Chapter 37: Oil Well
Within the nomad camp, Rebecca is at Marie's tent to be repaired and change out her broken cyber eye with a new one via 3d printing. "That little Borg girl got you good," Marie said as she got Rebecca fixed up and adjusted her cyberware.
"Yeah, it's very fucked up they turned her into a weapon," Rebecca gets off the chair to feel good as new.
"Yes, but Vexx is a vicious crime lord. It's not a surprise he turned that girl into a combat borg to be an asset. Make sure not to be slashed in the eye again," Marie said as Rebecca nodded her head.
"I will try," Rebecca said as she got out of the tent to look up at the sun with her new eye. "Perfect. Maria, that kid is in some deep shit," she said thinking about the young Borg girl.
"Yo Rebecca, you, okay?" Stella asked walking nearby.
"It's nothing, I just got my eye fixed," Rebecca said.
"Sounds like that with that borg girl was intense," Stella said.
"Yeah, it was, she is one of the toughest fights I've been in so far," Rebecca said.
"You want some drinks, we can talk over it," Stella said.
"Sure, the bar is over," Rebecca said as they went to the trailer where they served drinks for the nomads.
"Hello there ladies," Panam said.
"Hey boss," Rebecca said.
"Don't be so formal, just Panam is fine," Panam said as she pulled out some bottles. "What do you girls want?" she asked.
"Hard lemonade," Rebecca said.
"Me too," Stella said as Panam handed them a bottle of hard lemonade.
"Bottoms up girls," Panam said as she pulled out her bottle to begin drinking it.
Rebecca takes a sip to feel it taste good. "Oh, this hits the spot, it doesn't taste like piss water," Rebecca said.
"How would you know that?' Stella teases her as Rebecca blushes in embarrassment. She is slipping right into her lighthearted jab.
"Shut it," Rebecca said as Panam laughed at this.
"Rebecca, you have been doing a great job lately. You are reaching my expectations, V was on the money with you," Panam said as Rebecca felt humbled and blushing from this.
"Thanks, I am just doing my job. My skills can be used positively for once," Rebecca said as Panam nodded her head.
"Yeah, being one of our best Solos hence Heavies is a well-earned position. If you need anything just ask," Panam said to drink the bottle in one go to clear it up smoothly. "Oh boy, that hits the spot," Panam wipes off the lemonade from her lips.
"Any word about the next keycard?" Rebecca asked.
"Oh, the next one would be on an old oil rig abandoned by SovOil. Right off the coast, the pirate uses it as an airbase for their aircraft and aerial drones. Blowing it up would give us some breathing room," Panam said.
"Sounds like a plan to me," Rebecca said.
"Bring along Lucy, Stella, and Yuri will increase your chances of blowing up the oil rig," Panam said.
"Well, going to the sea would be nice," Stella said dryly.
"We secured a dock where the speed boat would be located. You will use it to go onto the rig, overload its generator, and then get far enough to see the fireworks. Good luck guys," Panam said as she lightly patted Rebecca on the shoulder to head off.
"Well, blowing up an airbase is a big deal. I will be getting my stuff together. I will tell Yuri and Lucy about this. Meet you later," Stella said.
"Ditto," Rebecca finished her drink to head over to her trailer to relax a bit before the mission to get the fourth keycard.
"Hello Spitfire," Cortez said, watching some movies on the TV screen.
"Hey there babe, we are going for the fourth keycard on an oil ring and blowing it up. All five of us are going there later," Rebecca said.
"Preem, the more keycards the quicker we get out of here," Cortez said as Rebecca could see he was watching a movie called China Rush based on a detective in China solving mysterious murders in a lone mountain town.
"Oh, this is so cool. I hope you have enough for two," Rebecca said lightly to sit beside him on the couch. She lay her head on his shoulder as he placed his hand on her head softly stroking her long silky green hair.
"Classic stuff, hey did you get any weird requests when you were a Mox Joy toy besides almost getting shit fresh from the oven?" Cortez asked, being curious.
"Well besides that. Some clients wanted me to get breast implants. Even Suzie thought about it but thankfully that didn't happen," Rebecca felt that her body was the way it was.
"I prefer a well-shaped, round, soft ass over big tits any day. Because I prefer, you're A cups Spitfire, they are very cute," Cortez said as he reaches to her tit to gently cup it and squeeze it a bit showing he means it.

