a mental note as she quickly shoved him backwards. She grabbed her bottle she had been drinking by its neck and hit it against the table. Luckily, the bottle became jagged with the neck still in tact. "I did not mean ta drow ya!" Eibhlín snapped as Alistair stood up once again. "I-it was an accident!" Eibhlín snapped as he suddenly flittered over to her. Eibhlín stabbed the broken glass into the man's stomach.

"How old doyah thin' I am?" Alistair hissed as he grabbed onto the bottle's neck and pulled the bottle from his stomach. Eibhlín couldn't help the fearful look that crossed her face at how easily he had taken the bottle out of his body.

Eibhlín quickly jumped up onto the chair she had been sitting in. Alistair raised an eyebrow before he quickly walked over to her. Eibhlín pushed the back of the chair down with part of her weight, practically launching herself at him. Even with Alistair being older, Eibhlín grabbed both sides of his head and twisted as quickly as she could. When the two finally landed on the ground Eibhlín almost got up and cheered when she saw that she had snapped his neck. The bottle rolled from his hand.

"Hey, get off of him!" Eibhlín heard as two people grabbed her by the arms and pulled her up.

"Wait! Stop!" Eibhlín yelled as another came running at her with what looked like was a broke chair leg. Eibhlín screamed as the chair leg went through her chest. "Enough!" Eibhlín shrieked through the pain as she pulled one of her arms free and elbowed one of the men in the face before she quickly kicked the man who had stabbed her and punched the other man who had held her other arm. Eibhlín grabbed the chair leg and pulled it out of her chest with a high pitched yelp. Before she could even think of what she was doing, she slammed the chair into one of the man's stomach. There was the smell again. Blood.

Eibhlín stared at the man as everything else became white noise. That was, until one of the men swiped her feet and made her fall. Eibhlín blinked before she felt the pressure of a man sitting on top of her. The man pulled a knife from his side and unsheathed it.

"It ain't no real brawl unless some bitch gets fucked!" The man yelled with a laugh. Eibhlín stared in horror as the man slammed the knife down just below her throat. Eibhlín began to cough up blood as she saw the second man that she had kicked, grab the bottle and walk over to the two.

"Come on now! Yah haveto save some for the rest oaf us." The second man said with a slight cough as he held onto his stomach from where she had kicked. Eibhlín quickly kneed the man on top of her in the back of his butt before rolling backwards away from him. Eibhlín quickly pulled the knife from her under her throat and threw it back at the man. Eibhlín flinched as it hit him in the eye. The disturbing smirk on his face didn't falter as he fell to the ground.

"Yah still got figh' inyah, aye?" The man with the bottle asked as Eibhlín held onto her still bleeding wound. "Alistair said vamps were something else." The man muttered as Eibhlín continued to crawl back from the man. Eibhlín's back bumped into one of the stools that had been at the bar. As she glanced back, she saw a man begin crawling away from the bar. The smell hit her again. Blood. Maybe it was the fact that she had been starving, or the fact that she had been stabbed in multiple places, but everything became a hum as she swiftly crawled over to the man and grabbed onto him. She could feel her fangs sink into his neck and taste the blood, but she couldn't hear his screams. Perhaps she didn't want to.

"Looks like we have a vampire on our hands, huh." A different man's voice muttered, as the last bit of blood dropped from the bartenders body and into her mouth. Hands grabbed onto her arms once more, but Eibhlín was prepared. Everything blurred together after. Eibhlín hadn't remembered ever drinking anyone dry before. Along with a mixture of alcohol, Eibhlín seemed to blackout.

Sofya's laugh echoed through the pub. Eibhlín suddenly blinked. Her breath caught as she looked around her. She was standing in the middle of the pub with bodies of dead humans and vampires surrounding her. Eibhlín looked over at Sofya.

"What a show!" Sofya exclaimed with a smirk as she stood up and stepped over and around multiple bodies to get to Eibhlín. "God, new vampires are such a hoot to watch." Sofya smiled as she grabbed and pulled a piece of splinter from Eibhlín's arm. stared at Sofya.

"I-I did not mean ta! It was de alcohol." Eibhlín choked out as she stared back at Sofya.

" I am sure he will understand. Seeing that there were both vampires and humans here. And they are all dead." Sofya said casually, sipping on the last of her drink.

"Dis is not funny, Sofya." Eibhlín hissed as she once more looked around at all of the bodies...

