Sabine paced the floor of their living area, every few steps she would lift off the floor slightly only to drop back down into her pacing. With an exasperated huff, she turned to face Louis who was lounging on the couch. Tossing her hands into the air she stomped one foot.

"I can't believe you! No, I take that back. I can believe it, I just don't want to. Seriously Louis? You had to sing the new song to HIM? I suppose I should be grateful he didn't look like he enjoyed it."

Louis drummed the fingers of his right hand on the arm of the couch, the movement the total opposite of his lazy cat-like sprawl.

"I don't understand why it didn't work. We're rock-stars, as you've pointed out before. The charm and flash always works, at least a little. He wanted to be dazzled, I got him to blush!"

Sabine scoffed and crossed her arms.

"Blushing is hardly an accomplishment little brother. You could make most of the fangirls faint with a wink and a blown kiss during a show."

Louis tilted his head and smiled with boyish charm and a touch of mischief.

"But that's the thing 'Bina. The fangirls are boring and predictable. I want someone who can keep up with me, and there's just something about him that makes me want to learn more."

Sabine scoffed loudly.

"You don't know anything about him! Not even his name Louis! How could you possibly know he can keep up with you? Why would you want to chase after this guy, when you could have any of the fangirls or guys with a snap of you fingers? Don't get attached. We're too popular and it isn't safe to get attached to strangers."

Louis straightened up and ran a hand over his short, indigo hair. Lilac eyes met his sister's.

"Maybe I don't. But I want to find out. He's different 'Bina, I can feel it." A couple of black feathers sprouted in his hair and vanished again.

"I love the high I get performing. And the attention is enjoyable, as long as there's a barrier between us and them. But there has to be more to life than this."

Sabine rolled her eyes, voice dripping with skepticism. "More to life than fame and adoration? Please, Louis, don't tell me you're falling for that sappy romantic nonsense. Stop being dramatic. There's no need to go chasing after some random guy just because he didn't fall at your feet like the rest of them. All we need is each other, and the money we get from the shows. All we have left is each other, and as you keep telling me, mama and papa would want us to be happy. And safe. So put him out of your mind."

Louis sighed and slumped on the couch. Sabine was right. That rogue Fire Demon had killed their entire family, almost killed them as well. Sabine had been flung out a 6th floor window, and if she hadn't been granted the Gift of Flight, she would have been dead. He had been buried under rubble for 2 days, before someone finally listened to Sabine's frantic babbling that she could still feel Louis was alive. He had lived on grapes that he pulled out of part of a painting of fruit, the only part he could reach. He still couldn't stand the taste of grapes. They had been 6.

But as they grew older and their Gifts developed, they found solace in their music and each other. They formed a band, becoming celebrities, adored and idolized wherever they went. And for a number of years, Louis had been happy to play the charming face of That Band. Having one night stands whenever he felt like it. And he did love to flirt.

That day, when he saw the blood-red braids with their amber beads, caramel skin and slanted red eyes of the other Fae. Something in him just... clicked. He couldn't explain it, he'd tried. And actually getting to talk to and flirt with him at the Gala? It had only made his interest worse, more intense. He wanted to know his name, what kind of company he was used to that having a rock-star's attention wasn't anything special. His Pretty One didn't have any claiming studs, so that was one less obstacle in Louis' favor.

Sabine's voice pierced through his thoughts, snapping him back to reality. "You're not listening to me, are you?" she said, her tone filled with annoyance.

Louis blinked and looked back at his twin. "I hear you 'Bina. But I can't just ignore this. I don't want to ignore this. I have to know why him, why now."

Sabine walked over and dropped onto the arm of the couch, lilac gaze intent on Louis' own.

"You know I only want what's best for us, for you, little brother." Her voice softened slightly. "But this fascination worries me. You can't even explain to yourself why you want him of all the Fae in the Realm. What if he's a Lotus, or a Mage. And he spelled you with voice or magic? I can't lose you too Louis."

Brow wrinkled in thought, he slowly shook his head. "It doesn't feel like magic. I can't explain it true, but something about him is calling to me. Maybe nothing will come of it, and you can laugh and say 'I told you so'. But maybe Lady Magic brought him to me for a reason."

Looking into her brother's eyes, she worried, but knew nothing she said would change his mind. She knew him better than anyone in the world, not just because they had no one else, but because of being twins. She had never seen him like this before. It went beyond his usual flirting, and she was afraid the usual bed them and leave them wouldn't be enough this time.

"So how are you going to catch him then little brother?" Voice resigned, she crossed her arms over her chest and rolled her eyes heaven-ward with a fake put-upon sigh.

Louis grinned mischievously, his lilac eyes sparkling with determination. "Oh, don't you worry, 'Bina. I have a plan."

"Better than singing a new song to him in the middle of a spotlight in the middle of a Gala?" Voice dry as the desert, she smirked down at him.

Louis laughed, shaking his head.

"Ok, so that didn't work. But this should."

"Well, don't keep me waiting. What's your brilliant plan?"

A mischievous glint danced in Louis' eyes as he leaned back, crossing one leg over the other.

"I'm going to make him come to me."

Sabine's confusion was evident on her face as she asked, "And how exactly do you plan on doing that? He didn't seem very interested at the Gala."

"Oh, dear sister, you underestimate my abilities. I have a few tricks up my sleeve that he won't be able to resist. It's about capturing his attention, intriguing him, making him want more. And I have just the idea to do that."

"Alright then, what's your grand plan?"

Louis leaned in closer and whispered into Sabine's ear. As he spoke, her eyes widened and a slow smile spread across her face.

"Brilliant," she whispered back. "Absolutely brilliant."

The siblings spent the rest of the evening hatching their plan, refining the details and ensuring their execution would be flawless.
