That night Batman was flying over the Gotham city. It wasn't the same anymore, no bright lights, some parts of the city were completely dark, much fewer cars and Batman knew that most of those cars were driven by Evan's people. He knew they were patrolling the city as well as maintaining it and most of the regular people were already asleep because of the new sound tv, radio and outside system which was introduced. Even was making citizens of Gotham do whatever he needed them to do. He was a mad scientist with a lab full of rats and he enjoyed to watch them being manipulated. The sound which was played right after nine o'clock in the evening people could here everywhere in the streets, homes and cars. In twenty minutes of this sound and most of the city was asleep inhaling thick green air. The city was so clogged up with this green fog that no windows or doors could help to avoid it.
The city reminded Batman about some animal which was wounded and almost dead but still walking somewhere it didn't know where. He had a map of the city with four major leaks of the green fog. Batman learned about all four of them from the app used by Evan's people. They patrolled those spots daily and over night and to slow them down Batman had to go underground again. He was sure there was many more people patrolling this leak from the tunnels.
But he must do what he mast and Batman let his small aircraft fly in the sky unseen while he himself went down in the tunnels.
He started from the far away leak hoping to learn more about the mechanics of the Evan's system. There was a straight tunnel to the leak and Batman made his way through some of guards and made them unconscious. But when he got to the actual mechanism of the leak it was hard to figure out so Batman had to call Lucius. Batman followed orders over the video and Lucius could see the whole construction connected to the pipe through Batman's eyes. Two hours in and they figured out how to lower the pressure.
-I hope the next one has the same system.
-I wouldn't be so sure Lucius. Can we stop it with no opportunity to start it again?
-We can try but it will take more time. Are you sure nobody reported you Batman?
-If somebody did this place would be full of Evan's people Lucius. I have time and I want to stop it completely.
-It's time to get to work then!
More time was spent when Batman finally could take his air cleaning mask off. The pollution was so heavy at the core of a leak that he had to wear a mask perfectly constructed against chemical attacks. By the time he finished the place was full of police they got the hold of this place and secured it. When Batman left the underground he met James Gordon leading the operation.
-Thank you, Batman. I'm sure Evan already knows about us but we will make sure this leak won't be open even all of us are dead.
-Save you men, Gordon there are three more of those if not worse. We will have to secure and hold them all.
-Right! Thanks for those masks they really help my people. This fog is affecting the best of us.
-I got to go. This is the location of the next leak I'll let you know when to come. No need to risk people until I clean that place. Also there are like six guys underground you can take them they probably got their consciousness back by now.
-Will do. - said Gordon seeing a black figure disappeared into the night.
Batman got half of the night ahead of him so he sprinted to the second leak just to found out that there were twice more people guarding it.
-Master Bruce. - Batman heard Alfred voice in his headphone. - Your sensors show that there are way too many people for you to handle on your own. Evan apparently knows that he lost one of his leaks and now he doubles guarding the rest of them!
-I got this.
-We got this. - he heard one more familiar voice behind his back.
-How did you… - Batman turned around fast to face White Shadow.
The suit was fixed and ready for her at the Batman's lab. But how she managed to escape from Lucius and Alfred and more importantly does she know who is Batman? Those where the questions to answer but first they got to stop the leak.