"It is a little funny. I forgot what it was like to have basically no self control. Thank you for this laugh." Sofya snickered as she stood up from the table.

"What de FOCK!" Eibhlín screamed. "What de fock is yer problem!" Eibhlín snapped, feeling her body begin to shake. Sofya gave back a lazy smile and a shrug.

"I tried to tell you to stop, but it must have been a while since you last feed. I could not really do anything." Sofya shrugged as she kicked one of the men on the ground before stepping over him.

"Yer older and stronger! Ya could have stopped me!" Eibhlín snapped as Sofya stood in front of her now.

"I like to watch. I kill so often, it becomes a treat to see others, besides myself, kill." Sofya said with a chuckle. Eibhlín suddenly shoved Sofya back, making her trip on one of the multiple bodies. As quickly as everything had started, it was over.

New York City; 2010

"Like I said, I could have prevented it, but what's the fun in that?" Sofya asked with a smirk. "Did you know your friend was a murderer?" Sofya asked towards Caroline who was shaking. "Not so tough and mighty now without your little necklace, hmm?" Sofya asked with a pout.

"Where is de necklace?" Eve snapped, feeling her fingernails dig into her palms from how tightly her fists were balled. Sofya rolled her eyes as she pulled the heart shaped necklace out of her pocket.

"Very tacky." Sofya muttered. "Don't you agree?" Sofya asked, once again, towards Caroline. "Really, nothing to say to that either?" Sofya continued, grabbing Caroline's chin and forcing her to look at Sofya. "Ooh, too bad." Sofya said with a pout. "And remember, not a peep." Sofya said in a childish voice as she suddenly sank her teeth into Caroline's neck. Like Sofya said, Caroline remained silent, but her expressions showed anything but content for what was happening.

"Sofya, dat's enough!" Eve snapped as she flittered over to Sofya to grab Caroline. Sofya was a lot quicker and let go of Caroline before shoving a stake into Eve's stomach and slamming her against the opposite side of the alleyway. Eve couldn't help the sudden pained gasp as she looked down at the stake.

"You and I both know that I could have easily killed you." Sofya muttered lowly. Eve grabbed onto Sofya's hands to try and make her release the grip, but with that action, Sofya pushed the stake deeper into Eve. "And I could have killed that bimbo over there too." Sofya snapped, glaring back at Caroline who was slumped against the dumpster with her hand against her neck. "But I didn't." Sofya said, turning her attention back to Eve. "With her, it's because she actually had the guts to hit me. With you, it's because you're smart enough to know better."

"Why are ya tellin' me dis?" Eve hissed making Sofya roll her eyes and twist the stake further through Eve, making Eve gasp from the pain.

"Because. I work for many people, but my number one client will always be me. " Sofya muttered, ripping the stake from Eve's stomach suddenly. "I don't work for him . He is scum beneath my feet." Sofya growled as Eve fell to her knees and took in a deep breath ,despite the pain. "I live here. So does he. We have an understanding."

"Aye, and what's dat?" Eve snapped, holding onto her stomach and glaring back up at Sofya.

"Stay out of each other's hair." Sofya muttered. "He has his men, I have my clients." Sofya continued. "I'm not one for torture. He is. Killing is what I aim for while he aims for indescribable pain. We have two very different methods of getting what we want." Sofya shrugged, stepping back from Eve, putting her hands in her pockets. "I, however, do like to cause a bit of mayhem. Which is why you and your little human are still alive." Eve stared at Sofya, her brows furrowed in confusion.

"Why?" Eve asked, staring back at Sofya. Sofya shrugged.

"You never killed any of my family or friends. So I will spare yours." Sofya said casually, pulling her hand out of her pocket and holding onto Caroline's necklace. Eve couldn't help the sudden relief that washed over her face. As Eve went to grab the necklace, Sofya grabbed onto her wrist and pulled Eve from the ground swiftly. Sofya's head leaned near Eve's ear. "But be warned, just because I won't kill your friends, doesn't mean he won't. So be cautious. This is his city." Sofya muttered lowly before she flittered away.

Eve held onto the necklace for a second. This spontaneous trip was turning into a nightmare at the cost of Caroline's safety. Eve quickly ran over to Caroline after she had a few seconds for her stomach to heal slightly. Eve's heart nearly stopped as Caroline flinched when Eve kneeled beside her. Caroline looked up at Eve with large and scared blue-green eyes. Eve bit the inside of her cheek as she bit into her own wrist before shoving it against Caroline's mouth.

