Saturday, Six Days Later; New York City

"I think we should probably head back today." Caroline said, not looking up from her phone, as she lounged on the couch in the living room while Eve sat opposite of her on a chair. "I still have to go to school."

"School is fer chumps." Eve muttered back, glancing up from her own phone to see Caroline's face. Caroline was looking up at her with a blank expression which made Eve laugh. "How about tomorrow mornin'?" Eve asked. "So we could get back and have time ta relax. Plus, I don't have to drive in de dark." Caroline nodded.

"I don't want to think of how you drive at night." Caroline said cryptically making Eve laugh. "I would prefer to live until I graduate high school. I told you! 17 is such a filler year." Caroline muttered.

"I didn't dink a filler year would be dis expensive." Eve sassed as she gestured towards the room. Caroline scoffed.

"Okay, I have to admit, this whole week has been really cool." Caroline said as she stood from the couch and walked over towards the little table with the large chandelier and window. "Listen, just because you came into my life doesn't mean that 17 isn't still a filler year." Caroline sassed as she walked around the table and looked out the window. "You can't just change my perspective of my whole year because you're making it better." Caroline continued to sass as she looked out the window. Eve couldn't help but snicker.

"So, where do ya want ta eat fer yer last night in New York?" Eve asked throwing her legs over the chair's legs so she faced Caroline without actually getting up.

"Anywhere where we don't run into someone you hate and have to have dinner with." Caroline muttered making Eve roll her eyes.

"Listen, I told ya I was sorry about dat, Care. I didn't know she was goin' ta come ta dinner with us." Eve groaned. "I know it was awkward fer ya and I'm really sorry about dat. Which is why I'm askin' ya ta pick so we don't run inta someone from me glorious past." Eve sighed.

"Does that include Ethan?" Caroline asked with a little smirk. Eve rolled her eyes as she stood up from her chair. "I was kidding!" Caroline whined. "Come on, you know I'm super sensitive with your feelings." Caroline continued to whine as she stood up and walked over to Eve.

"Ya say as ya bring it up again." Eve sassed as Caroline came over and hugged her. "I'm fine, Care." Eve rolled her eyes as she hugged Caroline back.

"I'm just hugging you because I told you so." Caroline muttered as her chin rested on top of Eve's head. Eve rolled her eyes and pushed Caroline away. "I know you don't want to hear it, but this is good news!" Caroline smiled excitedly at Eve. Eve groaned. Caroline had spent the entire day ignoring the topic, but now that's all she wanted to talk about. Eve was annoyed by it.

"Care, what is so good about not gettin' laid?" Eve muttered as she walked around Caroline to the bedroom.

"What's good is that we can finally talk about Damon!" Caroline chirped as she followed Eve. "I'm not the one to cockblock you, Eve." Caroline sassed, folding her arms. Eve mocked her under her breath as she began rummaging through her dufflebag to find something nice to wear for the night.

"Care, I...It feels like decades since I've felt like dis towards Damon. I just need a bit of time ta...ta process." Eve muttered as she pulled out a pair of black heels. "Do ya dink dese will go with de dress I got yesterday? I'm dinkin' we could go somewhere super fancy tonight as a last night kind of ding." Eve said, showing the tall black heels with a 'peep toe'. Caroline looked over the shoes and nodded.

"They look cute. I think I already have some green heels. I knew we were going to go someplace nice. Yesterday you made me get a dress." Caroline sassed as she walked over to a dresser, where she had put most of her clothes. "And I gave you all day to process." Caroline continued, making Eve slump. She really needed to stop getting her hopes up that Caroline would ever drop anything.

"I wasn't really processin', I was just kind of ignorin'." Eve sassed as she stood up and walked over to the closet. Caroline scoffed. She wanted to make sure that the shoes were going to be tall enough or if Eve had to hem the bottom of the dress.

"Eve, come on. You literally didn't have sex with a hunk of a man because of Damon." Caroline sassed as she turned back around as Eve pulled out the long royal blue dress from the closet.

"Ya know dis closet door costs a million dollars?" Eve asked as she laid the dress on the bed. "I mean, it's a pretty door, but a million dollars?" Eve continued to mutter as Caroline walked around Eve to the closet.

"It wouldn't surprise me, with the room costing literally half a million." Caroline sassed back. "And you can't just keep avoiding me or the subject." Caroline sassed as she pulled out her own dress and placed it on the bed next to Eve's. "These are really similar, we're going to be like twins." Caroline smiled as she looked at both dresses.

The dresses were similar, with both having off-the-shoulder sleeves and both being long. The difference was that Caroline's dress was a dark green with a sweetheart neckline, and Eve's was a dark blue with an 'a-line'. Plus, Eve's was more lacy. Caroline didn't care for the lace, calling it 'old-fashioned', but 'cute on you!'. Eve felt a little older than 22 at the comment.

"I dink I can avoid de subject. Look! I'm doin' it now!" Eve smiled as she began undressing to be able to put on her dress and heels.

"Getting undressed doesn't make me less obnoxious." Caroline sassed as Eve. "Cute bra, by the way." Caroline said nonchalantly as she turned and walked back over to the dresser. "Did Ethan get to see it?" Caroline asked making Eve roll her eyes.

"Nope, because I showered and put on a new one. 'Cause I'm not gross." Eve sassed back as she unzipped the back of her dress and began to put it on.

"It would have made sense. Cute versus sexy. If you wore something cute, you really weren't going to sleep with him to begin with." Caroline muttered making Eve roll her eyes as she turned the dress around and zipped it up before twisting it back around to the front and putting her arms through the sleeves.

"Ya dink way too inta dese dings." Eve muttered as she leaned over and put on her black heels. "I dought dey were moderately sexy." Eve shrugged as she stood up and looked in the mirror. To her surprise, the dress didn't need to be hemmed. It was just long enough to cover her shoes, but not so long that if she walked, she would trip and fall on it.

"'Moderately'?" Caroline asked, turning back around with a pair of green heels in her hand. "That's cute!" Caroline smiled as she looked at Eve in the mirror.

"Aye, moderately. If ya haven't noticed, I don't go around flauntin' me stuff." Eve sassed back as she turned around to look at Caroline. "Dose shoes are cute." Eve nodded as she began her process of taking her dress off. She still had to do her hair and makeup.

"You so could though. That dress last night said you could." Caroline said, wiggling her eyebrows. "Do you need proof? I still have a picture of you!" Caroline smiled making Eve roll her eyes. "And you so could go around flaunting your stuff. Especially now that you've realized that you love Damon." Caroline smiled as she put the shoes beside her dress. "These shoes were actually on sale. They were supposed to be like 300 dollars, but they were only like 50." Caroline chirped. "Do you think they match?" Caroline asked. Eve glanced over at the bed as she put her dress back down beside Caroline's.

"Yer shoes are a little lighter dan de dress, but not by much. And if someone is focusin' on a shade difference of yer shoes, do ya really care what dey dink?" Eve asked as she began walking to the bathroom, not putting a shirt on. "And I don't love him." Eve sassed back.

