"Alright. Just so I'm all caught up," Eve began as she ran her hand through Damon's hair as she lay her head in her lap. "Ya and Laric are best friends and now have yer own little Batman, Robin ding goin' on." Eve stated, earning her a scoff. Eve glanced down at Damon who kept his eyes closed.

"Only if I'm Batman." Damon muttered up to her making Eve snicker.

"Oh no, not with dat comment, Robin." Eve sassed down at him. Damon opened one of his eyes to look at her and scowl. Eve smiled back down at him, patting his head and shushing him as he began to protest. "So, de Dynamic Duo-" Damon snorted at her pronunciation of 'duo' making Eve smush his face with her free hand. "Went off and searched fer Isobel, which is Laric's wife who ya slept with and turned." Eve continued making Damon cringe making her quickly get off the subject. "Laric had a whole life crisis cause he's been searchin' fer her fer two years and knowin' she was alive and blah blah blah." Eve muttered. "Ya bond over searchin' fer a woman who didn't want ya, and also found out dat de tomb vampires are still runnin' around and pissed." Eve continued, rushing over her words to throw in a gentle jab at Damon for being stupid. "Really, a walk down memory lane!" Eve chirped making Damon groan. "Glad I wasn't around fer all dat. Especially with Stefan gettin' all sad and flashbacky." Eve shuddered gently as she remembered showing up in Stefan's flashbacks.

"Didn't like seeing human me, huh?" Damon snarked making Eve snicker and look back down at him. "Too human for you, my queen?" Damon asked, fluttering his eyelashes at her. Eve rolled her eyes and smiled.

"Too sad fer me, little vampire." Eve corrected gently, feeling her heart in her chest as she ran her hand through his hair once more, noticing the way he leaned into her hand. Damon took Eve's free hand and pushed her palm against his lips. Eve felt her heart begin to pound in her ears as she felt the all too familiar blush that began to spread across her cheeks. "A-and d-den," Eve sputtered, her brain trying to defuse the intimate moment trying to ignore the smirk she felt against her hand as Damon continued to hold it against his mouth. "Stefan got extra sad and tried ta kill himself." Eve continued feeling his smirk slowly die at her words. "Den ya were a shit brother and said ya hated him." Eve chastised, curling her hand around Damon's mouth and shaking his head.

"Hey, to be fair," Damon mumbled against her hand, letting it go and letting Eve pull it back. "I did tell him I didn't hate him for making me turn." Damon corrected, shaking his finger back at her. Eve rolled her eyes.

"Ya and why did ya hate him den?" Eve sassed back at him, already knowing the answer and feeling herself get a little mad over it. Damon let out a long sigh before sitting up and leaning closer to her.

"Human Damon would have been infatuated with you, Evie." Damon stated quietly, his nose nearly touching Eve's. Eve froze at how close he had gotten. It was one thing to be lying in her lap and a totally different thing to be nose to nose. Eve let out a nervous scoff.

"Just human Damon?" Eve asked. Her heart hammered in her ears. The words spilled off her tongue so easily she nearly threw up from the sudden flip her stomach did as what she said actually processed in her brain. Damon looked taken aback by the question. He blinked a few times, searching her face but Eve could almost feel herself blacking out from embarrassment. Her eyes flickered away from his quickly, trying to avoid his hard gaze.

"I suppose human Stefan would also be infatuated, but to be fair, vampire Stefan would be more interested as he didn't have Katherine compelling him to be in love with her." Damon shrugged, a bitterness in his voice. Eve let out a breathy chuckle at his answer, thankful that he hadn't processed the question the same way she had. "Vampire Damon though-" Damon began, making Eve's heart jumpstart as she looked back up him. His blue eyes easily entrapped her.

Eve jumped as she heard the sound Damon's ringtone, just on the edge of the couch. Eve pushed herself further back into the couch as much as she could. If she had listened carefully, she could have sworn she heard Damon let out a curt sigh. She could have also seen him roll his eyes at the interruption but she was far too busy trying to calm her beating heart. Damon reached over and grabbed his phone, looking at the screen for a moment before answering the call.

"Riiic." Damon answered, the snarky tone sounding almost forced. "What can I do for you, buddy." Damon emphasised the word and looked back over at Eve and winked. Eve let out a snicker. Eve took the time to look at her own phone and to cool her burning ears.

Caroline: Soooo ovr bonnie & elena

Caroline: Lyke just b frends? Y is it so hrd 4 thm?

Caroline: U shud cme & help w/ the floatz l8r! C u there BBY!

Eve was pulled from her phone from a tap from Damon. Eve cocked her head back up at him.

"Come on, we're going back to school!" Damon said with fake enthusiasm. Eve let out an exaggerated and annoyed sigh.

"I already graduated from both high school and college!" Eve whined, letting herself slide down the couch dramatically

"Join the club." Damon sassed reaching his hand down to her to grab as she was now slumped on the ground. Eve let out a puff of air and grabbed onto his hand, pulling herself up. "But hey, since we're going back to school, I wouldn't mind having you wear some little school girl ou-" Eve quickly shoved Damon back onto the couch. Eve let a yelp as Damon didn't let go over her hand and pulled her back onto the couch with him.

"Damon!" Eve hissed as she was pulled into his lap. Eve straddled him as Damon only let out a chuckle as he wrapped his arms around her.

"You don't get to yell at me. You've been gone for over a week." Damon whined back, nuzzling into Eve's neck. Eve let out a squeak from the feeling.

"How did you even survive without me fer 13 years?" Eve muttered, grabbing hold of Damon's face and pulling him away from her neck. Damon smiled up at her making her heart race

"Reliving memories of that one night in '85." Damon sassed making Eve let out an embarrassing shriek as she pulled his face dangerously close to hers without realizing.

"We don't talk about dat!" Eve snapped as her nose touched Damon's, ignoring the close proximity as she was only focused on the heat she knew was radiating off her face.

"To be fair, you were one of the only ones who wasn't completely naked." Damon muttered, his eyes flickered downwards for a moment.

"Damon." Eve warned, feeling her heart race against her chest. Even knowing that Damon saw her in just a bra and thong made her want to keel over.

"Evie." Damon sassed back, his voice sounding lower than it usually was as she could nearly feel the brush of his lips against her. Eve swallowed back a breath as she looked into his blue eyes that were almost completely black from his pupil.

"Ya weren't like dis when I first showed up." Eve sassed pulling herself away from him. She needed to create some distance if she was going to be able to breath. Damon rolled his eyes back at her and shrugged, making Eve fully away that his hands were resting on her hips. "Ya were too drunk from missin' a woman." Eve stated, her heart clenching at her words and the sad look that crossed Damon's face. Eve let out a small chuckle as she pushed off of him and got off the couch, now reaching down to pull him up.

"Someone's gotta pull me out of the gutter, Evie." Damon sassed as he took her hand. Eve felt another wave of sadness wash over her as she let out a small sigh. She didn't sleep with a man in New York because of him. Being a vampire was a hell of a ride when it came to emotions.

"Well, let's get ta de school den." Eve stated, nodding towards the door. Damon looked at her for a moment longer, searching for something that Eve refused to show him.