"I'm sorry Caroline." Eve muttered as she held onto Caroline's head to keep her from moving away from her wrist. "I should know by now dat I shouldn't make friends. I should. But ya have dis bright and shiny personality and it's intriguin'." Eve muttered as she felt Caroline's hands against her arm, holding onto it as she drank Eve's blood. "Fer de first time, in a really long time, I have a friend." Eve muttered as she felt tears well up in her eyes. Caroline pulled back now. Eve glanced at Caroline's neck as she saw the wound almost fully healed and saw dried blood surrounding it. Eve let out a sigh. "Ya can talk." Eve compelled lightly as she grabbed Caroline's purse and opened it. Eve pulled out her own purse from Caroline's bag before she began snooping.

"I know you have a sad life, but...I...I don't think I'm your first friend." Caroline muttered. Eve couldn't help the laugh the left her as she pulled out a packet of wet-wipes from Caroline's purse and pulled a wipe out.

"Ya seem ta be takin' all of dis rather well." Eve muttered as she lifted Caroline's hair and began rubbing away the dry blood around her wound. Caroline slightly flinched as Eve tapped the wipe against the wound.

"I feel like something like this has happened before." Caroline sighed. "It seems familiar."

"Not with me, dough." Eve said as she patted Caroline's neck one last time before throwing the dirty and bloody wet-wipe away from the two. "With Damon, probably." Eve let out a sad laugh as she looked back at Caroline. Caroline looked off in the distance for a second before she shrugged.

"So, you're like, what? A vampire?" Caroline asked with a slight mocking tone in her voice. Eve remained silent as she felt her chest vibrate. Eve reached down her dress and into her bra to find her phone. She must have absentmindedly shoved it there.

Driver: Two blocks away.

Eve sighed as she read the text. Caroline raised an eyebrow back at her. Eve put her phone back into her purse and turned her attention towards Caroline.

"Listen ta me now." Eve said as she held onto Caroline's face. "Ya will forget everythin' dat just happened." Eve began to compel Caroline. "All ya know is dat we ran inta a friend of mine. We didn't want ta be near her, so we left ta get whatever ya want." Eve continued to compel her. "Ya understand?" Eve asked. Caroline nodded. Eve let out a sigh as she stood up and helped Caroline up.

"Is there a reason we're in a dark alleyway?" Caroline asked, leaning down and grabbing hers and Eve's purse. Eve took her purse and led Caroline out of the alley and back into the lights of New York.

"Ya saw somethin' shiny." Eve lied. "And it was yer necklace." Eve said, remembering she had placed it into Caroline's purse while she was searching for the wet-wipes. "Ya put it in yer purse." Eve shrugged as she saw a Rolls Royce pull up to the side of the sidewalk, near where Caroline and Eve were standing. Caroline rummaged through her purse and quickly grabbed the necklace. "Come on, I can put it on in de car." Eve said, nudging Caroline towards the car.

"Jesus Christ, Eve! What happened?" Caroline asked as she stared in horror at the bloody circle where Sofya had staked Eve in the stomach.

"Nothin', and yer goin' ta not worry about it." Eve compelled Caroline once more as she opened the back door to the car and nudged Caroline in. The fearful look on Caroline's face vanished as quickly as it had appeared. Eve felt guilt begin to well up as she slid into the car behind Caroline, placing the purse in front of the hole in her stomach.

"That wasn't an hour." Ethan, muttered.

"Well, long story short, Eve has a bitchy old friend." Caroline muttered with detest in her voice. Eve couldn't help but snicker. "So we're going to get Chinese instead." Caroline smiled as she handed Eve the necklace before she turned her body so Eve could put the necklace on. Eve glanced up at the rear view mirror to see Ethan's face. His attention seemed to be on Eve.

"Eve?" Ethan asked. Eve froze. Her whole persona in New York was 'Mira' to make sure people didn't question her for using the mayor's money. Eve thought quickly.

"Me middle name." Eve lied quickly as Caroline seemed to ignore the entire conversation. "Otherwise she makes fun of me name. She pronounces it 'Moiwra'." Eve shrugged as she clasped the necklace and moved Caroline's hair out from under it. Ethan stared for a few more seconds before he seemed to accept her words and began to drive.

"Her whole name sounds like a cigarette company. Like. Eve is the most normal part." Caroline continued the lie, despite Eve ever telling her she had to. "We're just going to order in, right?" Caroline asked back to Eve, changing the subject back to food.