"Not really. The dress is long enough as it is, so if someone could see my shoes, they may as well be seeing up my dress. And if they were focussing on my shoes instead of my undies, then I would be a little concerned." Caroline said as she followed Eve. "And you totally love him. Maybe it's just as a friend right now, but there's a reason you didn't sleep with Ethan because of him." Caroline sassed as the two walked into the bathroom together. "What do you think I should do with my hair?" Caroline asked as Eve headed towards her makeup bag.

"Ya could do one of dose fancy buns with a braid or somethin'. I can't do it dat well, because me hair has too many flyaways." Eve shrugged as she began looking into her makeup bag for a dark blue eyeshadow. "He's me best friend, Care. After a while, ya start ta love dem."

"That sounds cute and not difficult." Caroline smiled. "And I don't know, we've been friends for almost two months and I wouldn't not sleep with Matt because I felt guilty about it because you're my friend." Caroline shrugged as she pulled out a brush from her large bathroom bag. Eve rolled her eyes as she pulled herself onto the sinks countertop.

"Dere's a different between two months and a few decades." Eve muttered as she began to do her makeup. Caroline's scoff didn't phase her.

"Decades? So, what, you were friends when you were first born?" Caroline sassed back as she began brushing her hair. Eve blinked before she continued with her makeup.

"It's a figure of speech, Care." Eve sassed back. It wasn't. It was slip of the tongue. "It has been at least a decade dough." Eve muttered. At least.

"Okay, fine, whatever. I'm just saying, you can't ignore it forever. Especially when we go back home." Caroline sassed as she ran her hands through her hair. "Do you think I should straighten my hair?" Caroline asked. Eve stopped doing her makeup for a second and looked over.

"I dink ya would be okay without. Yer hair's already straight." Eve shrugged. "It would save ya time, too." Eve said, turning back to her makeup.

"Eve, you can't ignore it!" Caroline hissed as she began parting her hair into separate pieces. "What more can I say to make you understand. You didn't sleep with a hot guy because of Damon." Caroline said, emphasizing her words. "Unless you just told me that because he was bad." Caroline muttered as she put part of her hair into a bun. Eve sighed.

"Care, listen, it's just a lot ta take in. I've been pretty oblivious ta de fact dat I lov-" Eve cut herself off quickly. "Damon is me best friend." Eve muttered out. "It's hard ta imagine him any other way." Eve grumbled as she pulled out her eyeliner.

"I know I joke about it a bunch, but I really think if you just slept with Damon, you could get this all over with. For good or for bad." Caroline muttered with a bobby-pin in her mouth as she began to braid her hair. Eve huffed out a breath.

"I can't just go up ta him and be like 'Damon, long story short, couldn't sleep with a guy in New York because of ya. Take me.'" Eve sassed back at Caroline who snorted. "Dis isn't some fairytale."

"What kind of fairytales are you reading?" Caroline snickered back as she pulled the bobby-pin from her mouth and shoved it into her hair to make her braid stay above her low bun.

"De Brothers Gimm." Eve sassed back. "Horrible fairytales, so much murder and gore." Eve continued as she pulled herself back from the mirror to see her handywork. A nice blue eyeshadow with a peachy glow and winged eyeliner. Eve smiled. Not too bad for talking through the whole thing.

"How does it look?" Caroline asked, turning to Eve. Eve looked over. Eve turned Caroline's head so she could see the back.

"Why in de world did ya ask me ta do yer hair fer Miss Mystic when ya can literally do yer own hair and make it look like a professional?" Eve sassed. Caroline had a low bun with braids practically sitting and going across the back of her head. She had even managed to make her hair bump a little bit at the top.

"You managed to do your makeup not so basic though!" Caroline smiled.

"Was dat supposed ta be a compliment?" Eve asked, folding her arms.

"Yes." Caroline said back instantly. Eve stared for a second before Caroline smiled. "I'll do your hair." Caroline smiled excitedly.

"Me hair is a mess of curls. Good luck." Eve muttered back as she hopped down from the countertop. Caroline stepped behind her and touched her hair.

"It's already cute." Caroline said with a pout making Eve laugh. "Maybe the reason you don't do anything with it is because you know that it's already super cute without doing anything." Caroline sassed. "But! Let me see what I have in my bag." Caroline said quickly as she quickly walked back over to her bag and started rummaging through it. Eve raised an eyebrow at the action.

"What do ya have in dere, Mary Poppins?" Eve asked, leaning against the counter. Caroline quickly pulled out something blue and turned back towards Eve. "Is dat a bow?" Eve asked with a raised eyebrow and a smile.

"Did you forget that I'm a cheerleader? Or, just, like, really girly?" Caroline asked as she turned Eve around. Eve felt Caroline shove the bow near the top of her head in the middle.

"Ow!" Eve yelped. Caroline hushed her.

"Don't be a baby. It has to be tight or else it won't stay in place." Caroline sassed as she grabbed a bobby-pin. Eve made a face making Caroline roll her eyes again. "It's to make sure it stays!"

"Don't ya dink dat stabbing it inta me head was enough? Is me skull not strong enough?" Eve sassed back as Caroline ignored the comment and put the bobby-pin in her hair. "Are ya done?" Eve asked as Caroline backed up.

"Yes. Now, go put on your dress and I'm going to do my makeup." Caroline smiled. Eve turned her head slightly to see the back of her hair. The little dark blue bow was cute. Eve smiled and left the bathroom and went back into the bedroom.

Once in the bedroom, Eve quickly changed her bra to one that wouldn't show with the dress. Eve was almost surprised that Caroline had convinced her to buy the dress to begin with. It had sleeves, but they were off the shoulder. But Eve knew that it was just going to used at a nice restaurant and nothing too physical, meaning her chest wouldn't interrupt anything by popping out. The dress she wore last night was meant to be taken off...this one wasn't.

Eve once more, began the process of putting her dress on. With her head barely sticking out of the head hole, Eve heard her phone start ringing. Eve let out an annoyed groan as she tried to quickly zip up her dress and twist back around. Eve grumbled as she finally got the dress twisted back around and grabbed the bottom of her dress and made her way to the living room, where she had left her phone. Eve picked it up. Damon's picture popped up.

Monday

"Okay, come on Caroline." Eve called from the bathroom. "Central Park isn't goin' ta see itself!" Eve continued as she left the bathroom and started walking to the bedroom. Eve stopped in the doorway when she saw Caroline. "Caroline, I know New York is a very modern city, but I don't dink dat walkin' around Central Park in a robe will be taken lightly." Eve sassed, folding her arms. Caroline rolled her eyes back at her.

"Eve, I told you last night that I wanted to be pampered all day!" Caroline sassed back, folding her own arms. Eve let out a scoff.

"I didn't dink ya meant it. I dought ya were just jokin' around about bein' pampered all day." Eve groaned, leaning against the door frame.

"Why would I joke about something like that?" Caroline sassed. "Listen, this place costs more than my entire college will, mostly because I've already started scholarship searching, so I'm down ten grand with my last scholarship, so I want to make this stay worth it." Caroline said, going on a slight tangent and walking to the door. "We can go to Central Park tomorrow or something, but today, I just want to relax." Caroline said putting a reassuring hand on Eve's shoulder. Eve raised an eyebrow at the action. "Come on, you can't be mad about making spontaneous plans on this spontaneous trip." Caroline sassed as she walked around Eve.