"No outfit?" Damon asked, a soft smirk lighting up his face. Eve let out a small chuckle.

"No outfit." Eve reassured.

Damon walked slightly in front of Eve down the hallway of the school. Something had happened in New York with Eve and she wasn't talking about it. Something had happened at the Boarding house and Eve wasn't talking about that either. The whole car ride felt...strange. Her mood had soured but she was trying so hard for him. It would have warmed his heart if he was also in a bad mood, but he had been in a relatively good one now that Eve was back. He had been in a relatively okay mood when she was gone, but that was because of a certain look-a-like. Damon walked up and opened a door with M on it. Stefan was leaning against the front desk and Elena was in one of the students desks. Alaric had his arms crossed, turned to the door when it opened.

"Damon, thanks for coming." Alaric said before he glanced behind him and saw Eve. "And Eve." Alaric said quickly as she came in behind him and wiggled her fingers at him. Damon felt his heart flutter at the familiar action. An action he had picked up from her throughout the years. His were far less innocent as hers.

"Sorry we're late." Damon stated aloud, bringing everyone's attention back to him. "My dog ate my uh...never mind." Damon trailed off from his snarky joke. The comment only made one person gently snort. He couldn't help the pride that swam through him as he smirked back at Eve before looking back at everyone else. "What's with all the furrowed brows?" Damon asked, despite Eve's small chuckle, he knew that this little meeting was serious.

"I saw Isobel last night." Alaric stated. Damon looked back at Alaric, now his own brows furrowed.

"Isobel is here?" Damon asked with Alaric nodding. "In town?" Damon glanced back at Elena. Her gaze met his briefly, but he knew she wasn't thrilled. She looked scared. "Did you ask her about Uncle John?" Damon asked, turning his attention back to Alaric. "Are they working together?" Damon glanced over at Eve who was watching everything pan out.

"No." Alaric stated. Damon stared back at Alaric at his one word reply.

"No they're not?" Damon asked

"No, I didn't ask." Alaric clarified.

"What about the invention?" Damon questioned.

"Didn't ask." Alaric stated.

"Did she know about the tomb vampires?" Damon continued, feeling his frustration building at Alaric's lack of knowledge.

"I don't know." Damon walked closer to him.

"Did words completely escape you?" Damon snapped, standing in front of Alaric.

"Damon." Eve warned behind him. Damon glanced back at her before looking back at Alaric as he began to glare.

"No, I was a little too distracted by my dead vampire wife to ask any questions." Alaric snapped, folding his arms. Damon couldn't help but take a step back and roll his eyes.

"What did she want?" Damon asked, folding his arms.

"She wants to see me, Damon." Damon looked back at Elena. Damon furrowed his eyes back at her.

"Alaric is supposed to arrange a meeting." Stefan stated, but Damon kept his attention on Elena. "We don't know why or what she wants." Stefan said gently. He sounded like a kicked puppy so he could only imagine that was what he looked like.

"You don't have to see her if you don't want to." Damon said, keeping his eyes locked with Elena. Elena shrugged back.

"I don't really have a choice." The defeat in her voice made his heart hurt. Damon knew why Stefan and her got along so well. They both had this uncanny ability to look like sad puppies.

"She's threatened to go on killing spree." Alaric chimed in. Damon saw the opportunity.

"Oh! I take it that's not okay with you guys." Damon stated with a smirk, glancing around the room at everyone's serious expressions. Eve gave him a scolding look, despite the smallest of smiles. His heart warmed despite the cold looks everyone else gave him.

"I want to do it." Elena stated, bring his attention back towards the girl. "I want to meet her. If I don't, I know I'll regret it." Elena stated, confidence in her voice. Damon watched Elena, trying to find a hint of doubt. He wanted to ask her more questions, just to make sure she was sure, but he knew that everyone, including himself, would get curious about why he was so concerned.

"I'm coming with you." Stefan stated quickly after a moment. "Wherever you meet, whenever, I'll be close." Stefan said, standing up and walking over to her. Elena looked up at him and smiled, grabbing hold of his hand. Damon rolled his eyes.

"I don't think that's a good idea." Alaric said, pulling Damon's attention from the sickly sweet moment between Stefan and Elena. "Isobel made it clear that she wants to see Elena alone." Alaric stated, looking weary of the idea.

"Well, what about just bein' close by?" Eve interjected, pulling everyone's attention down to her. Damon couldn't help but smirk as he saw the ever familiar blush begin to spread across her face at the sudden attention. "Ya know. If ya can pick de place, why not de Grill?" Eve suggested towards Alaric. "Stefan could be in de Grill and Alaric and Damon somewhere farther away." Eve said a little quieter, looking over at Elena. Damon looked back over at Stefan and Elena. Elena looked back up at Stefan before looking over at Alaric.

"Having Stefan close by could be a secret." Elena said hopefully. "She's going to expect you to be close by anyway." Elena continued, looking over at Alaric.

"If that's the case, then why not have Eve go with you?" Alaric shrugged, glancing over at Eve. Eve looked back up at him and raised an eyebrow. "I don't know how much Isobel knows about you, or if she does at all, but it's probably a better shot than having Stefan." Alaric said, looking back over at Stefan.

"Why not both?" Elena asked quickly. "If she finds out about Stefan, she can kick him out...but I'll still have someone there." Elena said, glancing over at Eve before looking back up at Stefan. Stefan looked hesitantly back over at Eve. Damon almost caught her rolling her eyes at the whole situation.

"Ya know, it would make everyone's life easier if we just killed her." Eve added with a shrug. Damon let out a laugh making everyone glare at the two. "I guess I'm just confused as ta why yer all lettin' her get under yer skin." Eve sassed back at everyone. Damon watched as Alaric folded his arms. Despite the frown of disapproval, Damon saw the slightest hint of agreement in his eyes.

"No." Elena stated sternly. "No one is killing her until I know what's going on." Elena said. This time Damon actually saw Eve roll her eyes. "You can't just solve your problems by killing them." Elena chastised. If Eve could roll her eyes to the back of her skull she would.

"She's not even me problem." Eve nearly snapped back. Elena glared back at her. Eve let out an annoyed sigh before raising her hands in defense. "I won't kill her, if ya'd like me word." Eve grumbled. "A pinkie swear, if ya would like." Eve stated, reaching out her pinkie finger but not taking a single step closer to Elena. "A pinkie swear is a pinkie sworn." Eve stated seriously, wiggling her pinkie at Elena. Damon let himself chuckle as he walked over to Eve and locked her pinkie with his. Eve sent a confused look up his way.

"No murdering until after we find out what Isobel wants." Damon re-stated Elena's earlier words shaking Eve's hand. "Pinkie promise." Damon glanced down at Eve as he felt her tense up at the action. A ping of guilt rattled around his chest. What was he so guilty about? "Make the arrangement." Damon said, looking back over at Alaric, hyper-aware of how Eve pulled away from his pinkie promise...how she pulled away from him

Eve sat at the bar, twisted on her stool ever so slightly to better observe Elena. Eve glanced at her phone. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard. She wanted someone to talk to...but she hated how Caroline text...and she couldn't talk to Damon. He was far too busy with this whole Elena drama. But if she called Caroline, she wouldn't be able to put all her focus on Elena...Eve groaned as she took the glass of jameson in front of her and took a sip before pulling out her phone.