"We're just goin' ta order it ta de room." Eve agreed. "If dat's okay with ya." Eve sassed back at him. "Driver." Eve said a little quieter. Her eyes met his in the rear view mirror. A slightly lighter mood filled the car as everyone went silent for a little while.

"Didn't we find out his name was Ethan?" Caroline whispered over to Eve. Eve smiled.

"I did. But if he's already moody, better ta keep it on de down low." Eve shrugged as she whispered back to Caroline. "So, what's de best Chinese in all of NYC?" Eve asked to Ethan.

"Xi'an Famous Foods. It's close to Four Seasons, and their reviews are high." Ethan said after a few seconds of thinking.

"Oooh, sounds nice." Caroline smiled cheerfully. Eve leaned back in her seat. She needed something to make her feel less guilty. "I wonder what Matt is eating?" Caroline said absentmindedly. Eve chuckled.

"Gross." Eve muttered making Caroline scoff.

"Easy for you! All Damon does is drink bourbon." Caroline sassed. "God Eve, just let me miss my cute boyfriend my way and you miss Damon your way." Caroline muttered as she pulled her phone from her purse and began texting. Eve rolled her eyes with a smile as she felt Ethan's eyes staring at her.

"Caroline; Damon isn't me boyfriend." Eve sassed back, looking back over to Caroline.

"May as well be." Caroline muttered, only then feeling Eve's glare. Caroline glanced over at Eve and winked. "You're not the greatest at commitment." Caroline sassed with a mischievous smile. Eve's phone buzzed in her purse, slightly making her grimace from it being against her still very fresh stab wound. Eve took her phone from her purse carefully and looked at her newly received message.

Caroline: bad w/ comitment = 1nitestands ;)

Eve rolled her eyes with a slight smile before she looked at the rest of her messages.

Caroline: where u at?

Waiter is here

Told her 2 wait

Ugh

ABOUT TIME

WHY IS SHE HERE? EW

Eve snickered as she read over Caroline's longer text. She must have hit the 'enter' button instead of actually sending them. Eve continued as she saw a few unread messages from Damon.

Damon: Stefan is being a pain. Elena does NOT like my snark.
Sent: 3:34 PM

Damon: When are you coming back?
Sent: 5:45 PM

Damon: I know you just left like 5 hours ago and all, but come back?
Sent: 6:02 PM

Damon: You're probably there already. You drive like a fucking lunatic.
Sent: 6:13 PM

Damon:ELENA IS A PAIN - KILL ME
Sent: 7:26 PM

Eve snickered at the messages. It was supposed to take around 7 hours or so to get to New York from Mystic Falls, but Eve wasn't about to drive for 7 hours, so she made it in 5. Caroline hated her driving, but Eve got them both their safe. And at least Elena wasn't dead yet. Eve looked at her clock on her phone. It was eight now, which meant Elena was still alive. Which was a good sign.

Along with it being eight, that meant that it really was distance that kept Eve from going into the past from Stefan's hallucinations, or whatever they were. Eve was a little worried about going to sleep. How was she supposed to explain to Caroline that she was having dream hallucinations from the 1800's because Stefan Salvatore sired her back in the 1900's? Eve shook her head. She could worry about that later. Now all she needed to worry about was unbelievable amount of guilt from compelling Caroline and the creeping fear of running into Alistair.

The last time she 'ran into' him was back in 1997. Technically 2000, when she escaped from his torture dungeon with the help of one of his 'henchmen', as he liked to call them. Eve had beat Alistair then and she would do it again...but just the thought of him finding out about Caroline had her skin crawl. Especially with Caroline being a human.

"Eve, come on." Caroline's voice snapped Eve out of her thoughts. Eve looked out the window to see that they were at the hotel. Eve let out a sigh as she opened the door and got out, careful as to not show her wound. Eve stumbled slightly, but held onto the door to ground her.

"You're so hungry that you're getting dizzy?" Caroline asked as she slid out of the car and grabbed onto Eve's arm. Eve only gave a smile back as she let go of the car door and took in a deep breath.

"Somethin' like that." Eve muttered as she continued to hold onto her purse. "Driver, I dink we're good fer de day. If we really need anythin', I'll call." Eve turned around and muttered towards Ethan. Ethan didn't say anything. Eve rolled her eyes and shut the door. "So, do ya want ta look up dat Xi-an place? See if dey have a menu online?" Eve asked back to Caroline as she felt wind behind her. Eve glanced back to see the car drive off.