"I just don't want ta spend de day gettin' pampered." Eve shrugged as she turned around to follow Caroline.

"Well, unlike you, I don't get pampered daily by my boyfriend, so for once, I just want to be a queen." Caroline sassed as the two walked into the living room. Eve couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Don't roll your eyes at me either." Caroline sassed as she turned around to face Eve. "If you told Damon to jump, he would ask 'how high, my queen?'." Caroline said, mocking Damon's voice.

"I'm not mad, Care. I just dought we could do somethin' today." Eve muttered, ignoring the last statement. "I didn't want ya ta just be stuck up in de hotel." Eve shrugged.

"You act as if being in this hotel is like staying in a ghetto." Caroline laughed as she walked over and sat at the table underneath the chandelier. "It's a privilege to be here, not a prison." Caroline reassured. "But now I feel kind of bad...I thought you would want to spa it up." Caroline said, frowning. "If I go to the spa today, what are you going to do?" Caroline asked. Eve paused.

"I'll go ta Central Park." Eve shrugged. "I can't stay in a hotel room fer too long; I get stir-crazy." Eve continued.

"Alone?" Caroline asked, slightly worried. Eve let out a sigh before she smiled.

"Why don't I call up Ethan?" Eve asked with a smirk. Caroline's worried expression changed from worry to irritation in an instant. "

"Isn't Central Park like, less than a block away?" Caroline asked.

"Hey, ya were de one who didn't want me ta be alone in Central Park." Eve winked back, making Caroline roll her eyes. "Okay, dink of it like ds instead. If I ask Ethan ta come, maybe we could skip comin' back here and just find a bush." Eve said back, wiggling her eyebrows. Caroline let out a sigh before she shrugged.

"If it means you won't be alone...fine." Caroline sighed. "Just know that I'm 50 percent against this whole thing." Caroline said, shaking her finger at Eve.

"50 percent against it?" Eve asked with a laugh. Caroline let out an annoyed sigh.

"50 percent of it is for you and Ethan hooking up so that you can get over Damon. 50 percent against is because if you do hook up with Ethan, you may realize that you will never get over Damon." Caroline explained. "So, either you get over Damon or you realize you're in love with him." Caroline shrugged. Eve couldn't help the smile that slipped as she raised an eyebrow at her friend.

"What differentiates de percentages? Time of day?" Eve asked making Caroline roll her eyes.

"Your happiness." Caroline said, folding her arms. "The 50 for is so that you can be happy for the now, but the 50 against is so that you can be happy for the long run." Caroline muttered. "And conversations I have with Elena." Caroline shrugged.

"Ya asked Elena about dis?" Eve asked.

"No...and yes." Caroline trailed off. "Elena is worried about me being here. So she texts me a lot. And a lot of it is about how annoying Damon is." Caroline continued. "Sometimes she texts me something that sounds stupid. Sometimes she texts me things that he does that I can see you doing with him."

"Gross." Eve interrupted making Caroline let out a snort.

"Not like that you perv." Caroline sassed. "I just...as your friend, I want you to get laid, but as your best friend, I want you to be with someone who can give you more than a one-night-stand." Caroline shrugged. Eve stared at her for a second.

"Ya...ya dink I'm yer best friend?" Eve asked. Caroline raised an eyebrow back at her. "N-not dat I'm...but, I just-ya have just been friends with Elena and Bonnie a lot longer dan ya have even known me and-"

"Elena and Bonnie are my friends, yeah, but I never really felt like either one of them was my best friend. They always had each other." Caroline said. "Listen, I already said it, so no take backs." Caroline sassed. Eve couldn't help but laugh. "Another reason I'm 50 percent against the whole sleeping with Ethan things is so that Damon can be your boyfriend and I can take the spot of best friend." Caroline continued making Eve chuckle.

"Damon is me friend. I'm not ready fer somethin' more right now." Eve shrugged. "But I feel like it's a real honor ta be yer best friend." Eve said with a smile. Caroline swatted her hand back at her.

"Fine. If you're not ready to accept Damon, you should call Ethan." Caroline grumbled out with a smile. Eve rolled her eyes with a smile as she pulled out her phone from her pocket.

"Don't sound so eager." Eve sassed back, pulling up and dialling Ethan's number.

"Hello?" Ethan answered. Caroline stood up from the table.

"Hi Driver. I want ta go ta Central Park today." Eve said as Caroline walked closer and leaned her head close to the phone. Eve slightly swatted Caroline away, but Caroline simply swatted back, leaning even closer to Eve and her phone.

"Is your friend not coming?" Caroline nudged Eve. Eve rolled her eyes at the action.

"No, she wanted ta stay in and be pampered all day." Eve replied.

"Fine. But if you want to go to Central Park, I'm not driving." Eve blinked at the statement as Caroline, once more, nudged Eve. "I'll be in the lobby in five minutes." And with that, Ethan hung up. Eve looked at her phone. He was always so abrupt with his call endings.

"So it's a date." Caroline smiled. "Plus, if you do end up coming back here, I'll be in the spa!" Caroline continued. Eve couldn't help but laugh.

"Didn't we just have a 50/50 chat about dis?" Eve sassed. Caroline only shrugged.

"Well, I'm 100 percent sure that I'm not going to go over this again." Caroline chirped. "Again, I'm going to the spa."

Eve stood in the lobby. She had already been dressed and ready to go, which meant she only had to wait until Ethan showed up. A few people threw her looks as she stood around. Eve looked in the reflection of the hotel's windows. She had a black sweater with a white outline of cat's face, skinny jeans and black boots. People were probably staring because of the cat. Or the fact that such a young woman could afford to stay in the hotel...and wear a cat sweater. Eve didn't care. She had lived too long to care about what people thought.

"Are we going or what?" Eve nearly jumped out of her skin as she turned around to see Ethan.

"Aye, but I may need a change of pants seein' dat ya almost scared mine off." Eve sassed. No reaction. This was going to be hard. At least a roll of the eyes would have made her feel good. "Alright, Driver, show me de way!" Eve said pointing dramatically to the door. Once again. Nothing. Ethan began walking to the door. Eve quickly followed suit. The walk to the park was quiet. Maybe if she was quiet for a while, Ethan would talk.

"Where would you like to go?" Ethan asked as they got to what Eve assumed was the edge of the Park.

"Anywhere. It's all Central Park." Eve shrugged. Ethan simply nodded as he began walking once again. "Have you ever walked through the whole Park?" Eve asked.

"Yes." Ethan replied. Eve nodded.

"Have you always lived in New York?" Eve asked.

"No." Eve almost sighed.

The two walked in silence for a while. Eve was surprised that even with it being February, the Park was still beautiful. Luckily, the weather had been nice too. From what Eve remembered, New York seemed to get quite a bit of snow during the beginning of the year. Then again, the last time Eve lived in New York was in the 70's, and even then, the weather changed each year. Eve was just glad that there wasn't snow.

"You don't live in New York." Ethan said aloud. Eve glanced over at him and raised an eyebrow. "You're staying at the hotel." Ethan continued.