"I managed to find a shard when I was in the deep caverns. I made this necklace for you. The gem matches your lovely green eyes," Cortez said as Rebecca wore it around her neck with the crystal sitting pretty right above her breasts.
"No one made something like this for me before. Thank you Choomba, I will hold this dear," she said to whisper this in his ear.
"Anything for you Spitfire," Cortez said as they got back to watching the movie.
Rebecca tenderly holds onto the crystal in her tiny fingers feeling warmth within her heart. "I am quite the lucky lady,"
Elsewhere SA-45 is in a cave licking his wounds and preparing to find more hostages for his boss Yorinobu. "Gee, that borg girl and Rebecca are going to be a problem. I need to find the hostages and get out of here," the David clone said as he got a call from Yorinobu.
"What is the status of your mission?" he asked.
"The Pirates are more well-armed than I thought. Too much for me to handle," SA-45 said.
"You should get to it and report back to Kate in Nexus. My Niece's allies are gaining on us. We need to crush them swiftly," Yorinobu cuts off the holo call.
"There are prisoners on the oil rig. I need to steal a boat and head over there," SA-45 said as he prepared to go on another mission.
Back with the others preparing to go on another mission to head for the oil rig to raid it, destroy it, and take the fourth keycard. Cortez gets a Diplomat shotgun and Metel revolver to be within his armor while Rebecca is in her outfit with weapons in hand.
They headed over to an armored truck as Lucy, Yuri, and Stella were waiting there. Stella is wielding a Warden smart SMG, Lucy is using a Kappa smart machine pistol and Yuri has a scoped suppressed Masamune and a VST-37 Pozhar with a drum magazine.
"Well, let's get moving," Stella said as the gang got inside to head for the dock that was cleared by the nomads to head for the oil rig. "Gee, we are almost halfway done with this. Can't wait to get out of this place," Stella said.
"I ditto that, can't wait to see Nexus," Yuri said.
"Yep, a real city controlled by Arasaka," Lucy felt nervous about that.
"We got your back, don't worry about it," Cortez said driving the truck.
"Yeah Choom, we got this. Granny Arasaka has our backs there. Besides I want to celebrate Christmas and New Year's Day there with you guys," Rebecca said.
"Oh yeah, it's almost the end of the year. The end of 2077 and the beginning of 2078," Stella said.
"Rough year but with a new year comes new memories," Lucy said.
"Yeah, I would love to share it all with you guys," Rebecca said.
"Let's handle this before thinking about it further," Klunk said.
"Such a buzzkill," Rebecca said as they arrived at the dock to see a speed boat that would take them to the oil rig. "Time to get our feet wet," she said as they hopped into the speedboat to drive off towards the huge oil rig turned makeshift air base for their drones and gunships.
"Gee, pretty big place," Lucy said.
"Yeah. Two teams will do different things. Getting the key and destroying the rig," Cortez said.
"Lucy will come with us to get the key while Stella and Yuri blow up the rig," Klunk said.
"Sounds good to me. We need to hack into its network and trace where anything is," Lucy said as they approached the huge oil rig with SovOil marks all over it.
"This is looking very familiar," Yuri said.
"About your time in the Soviet Union?" Stella asked.
"Yes, they have their remnants here like old fossils," Yuri said as they docked by a platform to see if the pirates were not alerted to their presence.
"Good, they don't know. Let's move to our objectives. An access point we need to hack to get a better view of the layout of the rig," Cortez said as they split up to go onto their routes. They see rows of drones and robot gunships on the makeshift landing pads.
Elsewhere SA-45 arrived on the rig shortly after to use his Sandy to speed through the area trying to find the hostages located in the rig. He notices the pirates patrolling the area. "So many guys around here. I need to find those guys," he said as he sneaked through the area.
Back with Cortez, Rebecca and Lucy get behind cover with Cortez and Lucy use their quick hacking to take out enemies silently. Using System Collapse to blow out their nervous systems to nonlethal taking them out quietly.
Rebecca snaps the necks of enemy grunts to pull them into the building to avoid getting found out before they make their move. "Hey they got prisoners here," Rebecca said to see several Corpos locked up in cages and asleep.