Eve hissed a she finally pulled off her dress. Eve looked at the pink, fleshy wound on her stomach. She really needed blood. Every little movement on the way up to the room felt like the wound kept being opened. It had been about a day since she last had any blood, but she had just hoped that she could hold off until Caroline fell asleep. Unfortunately, it looked like she was going to have takeout instead. Or, more so, the person bringing the takeout.

"So, I was reading this little pamphlet in the 'spa' area," Caroline said against the closed bathroom door. "Apparently, we can have a 'mass-use' come here from seven in the morning to nine at night."

"Ya mean 'masseuse'?" Eve called back. A silence filled the air making Eve chuckle. "If ya really wanted, ya could have a personal trainer too." Eve continued as she gently put on a large, flow-y shirt. The less fabric that touched her body, the better.

"Why have a personal trainer when I could have someone pampering me practically all day?" Caroline asked as Eve rolled up her dress and shoved it under her arm. "You know, we could both be getting massaged, but I would think yours would be by Ethan." Caroline jumped when Eve opened the door. "Or are you too involved with Damon?" Caroline asked with a sly smile. Eve rolled her eyes.

"Care, Damon and I are friends. Why do ya keep insistin' dat we're more?" Eve groaned as she walked around Caroline and towards the bedroom.

"Because!" Caroline said back, following Eve. "Anyone who has spent five minutes with the both of you would think the same thing." Caroline said folding her arms. "Especially Damon. He always has this look on his face that screams 'I'm desperately in love with my best friend'." Caroline sassed making Eve let out a laugh. "You laugh but even my mom, who is oblivious to anything that involves relationships, has asked me about you two." Caroline sassed as Eve shoved the dress into her dufflebag.

"Yer ma is askin' if Damon and I are a ding?" Eve asked, looking back up at Caroline as she stood up carefully.

"Yes." Caroline said flatly. Eve, once again, laughed. "Eve! This is no laughing matter!" Caroline said quickly. "My mom doesn't talk to me about ANYTHING. And what she does talk to me about it literally 'I know I asked you this already, but has it happened yet?'. And I know what she's talking about!" Caroline laughed as Eve walked around Caroline to go to the living room.

"Damon and I are friends, Care." Eve sighed. "Why do ya dink I had flirt with our driver?" Eve sassed back as she sat down on the couch. Caroline stood in front of her and rolled her eyes.

"I know you were flirting, but that's just who you are. A flirty person." Caroline said, folding her arms. "I'm just saying, if you actually end up with Ethan, I think you're going to regret it." Caroline sighed and shook her head. As if she was disappointed in Eve for thinking about sleeping with someone she hadn't even physically slept with. Eve rolled her eyes as she heard the phone of the suite ring.

"Dat's probably the takeout." Eve said as she forced herself to get up. "Ya can stay here and continue ta dink about me and Ethan and Damon in a three-way if ya want. Ring yer ma and let her know dat's what's goin' on." Eve sassed as she walked by Caroline. Caroline let out a disgruntled noise as Eve went and pressed the button to the elevator. When Eve walked into the elevator, Caroline was looking over at her. "It could be a fourway if ya would like. Ya could join. I just dought yer ma may not want ta hear dat." Eve sassed making Caroline physically grimace as the elevator doors closed.

Eve pressed the 'main floor' button and leaned against the wall as the elevator started moving down. She couldn't help but snicker. Never in her life had she ever had a friend tell her not to sleep with someone. Most likely because every time she had an opportunity to sleep with a man, she ended up sleeping with him and staying together for at least a week. Which would be perfect for Ethan since she planned on staying for a week. Even with the guilt and looming fear of Alistair showing up.

The elevator door opened at the main floor. Eve looked out to see a few people in the lobby, including the man holding takeout food. Eve smiled and waved him over.

"Hi, are you Miss Forbes?" The man asked as he walked over to the elevator.

"No, but she's in de room. Let me help ya." Eve said as she reached and grabbed a bag of takeout with a slight protest. "Come on, I've got a shit arm." Eve said, slightly dangling her left arm as if it was hurt. The man nodded hesitantly as he walked into the elevator. "Ya look confused." Eve said gently as she pressed the '52 floor' button.

"I've only brought takeout here twice and I've only ever used the other eleva-" Eve put the sack she was holding on the ground and grabbed onto the man's shoulders.