"No, I don't live in New York." Eve replied. "I'm just visitin' with me friend." Eve shrugged.

"Why only visit when you have the mayor's credit card?" Ethan asked. Eve remained silent for a second.

"It's nice here, but I don't want ta live here." Eve muttered.

"Why?"

"Me memories here aren't de best." Eve sighed. Ethan simply nodded. "Just because I use someone else's money doesn't mean I want to live where they do." Eve continued. Ethan chuckled, turning Eve's attention back to him.

"It must be nice to use someone else's money because you were nice to their daughter." Ethan muttered back. Eve stopped her walking, making Ethan stop too.

"I saved his daughter's life." Eve snapped.

"My bad; it must be nice to use someone else's money because you saved their daughter." Ethan reiterated with a snicker. Eve scoffed.

"I didn't ask fer his money."

"And yet you use it on stupidly expensive things." Ethan muttered back. "What a way to repay him." Eve stared at him.

"Just because I saved his daughter, doesn't mean that I like him." Eve muttered, folding her arms.

"Because all rich people are evil, right?" Ethan asked back.

"Is dat why yer bein' such an ass ta me?" Eve asked. "Because I used a billionaire's money ta stay in an expensive hotel room?" Eve hissed. Ethan shrugged. "'Cause all rich people are good, right?" Eve snapped back. "If ya didn't want ta come ta de Park, why did ya? Ta be a dick? Well, congratulations, missions accomplished!" Eve snarked. Ethan rolled his eyes.

"I came to the Park with you because you're an attractive woman and wanted to go to Central Park alone." Ethan muttered. Eve stared back at him.

"Ya don't know anythin' about me." Eve snapped. "I can take care of meself." Eve growled.

"You say as you nearly 'jumped out of your pants' because I came up behind you." Ethan sassed back. Eve rolled her eyes.

"If I dought ya were a dreat, I would have taken care of it." Eve muttered. Ethan let out an annoyed sigh. "Listen, if ya want ta go back ta de hotel, ya can. I'm not stopping ya." Eve snapped as she started walking towards him. "Ya get paid by de hour, yeah? Go sit around." Eve muttered as she walked past him.

Eve felt herself get more and more annoyed as she continued walking. Maybe she should have just come to the Park alone. She wouldn't have had a spat and turned her mood sour. The Park was beautiful and all she was thinking about was punching Ethan in his face.

After a while of angry walking, Eve finally felt her mood lighten. As Eve walked, she saw a statue. Eve walked towards it. As Eve got closer, she realized that it was the statue of the Husky called 'Balto'.

"I used to have a dog." Eve whipped around when she heard the voice behind her. She quickly grabbed the person and threw them on the ground. A groan filled the air as Eve blinked. Eve looked down at the man. Ethan. Eve rolled her eyes as she kneeled down next to him.

"I told ya dat I could take care of meself, didn't I?" Eve asked as Ethan grimaced and sat up. Ethan nodded as Eve held out her hand for him to take. Ethan raised an eyebrow at the action before he took her hand.

"I believe you now." Ethan muttered as he stood up straight and brushed his back off. "Where did you even learn how to do that? You're like five foot nothing." Ethan muttered.

"Self defense, Los Angeles." Eve sassed back.

"Listen...I'm sorry." Ethan sighed. Eve raised an eyebrow back at him. "And I'm not just saying this because I have to deal with you for a whole week." Ethan continued. Eve stared back at him. "That was a joke." Ethan muttered. Eve let out a huff of a laugh. "I just...I don't like people who I work for getting to know me. Because they're all rich. And if I wasn't everything they wanted me to be, they could easily fire me." Ethan sighed out. "And I'm taking it out on you, because I'm not used to people wanting to know more about me." Ethan shrugged. "So...I had a dog." Eve looked at him before rolling her eyes and sighing.

"What kind of dog?" Eve asked.

"A Yorkie." Ethan replied. Eve's eyebrows raised before she let out a laugh.

"Like, one of de small yip-yappers?" Eve laughed. Ethan nodded.

"She was a good dog. She never bit anyone's ankles...well, besides my aunt's, but she kind of deserved it." Ethan shrugged. "Glad you find my childhood dog choice a hoot." Ethan snarked.

"I don't mean ta laugh, but yer like six foot five. I just dink de dimensions are funny." Eve snickered. "I never had a dog." Eve continued, still slightly snickering. "Only a brother, and I didn't consider him a dog."

"Didn't?" Ethan asked.

"He passed away some time ago." Eve shrugged. Eve raised an eyebrow at Ethan's reaction, which wasn't' even a reaction, but rather a simple nod.

"I had a brother and a sister pass away a while ago..." Ethan shrugged back. "And my parents. In a car accident." Ethan continued, casually. Eve stared back at him. Why did he sound as if he was trying to one-up her? And why did she feel like she wanted to one-up him back.

"Me da was an ass, who died from heart failure...from drinkin' too much...and probably all the physical torment he caused de family." Eve muttered, feeling slightly guilty as it all came out. Ethan, once again, simply nodded.

"Yeah, after my family died, I inherited their house and money. That made my family pissed to the point of them threatening me to give them money." Ethan shrugged.

"I was kicked out of me home."

"I had to become anonymous."

"Me da tried ta bury me alive."

"My family killed my dog."

"Me ma and brother were murdered." Eve almost froze as she actually saw a proper reaction from Ethan. A mixture of guilt and sorrow.

"My...my best friend was killed in front of my eyes." Ethan said back quieter. Eve let out a sigh.

"I-I didn't mean ta start a 'me horse is bigger dan yer horse' competition." Eve muttered out. Ethan let out his own sigh.

"You didn't start it; I did." Ethan shook his head. "Let's start over, yeah?" Ethan asked. Eve nodded quickly, feeling even guiltier than she wanted to feel. "My name is Ethan." Eve's eyebrows furrowed together in confusion as Ethan's hand extended.

"Me name is Eve." Eve replied back. "Er-Mira." Eve quickly corrected herself as her hand went up

"It's nice to meet you, Eve." Ethan said with a chuckle as he shook her hand.

Tuesday

"I still can't believe that you and Ethan had like...a bonding experience." Caroline said as she put on her eyeshadow. "I mean, it was about like, how shitty your lives were, but I mean, hey, if it gets you closer to taking his pants off…" Caroline trailed off making Eve laugh.

"Just because I can call him Ethan, doesn't mean I can tell him ta take his pants off." Eve sassed back as she sat on the edge of the bathtub.

"Yet."

"Shut up."

"I'm just saying." Caroline said as she put her makeup in her makeup bag. "Is it going to be totally awkward since he has to drive us to Times Square?" Caroline asked, turning around. "Also, how's my makeup?"

"It's not goin' ta be awkward, Caroline. We haven't done anythin' besides argue and make peace." Eve rolled her eyes and stood up. "And aye, your makeup is cute." Eve continued. "Now, let's get goin', we said we would be down in 20, and it's 25." Eve said as she pointed at her phone. Caroline rolled her eyes as she left the bathroom with Eve behind her.