Eve: When do you need me wherever for this float?
Caroline: cme wenever. Been here since 7 am. YUCK
Eve: Where at?
Caroline: School parking lot.
Eve: Be there as soon as I can
Caroline: Dnt worry, take ur time ;)

Eve felt herself wanting to giggle but forced the sound back with another sip of her jameson. Eve sighed as she glanced back at Elena now seeing a dark haired woman sitting with her. Oops. Eve focused her listening on them. It sounded like the two had been talking.

"Human life means that little to you?" Elena asked. Eve could feel the judgement from her tone alone.

"Means nothing to me. It's just part of being what I am." Isobel, or at least that's who Eve presumed the woman was, replied back smoothly. Either she had her humanity off or she always sounded like a cold person, Eve wasn't sure about that either. She had a few too many drinks waiting on Isobel…

"No it's not. I know other vampires, that's not true." Elena stated back quickly. Eve knew that Elena wasn't talking about her. Eve thought about it for a moment. Why didn't Elena like Eve? Was it the fact that she was friends with Damon? A vampire? Elena surely hadn't seen her kill anyone, Eve was sure of that. The only people she had killed were those tomb vampires that had held her hostage in that farm house...And Elena wasn't even around to see her rip a man's heart out, so what was it... Eve took another sip of her jameson, listening back in on Elena's conversation.

"Your new boyfriend over there by the pool table?" Eve's interest peaked as she focused her hearing again. "Stefan Salvatore. Why Stefan? Why didn't you go for Damon?" Eve felt her own heart begin to beat in her chest at Isobel's comments. "Or are you enjoying them both like Katherine did?" Eve turned herself away from the two and raised her hand at the bartender. She needed a little more jameson to deal with the sudden ache she was feeling.

Damon looked at the Grill from across the street. His nerves were on edge. Isobel was a weaker vampire. Eve could handle herself...but what about Elena. Damon found himself thinking more and more about Elena's safety lately with everything that's happened. It made his stomach churn and he hated it.

"We should be in there." Damon grumbled, looking back at Alaric as he stood the opposite way of the Grill, his arms folded, leaning against the back of a bench.

"No," Alaric stated, looking back at Damon. "Isobel made it clear we're not to step a foot inside." Alaric said sternly. Damon rolled his eyes back at him and raised his hands a little defensively.

"I'm not going to kill her in a crowded restaurant." Damon muttered.

"You're not going to kill her period!" Alaric snapped back at him. "You pinkie promised." Alaric muttered making Damon feel the same ping of guilt he had felt earlier...He didn't have time to process what was going on with Evie. He had to focus on Elena...Another shot of guilt ran through, which he promptly ignored.

"She ruined your life and you still want to protect her?" Damon muttered back, ignoring Alaric's comment and pacing a few steps away from him.

"She's my wife." Alaric stated making Damon look back at him. "Was." Alaric corrected himself. "Was my wife." Alaric muttered. "I looked for the woman I married but she wasn't there." Alaric said, glancing back over his shoulder at the Grill. "Whoever that is, she's cold and detached." Alaric continued. Damon knew by his tone he was disappointed. Welcome to the club.

"Yeah," Damon scoffed. "She's given up her humanity." Alaric stopped him before he could continue.

"Yeah, see, I don't get that." Alaric stated, bringing Damon's attention back to him. Damon raised an eyebrow back at him briefly before glancing back at the Grill. "Stefan has his humanity, he's a good guy." Alaric continued. "Eve's a little more grey but she tried to stop me from coming and killing you without killing me. She's friendly enough with people, and I've only ever seen her kill those people at the farm." Alaric continued making Damon cringe as the memory of Eve all beat up and tortured tried to surface in his memories. "Hell, you're a dick and you kill people but I still see something human in you. But with her there was…" Alaric trailed off for a moment. "Nothing." Disappointed layered his voice. Damon looked at the sad teacher for a moment longer.

"You can turn it off, like a button you can press." Damon explained, turning back towards Alaric. "I mean, Stefan's different. He wants the whole human experience." Damon grumbled. "He wants to feel every episode of How I Met Your Mother," Damon explained, exasperated by even having to say the words of the sitcom. "So he shuts his feelings out. The problem is, as a vampire, your instinct is not to feel." Damon continued to explain watching as Alaric looked down and nodded. "Isobel chose the easier road - no guilt, no shame, no regret. I mean, come on, if you could turn it off, wouldn't you?" Damon asked walking over and leaning besides Alaric on the bench.

"You haven't." Alaric stated too quickly for Damon's liking. Damon couldn't even help the scoff that left his throat.

"Of course I have, Ric." Damon emphasized his name. Memories tried to flash through his mind. Stefan. Charlotte. Enzo. Maggie. Evie. Damon blinked. "It's why I'm so fun to be around." Damon sassed back at Alaric.

Eve knew she shouldn't have gulped down two glasses in less than a minute. And yet there she was feeling a headache and stomach ache she was all too familiar. Eve glanced back over at Elena and saw Isobel getting up. Eve watched as Isobel walked towards the backdoors Eve shook her head as she began walking towards the door as well. Elena was with Stefan. She would be fine. Eve followed Isobel as she walked out the back way of the Grill, feeling her vision slightly double. Eve took another breath in as she followed Isobel out the back door at a nice distance. As soon as Eve walked out the back door, she felt hands wrap around her throat and throw her against the nearest wall. Shit.

"Hello." Isobel stated digging her nails into Eve's throat. Eve felt the air sting the now punctured wounds as Eve choked. "I don't believe we've met." Isobel stated coldly. Eve took in a deep breath before she shoved Isobel backwards. "You're a lot more resistant to vervain than I knew." Isobel stated, almost sounding impressed. Eve raised an eyebrow back at the woman as she touched her now healed neck. "I had the bartender spike your drinks." Isobel explained making Eve glare back at her as she leaned against the wall behind her. The jameson had been a bit stronger than she remembered. "I'm assuming that you're Evelyn?" Isobel asked, simply staring back at Eve with a cold, blank stare.

"Aye." Eve muttered, annoyed by the effects of vervain that was apparently in her system. Isobel smiled, but it never made it up to her eyes.

"John told me about you." Isobel stated. Eve couldn't help but scowl. "You're a lot shorter than I would have thought." Isobel said looking Eve up and down. "Truthfully, I didn't really imagine much with John's description being a quote, a fiery little redhead." Isobel quoted. Eve rolled her eyes and continued to glare at Isobel.

"I must be really important if John's tellin' ya about me. Is he dreatened by me?" Eve snarked back. Isobel chuckled making Eve's blood boil.

"He's more threatened by Damon, but seeing as you're Damon's little play toy, I suppose he thought that you might be of use." Isobel explained making Eve's brows furrow. Isobel let out another chuckle. "I get it." Isobel shrugged. "I cheated on my husband for him." Isobel said so chalantly. Eve felt her fists ball. "Too bad he's still in love with Katherine." Isobel stated. Eve rolled her eyes despite the pain that left through her chest. "Must be sad...never really knowing love." Isobel continued as she began walking towards the street.