"Put down the takeout." Eve compelled. The man put the sack on the ground with a confused look on his face. "Don't make a sound." Eve continued to compel the man. The man nodded. Eve ignored the look of fear as she felt her face change and she quickly bit into the man's neck and started to drink his blood. Eve practically jumped out of her skin when she felt her pocket begin to vibrate. Eve pulled her phone out of her pocket and rolled her eyes. "Day, I'm a little busy." Eve muttered as she answered the phone.

"Oh yeah? What are you doing?" Damon asked back instantly.

"I'm tryin' ta drink." Eve rolled her eyes as the man slunk back away from her.

"Ooh, what kind? Alcohol wise or person wise?"

"It's goin' ta be alcohol wise if ya keep talkin'." Eve snarked back.

"Person wise, then." Damon said casually. "She's a vampire. Unlike some vampires, she can control herself." Damon sassed away from the phone. Eve's eyebrow raised slightly. "Call me back when you're done killing, okay?" Damon said cheerfully before he hung up. Eve pulled the phone from her ear and looked at the screen to see that he did hang up.

The elevator door dinged open. Eve whipped around quickly and pressed the 'close door' button quickly. The man tried to run to the opened door, but Eve grabbed onto his shoulder and held him back in the elevator.

"Don't move." Eve compelled quickly, glaring back at the man. The same fearful look crossed his face as Eve went back to his neck.

After a minute or two, Eve could feel the man start to sag slightly. Eve pulled away and the man fell to the floor of the elevator. Eve bent down and bit her wrist and shoved it into his mouth. Eve flinched when she looked at the man again only to see Caroline. Eve quickly shook her head and pulled her wrist from the man.

"Ya will forget dat dis happened. Ya came and delivered takeout and dat's it. It was normal." Eve compelled the man, who simply nodded. Eve pulled the man to his feet before she reached into her pocket and pulled out a 50 dollar bill. "Keep de change." Eve shrugged as she reached into one of the sacks and pulled out a napkin. Eve looked at the reflection from the elevator walls and wiped the blood from her face and the man's neck before she grabbed both bags. "Danks." Eve smiled as she pressed the 'open door' button.

"No, thank you!" The man said excitedly as he looked at the 50 dollar bill. Eve let out a sigh as she walked out of the elevator before the doors closed.

"Jeez, took you long enough." Eve heard Caroline complain from the living room. Eve walked in and rolled her eyes. "You get the goods?" Caroline said in a mock deep voice.

"Ya boss, I got de goods." Eve mocked back with a smile as she lifted the two sacks up slightly. "Here, I have ta call Damon." Eve said as she walked past Caroline and put the two sacks onto the table underneath the giant chandelier.

"And tell him goodnight and that you love him?" Caroline asked as walked over to the table and began to rummage through the sacks.

"Damon isn't Matt." Eve sassed back as she pulled her phone out and called Damon. Caroline mocked Eve under her breath as she took out her kung poa chicken and sat at the table.

"My, my, that was a quick drink, Evie." Damon said as he picked up. Caroline placed a different takeout box on the other side of the small table and motioned for Eve to sit. "You didn't even play with your food." Damon said in a pouty voice making Eve laugh. Caroline nodded for her to sit, which Eve did with a roll of her eyes. Damon let out an annoyed sigh turning Eve's attention back to her phone. "You didn't kill them, did you?" Damon asked in an annoyed voice.

"No." Eve said back with her eyebrow, once again, raising. "Is Elena still there?" Eve asked causing Caroline to look over at her. Eve swatted her hand at Caroline as Eve opened up her own takeout box with orange chicken.

"Yeah. She won't leave. Stefan is the looove of her lifeeee." Damon said in a teasing voice. Eve glance up at Caroline.

"Ooh, is Elena over at the Salvatore's?" Caroline asked and suddenly grabbed Eve's phone from her hand as Eve grabbed chopsticks from the sack. "Hey Damon! Stop making Eve jealous!" Caroline sassed into the phone as Eve reached back over to try and grab her phone. Unfortunately, age didn't outweigh height in this situation. Caroline simply leaned back and Eve's arms couldn't even reach her. "Hi Elena! Yeah, I can call you!" Caroline said cheerfully as she handed Eve her phone back.

"Sorry about dat." Eve said back into the phone.

"Don't be. Elena's had the whole 'Caroline in New York is a bad idea' stick up her ass all day." Damon muttered. Eve snickered back as she took a bite of her orange chicken.

"Ooh shit." Eve muttered out loud as she fanned her mouth.

"You okay?" Damon asked with a chuckle in his voice.