"I think he can wait." Caroline sassed as she walked out into the living room and grabbed her purse. "Do you want yours in mine again?" Caroline asked, gesturing towards her purse. Eve raised an eyebrow at her wording. Caroline rolled her eyes again. "Do you want your purse in my purse again?" Caroline rephrased.

"Aye, if ya would." Eve smiled as she walked over to the table and grabbed her own purse. "Ya know we have ta do a little bit of walkin', right?" Eve asked as she walked back over to Caroline and handed her her purse.

"What was it; six blocks?" Caroline asked as she shoved Eve's purse into her own. "I mean, I get it, but it's also kind of annoying." Caroline muttered as Eve started walking towards the elevator.

"It's either dat or wait six hours ta get ta Times Square." Eve shrugged as she pressed the button to open the elevator.

Wednesday

"Sightseeing?" Eve asked as she sat in bed, looking at her phone. Caroline nodded as she turned her own phone to show Eve. "A list of 'must visit'?" Eve asked as she leaned over to get a better look at Caroline's phone.

"We're in New York. I've spent my day being pampered and living like I know shit. Now it's time for me to put on a 'I heart NY' shirt and look at everything." Caroline sassed back as she sat on the bed beside Eve. "What's the point of being in New York without seeing anything?" Caroline asked pulling on Eve's arm. "I mean, it does help that you're with me and also we have a literal driver who lives in New York." Caroline shrugged as she finally pulled Eve out of bed.

"Fine, but yer de one who has ta tell Ethan." Eve grumbled as she handed Caroline her phone and walked over to where her shoes where. She had already gotten dressed with a dark red tank top with black skull designs covering it and black skinny jeans. She was just waiting for Caroline to want to do something so she could put on the appropriate shoes. With Caroline finally deciding, Eve pulled on the same boots she had put on Monday.

"'Kay, so he said he would be here in five. So that means we have 10 until we should go down there." Caroline said cheerfully handing Eve's phone back to her.

"Fer someone who organizes dings as a hobby, ya sure aren't good with meetin' times." Eve muttered making Caroline stare before shrugging.

"I'm very punctual. Just not when it comes to being here. Because I don't care much about meeting your potential fuck buddy." Caroline sassed making Eve burst out laughing.

"Why do we have to go to the parking lot?" Caroline asked as Ethan finally found a parking spot.

"People, both who work for the cruise and people visiting aren't very kind to those who simply pull up." Ethan muttered back. "Even the richest of rich people aren't welcomed." Ethan continued.

"So you've come here before?" Caroline asked as she unbuckled her seatbelt.

"I've taken people here." Ethan shrugged.

"But ya haven't actually been?" Eve asked. Caroline glanced over at Eve with a raised eyebrow. Eve simply swatter her attention away. There was a pause before Ethan answered.

"Well, I haven't been on the tour." Ethan said. "But I don't-"

"You should come then." Caroline blurted out. Now Eve glanced over at Caroline, who mockingly swatted back at her. "You've lived here and never visited? That's dumb. So you're coming with us. What else do you have to do?" Caroline sassed, crossing her arms. Ethan glanced back at her through the rearview mirror before blinking back at Eve.

"You won't let me say no, will you?" Ethan asked with a defeated tone. Caroline shook her head as she pulled on her dark beige leather jacket before she got out of the car and closed the door. Eve couldn't help but snicker.

"I guess yer with us." Eve shrugged as she pulled on her bright red coat. "Courtesy of Miss Forbes." Eve sassed as she opened the car door.

"I see that." Ethan mumbled as he turned off the car.

Caroline chatted the whole way to the docks and into the information center, while Eve and Ethan simply listened. Eve replied but Ethan remained silent. Though he was usually silent, he seemed moodier than usual, from what Eve noticed. The more Eve thought about it, the more she wanted to know why. He said he hadn't taken the tour, but the way he said it was strange. As if he didn't need a tour. But maybe he just didn't like boats.

"Next!" Eve was pulled from her thoughts as a man at the desk bellowed. Caroline walked up to him before looking back at Eve. Eve blinked before she walked up beside her.

"Hi!" Eve said cheerfully to the grungy looking man. No response. "We have tickets fer de tour ta-"

"Yeah, okay, what's the last name?" The man asked abruptly. Eve sputtered slightly.

"Branigan-yer-Nicatore." Eve quickly corrected herself, annoyed by the slight glance over by Caroline.

"Is it Branigan or Nicatore." The man hissed back.

"Nicatore." Eve puffed out. The man looked down at his book before slapping two wrist bands on the counter.

"It's only for two." The man grumbled as he looked back at Ethan.

"Can't I just pay fer another tick-"

"Nope, no more people allowed." The man muttered. "Next!" He bellowed making Caroline slightly jump and snatch a wristband before backing away and to the side.

"Wait, no." Eve snapped as she put her hands on the counter.

"Are you deaf? I said no more people allowed!" The man snapped, standing from his chair and leaning closer to Eve. Eve breathed in a familiar smell of alcohol. Decades had passed, and yet, the feeling of a large, grungy man, smelling of alcohol, made her heart stop. She had killed hundreds of men, and there she stood, fearing a simple human man.

"Give me another wristband." Eve growled lowly as she compelled the man. The man did as he was told and put down a wristband next to the one she had yet to pick up. "Dat wasn't so hard now, was it?" Eve snapped cheerfully with her teeth clenched in a smile as she swiped the wristbands and walked to where Caroline had slunk to.

"What was his problem?" Caroline grumbled quietly before she looked down and saw an extra wristband in Eve's hand. "How did you manage to get another one?" Caroline asked with wide eyes as Ethan came over.

"I'm persuasive." Eve shrugged as she handed the extra wristband to Ethan. Eve raised an eyebrow back at him as he stared at the wristband. "I didn't steal it, don't worry." Eve sassed as she turned her attention back to Caroline. "Alright! Let's get dis tour goin'." Eve smiled as she nudged Caroline towards the doors to where the docks were.

Eve shivered as the three walked out onto the docks. Not many people were on the tour boat, or even getting on the tour boat. Eve felt her hands ball up. 'No more people' her ass. Eve shook off the murderous feeling as a woman came over to the three and began to usher them onto the boat.

"Fuck, it's cold." Caroline mumbled as she pulled her jacket together and zipped it up.

"It's February, what did ya dink would happen?" Eve sassed back as she pulled her own coat together.

"I was thinking that you would shut up." Caroline snarked back as the three got onto the boat. "I'm going to the top. Because I deserve the best view." Caroline said in a snotty voice making Eve snicker before she turned and walked up the steps to the top of the boat.

"The best view is really on the bottom." Ethan said aloud. Eve raised an eyebrow back at him.

"Dought ya said ya haven't been on de tour." Eve sassed.

"Thought you said your last name was Nicatore." Ethan muttered back. Eve paused slightly before rolling her eyes. "Mira Nicatore isn't your real name, is it?" Ethan asked as he began walking towards the stairs to follow Caroline.

"Technically, no." Eve shrugged as she shoved her cooling hands into the pockets of her coat. "Mira is me real middle name." Eve said as she began following Ethan up the stairs.

"And Nicatore?" Ethan asked.

"Me last name plus me friend's last name."