Eve flittered over to her, ignoring the dizzy spell and quickly grabbing and shoving Isobel backwards. Eve stumbled as she tried to throw the woman only to be thrown back against the opposite side of the alleyway against a different wall. Eve let out a small groan as she fell on to her ass. A sharp pain was coming from her back. Eve leaned forward and grabbed for whatever was stabbing her and pulled out a thick sharp piece of cement. Isobel walked over to her and knelt down beside her.

"Not from your parents, not from Damon." Isobel continued, cocking her head slightly to the side as she smiled and spoke. Eve glared up at her. It was all she could do as her energy was focused on the hole in her back. Isobel's eyes sparkled for a moment. "I spoke too soon." Isobel continued. "I suppose Aidan felt something for you." Eve couldn't control the emotions she knew passed across her face. "Alistar sends his regards too." Isobel said, a smile crossing her lips as Eve felt her own begin to quiver. "He also says that it's too soon...but expect a visit soon." Isobel chuckled, standing up straight and walking away. Eve curled her knees up to her chest as she let her head rest on them as she felt herself begin to hyperventilate. She was too drunk...too much vervain...too many emotions.

People began flooding Eve's head. Aidan. His black hair always neatly styled and slicked back waves. His blue eyes. Shining brightly when he smiled. Glazed over when he died. Her mother. Wrinkles over her entire body. Dark Jade eyes, never shining, having lost their shine once her father was dead...dark jade eyes like her brother. Séamus. Grey hair overtaking his once dark ginger. Curls still as bouncy as ever. Dark jade eyes with so much shine and sparkle for the world. For his children. For his wife. For her, just for a moment before the life left them.

"Evelyn."

The words barely processed as Eve began to feel someone shaking her shoulder. Eve's head snapped up to see Stefan's green eyes. Another wave of grief washed over her as Stefan pulled her into a hug so tight she couldn't stand it. She wasn't standing at all. Eve quickly wrapped her arms around him. Stefan softly 'shh'ed her, snuggling into her before he began gently petting her hair.

"Careful, Stef." Eve said aloud, so quietly she knew only Stefan could hear. "It might eat ya." Eve said causing Stefan to chuckle before pulling back. Concern was across his face, but his eyes showed so much hurt. He was too kind. Eve took a deep breath in. He smelled like a distant memory of something she could never know. It wasn't sad...Not anymore.

"Are you okay?" Stefan asked gently, wiping her eyes with his hands. It was familiar, but different. Not unwanted, though. Eve nodded as she began to try and get herself up. Stefan backed up and stood up, reaching down to help her up. Eve took his hand. Waves of deja vu hit her, or maybe that was just the sudden movement and nausea. "Don't lie to me, Eve." Stefan said sternly. Eve blinked back at him.

"No, I'm not." Eve replied obediently. As soon as she could, she scowled. Stefan let out a small sigh, his brows furrowed in concern, but he looked a little annoyed with her for not telling him what exactly was bugging her. Eve knew he was going to ask her to tell him. And she would tell him, whether she wanted to or not, judging from the look he was giving her.

"Tell me." Stefan said, his voice gentle, but Eve knew that wasn't a simple request.

"Alistar saw me in New York. Isobel told me he sends his regards and that we'll see each other soon." Eve said. Stefan stood, shock slowly enveloping his whole face. "Not too soon, as Isobel so lovingly stated." Eve muttered. "Listen, Stefan, I don't…" Eve trailed off trying to find the words to properly tell him what she was thinking. "I want to know about dis invention." Eve continued as Stefan folded his arms. "If Jonnathan Gilbert invented it and it's harmful ta vampires...what if-" Before Eve could even finish her thought Stefan shook his head.

"No. Absolutely not." Stefan stated sternly. Eve let out a short sigh, pouting. "Eve, there's just...there's just too much to chance." Stefan said, shaking his head, thinking for himself. Eve sighed and rolled her eyes. "Let's just learn a little more about the thing before we do anything drastic...Like end a decade long rivalry." Stefan tried to reason. "Don't do anything drastic." The words were stern with a hint of playfulness, but Eve felt the sire bond click something in her mind. Eve sighed and rubbed her face free of any left over tears. "Come on, let's go back home." Stefan said, gesturing towards the alley towards the street.

"Don't…" Eve started as the two began to walk. Stefan paused, looking down at her for a moment. "Don't tell Damon about dis." Eve said, looking back up at Stefan. "Please." Eve pleaded. Eve's heart ached at the sad, puppy dog eyes Stefan shot back at her. "Just...Not now, okay?" Eve asked. Stefan took a moment before he nodded.

The two walked onto the sidewalk and the world felt heavier. As if for a moment, in the alley behind the Grill, time had stopped, if only for a moment before it had come crashing back down. Stefan walked close beside her as the two saw Damon, Elena and Alaric across the street. Eve felt her heart ache as Damon talked with Elena.

It's always going to be her.

Despite that sentence always being in the back of her mind, always being present, this time she heard them. She listened. She had always listened to the words but this time, it was different. The words had always been a reminder she always seemed to forget about when she was with Damon. When he looked at her with his shiny blue eyes. When he talked to her with his incredibly low voice. But things were different. She should never have come back to Mystic Falls.

Damon's attention landed on the two as they crossed the street. His eyes glazed over Stefan before he stared at Eve. Irritation and anger flashed through them before worry inevitably landed as his main emotion. He quickly left Elena's side and walked over to the two. Eve glanced over at Stefan for a moment to see his concerned green eyes meet her own. Stefan's hand gently grazed Eve's arm as he walked past Damon and over to Elena. Damon froze in front of Eve.

Maybe it was the vervain that was still in her system, or maybe it was the sudden ache she felt, but Damon spoke and Eve didn't hear any of it. Too many emotions were rushing through Eve. Memories tried to resurface, but Eve shoved those down with just trying to focus on each little emotion she felt in that moment.

After a minute, she blinked and felt an arm grab her and start leading her somewhere. Eve watched as Damon lead her to his car. Eve got into the passenger seat. The world was filled with white noise and all Eve could see in her mind was a switch.

Eve looked around at the crowd of people in the parking lot of the high school. Eve had forgotten how enthusiastic people were with their traditions. Eve remembered, vaguely, about the Founder's Days she was actually alive for...or, at least human for. Then again, that had been the last time she had even acknowledged Founder's Days or cared about the activities that the town put on. Now she was right back where she started or right back to where it had begun.

Eve looked around the parking lot before she saw the blonde she had been looking for. Standing up on one of the floats that were being made, in a dark jacket, blue plaid shirt and skinny jeans. The float Caroline stood on was the only float that even looked remotely done. Eve could see one that was still simply wood. Eve wondered for a moment if Caroline had planned the float out while she was sleeping or if she had planned it months in advance. The thought made her chuckle to herself as she maneuvered around the crowd to get closer to the float.

"Honestly Care, I'm a bit baffled by yer commitment ta anythin' 'Founders'." Eve sassed as she got closer to the float and whipped Caroline with a string of ribbons from the ground. Caroline let out a small yelp of surprise before she turned around and looked down at Eve and sent her a playful glare.