"Food. Hot." Eve muttered back as she simply ignored the burning from her mouth. "I'm goin' ta de bathroom." Eve announced to Caroline who was now glued to her phone. Caroline looked up with a smile and wiggled her eyebrows. Eve rolled her eyes and laughed.

"What are you going to do in the bathroom?" Damon asked in a suggestive voice making Eve scoff out as she left the living room. "You know, the bathroom is the dirtiest place to be." Damon continued as Eve walked into the bathroom and shut the door behind her.

"Damon. Today has been shit." Eve muttered as she walked away from the door.

"So you want me to make it better?" Damon purred making Eve roll her eyes and smile as she sat on the edge of the bathtub.

"I want ta tell ya about it because yer a vampire." Eve sassed back. "I ran inta Sofya today." Eve muttered.

"The Sofya that tried to kill you back in 1914?" Damon asked casually. Eve nodded at first before she realized that he couldn't see her.

"Aye, dat one." Eve said. "Met her on de streets and she invited herself ta dinner." Eve muttered. "She tried ta compel Caroline, but with her wearin' her necklace, no luck...which pissed her off. Long story short, she almost killed Caroline and stabbed me." Eve continued, brushing off the experience.

"Jesus, Evie. Are you okay?" Damon asked quickly.

"I'm fine. We're both fine. I...I had ta compel Caroline dough." Eve muttered lowly. "So...with bein' stabbed, I'm fine, but with Caroline...not so much." Eve sighed and began to slump.

"How did you compel her if she had her necklace?"

"Sofya tried to rile me up and make me murder a bunch of people 'fer old time sake', and Caroline got pissed and slapped her. Somewhere in dat mess, she must have lost her necklace." Eve replayed the scene in her head. "We left, Caroline noticed her necklace missin', went ta go back and get it, but I told her ta wait and I would get it. Sofya took her ta an alley and bit her and den stabbed me." Eve continued, grimacing as the memory replayed.

"But you're okay?" Damon asked again.

"I'm fine. She only got me in de stomach. She gave me Caroline's necklace. And den she left." Eve said. "And den I had ta...compel Caroline ta forget about all of it." Eve said lowly. "God, Day, I-I feel like shit about it." Eve muttered, feeling her eyes well up again.

"Evie, that...you did the right thing." Damon said back gently. "You probably gave her some of your blood to make sure she was okay and all healed up, even with you being stabbed. See, already way nicer than what I was like." Damon teased lightly making Eve laugh. "Listen, Evie, you had to compel her. Hell, I compelled her to not tell anyone about vampires and just act like it was all normal when she was with me." Damon muttered. "I know you, and you didn't do that. Evie, you're nice. You like her the way she is, high strung and all. You just got rid of the bad memories. And what's so bad about taking away the bad?" Eve let out a sigh.

"Fer bein' a horrible, terrible vampire, ya sure know how ta make a girl feel good about compellin' her friend." Eve sassed back gently making Damon snicker.

"Decades of practice. Wink." Damon sassed back making Eve snicker. "Now, what else can this terrible, horrible vampire do for a pretty, amazing girl?" Damon asked. "Besides that, have you run into any other asshats there?" Damon asked. Eve's breath caught.

"Damon...Alistair...he's here." Eve muttered out, feeling her heart begin to beat in her chest. The phone went quiet. "Day?"

"Leave. Now." Damon said suddenly. Eve sighed.

"I...Damon, it's New York City. What are de odds-"

"Eve, you need to come back. You can't be in the same city as him." Damon snapped.

"It's-"

"I know it's New York, but knowing you, out of the six or seven million people that live there, you would end up finding him." Damon muttered. Eve let out a puff of a laugh. "You have this ability about you to find the worst people in the world and piss them off. Jesus, it's like your superpower." Damon continued.

"I can't come back." Eve snapped back. "Either stay here and maybe see him, or come back ta Mystic Falls and fall inta a trance every time Stefan has blood withdrawal." Eve muttered, running her hand through her hair. "I just have ta be extra careful." Damon let out an annoyed laugh.

"So, while you're trying to relax and wait out Stefan's hallucinations, you now have to watch Caroline and make sure she stays safe from a psychopath that killed your family because of something you did back in the 1900's." Damon hissed. Eve rolled her eyes and walked over to the large window.

"Even if it's de 52nd floor, I don't understand de window in de bathroom." Eve muttered aloud. "I mean, just in de other room, dere's a telescope." Eve continued as she looked out the window to the busy city.