"You said your name was Branigan though." Eve let out an annoyed sigh. It was more towards herself than it was towards Ethan's questions.

"NicBranigan was me full last name. I lost de 'Nic' when I became Mira." Eve shrugged off the lie. Back in the 1800's, it was common for Irish to have a prefix before their last name, but Eve wasn't about to tell Ethan that. That conversation would go into a totally different direction from innocent questions about last names to unexplainable questions without revealing that she was really far older than 22.

Luckily, Ethan stopped asking questions when the two got to the top of the boat. Caroline had immediately regretted her decision to go to the top, with there being almost no coverage for the cold wind. But with Caroline being...Caroline, she refused to go to the deck below. Even when the tour boat started moving. After a while of Caroline simply shivering and listening to the audio tour, she turned her attention to the upcoming island.

"Is that...um...that Elie Island, er whatever?" Caroline asked making Eve look over to the island.

"Ellis." Ethan corrected before Eve could. Caroline rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, whatever." Caroline brushed it off. "We didn't really go over it that much. Wasn't it some...immigration place?" Caroline asked.

"Aye, it was. It was where immigrants came and were processed ta make sure dey were able ta live in America." Eve said aloud suddenly.

Eve had only been six when her family immigrated from Ireland. She had stayed with her mother and brother while her father had taken first class a month prior. Eve remembered asking her father about him not being with the family when they immigrated, and being beaten for asking. Eve later asked Séamus about it, and he said that it was so we would be able to get into America with a letter. Because her father went early, with his first class status, he didn't have to go through Ellis Island, and was simply taken to Manhattan.

"And if it was just a woman and her child, they would have to wait for a letter from someone that lived in America." Ethan said turning Eve and Caroline's attention towards him. "Some of the letters were faked. Especially when the women and children looked as if they had been beaten." Ethan continued. Eve raised an eyebrow back at Ethan.

"Oh." Caroline said aloud, obviously bored by the sudden history lesson. "I'm going to get some water." Caroline continued. "Not that you two are boring me...or anything." Caroline reassured as she turned and walked away from the two. Eve couldn't help but snicker and roll her eyes at how unassured Caroline sounded.

"Ya sure know a lot about Ellis Island fer not takin' de tour." Eve sassed back to Ethan as she looked over at the island once more.

"It's easy remembering history when you were part of it." Ethan had muttered. Eve froze before she looked back up at him and raised an eyebrow.

"What are ya-" Eve chuckled out almost nervously before Ethan interrupted her.

"I'm a vampire." Ethan said calmly, leaning against the railing of the boat. Eve stared at him as she tried to process everything. How was she supposed to act? She was surprised, which she knew she probably looked, but how would a human react? Probably surprised. "Don't be shocked, because I know you're one too." Eve couldn't help the sudden cough that left her.

"How could ya possibly-"

"Humans smell like humans. You don't smell like a human. Your friend does." Ethan said nonchalantly. Eve once again stared at him.

"How do ya know I'm a vampire den and not some other creepy crawly." Eve sassed back at him suddenly. Her only self defense was mockery and sass.

"That stab wound healed pretty quickly Sunday." Ethan muttered back. Shit. "And that man at the desk was not about to give you a free wristband for this tour." Ethan continued.

"Don't tell Caroline." Eve sighed after a few seconds of silence. "She doesn't know."

"I know." Ethan said. "You hid that wound from her. Plus, that first night, after I picked you both up, you were walking out of an alley."

"I didn't do dat ta her." Eve snapped back defensively.

"Kind of figured, with you being stabbed and all." Ethan muttered. "If you had done it, your wound would have healed before you got back in the car." Ethan continued. "Plus, she still kind of smelled...and you didn't." Ethan shrugged. Eve let out a sigh.

"Dat's a long story." Eve grumbled.

"Being an immortal being does that. Turns everything into long stories." Ethan chuckled. Eve let out a puff of a laugh and nodded. "I know that you were wondering why I never went on the tour." Ethan said.

"And how did ya know dat?"

"You aren't very subtle when you're thinking." Ethan sassed back. "It's because I used to work at Ellis Island." Ethan continued. "I just...don't like seeing it. I know a lot of people were passed, but the people who couldn't get through…" Ethan trailed off making Eve nod.

"If I had know, I wouldn't have let ya come." Eve said quietly. "On de bright side, ya may have known me when I was just a wee child." Eve smiled back up at him. Ethan raised an eyebrow before slightly bending down to get to Eve's height. "Imagine more freckles, less makeup, a brother and a mather." Eve said, putting her face in her hands.

"You know that there were over ten million people who were processed, right?" Ethan asked, seriously.

"Den why are ya still bent over and starin' at me face?" Eve sassed back. Ethan's lip twitched into a small smile.

"You won't believe how much this God damn water costs!" Caroline's voice turned both Eve and Ethan's attention towards her. "Because let me tell you!"

Thursday

"You said that you wanted to be on Broadway." Caroline said as she continued curling her hair next to Eve. "What play did you want to be in?" Caroline asked. Eve couldn't help but laugh.

"I actually wanted ta be in de one we're goin' ta." Eve said with a smile as she continued straightening her own hair.

Eve had actual tickets to see the play Wicked. The show didn't start until seven though. So up until around five, Caroline had made Eve continue sightseeing. The difference was that Caroline was too excited to stop and stay anywhere, saying she didn't want to miss the show, even when it was only 12. So, Caroline simply got out at the stops Ethan said would be good places to stop, and took pictures. Eve and Ethan stayed in the car, seeing that Caroline was a little too hyper today. It didn't help that Eve was curious about Ethan. She had been curious about him before, but now that she knew he was a vampire, her curiosity peaked. So, whenever Caroline got out to take pictures, Eve would ask questions about Ethan's past.

"So, you two obviously bonded while I was out taking pictures." Caroline said nonchalantly as she finished a curl.

"Is dat why ya stayed out of de car fer a while?" Eve sassed back. Caroline shrugged, but smirked back.

"Maybe." Caroline said wiggling her eyebrows.

Ethan talked about growing up and how his family really did die in a 'car crash', which was actually a carriage crash. His family really did threaten him for inheriting his parent's home and money, but Ethan ignored the threats and went off to college. When in college, he changed his name and died. Ethan turned back in 1884, which Eve joked and said that her brother had been born that same year, explaining how old she really was in the process. Ethan had turned because of a drunken brawl he had with a vampire. The vampire had felt bad for nearly killing him, so gave him some blood and snapped his neck. Ethan became best friends with the vampire after that. Ethan never mentioned any name, but Eve wasn't about to pry into that.

"Have ya switched sides yet ta de 50 percent of me gettin' laid?" Eve sassed back. Caroline let out a sigh.

"For the time being. I miss Matt, so I'm kind of living through you. So you can have this night out and I can have the detz." Caroline smiled making Eve shoot her back a disgusted look. Caroline simply laughed.

"Yer awful." Eve grumbled back making Caroline shrug.

Eve nearly laughed a second time when Ethan told her that he had actually lied about him having a family dog. He had found a small yorkie in the streets and just kept him. Unfortunately, after years of searching, his family did find him in New York, where they found his home and broke in. Eve was glad she didn't laugh when she saw a truly depressing look from Ethan when he mentioned how his family killed his dog. So in return, for killing his dog, he killed his whole family.