"Everything has to be perfect." Caroline sassed, nodding towards where Eve could get up on the float. "I'm going for Southern Classic Elegance." Caroline explained as Eve made her way up onto the float.

"Gone with the Wind?" Eve asked rubbing her arms against her dark maroon leather jacket from the slightly brist breeze of February.

"Am I really that predictable?" Caroline asked with a gentle whine making Eve chuckle as she stepped up to where Caroline was sitting. "Hand me that hammer." Caroline stated, pointing to a hammer beside Eve's feet. Eve shrugged, answering her first question before bending down and handing Caroline the hammer. Eve looked over the crowd of people. "So, how was your morning?" Caroline asked with a hint of playfulness as she leaned down and grabbed a star before standing up on her tiptoes to reach a column on the float. Eve blinked back at her in response before sitting down on the step that Caroline stood on.

"Uneventful." Eve stated back, trying not to smile as she saw Caroline's head snapped down towards her.

"What?!" Caroline nearly screamed making Eve, and a few people close to the float turn to look at Caroline. Eve waved off the people who turned with a gentle, embarrassed smile. "What do you mean?!" Caroline snapped, waving the hammer back down at Eve.

"I woke up maybe two hour ago, Care." Eve tried to simmer Caroline down.

"So? Do you know how much can get done in two hour?!" Caroline hissed hopping down to the same step as Eve. Eve let out a laugh.

"Care, I don't dink I can just-"

"What? Jump his bones?" Caroline scoffed. An ache Eve refused to feel. "It's not that hard, Eve." Caroline continued. Eve let out another laugh at how mad Caroline was at the whole situation.

"Care, it's not dat easy." Eve tried before Caroline shook her head.

"All I'm saying is that a 17 year old shouldn't be getting more action than a 22 year old." Caroline lectured making Eve snort. Her ears began to burn but Eve ignored them at how worked up Caroline was. "What did you even do for an hour?" Caroline asked pointedly, folding her arms. Eve let out a small sigh and shrugged.

"It takes about 15 minutes ta get here." Eve stated, quickly followed by a smack to her arm from Caroline. Eve laughed aloud, glad that Caroline hadn't used the hammer to smack her. "All we did was talk. And den he had ta go do somethin'." Eve shrugged truthfully. Well, half truthfully. Caroline didn't need to know about the Grill, her emotional breakdown and the ever looming threat of a century old vampire coming to Mystic Falls to inevitably kill anyone Eve was associated with. Caroline rolled her eyes.

Eve remembered seeing him for the first time in a week and her heart felt like it was going to stop. Seeing him, smiling at her, saying he missed her too...The words played over in her mind as she ignored the pain.

"You refuse to sleep with a hunky dude in New York City, no strings attached, because you're in love with Da-" Eve quickly, flittering over to her, slapped her hand over Caroline's mouth to keep her from telling the entire parking lot her dilemma.

"Well Christ don't tell de who world!" Eve snapped back quietly at Caroline, a blush creeping across her freckled face as she felt several eyes on the two of them from the sudden outburst. Eve pulled Caroline down to Eve's height, taking her hand off Caroline's mouth before she tried to bite her.

"Might be easier to figure things out if you'd just both get naked and fu-"

Before Caroline could finish her sentence a cry of pain pulled everyone's attention to the float just a few meters from where Eve and Caroline were.

"Get this trailer!" Eve heard a familiar male voice ring out in pain. Caroline let out a gasp as she quickly got off the float, Eve followed.

"Matt!" Caroline yelled as she began shoving through the crowd. Eve stayed close behind her.

"Come on guys help me!" Eve heard Matt snap aloud. As soon as the two had gotten through the crowd, Matt was on the ground beside a broken down float with Stefan close by. Caroline was quickly at Matt's side before Stefan pulled her back.

"Caroline, call an ambulance." Stefan stated sternly, kneeling down beside Matt. Eve walked over to Caroline as she quickly pulled out her phone and dialed the number.

"911 what is your emergency?" Eve heard the operator ask from Caroline's phone as Caroline quickly began to explain. Eve looked back at Caroline before looking back over at Stefan as he had his hand on Matt's uninjured shoulder.

Eve quickly walked over to him, grabbing onto Stefan's leather jacket and pulled him away a few steps. Stefan followed where he was pulled as a few others began to close in on Matt, asking him questions while the crowd continued to watch and mutter.

"Go, I've got dis." Eve stated towards Stefan, but didn't bother turning and looking at him. Eve felt his eyes staring back at her. Eve glanced up at him and nodded behind her, away from the commotion. "No need for a relapse, Stef." Eve sassed, glancing back over at Matt.

"Are you going to be o-" Stefan got out before Eve rolled her eyes and nudged him along towards a voice. Stefan's attention turned towards what she knew was Elena's voice. Eve stared back up Stefan, waiting until he looked back down at her, with his stupid puppy dog eyes.

"Go." Eve stated, nudging him along. Stefan quickly made his way through the crowd towards Elena's voice. Eve turned her attention towards Caroline's voice.

"I don't know what happened, he was working on a float and something happened and his arm got caught and crushed under it or something." Eve heard Caroline say quickly. Eve quickly walked over to where she heard Caroline. A softer voice replied to her.

"Okay Caroline, I'm going to need you to take a deep breath and slow down, it's hard to hear you." Eve finally saw Caroline as she was on the phone, pacing back and forth. Eve walked over to her as she saw Caroline's chest begin to heave. Eve quickly pulled the phone from Caroline's hand and put it to her own ear.

"Hi, not Caroline." Eve stated into the phone. "We need an ambulance to come to Mystic High for an accident." Eve stated calmly as Caroline began to hyperventilate. Eve grabbed hold of Caroline's hand and looked up at her and mouthed the words 'breathe'.

"How long will it take?" Caroline asked out breathily. Eve squeezed her hand.

"Do ya have an estimated time of how long it will take fer an ambulance ta get ta de school?" Eve asked the operator.

"It will take 15 to 20 minutes, but I'll-" The operator said and began to talk more.

"Great, danks." Eve stated, hanging the phone up and giving it back to Caroline.

"Wait, aren't you supposed to stay on the line with them until they get here?" Caroline asked quickly. Eve didn't say a word as she put Caroline's phone back into her pocket.

"The ambulance said it'll be 15 to 20 minutes. It will probably be faster ta take him in a car." Eve stated. "Apply pressure if there's a lot of blood, which I don't dink dere is." Eve continued, already knowing that Matt wouldn't need that as she would have smelled a lot more blood. "Otherwise, just keep de arm in de most comfortable position." Eve explained before taking Caroline's face into her hands. "Ya have ta stay calm. Matt's strong, right?" Eve asked as Caroline gently nodded her head. "So he'll be alright. But ya have ta stay calm, okay? I'm here and so is he. And it's goin' ta be okay." Eve stated making Caroline breathe out a long breath. "Ya okay?" Eve asked, letting go of Caroline's face. Caroline only nodded before looking back to where Matt was. "So let's go be calm closer ta loverboy, aye?" Eve asked, gently nudging Caroline back towards Matt. Caroline quickly ran back over to him as Eve walked behind slowly.