"I'm just saying, the last time you saw him, he kidnapped and tortured you for, what, three years? You got away, but you were alone." Damon sighed back.

"Not technically." Eve sassed. Eve couldn't help the small smile that slipped when she heard Damon let out a small huff of a laugh.

"I did my time being held captive and tortured." Damon sassed back. "And I mean, you were pretty drunk. If there was ever an opportunity to kidnap you, he picked a pretty good one." Damon chuckled. "Not the best timing though." Eve rolled her eyes.

"I would have dought he would have left New York dough after I kicked his ass fer de third time." Eve snickered.

"Are you really surprised though?" Damon asked. "I mean, the first time you met, and killed his friends, was in New York. Second was Boston, and the third was New York. If there was ever to be another fight, I would think it would happen in either Boston or New York." Damon chuckled back. "I don't want there to be another fight though." Damon said sternly making Eve snicker.

"I'm just goin' ta go find him ta fight him." Eve smiled. "De real reason I came here. Fer a fight." Eve smiled as she she heard Damon begin to laugh.

"Just...be safe." Damon sighed out after a few seconds of silent. "But listen, as soon a Stefan has all of the human stuff out of his system, you come right back, understand?" Damon snapped. Eve rolled her eyes and smiled.

"Anythin' fer ya, Damon." Eve said.

"Anything?" Damon asked back almost instantly with a suggestive tone.

"Goodnight Damon!" Eve laughed as she went to hang up. Eve paused.

"Night Evie." Now she could hang up.

Damon hung up his phone and stood up from the couch in the library. He needed another drink. Elena was in the doorway, just standing there. Damon raised an eyebrow back at her as he poured himself another glass of bourbon.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer." Damon sassed back at her.

"I'm surprised how willingly you're willing to have a picture taken, seeing that you never age. Could be found out." Elena snarked back, walking down the steps to sit on the couch.

"If anything, it could be chalked up to familiarity." Damon shrugged as he turned around and raised the glass bottle towards Elena. Elena shook her head in disgust. Damon rolled his eyes as he took a drink. "So, Blondie is still alive and kicking, I hear." Damon smiled and sat in the chair across from Elena.

"Apparently they're in a really fancy hotel?" Elena asked. Damon nodded.

"50 thousand dollars fancy, yeah." Damon shrugged back.

"Who's paying for that again?" Elena asked, as the shock left her face and judgment replaced it.

"The mayor." Damon muttered. "He pays for almost everything." Damon said. Elena rolled her eyes at that and folded her arms. "You know, before you get all judgy, Evie saved his daughter from a serious horse riding accident." Damon sassed back. "She could have died, but Evie gave her just enough blood to make sure she survived."

"I just don't understand why you're friends." Elena said, leaning back into the couch.

"What's to understand? We're both incredibly attractive vampires. Us hotties have to stick together." Damon smirked back at her. Elena let out a laugh.

"See, I mean, I know it's just who you are, but like, you are waaay more flirty with her than anyone else." Elena sassed. Damon shrugged. "If you think she's so attractive, why aren't you and her together?" Elena asked bluntly making Damon nearly choke on his drink.

"Just because I think she's attractive, doesn't mean I want to date her." Damon rolled his eyes back Elena.

"So you don't want to date her?"

"I never said that."

"So you do want to date her?"

"What is this, 20 questions?" Damon grumbled

"So you do want to date her." Elena repeated. Damon let out an annoyed sigh. "Is it because she's your only friend?" Elena asked. "Are you afraid that if you actually tried to show actual emotions that she wouldn't like you?" Elena continued. Damon stood up from his chair. "You know, this silence is super loud." Elena sassed. "I mean, I saw the most emotion out of you when we had to rescue Stefan and Eve from those tomb vampires. Really, any time you two are in proximity of each other."

"What do you want me to say?" Damon snapped back. "Evie and I are friends and have been for almost a century." Damon sighed.

"Just friends?" Elena asked back. The word almost slipped out. Unfortunately.

"Yes." Damon said exasperated.

"Maybe if you weren't 'just friends' you could get over Katherine." Elena muttered lowly. Damon looked over at her as she was on her phone. Damon rolled his eyes.

He wasn't about to use his best friend to get over the first love of his life. Which was why they were 'just friends'. Damon didn't want Eve thinking that he was using her to get over Katherine. Another case of wrong place, wrong time. That seemed to be his entire relationship with Eve. Wrong place. Wrong Time.