"Either way, you're going on a date with the hunky chauffeur tomorrow, so I'm just hoping that it goes well so that we can have something to talk about on the way back. Good or bad." Caroline continued as she put down her straightener and ran her fingers through her hair.

Between each of his stories, Eve brought up her own. From her boring human life to her transition into becoming a vampire. Unfortunately, every time she got to her own story, Caroline got back into the car. After hours of sightseeing, Caroline wanted to go back to the hotel and get ready, which, Ethan wasn't opposed to. When they finally got back to the hotel, Caroline got out first. When Eve was about to follow, Ethan stopped her.

"It would be a lot easier to talk if she wasn't here." Ethan muttered. Eve couldn't help but laugh.

"Aye, it would have been." Eve said as she began sliding to get out of the car.

"You're here until Sunday, right?" Ethan asked, making Eve pause. "Let's talk more tomorrow night? Maybe around eight?" Ethan asked, tunring Eve's full attention towards him.

"Eight?" Eve asked with a raised eyebrow. "Eight like a date?" Eve continued.

"If you're going to be dense about it-"

"Eight is fine." Eve sassed, interrupting Ethan. "I'm assumin' formal wear?" Eve asked as she continued sliding out of the car. "Eight, look nice." Eve said as she got out of the car, not letting Ethan reply.

"Personally, I'm hopin' fer good." Eve sassed back.

"Oh, so you're hoping for a...happy ending?" Caroline asked, wiggling her eyebrows and nudging Eve. Eve rolled her eyes and unplugged Caroline's curling iron. Caroline let out an a jokingly annoyed scream.

Friday

"Okay, I have de dress on." Eve called from the bathroom.

"Come out!" Caroline called back. Caroline wanted to see Eve before she left and judge her for what she was wearing and what it meant Eve wanted to happen. Eve wasn't going to try and argue with Caroline about anything. Eve left the bathroom and walked into the living room. "Daaaamn girl!" Caroline began to whistle making Eve laugh and turn around. The dress was a short black dress with off the shoulder sleeves. It didn't help that it was tightly wrapped around her body. "For someone who doesn't like off the shoulder dresses, you sure work them." Caroline sassed. "Love the heels." Caroline smiled as she looked down at the lacy black heels. "Easy to kick off, I guess." Caroline teased making Eve roll her eyes.

"So, am I good ta go?" Eve sassed, folding her arms.

"Just be careful with your girls. They look dangerously close to falling out." Caroline warned making Eve laugh.

"Why do ya dink me arms are folded." Eve said, winking at Caroline. Caroline let out a laugh before she pulled out her phone. "What are ya doin'?" Eve asked with a raised eyebrow.

"You know how I'm still on the fence about this whole thing?" Caroline asked. Eve stared back at Caroline. "Okay, listen. You look mega hot, so I just want to document it." Caroline sassed back. "Do some sexy pose." Caroline said, turning her attention back the her phone. Camera flashing noises soon started up. Eve rolled her eyes and put her hand up to cover the camera. "Oh, come on." Caroline whined. "You look super good, and like I said, if this backfires, you can easily send these to Damon." Caroline teased making Eve laugh.

"I'm leaving now!" Eve snapped playfully as she grabbed her red coat from the couch and walked over to the elevator and pressed the button.

"Eve!" Caroline called, making Eve turn around. The sound of the camera went off, making Eve blink. "Gotcha." Caroline smirked back. "Okay, bye!" Caroline waved before turning around and going towards the bathroom. Eve couldn't help but chuckle as the elevator door opened.

As Eve walked out of the elevator's doors into the lobby, she could feel people staring at her. Even with her red coat on, people were looking. Eve looked at her reflection in the window. With it being closed, it looked like that the coat was all she was wearing. Eve quickly undid the coat to prove to onlookers that she wasn't in fact, flashing people, but actually had something underneath the coat.

"Hi." Ethan said behind Eve. Eve whipped around. "People are whispering that you look like a high end flasher." Ethan said. Eve rolled her eyes.

"I know. It's de coat." Eve grumbled. "Does it look any better?" Eve asked as she nudged the coat further out of the way from the view of her dress.

"Now you just kind of look like a stripper." Ethan shrugged. Eve scoffed before Ethan nodded for her to follow. "Come on." Ethan said as he began walking towards the doors. Eve quickly caught up to him. "Careful, people may see more than you want if you move too quickly."

"Ya know, I can easily go change." Eve grumbled. Ethan paused and raised an eyebrow at her.

"I was talking about the whole vampire thing." Ethan said nonchalantly. Eve stared at him before laughing. "Okay, come on." Ethan nodded as he left the building with Eve following. Ethan held the door open to the car. Eve wanted to roll her eyes as she got into the passengers side.

"Why does no one sit up front?" Eve asked as Ethan got into the other side. "It's far nicer up here den back dere." Eve sassed, nodding towards the backseat.

"I don't like people in the front seat." Ethan shrugged as he started the car.

"Oh, so I'm an exception?" Eve teased back which Ethan nodded.

"Well, you're not technically 'people'." Ethan sassed back. Eve chuckled. "We're going to go to my house. I've made dinner." Ethan said casually as he started the car and began driving. Eve pulled her seatbelt on.

"Dat sounds nice, put yer seatbelt on." Eve said as she placed her purse on her lap. Silence filled the car. Eve looked back over at Ethan as he was looking at her confused.

"You do know that we can't die easily, yes?" Ethan asked as he continued driving. Eve shrugged.

"Aye, but in de event of a crash-"

"I'm a chauffeur. They tell you all of that crap early on." Ethan muttered. Eve let out a puff.

"Would ya just put on yer seatbelt?" Eve huffed. Once again, silence. "Please?" Eve asked in a slightly nicer tone. Still nothing. "Yer family died in a carriage accident, why won't ya just put on yer own damn seatbelt?" Eve snapped suddenly.

"It's not like seatbelts were invented yet." Ethan shrugged. Eve let out a sigh and turned her attention to the window. It wasn't a big deal…

"So, is Eve your full name?" Ethan asked, turning Eve's attention from the strange vegetarian food in front of her.

"Hmm? Oh! Me full name is Evelyn." Eve said as she finally took a bite of the vegetarian sausage.

"Truly? Was it really pronounced like that? Even in the 1900's?" Ethan asked as he ate his food as if he was in the fanciest restaurant.

"Ah, it was really Eibhlín." Eve said through her bite of food. Eve could understand vampires being vegetarian when it came to blood, but to food, it was different. Ethan stood up and walked into his kitchen. Eve quickly spit the bite out. Vegetarianism was not for her. Steak was too good.

"Eibhlín is a nice pronunciation." Ethan said as he walked back to the table with a bottle of wine. "My real name isn't Ethan." Ethan said casually as he put the corkscrew in the cork of the wine. "It was originally 'Earl', but I wasn't a fan of that name. So when I became a vampire, I changed it." Ethan said as he popped the cork off. "Do you like champagne? This is a 2003 Moet Chandon Dom Perignon." Ethan said, the words rolling off his tongue as if he had been saying them for years.