"The ambulance is saying in 15-20 minutes." Caroline explained to Matt as she kneeled down beside him.

"I have my car. I can take him to the hospital." A teenage boy with dark black hair stated as he kneeled down beside Matt as well.

"Caroline can take me." Matt retorted quickly.

"I didn't drive." Caroline stated quickly, concern growing on her face.

"Eve then?" Matt asked, looking back at Eve.

"No." Caroline said back too quickly for Eve's liking. "You're already hurt and letting Eve drive you won't help your arm at all." Caroline stated making Eve scoff. Caroline rolled her eyes back at Eve. "You drove me to New York in five hours when it was supposed to take at least seven. Along with driving me around in New York." Caroline hissed back up at her. Eve opened her mouth to defend herself only to let it shut close. Matt let out a small, annoyed sigh.

"I'll wait. It's fine." Matt grumbled.

"You will not wait okay?!" Caroline snapped, turning her attention back to Matt. "You need to see a doctor, Tyler is driving. End of story." Caroline stated sternly.

"Fine!" Matt snapped back at her, not bothering to look up at the other boy, Tyler.

"Go!" Caroline snapped back up at Tyler.

"I'll bring my car around." Tyler said quickly standing up. Matt let out a small grunt as Caroline flicked his ear.

"Can you just get over this bullshit?" Caroline hissed lowly at Matt.

"He made out with my mom, Caroline." Matt growled back. Eve patted Caroline's shoulder before kneeling down beside her. Matt glanced over at Eve and rolled his eyes.

"Hey Care, I'm going ta go back home. I'll leave ya two alone." Eve began before Matt let out a scoff.

"Doesn't matter, not like she hasn't told you anything you haven't heard before." Matt muttered lowly as Eve stood up. Eve felt a pinch of anger, not with what he had said but by the way Caroline cringed ever so slightly. Eve knelt down beside Matt.

"Oh, you better believe dat, Matty boy." Eve chirped lowly with a sweet smile, her hand slapping down onto his good shoulder and turning his attention towards her. "Yer goin' ta be cooperative with Caroline and Tyler from here until they get ya ta de hospital." Eve compelled Matt lowly. Matt nodded obediently. "They are tryin' ta help and ya bein' a prick ta either of dem isn't doin' ya any favors." Eve growled, squeezing his good arm alarmingly hard, making him wince before Eve stood up. "Just let me know if ya need anythin', alright Care?" Eve said, looking back up at Caroline, placing her hand on Caroline's shoulder. Caroline gave a small smile back up at Eve and patted her hand on top of Eve's. Eve pulled her hand away slowly before turning her back to the scene.

Surprisingly, even with someone getting hurt, there was only a small amount of people still crowded around the scene. All the others seemed to disperse and continue doing whatever they had been doing before. Or just relaxing. Eve subconsciously looked around the crowd as she began walking around them, trying to get to where all the cars were parked. She wondered where Stefan had gone. Most likely to wherever Elena was.

Eve felt herself shiver as she finally emerged from the crowd of people and walked away from the commotion. As she continued walking away from people and around different cars to get to her own, her hair raised. Eve felt strange. As if someone was watching her. Eve's paranoia sparked in an instant as she looked around the dirt and grass makeshift parking lot as the other parking lot was being used to make floats. Eve was far enough away from the crowd now that she couldn't really feel anyone from there staring...No, this was closer...Eve let herself sigh as she rummaged in her leather jacket for her keys as she got closer to her car.

"Eve." Eve stopped as she unlocked her car. Eve felt her eyes roll nearly to the back of her head. Eve turned around and looked at John Gilbert. "Fancy seeing you here." John smirked. Eve folded her arms back at him. "What? Cat got your tongue?" Eve rolled her eyes at him.

"I'll have yers if ya don't tell me what ya want." Eve growled back. John only tsked back at her making her blood boil.

"I'd watch the tone if I were you. You know, seeing that I know about your past." John continued cockily. Eve forced herself not to roll her eyes for the third time at him.

"If all ya wanted ta do was taunt me, please allow me to snap your neck and end dis encounter early." Eve grumbled as she turned her back on him and unlocked her car.

"Liam wasn't just a lawyer." John muttered aloud making Eve freeze as she held the driver side door open. "See, I do know about your past. Let me tell you, you are a hard person to track that far back...Eibhlín." Eve didn't even try to maintain her composure. In a single second, Eve had flittered over to him and grabbed onto his throat. Even in her heeled boots, she knew she wasn't tall enough to lift him and choke him. Disappointing.

"Don't ya ever say me name like dat again." Eve warned lowly, but that only made John chuckle back at her before Eve squeezed her hand tighter, abruptly ending his chuckle. "I don't know what ya found on me, but don't ever talk about me nephew." Eve growled. Eve shoved John back into a car, making a satisfying thump as he fell into it. Eve let herself breath as she turned back around to go to her car.

"Hey, I get it." John coughed. "Family is a tough subject." John continued. "I can't even imagine what I'd be like if I saw the aftermath of my family being mur-" Eve didn't even let herself think as she flittered over to him and stomped on to his throat. A low gurgle before silence was like music to her ears. Eve wiped the bottom of her shoe onto John's lifeless chest, getting the bottom of her shoe a little cleaner from the blood that would have stuck to it. He wasn't worth the hassle of having to get her car detailed and explaining the bloody footprints.

Damon watched from across the room as Bonnie began doing her witchy thing. Damon let himself hum quietly, mockingly at the act. His attention fell upon Elena, who was looking over at him giving him a disapproving look. Damon couldn't even help his eyes from rolling at her judgy little look. The lights began to flicker. Damon watched as Elena jumped into Stefan's arms as the fireplace's fire raged higher. Damon felt his jaw clench. A feeling in his chest. Damon rolled his eyes at himself as Bonnie let the little artifact float back down into her hands.

"Done." Bonnie stated, looking back over at Elena and Stefan.

"Neat parlor trick." A different feeling. A fluttering. It had been an hour since he had seen her come out of the back alley with Stefan, but something was different.

Damon stopped his pacing as he saw Stefan come out of the Grill with Elena. Alaric stood up from the spot he had been leaning on and stood beside Damon as Stefan and Elena crossed the street. Elena's eyes were red.

"Are you okay?" Damon asked, walking up to the two but keeping his focus directly on Elena. Elena nodded, despite the tears that were still in her eyes.

"Where's Eve?" Alaric's voice pulled Damon from his sudden trance that was Elena's sadness. Damon looked back over at Stefan. Stefan looked over at him, his brows furrowing slightly.

"I thought she had come out here…" Stefan said, trailing off. Damon took in a breath. "I'll go back in there and check. She may just still be at the bar." Stefan said, already turning around. Damon felt his heart begin to race. Stefan was always awful at pretending things were okay. His emotions were always splayed on his face. Even with Stefan quickly turning around to go back to the Grill, Damon saw the sudden fear that washed over his already dumb and serious face. Eve was older...Damon kept telling himself that before he glanced back down to Elena who kept her head down.

