"I can't believe that you're making us get a taxi." Caroline grumbled as Eve tried to flag down a taxi. "I mean, Ethan thinks your in love with me, so why should it matter if he takes us to a nice restaurant?" Caroline asked as Eve raised an eyebrow back at her. "Okay, saying it out loud does seem kind of shitty." Caroline muttered as a taxi slowed down and came to the sidewalk.

Eve opened the door and scooted herself into the back of the taxi with Caroline beside her. The taxi driver raised an eyebrow at them in his rearview mirror.

"So, where can I take you two lovely ladies?" The taxi man asked as Eve put her seatbelt on.

"Del Frisco's Double Steakhouse." Eve said. The man nodded and began driving. Caroline suddenly snapped on her seatbelt. Eve couldn't help but snicker.

"Any special event you're celebrating?" The man asked.

"Just our last night in New York before my friend over here confesses to the love of her life." Caroline said with a smile, making Eve smack her arm. The man simply chuckled before silence filled the taxi.

"Ya want ta hear how much dis place costs?" Eve asked aloud looking over at Caroline.

"Not really." Caroline smiled back. "Because I know you're a lunatic anyway so it's probably like a billion dollars." Caroline sassed.

"It's not a billion dollars." Eve sassed back. Caroline scoffed. "It's not!"

"It is a bit expensive." The taxi driver said. "From what I've heard. There's a reason I drive a taxi." Eve glared up at the man while Caroline began to snicker. "I'm just being honest." The man shrugged.

"Let me guess, is there caviar?" Caroline asked more towards the driver than to Eve. The driver hesitated before he nodded. "Oh my God Eve!"

"Listen, I have ta have one last hurrah before I throw me life away fer a man." Eve sassed back making Caroline laugh now. "Ya know as much as we joke about dis, dis is a serious matter." Eve said seriously towards the driver. "How am I supposed ta tell her dat I'm madly deeply in love with her when all she does is joke about it?" Eve asked, nodding towards Caroline making Caroline scoff out a laugh and smack Eve's arm. The taxi man simply chuckled.

"If we're being serious, you could talk about conspiracy theories and I would most likely not even realize." The man snickered. "I have to focus mostly on driving because if you haven't noticed yet, New York is a helluva place to drive."

"We haven't because we haven't ever driven here." Caroline chirped in. "Or, at least, I haven't. My life is far less exciting compared to hers." Caroline sassed, nodding towards Eve.

"She's not wrong." Eve shrugged back making Caroline scoff. "Her life is so borin', I have ta do everything fer her." Eve sassed as Caroline stuck her tongue back out at her. The taxi man simply chuckled.

"Well, we are here." The man said after a brief silence.

"Ooh good." Caroline said with a smile as she opened the taxi door. "I assume you got this." Caroline asked, glancing back at Eve. Eve raised an eyebrow and smiled. "Cool." Caroline smiled back.

"How much is it?" Eve asked as she opened her purse. Eve jumped when a hand grabbed onto her wrist. Eve's attention snapped up to meet light green eyes.

"Sofya did sah tha this is mah citah. Why didjah eveh stah?" The Scottish accent filled the taxi as all the air left Eve. Alistair. "Jyah poot jyarself intwo this situation. Noaw Caroline is goin' to pah." Alistair hissed. "Joust jyah wai-"

"Eve!" Eve was on her feet quickly as she look wildly around. Caroline had her hands raised up in defense. "Jesus, are you okay?" Caroline let out a small, worried snicker. Eve let out a shaky breath as she let herself relax.

"Aye, I'm okay." Eve muttered as Caroline's eyebrows furrowed together in concern.

"I didn't mean to take so long, but Matt called must have been really tired though." Caroline smiled, but Eve could still see the concern on her face. "On the plus side, you still look cute." Caroline chirped as she turned around and walked over to the table. "I still can't believe you're making us flag down a taxi. Like poor people." Caroline said with a mocked snotty tone and expression. Eve let out a small chuckle.

"I'm just goin' ta call and have one pick us up." Eve said as she patted herself down to try and find her phone. Caroline raised an eyebrow at the action before Eve turned around and looked at the couch. It was slightly squashed between the cushions. Eve quickly grabbed it and looked up a number for a taxi company. Luckily, there was a special instructions box. Eve was thankful she didn't actually have to call. What was she supposed to tell Caroline? Eve wrote: No red headed Scottish men.

Eve let out a sigh as she finished her glass of some type of champagne. Caroline had insisted that they get champagne. Eve scolded her at first for underage drinking, but Caroline rolled her eyes. Eve finally broke and let her order. Caroline was lucky Eve was a vampire though. Otherwise, the waiter would have never brought them the champagne. Strangely enough, the high end stakehouse was against underage drinking as well and were very thorough of making sure that both parties were of age. Eve simply showed her own ID twice and compelled the man the second time to accept the ID to be Caroline's.