"I'm more of a whiskey kind of gal." Eve shrugged. "But champagne is nice." Eve smiled back as she slightly lifted her glass. Maybe the champagne would make the 'not-sausage' taste better.

"Whiskey? What kind?" Ethan asked as she took the glass from Eve's hand and poured the wine into it. "I hope you don't say bourbon." Ethan grumbled. Eve raised an eyebrow back at him. "Bourbon tastes like dirt to me." Ethan continued.

"I like jameson, personally." Eve shrugged. Ethan chuckled as he handed her the glass back to her.

"Sticking close to home?" Ethan asked as he went and sat across from her once more. "Jameson has a very unique tastes."

"Ya know when ya talked about yer past, ya never mentioned ya were an alcohol fan." Eve said taking a sip of the champagne. Much to her dismay, it felt like water.

"Yeah, around the time my friend died, I started heavily drinking. I don't know what happened, but I began to notice the tastes and smells and I think I just wanted an excuse to drink and not look like an alcoholic." Ethan shrugged as he sipped on his champagne. "It became a hobby. Especially being able to taste the age differences." Ethan said, slightly swirling his glass.

"I...I just like ta get drunk from time ta time." Eve sputtered out. "Bourbon makes me murderous, jameson makes me flirty. I took the later." Eve snickered out. "Plus, with jameson bein' so high in alcohol, it takes less time ta get drunk." Eve nodded with a smile, seeing Ethan simply staring. "Ethan, let me be honest with ya, I didn't come here fer de food or de drink." Eve said suddenly.

"I kind of figured with what you were wearing." Ethan muttered. Suddenly, he was back to his mopey self. "I'm kind of a mean person when I have sex though, so I thought I would make the first part a little less hurtful." Eve couldn't help but laugh. That was until Ethan grabbed onto one side of the table and flipped it to the side. Eve felt her heart jump to her throat as Ethan walked over to her quickly.

Ethan grabbed and pulled Eve up before he grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her into a kiss. A strange feeling coiled around Eve, but she ignored it as she kissed him back. The taste of the vegetarian sausages was probably what was getting to her. Eve could feel herself being picked up and moved. Ethan pulled away and pushed Eve back. Eve fell back against a bed, her heart beginning to beat in her ears.

Why does it feel like this?

"I think you're annoying." Ethan snapped as he was suddenly on top of her, kissing her neck. "The most interesting part about you is that you're a vampire." Ethan muttered into Eve's neck. Was this what he meant by when he said he was mean? Eve was thinking more whips. "The only thing we have in common is that we are both attracted to each other and also vampires." Ethan continued as he began kissing down Eve's body. The coil inside of her began to twist. Eve let out an annoyed groan as she grabbed onto Ethan's face and kissed him. "Your alcohol taste buds are shit and you're not a vegetarian from how you picked at the food." Ethan murmured between kisses.

Why does it feel like this?

"Your friend is obnoxious." Ethan continued to murmur. Eve felt Ethan's hands begin to wander down the side of her body. It didn't feel like a spark of any kind. "You not telling her you're a vampire is a bad idea." Ethan said as Eve could feel his lower body against hers. "Your friend Dalon sounds like an ass." Ethan said as he began kissing down her body, holding onto her sleeve, ready to pull them down.

"Damon." Eve corrected suddenly.

"I've already said you're annoying…" Ethan grumbled. Eve froze as the word finally ran through her brain...multiple times. Damon, Damon, Damon, Damon, Damon, Damon. Damon always put his seatbelt on when she asked him to...he even did it when she didn't ask him to. It was a big deal. It is a big deal.

"You're bossy. What's the point of seatbelts when you're immortal." Ethan asked as Eve realized that she had just been staring up at the ceiling. "With you being five nothing, it's a pain to actually touch you."

"So stop." Eve said aloud suddenly as she sat up, making Ethan sit up too.

"I told you that this was going to happen. What's the problem?" Ethan asked, slightly annoyed.

"I can't do this." Eve breathed out. "Caroline was right." Eve said as she moved out from under Ethan. Ethan raised an eyebrow at her in confusion. "I'm in love with me best friend." Eve said aloud. Now both of Ethan's eyebrows raised.

"Didn't see you being into girls." Ethan muttered. Eve stared back at him and rolled her eyes. "Need a ride back?" Ethan asked. Eve couldn't help the sudden laugh that erupted.

"Aye, if ya could." Eve said through her laughter. Eve walked back out into Ethan's kitchen with Ethan behind her. Eve grabbed her phone and quickly called Caroline.

"Damn, not even going to wait?" Ethan asked as he pulled on a coat. Eve covered her mouth as she began to feel herself shake.

"Caroline, ya were right."

Saturday

"Hello?" Eve muttered as she quickly answered the phone, ignoring the sudden heat that rose to her cheeks.

"Are you busy?" Damon's voice asked back. Eve began to cough. "Dying, is what it sounds like." Damon sassed as Eve felt her heart begin to race. "Didn't interrupt anything, did I?" Damon asked.

"No, I was- I was puttin' on a dress." Eve coughed out before taking in a breath.

"Going out?" Damon asked.

"No, I'm just goin' ta stay in, watch some movies." Eve sassed. Damon laughed.

"Wouldn't surprise me." Damon sassed back. "Elena, chill, I'm on the phone." Damon said pulling the phone away. "Stefan is good to go. No more blood withdrawal. He should have it completely out of his system."

"Oh, good. We were plannin' ta come back tomorrow morning...so I wouldn't have ta drive at night." Eve shrugged back. "Elena's still there?" Eve asked, annoyed at how she felt when she asked.

"Yeah. She's been here since Sunday. You know, besides going to school." Damon said. "She's driving me nuts." Damon grumbled making Eve snicker. "But, I won't keep you long. Just wanted to call and tell you to get your ass back here. Because I miss you." Damon said in a pouty voice making Eve smile. "And also, Stefan's better." Damon muttered back.

"Tomorrow morning." Eve replied.

"Maybe make it six hours instead of five, yeah?" Damon sassed. Eve rolled her eyes. "And don't roll your eyes at me. I would rather you come back in one piece than two." Damon snarked. "And make sure Caroline's okay." Damon continued in a mocking tone.

"Maybe. I got here in one piece makin' it only five." Eve sassed back. Damon snickered back. "But I have ta go. Movies ta watch and all." Eve snickered.

"Of course." Damon chuckled back. Eve paused for a second. "Hey Evie?"

"Hmm?"

"Seriously, come back. I miss you. Elena is annoying." Eve let out a little chuckle as she heard something hitting his phone to the ground. "That's not very nice! You know, I can just smother you with this same pillow in your sleep, right?" Damon's voice was muffled. Eve let out a sigh as she hung up. Eve let herself fall back onto the couch.

She wasn't jealous. She couldn't be. Because jealousy meant actual feelings. More than friend feelings. That was why she ignored it all through the years. Maybe she needed a break from Mystic Falls. Sure, Mystic Falls was her home, and she clearly loved it, but love was something she didn't want to feel. Especially towards Mystic Falls.