"Not to say I told you so, but I did say your mom sucked." Damon stated aloud. Guilt quickly wrapped around him as Elena didn't look up and laugh. Alaric sent her a glare. Damon bit his tongue. Eve would have laughed. "No offense." Damon tried with a smirk back at Alaric, but that only made him fold his arms. God he was a good teacher. Really gave off the 'I'm disappointed in you' vibe.

Damon rolled his eyes as he looked across the street. His heart once more began to race as he saw Stefan and Eve walk out from the back alley. Damon felt emotions rush through him. Irritation at Stefan for not keeping an eye on Eve. Anger at how much paler Eve looked, but that only made him worry. As the two walked across the street, close to each other a knot formed in his stomach. Why did she look so much paler than she usually did. Damon began walking over to the two to meet them. Damon watched as Eve looked back up to Stefan for a moment and the two's eyes met. Stefan gently touched Eve's arm before he looked up at Damon. Damon felt his stomach lurch at the worry in Stefan's eyes as he passed him and walked over to Elena.

"You okay, Evie?" Damon asked gently, but Eve never even bothered looking up at him. Her eyes seemed glazed over as she ignored his question. The silence was an answer in itself. Damon wondered what had happened in the alley of the Grill.

Damon looked back to Stefan who gave him the same worried look and shook his head. Damon let out a small sigh as he nodded at Stefan to somewhere away from both Elena and Eve so that the two could talk. Stefan gave Elena's hand a small squeeze as he walked over a few feet with Damon close behind.

"What happened?" Damon asked quietly, not even sure if Eve would listen to their conversation with how caught up in her head she seemingly was.

"Isobel must have spiked her drinks with some vervain or something. Eve probably followed her out the back and Isobel said some things to her." Stefan explained cautiously, causing an angry spark to ignite in Damon.

"So she's got vervain in her?" Damon asked, glancing back at Eve, seeing a hole in the back of her shirt showing a small bit of dried blood around it. Stefan was nodding when Damon looked back at him. "What did Isobel say to her?" Damon asked. Stefan's brows furrowed in concern as he folded his arms and shrugged. Damon rolled his eyes back at him. "You're an awful liar, Stef." Damon grumbled. Stefan let out a small sigh, his eyes looking past him over to Eve.

"She...she doesn't want you to know." Stefan said hesitantly, looking back to Damon. Damon's brows slowly furrowed before he blinked and felt himself open his mouth to protest but shut it quickly, glancing back to Eve. "At least not right now." Stefan tried to add but that only pissed Damon off more. Damon glared back at Stefan as anger began to consume him.

"Why would she tell you and not me?" Damon asked aloud, feeling his voice raise. Stefan flinched at his tone. "You two aren't even friends." Damon hissed lowly, lowering his voice as to not bring anyone else's attention to the two. Stefan let out a short huff.

"And what are you two then if she's not telling you?" Stefan growled back, his brows furrowing as he spoke. Damon let out a scoff before he turned on his heel and walked back over to Eve and grabbed onto her arm. Her eyes glanced at his hand but never met his eyes. Damon pulled Eve to his car. If she wasn't going to tell him what Isobel said, he would find out for himself.

OOOOO

Damon was there for a reason. But if he could have a little fun waiting for the damned woman he was going to. That's how he ended up playing strip poker with one of Isobel's little minions. He had won a few more times than Cherie, so she was in her underwear and thigh high stockings and he was shirtless. That was until she laid down her hand of four of a kind.

"Oh Oh Cherie," Damon said aloud playfully. "You won again. I hope I'm wearing my good underwear." Damon smirked over at the brunette as he stood up and unbuckled his belt. A door closing and clicks of heels turned Damon's attention to Isobel.

"And it's just one blast from the past after another." Isobel said, walking further into the room. Damon zipped his fly back up. "No, no, no." Isobel protested towards Damon before her attention turned towards the woman on the couch. "Dégage, Cherie." Isobel said. Cherie stood up and left. Damon wiggled his fingers at her as she left, his eyes wandered and a hint of guilt crept through him. He was here for a reason. He had to keep telling himself that reason wasn't to get laid...even if it had been an irritatingly long time.

"Mmm." Damon smirked, as Cherie finally left his line of site. Damon's attention went back to Isobel. "It's good to see you, Isobel." Damon muttered as he pulled his button up shirt back on. "I was just having fun with your naughty little minion." Damon explained. Isobel leaned against a nearby wall.

"Mmm." Isobel muttered. "How'd you find me?" Isobel asked. Damon flittered over to her.

"Searched all the neighborhood bank-owned foreclosures and found the most expensive one." Damon muttered lowly as he stood in front of her.

"Oh I should have known. You're the one who taught me that." Isobel stated making Damon make a sound of agreement. "What are you really doing here?" Isobel asked.

"Well you caused quite a stir, you blew into town." Damon stated truthfully. "Saw everyone except for the man who made you." Damon said, leaning closer to her. "I'm a little hurt." Damon felt his heart race quicken as she leaned closer to his neck.

"I'm so sorry." Isobel apologized without a hint of being sorry before she grabbed onto his hair and pulled him down with vampire speed. "Did you bring the device?" Isobel snapped in his ear before she flittered away from him. Damon let himself breath out a chuckle before he rubbed his head.

"What are you doing with John Gilbert?" Damon asked. He didn't care...Well, he did, but that wasn't why he was here. The words didn't seem to want to come out quite yet.

"We dated a few times when we were young. He was a little bit in love with me." Isobel said sweetly, pushing a strand of hair out of her face. Damon resisted the urge to roll his eyes.

"I'm sure. One of the many." Damon snarked back as he began walking towards her. "Now, this little invention what do you want with it?" Damon asked. If he was here, he was going to ask all the questions Alaric failed to ask. And a few of his own.

"Oh, me personally?" Isobel asked as she tried to hand Damon a wine glass. "I don't want anything with it. I'm just doing what I'm told." Isobel continued as Damon put the wine glass back where she had picked it up from. "You know Damon we're on the same side." Isobel stated as Damon gently pulled her chin upwards to better stare at her.

"Oh yeah? What side is that?" Damon asked.

"Katherine's." Damon felt his heart skip at the name as Isobel began running her hands down the side of his face. "She wants John Gilbert to have the device and I think that you know that she's not happy when she doesn't get what she wants." Isobel said, resting her hands on the side of his face. A memory of Eve popped into his head at the actions Isobel was doing. Damon shoved her hands back.

"Why are you doing her dirty work?" Damon asked as Isobel began backing up from him

"Don't kill the messenger." Isobel muttered back as Damon began walking back up to her. "We both know that you can't control Katherine. She does what she wants." Isobel stated matter-o-factly. Damon let out a scoff.

"So do I." Damon muttered

"Oh really Damon? You do?" Isobel stated mockingly before she flittered in front of him. Damon quickly grabbed hold of her wrist as she breathed against his lips. Fuck it had been too long. "What should we do now?" Isobel asked lowly. Damon let out a short chuckle as Isobel kissed him and wrapped her arms around his neck. Damon let himself go for a moment as he was flittered back to the couch. Isobel straddle him for a moment, holding onto his face and kissing him. Damon's eyes shot open from the action that triggered something in his head. Evie. Damon grabbed Isobel by the throat and slammed her to the ground.