Caroline did mention that Eve was very persuasive, which Eve joked that she had a compelling personality. Caroline chuckled, but she had no idea. It almost made Eve sad that Caroline didn't know about vampires. But then she remembered how Caroline reacted to Eve after she found out about it. She flinched… True, it hadn't been the best of circumstances, but Eve didn't want to have Caroline go through that again.

"Hey, space cadet." Eve blinked as she looked at Caroline. "What are you thinking so hard about? This is the time to relax." Caroline sassed as she took her last sip of champagne.

"I am relaxed." Eve sassed back, making Caroline raise an eyebrow and fold her arms. Eve rolled her own eyes at the action as she held out her hand. "Look! Look how relaxed I am." Eve said as she began to shake her hand sporadically. Caroline let out a laugh as she smacked Eve's hand down.

"We are in a nice restaurant." Caroline scolded. Eve mocked her back. The two let out a laugh together. A buzzing caught Eve's attention behind Caroline. Caroline turned back and opened up her purse. "Oooh, it's lover boy!" Caroline smiled as she pulled out Eve's phone. "Here, how about I answer it and tell him about all your feelings?" Caroline smiled deviously. Eve could not get up quick enough. "Hi Damon! How are you!?" Caroline smiled as she answered the phone.

"Do you two never leave each others sides?" Eve heard Damon reply. Eve tried to grab her phone, but Caroline leaned away and switched hands to get the phone further from Eve's grasp.

"Never. We've been sleeping in the same bed too." Caroline purred out before giggling. Eve let out an annoyed groan before she quickly grabbed the phone from Caroline.

"Hopefully that keeps going on until you get to Mystic Falls. We could all be in the same bed." Eve heard Damon purr back as she finally put the phone to her own ear.

"Caroline has a boyfriend and is very faithful." Eve sassed back as Caroline continued to giggle.

"With boys, but what about girls." Damon asked making Eve roll her eyes. "I thought you two were going out? Or are you really just all dolled up and watching movies?" Damon asked as Eve began walking away from the table. Caroline kept wiggling her eyebrows as Eve left. Eve couldn't help but snicker and roll her eyes.

"No, we really went out. We are out, actually." Eve sassed as she walked away from the dining area. There were other people there and all seemed to be staring holes at Eve as she walked around each table. "Del Frisco's Steakhouse. Dey serve caviar here." Eve said as she finally got to a hallway that lead to both the kitchen and the restroom. "What's up?"

"Can't a guy call a girl and not need anything?" Damon sassed. Eve rolled her eyes.

"Not when dat guy is Damon Salvatore." Eve sassed back. Damon chuckled, but it wasn't his usual full chuckle. "It's been dree hours, Day. What happened?" Eve asked as she stepped back out of a waiters way.

"You'd be surprised." Damon muttered. A short silence filled the air. "Well, Stefan tried to kill himself." Damon finally said, breaking the silence.

"He WHAT?" Eve snapped suddenly, quickly aware of his volume as a waitress walked by and jumped. "What happened?!" Eve asked, cupping her hand to her phone to try and divert her volume from everyone else.

"He's a guilty mess." Damon shrugged. Eve let out an annoyed sigh. "You know, without his human blood addiction, he's a gentle soul with so much guilt from decades ago." Damon grumbled back. "He went on a whole little guilt trip and tried to kill himself at the quarry where he turned me." Damon continued.

"Christ, I can't leave ya two alone fer a week." Eve grumbled more to herself than to Damon. "And ya have given him brotherly love, I hope." Eve asked. Damon let out a small chuckle.

"Well, I gave him my kind of brotherly love."

"Did ya call him stupid?" Eve grumbled.

"I said I hated him." Damon replied.

"Damon!" Eve scolded.

"What! I did!" Damon sassed back with a laugh. "I mean, if it helps, I told him I didn't hate him for turning me." Damon said back.

"But?" Eve asked, knowing he had said more.

"It's not his fault, Evie." Damon said back a little quieter. "It's not his fault that he was hyped up on human blood." Damon continued. "You know, this roller coaster that I seem to be stuck on is a hell of a ride." Damon grumbled making Eve snicker. "It's not his fault that I am the way I am. It's her fault." Damon said. Eve couldn't help her eyebrows raising. "I was just sooo in love with her, Evie." Damon muttered. "And once he turned, he didn't care that she was dead...Well, obviously not dead, but you know what I mean." Damon huffed. "I've always known it wasn't all his fault. But it was easier hating something that I could physically hate…"

"Dat's big of ya dough, Day." Eve said gently. "Does dat mean yer finally over dat witch of a vampire?" Eve asked, almost forgetting that she was in a public area. Damon gave back a chuckle.

"Probably. Who knows. I'm me, after all." Damon sassed back making Eve snicker. "So, how has your week been? I've spent most of mine complaining."

"So, a normal week fer ya?" Eve sassed back making Damon scoff.

"I'll have you know," Damon said back in a mocked bratty voice making Eve laugh. "Wait, you said you were out, right?" Damon asked.

"Aye." Eve replied.

"You know, you'll be home tomorrow. Why not just tell me all about it them." Damon said.