"Not our problem, oh there is an Access Point," Cortez said as Lucy hooked up to the access point to implant a rewrite program not allowing the pirates to control their drone forces.
"Got it," Lucy said as she got a layout of the oil rig to send it to the others. "Seems like the keycard is in a storage room," Lucy said as she sent Cortez and Rebecca the location.
"Good, how is your end?" Cortez asked Yuri and Stella who were in a room which has an access point as well.
"Stella has found an access point to use," Yuri said as Stella hacked the control panel to drop a demon to turn off their defenses.
"They are dead in the water. I found the generator room but I need to go there directly to overload it," Stella said.
"Preem, time to make some noise," Cortez and Lucy cause several pirates to be set on fire. Cortez uses his Metel revolver for the explosive rounds reducing the pirates into piles of broken flesh, bone, and metal on the floor.
"Shit, we are being attacked. Turn on our defenses," a pirate said as they were confused about their defenses and drones were turned off.
"Shit, someone has hacked them off," another pirate said as some of the turrets opened fire on the pirates.
Rebecca leaps on top of a pirate to crush his skull with a stomp to use her Lexington to pop them in the heads to flatline them. Rebecca tosses an EMP grenade to disable their Cyberware to pierce them in the skulls.
"Damn it, you gonks set this whole place on fire," SA-45 uses his sandy to knock Rebecca into a crater. The David clone is firing his Kenshin to slam into Rebecca's body which has hardened to the shots blocking them.
"This fucking clone," Rebecca said as Klunk boost jumps to avoid a speedy tackle. She drops down to slam into him and kicks him across the area. "Babe, go get the keycard. I will handle this poser," Rebecca said to wield her Lexington to pepper him with bullets.
"Okay, good luck Spitfire. You will beat his ass," Cortez said having complete faith in her fighting strength.
"Damn, straight baby. Okay, poser, I need to put you down. No more fucking around," Rebecca rushes in using the dashing from Klunk's mini thrusters to give her an edge to leap over a speedy lunge. Klunk is detecting his Sandevistan as Rebecca counterattacks with a Riot grenade to pause him with sticky foam to stop his movements. She dashes forward to get close to slam her Gorilla fists to smash his head and kick him across the area. She fires her gun as SA-45 is using his Sandy to dodge her shots to close in to kick her.
Rebecca catches his foot to pound her fist into his chest. SA-45 pulls a flashbang to blind her to shove his hand to press against her chest to unleash a wave of electricity to stun her.
"Shit taser," Rebecca thought as she got shoved away to put in a few charged shots. Rebecca recovers fast enough to get cut across her cheek with her adrenaline rush mode blocking the rest. "That will not be enough," she said.
"Like I give a shit, you are getting in the way. Which means you are blocking my way to Lucy," SA-45 said.
"She is not yours. She needs to move on from you like I did. You are nothing more than a pawn to Arasaka. A slave to them," Rebecca said.
"I need them to get what I want. I made peace with that. I want me and Lucy to move into the future," SA-45 said.
"No dice. You need to stay in the past where you belong," Rebecca said as she was willing to take him out to protect Lucy from David's twisted shadow. The fight resumes with Cortez going down into the lower levels with chaos happening as the defenses are shooting at the pirates.
He grabs his Diplomat shotgun to presses the button under the grip to set it on semi-auto mode to begin blasting apart pirates with rapid clean shots. His buckshots are tearing into their bodies with him heading to the storage room where the keycard is located.
A LAW was hacked and turned onto their users killing them with a mounted hailstorm minigun. Cortez keeps moving with Lucy taking over defenses to kill as many pirates as possible. Stella and Yuri were fighting through the hordes of pirates to see Rebecca fighting and winning against the clone.
"One hell of a melee out here," Stella said as Yuri was putting three round bursts into the heads of the pirates to kill them off.
"You can say that," Yuri said as Lucy saw Rebecca fighting the David clone. This was very uncanny seeing the two fighting each other. Rebecca, being much more experienced, is managing to keep up with SA-45's quickness via using her outflanking and equipment.
"Rebecca is really putting him on the defensive. Doesn't help that clone fights like David who was also pretty predictable," Lucy said to watch the fight unfold.
Rebecca backs away from a Sandy attack via dashing from Klunk. Suddenly charges in to punch him in the face to knock him onto the ground. "I am not that selfish Edgerunner I used to be. That Rebecca is long dead and Nomad Rebecca is going to kill you dead," Rebecca is gaining up at him.