"Now that I have your attention, listen up." Damon snapped, annoyed by the husk that was still in his voice. "What did you say to Evie?" The words tumbled out of his mouth as he glared down at Isobel. Confusion crossed over her pained face.

"Your little play thing?" Isobel choked making Damon glare and squeeze tighter. Isobel grabbed hold of his hand and tried to pry him off. "I just told her to expect a visit from an old friend." Isobel stated with a hint of satisfaction in her eyes. Damon continued to glare at her.

"Old friend? What is that supposed to mean?" Damon growled. Isobel let out a cough.

"I don't know!" Isobel snapped, veins beginning to crawl across her eyes. "I told you, I'm just the messenger!" Isobel choked. Damon let out a huff as he loosened his grip.

"You do not come into my town; threaten the people I care about." Damon snarled, getting closer to her. "Going after Elena; after Evie?" Damon nearly chuckled. "Bad move. You leave them alone or I will rip you to bits because I do believe in killing the messenger. You know why?" Damon asked, getting close enough he could feel her shallow breathing against his lips. "Because it sends a message." Damon whispered with a smirk before he slammed her head against the ground. Isobel let out a pained cry. "Katherine wants something from me? You tell that little bitch to come get it herself." Damon hissed before letting go of Isobel and leaving the house.

Damon looked at the entrance of the library to see Eve standing in the frame. In the corner of his eye, he knew that the witch had rolled her eyes. Even from where he stood, he knew that the witch's mood had soured at the entrance of Eve. Or maybe it was what she had said rather than the entrance. Damon didn't care. She was here and he could properly make fun of the little spectacle and get at least a chuckle. "I seem ta have missed all de fun." Eve stated folding her arms. Damon began walking over to her, almost instinctively. "What is dat?" Eve asked, nodding towards where Bonnie was.

"Well-" Damon began pulling Eve's attention before it was quickly taken away by Bonnie.

"It's a device from 1864 that Jonathan Gilbert made that's a weapon against vampires." Bonnie nearly growled the words back. Eve raised an eyebrow back at her in response.

"So...we're all against vampires now?" Eve asked, glancing over at Elena and Stefan before her gaze met Damon's. Another jolt ran through his body. "Yer alright with dis? 'Cause I'm not personally a fan of where dis seems ta be goin'." Eve sassed back at Damon gesturing back towards Bonnie. Damon couldn't help the smirk that fell onto his lips as he stood next to her now.

"Well, the plan is to give this device to Isobel so that she'll give baby Gilbert back." Damon explained, reveling in the attention he was getting from Eve, despite him feeling her getting more upset with the new information. "Witchy over there was just making the device worthless." Damon continued, watching Eve look back up at him, shocked. Shock quickly turned to anger as her attention snapped over to his baby brother.

"What happened ta learnin' more about de ding before doin' anythin' drastic?" Eve snapped, looking over at Stefan. Stefan looked back at her, guilt flashing over his features.

"Eve, we-" Stefan got out before Elena took a small step forward.

"It was either give Isobel the device or have my brother killed." Elena stated, her voice slightly quivering. Damon looked back at Eve to see her raise an eyebrow back at Elena, as if challenging Elena. Damon felt a pit begin to form in his stomach...Eve was acting like she...

"Didn't I suggest dat earlier we killed her?" Eve asked, irritation dripping from her voice. "And everyone was soooo against it." Eve continued, looking up at Damon. A sparkle of something dark glistened in her eyes as she looked back over at Elena. "Maybe den she wouldn't have yer brother." Eve said coldly. "Wouldn't it have been easier just ta kill her?" Eve asked aloud with a roll of her eyes.

"Easy is one thing, keeping my brother safe is another." Elena growled back at Eve. Damon watched as Stefan rubbed Elena's shoulders gently. Another prick of jealousy ran through his veins. Damon felt Eve look back up at him. Before he could look back at her, her gaze had already left him.

"Fair enough." Eve stated with a defensive shrug. "When are ya plannin' ta give de ding back ta her?" Eve asked making Bonnie look back over at Elena and Stefan to Elena.

"Tonight." Elena stated confidently. Stefan looked down at her for only a moment before looking over at Bonnie. Bonnie nodded back.

"Need any backup?" Damon asked aloud. Once more, Damon felt Eve's eyes on him. "She's got two little minions of hers." Damon shrugged. Elena looked over at Bonnie who only gave a single nod.

"Yeah...I mean...if both you and Stefan came, I think I'll be okay." Elena stated, her once confident tone began to falter.

"Well, Bon-Bon, it seems we're-" Eve's voice rang up beside him turning everyone's attention to her.

"Don't call me that." Bonnie growled back. Eve raised an eyebrow but Damon could see the mischief in her eyes.

"Well, anyways, it looks like it'll just be you and me tonight…" Eve trailed off and Damon couldn't help the chuckle he felt building as she began to smile. "Bon-Bon." The words fell out of her mouth with a smile. The air filled with magic. A pained yelp came from Eve instantly turning the moment sour as her hands flew up to her head. Damon heard Elena say something before Eve was magically shoved backwards. Damon flinched as he heard the smack of Eve hitting the back wall. Damon flittered over to her and bent down. Eve let out a groan.

"You alright?" Damon asked gently as Eve's hand flew to the back of her head.

"Aye." Eve muttered. Damon glared back at Bonnie as she began walking out of the library. "Good toss dere, Bon-Bon." Eve muttered up at Bonnie. Damon sent Eve a glare. "Good ding me hair is red." Eve stated with a chuckle as she pulled her hand back from her head to reveal a small amount of blood. Damon let out an annoyed huff back at Eve as she only smiled back at Bonnie. Bonnie sent a glare back towards the two before she walked around them to presumably leave.

"Evie, you do know that punchlines don't have to end with someone getting punched or hurt, right?" Damon chastised playfully, looking her up and down. His eyes landed on her shoes to see a darker shade of red near the sole. Her laughter filled his ears. A shiver ran up his spine as he looked back at her.

"I learned everythin' I know from ya, so, really, ya can't blame me entirely." Eve sassed back up at him.

"I would apologize for her actions, but I'm not too sorry." Both Damon and Eve's attention turned back towards Elena and Stefan as they walked out of the library. "Even I can't call her 'Bon-Bon'." Elena sassed down at the two. Damon let himself chuckle at the sass. A flutter. "I think three vampires might be a bit excessive…" Elena stated, her joking exterior hardened in a matter of seconds.

"I've already killed one Gilbert tonight, rather not kill another." Eve muttered, standing up and pushing past Damon. Damon caught both the surprised expression from Elena and forced mischievous look from Eve. Damon raised an eyebrow back at her which she smiled back at him. But the smile didn't reach her eyes as she looked back over at Elena. Elena looked like a fish out of water, which would normally make him laugh. Especially since the look was caused by something Eve said...but lately, he didn't find as much joy as he once did making Elena's life miserable. Eve pushed past everyone and left the library.

Damon glanced over at Stefan who was watching. Concern was on his face as he looked back over at Damon. Something was wrong. Damon knew it, but Isobel was the main focus. Because Elena was the main focus of the evening.