"Take care of yer brother." Eve scolded back. "Just 'cause ya hate him, doesn't mean ya can't love him." Eve sassed. Damon chuckled back.

"Sound logic." Damon chuckled. "Stay safe. Like I said, you have to come back in one piece." Damon sassed.

"We'll see." Eve smiled.

"Yeah, see you alive and well tomorrow." Damon said back in a pointed tone making Eve laugh. "Nigh Evie."

"Goodnight, Day." Eve smiled back, pulling back her phone to hang up. The whole week, she had gotten used to Ethan's phone calls ending abruptly, so when she saw the numbers of how long she had been talking continued to count up, she was surprised. Eve felt her heart slightly flutter as she finally hit the 'end call' button. Eve shook off the feeling as she walked back to where Caroline was still sitting. "Hi."

"You have a secret admirer." Caroline said with a smile. Eve raised her eyebrow.

"Aye?" Eve asked before her expression dropped from confused to annoyed. "Is it Damon?" Eve grumbled back as she sat down in her chair.

"Psh, that one's no secret." Caroline sassed. "Some guy came over and started talking with me about you." Caroline chuckled. Eve's brows furrowed together. "It was weird. Like he already knew you." Eve felt the sudden knot that was forming in her stomach.

"Di-did he happen ta tell ya his name?" Eve asked hesitantly, as she glanced around the dining area. Caroline paused for a second before shaking her head.

"Well...no. But he said that you would know him." Caroline shrugged. "He said he paid the bill already too." Eve felt the hair on the back of her neck begin to stand. "I mean, it was a little weird, but whatever." Caroline said as she stood up. "Are you ready to go?" She asked as she pulled her coat from the back of her chair.

"Aye...but Caroline...ya said he didn't say his name...but...what did he look like?" Eve asked as she stood up and quickly pulled her own coat on.

"I don't know, he was kind of tall, muscular build-"

"Hair color, Caroline, eye color, anythin' noticable about him." Eve asked quickly as Caroline grabbed onto her purse and walked over to Eve's side. Eve glanced at Caroline's neck. Thankfully, Caroline still had her necklace on. She wouldn't take it off for anyone, especially someone random person…

"Jeez Eve, I thought you were finally coming to terms with that fact that you were in love with Damon." Caroline sassed as she looped arms with Eve. Eve let out an annoyed sigh as she continued scanning the restaurant.

"Care, it's important. What did he look like?" Eve asked. Caroline raised an eyebrow at her.

"Okay, okay." Caroline muttered as the two began walking to leave the restaurant. "Um...he had green eyes…" Eve felt herself begin to walk faster with Caroline on her arm. "Maybe mid 30's…" Caroline shrugged as they began walking up the stairs to the outside. "Red hair…" Eve felt her heart begin to beat rapidly. "Ooh! He had this really thick accent." Eve needed to get Caroline out of New York. "It wasn't Irish, because it didn't sound like yours, but it sounded kind of similar." Eve could feel herself begin rushing Caroline up the stairs and out into the street. "Hey, are you okay?" Caroline asked as the two finally got to the top of the stairs and into the chilly New York air. "You look super pale."

"Did he say anythin' else ta ya?" Eve asked as she began scanning the streets. Caroline raised her eyebrow back at her in concern.

"I mean, he just kind of said that you two would be seeing each other soon." Caroline shrugged. Eve nodded curtly as she began to try and run down a taxi. He wasn't going to be seeing her soon...or ever, if she was lucky.

"Ya didn't tell him where ya were from, did ya?" Eve asked as a taxi finally began slowing down next to the sidewalk where she had been waving.

"No, that would be weird. He did ask though." Caroline said. Good. They had to leave tonight.

He wasn't about to be back in her life.

Hey everyone! Nebula here! Obviously, since I'm the one who wrote this and is typing this now. This chapter was really short and I'm sorry about that. And I'm sorry it took so long to be put out. And I'm going to be extra sorry for what I have to say…

I'm going on a hiatus.

Gottcha, you thought I was ending the story. NOPE. We still got to get to the part where Damon and Eve...well, I still want you to be surprised, so I'm not going to spoil it. Wink!

If you care to know, read ahead, otherwise, skip this next paragraph and look at when I will be back!

I'm going through a bit of a rough patch in my life. I have to go on one of those 'spiritual journeys' and 'find myself'. I'm on a break with my long term boyfriend of over 5 years and my heart is hurt. We've been drifting apart and I only just noticed it this month...and it sucks because I wanted to marry him...It's just hard and I'm having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that I may need to be alone to find myself. Another reason for the hiatus is that I have to move out of our house and back into my parents house...and I'm working constantly with no free time and my mental health is taking a spiral. So…I'm just going to take a break from it all. I'm going to go visit my sister in Nashville and just be...me.

Not the Queen will return April 1st.
I know most people reading will probably forget about this story, but trust me, I won't. Because I need this story out there. Damon deserves to be loved by a strong woman who loves him back without loving his brother. And I will give him that. But first, I need to give myself some love.

Just don't forget that I love you. And I WILL be back.