She is disabling his Sandy with EMP grenades while she jumps on a crate to fire several shots from her Revolver to blast into his body. Blood shot out from each shot piercing his body. SA-45 is getting weaker from Rebecca grinding him down with each move and attack.
"Fuck," the David Clone charges at her with swift speed as Rebecca simply dodges it knowing what he is going to do. She drops a Riot grenade to hold him in place and delivers a powerful charged punch into the chest. The strong blow made the clone spit blood onto the floor and send him flying across the area.
"I taught you everything David and now I am going to show you how it's done," Rebecca said as she tossed a stun grenade in advance to know he was going to speed at her. He gets caught by it and fires a slug to blow off his arm.
"Rebecca," Lucy said as she saw this shadow of David was going to die at Rebecca's hands.
"Lucy, I will not let him get his hands on you. We both lost him, I moved on. You need to move on too, embrace the future, and never look back. I want to be there for you Lucy. Be your friend, I wish I was before," Rebecca sorted out her feelings as Lucy looked on to be a real fool.
"Oh Rebecca," Lucy said seeing a true friend wanting to protect her. "Take him down. Arasaka has enslaved his DNA. We are going to free it and keep going forward," Lucy said with a smile.
"Hell yeah," Rebecca fires another slug to blow off his other arm to flop onto the floor. She stomps her foot onto his chest to fire the slug into his head killing the clone. "I doubt that will be the last one," Rebecca said with her vast experience winning this fight.
"Yeah, but we will be ready for it," Lucy said as Cortez was using his shotgun to rapidly tear into enemies to go into the storage room to find the keycard.
"Perfect, found the keycard. We need to get out of here," Cortez said.
"Okay, our speed boat is destroyed but we can use a gunship to ride out of here," Lucy said.
"Preem, Rebecca. Secure a gunship for us," Cortez said.
"I am on it, baby. Stella and Yuri. How is it on your end?"' she asked to boost jump to head for a secured area.
"We are close to the command center," Stella said as she triggered a Contagion + Overheat combo to see a group of pirates explode. Yuri is blasting away with his full auto shotgun to scatter their broken bodies across the floor.
"We are going to secure a ride out of here. Overload the generator and we can get out of here," Rebecca said as she jumped onto a landing pad to see the Valgus drone gunship which has the troop cabin inside.
Cortez and Lucy come to the landing pad to defend the drone while they prepare the gunship. Lucy hacks into the gunship to begin taking control of the drone as Cortez and Rebecca defend her.
Stella fires several burst shots from her Warden to get them in the head. Yuri is pumping buckshots into the pirates with the drones and defenses still killing them off. They reached the generator room and Stella began to hack into the control panel.
"Time to leave this place in smoke," Stella begins to overload the generator to run out of there killing pirates in their wake.
"We got the gunship running. Keep going," Lucy said to get the Vargus moving to see the blades spinning to take off.
"They are getting away," the pirate said but got headshot by Yuri to use his scoped Masamune to take out enemies swiftly.
"Come on," Rebecca said as the duo could see the Vargus gunship flying up to hop inside to speed off. The oil rig soon explodes killing everyone on it and sinking it to the bottom of the ocean.
"All of those dead hostages," Cortez said.
"There are Corpos, good riddance," Rebecca said sitting beside Lucy. "You, okay?" she asked, sounding concerned.
"Yes, Becca and thank you for taking care of that clone," Lucy said feeling grateful for being friends with Rebecca.
"Don't worry choom, it's what best friends do," Rebecca playfully pats her on the back.
"Well, we got the fourth keycard and now we are halfway done here," Klunk said.
"Yes, let's go home," Rebecca said as their mission was complete and dealing a big blow to the pirates.
Elsewhere Yorinobu knows about the death of SA-45 via their life signs going flatlined. "Well, another one bites the dust," he said as he looked at a screen to see another David clone inside a water tank. "Seems like you need more modifications to make you a better asset. Time to shine, SA-46(Special Agent model 46). Number 46 is the charm," Yorinobu humors himself as David's DNA is going to be used for very wicked purposes to aid Yorinobu dragging the world into a fifth corporate war to destroy Arasaka for good.
